- Samsung has launched its first “Ultra” smartwatch with the Galaxy Watch Ultra. This is a very powerful device with a brand new design, top health-tracking features you can't get anywhere else, and the promise of multi-day battery life. However, even with all that good stuff, you should probably still skip it. Let's talk about why!

Bro, how are you calling out the price on the galaxy watch ultra when you can justify the price on the apple watch ultra when they both literally do the same thing? (Btw, Galaxy watch ultra is actually cheaper)
Apple contract you know 😂
@@shaolin95 I swear, the hypocrisy is so infuriating. Their channel is called ANDROID AUTHORITY for crying out loud!
Poor fandroid, just because you are poor and can't afford Apple watch that doesn't mean you can come here and spew lies. There's no competition to Apple watch.
Because no matter what tech journalists always think Android should be cheap. Whilst even using premium materials
No they don't 😂 Apple's watch actually works. I have both AWU and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, the Galaxy watch is so inaccurate I can't even use it for working out and the lag on it is atrocious.
Just so we're clear....Samsung's watch was copied by Apple first. Samsung's watches were square first just look at the Samsung Gear S
Using square or circular design is now copying. Fandroid!! There's no competition to Apple watch poor fandroid.
@@AseshShresthabitch smell correctly, all that talk and can't spell, afford a better education.
@@AseshShrestha😂 wearos is shit no arguing that but saying watchos is best when you get exactly the same features in $50 smartwatches is not only stupid but also hilarious 😆
#factsss people have a really short memory nowadays...
I still have the gear s.. best looking watch ever.. ahead of it's time..
Horrible title to the video, almost click bait. Watch is worth it if you want the larger display, larger battery and all the extras. Its a premium offering and as you stated, you can always go with the regular Samsung watch and pay less. Its about providing choices.
It doesn't really have a larger display though, that statement in the video was false. It has the same screen size (1.5 inch) as the 44mm version of the Galaxy Watch 7.
@5:45 $650 vs $800... you call that "almost as expensive" as the Apple Watch Ultra 2? 🙄
$150 is a big difference 🤦♂
I can get this watch for $339 after veteran discount + trade-in. Very tempting
@@jstrig I just pulled the trigger on it today. I used the $50.00 promotion they did leading up to the unpacked event & a 350.00 trade-in, of my two year old watch 5 Pro. After tax, it came to 270.99. The trade-ins deals they offer are great!
@@mattsmith7362 I just think it's probably a bit too large for me and I'm thinking about switching to a Pixel phone and watch
@@mattsmith7362 same got it for 320 after 5pro trade in.
@@jstrig yep.. i actually got the ultra and buds pro 3 for $370
3 Words: Samsung Trade-in Program. Just ordered the Ultra and offered up this Watch 5 Pro for trade-in and was given a healthy $350 value toward this orange beauty + 1st Responder Discount means $224 out the door, need i say more?
How does one get the first responder discount?
@@asianstud7 The Samsung Store offers a First Responder program which you go through a vetting process and they flag your account as First Responder. So you have to present them with your credentials.
I was just able to order mine, trading in my Galaxy Watch 5 for $250 value...so Galaxy Watch Ultra was $337 total for me shipped.
@@asianstud7 I used the Android "Shop Samsung" app. At the top of the page there's a drop down on the right side that shows the various discount programs. I'm sure the website is similar. Hope this helps 👍
@@asianstud7by being a first responder
I hate to be that guy, but you missed a few differences between the watch 7 and the Galaxy watch ultra.
- Galaxy watch ultra has FTP detection
- Galaxy watch ultra has a night mode that turns the screen red in dark conditions
- Galaxy watch ultra has 3,000 nits of peak brightness
- Galaxy watch ultra is approved for snorkeling and can withstand pressure at 100 m (as opposed to the Galaxy watch 7. Being approved for showering and swimming in shallow water and only being able to withstand 50 m of pressure)
meters of pressure slowly become meaningless to 99% of people. Hardly anyone dives below 50m Snorkeling doesn't tend to go more than 10m on average even recreational scuba divers don't go below 40m depth. to go below 50m you need to really know you need different gas mixtures and decompression stops. it is a level of diving used maybe by 0.1% of population if not less.
@@FeniksGaming a difference is a difference. If he’s going to compare the two devices, he needs to call out differences. Give the people the information and they’ll decide if the difference is meaningful to them. Or not.
