It is a smashing one of a kind guide for building better sheds and woodworking minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my best friend Jordan after many years got great success with it.

Having a smart home dashboard is really cool. I love having that "birds eye" view of everything at a glance... especially late at night or early in the morning when I may not want to use smart speakers to control things. My kid has also used it. I have found my daughter using the wall-mounted iPad to make FaceTime calls to grandma in the past lol.

I too am building a new house and want to set up a smart home. Start off basic. Some lights, switches, cameras, doorbell, locks, garage door remote. I can't wait for new home tutorials.
The part I struggle with, is knowing what to get. I currently have multiple Amazon Alexas and 1 Google mini, smart things mesh (but have never used it) I'd like to keep the number of apps limited and have most things integrated. Can you create an updated "all in one getting started video"

I have an iPad (OR an old Kindle!) I'd LOVE to use for a home dashboard! I have a couple Google mini's in the house. The Echobee thermostat, which has Alexa. I have a couple Wyze cameras. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO GET EVERYTHING WORKING TOGETHER!! 🤣😂🤪😜 Just stumbled across your video. So I plan on watching a LOT more!

I'm using an iPort mount with buttons bezel with an iPad mini 4 on the wall. It's the most beautiful frame i found and it has 10 physical buttons you can program them as you wish. I use Roomie remote app for these buttons. The good thing is that you can create different Activities and you can use these 10 buttons for multiple purposes based the activity you have selected. The iPad mini 4 itself has Homekit as a dashboard which i think is beautiful, easy to use with all devices separated by rooms and it's very fast. All my smart devices are appearing to this dashboard after setting up the non compatible by using Homebridge on a Raspberry Pi. Remote access for all my accessories using an Apple Tv gen 4 as the main hub of homekit. Love from Greece.

What setup do you recommend for Airbnb rentals where you don't want anyone poking around the settings? I use Samsung smarthings and z-wave devices for sensors, etc. Also want to be able to have the video feed from my Dash to automatically display on the screen when someone rings the bell. Other functions to control lights, a Sonos player to play pre-defined music/playlists from Spotify, turn on z-wave devices around the home, etc. Thanks!

Hey, I have been watching you for a while and just subbed because I want to see what you do with your new home.
My home is 88 years old and has come a long way since I bought it. I plan to sell it as a smart home when I finish rehabbing it soon. Before this happens I want to add at least one dashboard.
I can relate to the excitement you had when you got a function to show up on your dashboard and your wife was like "oh, how exciting". I recently added a smart switch on my furnace power so I can turn it off while I wash my filters without having to go in the basement. I love that I get notifications on my watch if the furnace has no power or heat tape on my water meter has not come on when the outside temperature dips below 33 degrees. The water meter is in an unheated space and to move it will cost hundreds of dollars so as of now it is automatically controlled and I don't have to worry if it will freeze and cost me more money to fix it. If I am curious about it when the outside temperature dips to 33 degrees, I just ask Alexa what the heat tape temperature is. Otherwise I get a push notification that the heat tape has come on right on my watch.
People who are on the outside do not understand that it is not just convenience, but necessity to be able to control so much that not only makes it easy on you to have smart devices. It saves your time and money to have the most efficient home. When I first got my home it cost $800 per month in energy during winter & now I spend 20% of similar homes in my area on energy. The value has increased by five times what I paid for it & have invested in to it. The fact that it is full on smart, will help sell it too ( I hope).

The reason I love out-of-the-box solutions is if one device should fail a few years later I know I can just replace it with a new one rather than remembering what I did to get the device working with HA. Case in point I set up a computer with cameras and one failed after a couple of years and I ordered a replacement and was off and running in few hours.

I've had a weird problem with the Wallpanel app on my tablet. I have it set of the default home app, and it's set to screensaver mode so the screen never turns off. It works fine but every three days or so I find the screen off and when I turn it back on it's popped up again asking if I want to always use Wallpanel for the home app or just open it once. I hit always, and then a few days later it does it again.

Thanks Nikolay! Yeah if you only had a few smart devices a dashboard may not be necessary but they make controlling smart lights really convenient. So even if you had a few smart lights, a calendar, to do list...etc it might be worth it.

I've tried setting up Action Tiles on a Kindle Fire several times but found that I didn't use it all that often and that it was very buggy. The best feature I found was importing IP camera feeds from Blue Iris... However the problem with Blue Iris is that you need to leave a PC running the software 24/7 and the laptop I was using died on me and I haven't bothered setting it up again since. Might give it all a go again once I've got a bit more free time 🤔

Having a reliable Blue Iris server is probably the most expensive part of the setup. If you have ip cameras, I've heard tinycam is a good alternative to pipe streams into dashboards and view your cameras via mobile.

@@LadyRenira yeah, I'll probably have another go at it. I find that home automation is more of a hobby than being helpful but it still is cool some of the things you can do. I'm thinking of giving Home Assistant another try and use their dashboard... The main issue I've found is the Kindle screensaver being buggy

Has anyone used VR for eye therapy, and if so, what device and program is best?
I went to a private eye therapy place and they had a large touchscreen and I had to look at the center dot while the white background would hv other dots appear, I’d hv to tap them b4 they went away( like whack a mole) and it was great for my peripheral vision development!
I’m going to look at the price of a large touch screen and the price of V. R. Goggles along with how much each fame costs, to compare prices, but I think I need a script from an eye dr?
After watching this, I’m highly considering a large touchscreen. Ty!

Sounds nice, Reed. I’m interested in something that doesn’t have to go out to the internet. Something like a Intranet. Any ideas?

I'm keen to set up something similar. I have the ability to Arm/Disarm the alarm from my dashboard and for that reason I'd like some security so that an intruder cannot do the same. I'd like to use facial recognition to login however does anybody know of a way to get it to recognise my face when the tablet is landscape? i.e. the camera sees my face as 90 degree rotated? I'm using a Samsung Tab S2 at the moment. Is that even possible?
