  • Drag & Drop on Hubitat Dashboards is Possible! Using this awesome community app (which is technically a driver) and a little bit of setup can ease the pain of arranging your Hubitat Elevation dashboards.
This has been tested on Hubitat c7 and Hubitat c8.
This app is best installed and maintained with the Hubitat Package Manager. There is a link below that describes HPM in more detail.

These dashboard drag & drop instructions use code developed by a member of the Hubitat community. It's always a good idea to backup your hub before trying new things with community apps and drivers.
    - test this out first on a test dashboard. If you have a Hubitat test hub, start there. Once you understand how this works, apply the concepts to your main hubs and dashboards.
    - the instructions show you how to back up your Hubitat dashboards. Don't regret ignoring this advice!

DIY Smart Home Guy creates how-to videos for smart home automation centered around Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. Review videos are generally centered around Hubitat Elevation, SmartThings and Vera. I personally run Hubitat as my primary smart hub, however I do test products on the hubs mentioned. I understand that a home automation hub is not a path for everyone. I chose this path because I am a firm believer is advanced automation and local control.

    UPDATE FOR HUBITAT C-5 USERS
I've de-mothballed by C-5. For me, Option 1 (ezeek) does not work, but Option 2 (manually injecting the code into the JSON) does work.
If you're reporting a problem, please let me know which OS you are using (Windows, iOS, or Android), and the Browser. This will allow for more testing.

HELP! Your steps are amazing! I was tracking with you perfectly until 8:00. When I selected Drag and Drop, then Attribute, then Javascript then Add Tile. My little tile gets added but does NOT disappear, and I get no paw! This is a brand-new install for me. I am on a PC and I am running the latest version of the app. Any ideas?

I have a couple of dashboards with battery widgets that do that. Do you have any batteries on the dashboard. If not, tell me what widget types you have and I’ll try to replicate.

Everything is good until 7:38, but then the the small "Drag and Drop" tile appears, but does not disappear and there is no paw in the upper right. I'm using Safari 16.6 on Mac, would that matter?

It took a while to figure out on my setup. Battery widgets seems to break it. There may be others also. You can try changing certain widgets to see if that fixes.

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 Thanks for the reply. But I have no widgets installed. This was actually one of the first things I installed on my new Hubitat C8. I am starting to move to Hubitat from my VeraPlus, and man, I am going to miss the HomeWave iOS app for Vera (by Ronald In 't Velt). I use this app everyday, amazing. Love it. Trying to make a similar "Dashboard" for my iPhone with the stock Dashboard maker for Hubitat (I've given up on Drag n' Drop). Not the worst thing (now that I made the buttons smaller), but I can see I'll miss the HomeWave app.

OMG! Clunky to get established but how is not a feature directly built in. Honestly the only reason I don't suggest Hubitat when people ask for suggestions on a smart home hub is due to the dashboard. This is amazing!