But he’s doing a disservice to the audience by claiming the difference doesn’t exist. 😊
Todays smartwatches be like RIP to skinny arms .. Lol😅
Yeah I ordered mine and I'm a woman with a small wrist so...... I don't mind a big watch I'm coming off of watch5 pro but this thing looks like a beast. Regardless I'm going to rock it proud cuz it does what I needed to do.
You do know the price an apple watch ultra, right? This is what I hate from reviews and the constant comparison to a different os. Why is it always worth paying high prices for anything Apple? I pre order an ultra watch plus a trade in which I am paying WAY less than what the cost of the Apple watch ultra is.
It funny to me that some of these reviewers cry bloody murders if a android is pricey but calm when apple prices.
Just paid $225 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra. That's definitely worth the price 😊
How ?
@Ashwinbabs
Galaxy Watch 6 Classic - trade in $350 value

What make it worth it
I'm trading in my Apple watch Ultra for this watch, everything you kind of complain about on the Samsung watch the Apple watch is the same thing there really is no difference other than the dive app and capabilities on the Ultra. iOS watch 10 and 11 software is the same across. In my opinion the silver Samsung watch looks way more premium than the Apple watch I really like the design I wish the bezel moved but I'm sure sacrifices had to be made to keep the prices competitive and keep water resistance. iOS 10 watch software in my opinion also got laggy if you have an Apple watch Ultra and given honest opinion you will agree with that. Also i paid 900 tor the watch ultra i can definitely say it wasnt worth that it should have been priced like this one
Lol well as someone who has both you made a horrible mistake. Do your research next time, watch Quantified Scientist, he does comparisons with all the Smart watches and fitness trackers, Samsung ranks almost last in terms of accuracy. I can't even recommend using my Samsung Watch for fitness.
@@superiortoall22 absolutely not lol, iOS watch 10-11 is laggy, lack of a auto brightness toggle is frustrating got this big screen watch and can't see it unless you go stand in the sun. I'm good and very happy with the switch over
Amazon is selling watch bands that fit the Watch Ultra. I have ordered one.
What do you want and talking about? This device seems insanely brilliant..And it's design is awesomest.
Not only is it cheaper, but with all the promos Samsung does when they release a new product, it ended being $329.
yup got mine for 225 after trade in and promos 😁
Got a great price on the Ultra as well. $204 after trade in and other discounts. Well worth it
Yeah, I'm getting it and not paying full price. I finally replace my Galaxy Watch 3
@@user-bk5ey9ws5gwhat did you trade in?
@GhostbustersExpert Same, same. Gonna miss the rotating bezel on my watch 3, but not charging it every night and being future proof for a while is gonna be dope.
"The screen is ENORMOUS...". I guess he's never seen another 47mm watch before...
its 47mm
you call this big screen ????!anything but big its just chunky I will still wait for 5 inch maybe one day no idea why can get big screen so I can actually operate and see something
@@nira_z Correct. My point still stands. 47mm is the size of the bezel. The screen is pretty much the same size as the Galaxy Watch 7.
I died with the tumbail title "Ultra Expensive" 🤣
Ordered mine. I have the Pro and love the battery life. I skipped the last upgrade. I've been waiting for a high quality Android watch with at least the Pro battery life.
5:40 that's rich coming from someone who justified Apple watch ultra's price 😂
man the sheer hypocrisy 🤣
I just ordered mine today. With trade in my existing watch i only paid $250. And bought watch 7 for my wife. With trade in i paid 83 dollars
I had Watch 5 pro for 2 years. Still works Fine and good batery life.
Same. And it's as least as ultra as the new one. And look miles better. Ordered new straps a few days ago after seeing the 7 series brings nothing important to the table. So will be staying with the 5 pro at least until 8 series or even beyond.
THE NEW NAME IS THIS COMPANY APPLESUNG😂
Lots of band choices for the Ultra already on Amazon. I've ordered mine for when my watch arrives. Upgrading from my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and looking forward to the better accuracy of health sensors.
Well,if it had a physical bezel I'd buy it...
I'm with you there! It has become a must-have for me and the main reason why I've been buying Samsung's watches over the generations!
LITERALLY you and the two other people that miss getting grit and stuff in there...
@@NotAGreatGamer1981 that has LITERALLY never happened to me and I Mountain bike, run, hit the gym, and swim with my current and past watches with the rotating bezel.
For those who are saying that the Galaxy watch ultra is a copy of Apple's Watch Ultra, search the Samsung Gear Sport. It looks exactly like that. If anything, it looks more like a Panerai Radiomir. The orange band and the button are from Garmin, but the button being orang is from Apple, though.
Also, as this video failed to mention/understand. Samsung is not going to use a mechanical rotating bezel where it will fail if the watch is used as intended.
I got it on the pre-sale but only cause Samsung offered $50. Presale sign up, $50. Military discount, $350 trade in on old watch, free switch of the orange watch band and finally free shipping. Total cost for the Ultra 7 taxes included just under $225. Otherwise I wouldn't have considered it. Hope that battery last almost 2 day or better.
I have the Watch5 Pro and Watch6 Classic. My Watch Ultra is on order.
From Samsung website
Galaxy Watch Ultra is water resistant for 10 minutes in water with a depth of 100 meters according to the ISO22810 standard. The test was conducted in 5% salty water and 4ppm chlorine water. Galaxy Watch Ultra is water resistant with an IP68 rating based on the lab test conditions for submersion in up to 1.5 meters fresh water for up to 30 minutes. It is not suitable for high-pressure water activities and diving. It may be used for shallow-water activities like swimming in a pool or ocean. Water resistance is not a permanent condition and can diminish over time. Refer to the user manual for further information, including care/use instructions.
Cool story!
What a bummer. Sad. AWU is superior then...
@@mattsmith7362
It's no story.
@@mattsmith7362
It's not my story. It's a Samsung original production.
Coming from a regular diesel big daddy 2.0 watch this looks like a tick 😂. So perfect size for me. Loving the design 🤔
I preordered the Ultra only because I was able to get it for $250 after trading in my 5Pro. I love the cycling metrics and other health features.
Why is nobody providing information about the strap wrist size?
Still love my 5Pro. Waiting for a new version of the Pro. Which offers extended battery life, durability of titanium, perfect for working out and is more elegant than this gaudy Ultra thing.
Ive never seen so much bias in a review, do you own apple stock?
😅
As a GW6 Classic owner, i will wait for 8th gen
Yeah, they said that they will jump between the "Pro Sport" and the "Classic" every two years
The 2 year upgrade plan is a good one. I went from the watch 3 to the watch 5 pro (because of the huge trade-in they did), and today, I Pulled the trigger on the Galaxy Ultra. they still give you a great trade-in at the two years. I also did the $50 pre-order credit. ended up 249.00. $125 a year is a great value.
Price is great with pre-order trade in
Watch Ultra looks impressive on design as compared to bland look on the apple one. Price is affordable for the fear=tures it offers. For me the only down side is that it does not have a rotating bezel.
For $649 I need longer than 2 days of battery life I'll wait for another model
lol shut up
if the bezel doesn't rotate they should have made the screen square like the apple watch
Help me understand the bezel. So the bezel doesn't actually move, but is the bezel itself touch sensitive? Or do you have to touch the screen to navigate through the UI?
They are making shortcuts so they don't need to create new ui for square screen shape. They wanted square physical shape without square screen because less work.
@@bmlove81 yes the bezel doesn't move it uses a digital bezel like on the standard watch. so you have touch the screen and not the physical bezel and scroll clockwise and counterclockwise to go backwards and forward. the new crown also just a shortcut button and rotating it doesn't do anything.
I loved my 5pro, but hated it having no rotating bezel. So I bought 6 classic. Worse battery, but not gonna fall again and buy watch without rotating bezel anymore.
bezel works like my 6 classic.. it doesn't physically rotate but uses touch
FYI... for those upgrading from the watch 6 classic... I pre-ordered the Ultra and the final cost was 230.00... That included the Pre-order bonus.
I ordered the ultra because I used to have an iPhone with an apple watch ultra and I was a big fan of the design and size. I switched to the S24 ultra and the galaxy watch ultra is similar to my previous watch so I pulled the trigger on the ultra.
Yeah the high price comment was strange especially when compared to the Apple Watch Ultra, which is it's direct competitor. Also the trade in values are pretty good making it an even better deal.
The trade in discount of my watch 6 ($350), pre-order bonus of a 2nd watch band, $50 app discount, and my money member discount, costed me only $190 for the ultra. That's a SMOKING DEAL! Apples trade in program is terrible and more expensive. I'm happy with my purchase!
$285!! I have never done a pre-order before but when I looked I just couldn't resist last night.. For some reason Samsung knocked $50 off for the pre-order so it's $599. The trade in for my watch 5 pro was $350.. They're also giving an extra band for pre-order meaning you get two bands of your choice. My total with tax and my trade-in was $285.. That was a no-brainer for me.
No rotating crown or bezel? 😑
What about the larger speakers? No one has mentioned this but these speakers are supposed to be louder.
The durability and battery life is why I'm getting one
Galaxy watch ultra looks like a creation created by Frankenstein
I'm just here to read the comments of the Samsung Knights in full force 😂. These tech companies battling each other makes for better products for us consumers, so appreciate it, no matter who you are aligned with. Humbly from the guy who has the; S23 Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro, OnePlus 12 and Pixel 7 Pro.
Just traded in my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro for exactly what I paid for it in 2022 ($350.00). Used a few discounts and was able to purchase the Ultra for, $240.00 (That includes tax and shipping).
Great content. Did you know that you can't wireless charge other than using the puck it comes with, because the bottom of the watch is made different, you might be able to wireless charge using other charging stand but it will charge super slow, and will heat up real easy. As for price, if people get there, watch 7 ultra through their carrier it doesn't matter. I'd rather pay 15 bucks a month than pay it out right. As for bands, I just bought 3 bands on amizon that will work with the 7 ultra.
can u flip the screen to wear it on your right hand with wheel on inside
I watched another video where the guy was pairing it with his Samsung phone, and in the options there was a setting for wearing it either on your Left hand or Right hand. So yes, you can choose.
I'm just assuming that all functions on the watch itself would then be flipped as well.
Will this still have raise to wake feature?
2:41 Quality should needs for it's internal components specifically screen, touch sensitive after all the glass
I'd highly suggest for anyone considering this watch to buy a used Galaxy watch 5 Pro instead. It doesn't have the exact same build quality, but it does have the sapphire glass, raised bezel as well as the same battery capacity. It's what I've been daily driving since it came out and is also the reason that I am not going to get the ultra.
Great video. You got me real excited for my new watch. For anyone interested, I preordered the Ultra and got 200 dollars off the original price plus 115 dollars trade in for my Samsung watch 5 pro. That brings the watch down to 350. For that, I get the premium materials, the large battery, the new shape, the enormous screen and all the features. I also love big watches. 100% positive for me, except.... I hate the watchband, so I hope alternatives will be available soon. The watch is really expensive, but Samsung products go down in price very quickly. Thanks again for the video.
I buy all of my Samsung products directly from Samsung. I received a $350 trade allowance for my Watch 6 Classic, a $25 discount for pre-ordering, and a $30 government employee discount. I also received an extra watchband that retails for $79.99 free. I paid $283 for the watch after tax with no extra charge for shipping and using my Samsung reward points. $650? Not if you do it right.
The Ultra is not a copycat of the Apple watch, Samsung used that look & design YEARS ago on one of their watches, LONG before the Apple Watch. It was the Samsung Gear Sport.
Ordered the ultra for my first smartwatch. Held off until now but now it seems the ultra will be nearly as durable as my trusted G Shock
Can i pair a heart rate monitor on it ? If not no tanks.
Rather wait on the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro.
I pre-ordered mine Wednesday, traded my Classic 6 and the additional discount, a cool $249+tax the final cost. Been wearing the OnePlus Watch 2 and it's great, better than the Classic 6 IMO and my likes, but for the S24 Ultra, I need/want the Galaxy Ultra Watch.
I also like how Samsung went for a Panerai look....but I highly doubt people know what a Panerai is. Also like how the 3 buttons are on the same side and not protected by the bezel. Rotating bezel? No thank you, I want a watch, not a chronograph.
Dose it have BP/EKG functionality?
"A massive 48hrs of battery life." Garmin chuckles.
Pre-ordered Watch Ultra for $220. Samsung does great discounts plus throwing in an extra watch band for free, yet all the reviewers are going on and on about it being $650. I don't hear the same complaints about Apple's $800 watch though.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra is bulkier than Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, but the battery is the same.
I will probably wait for a different model with a long battery life.
At least it makes sense for Samsung to call the watch Ultra. They have an ultra phone, ultra tablet, ultra laptop.
I still can't get over the fact that Apple names their higher-end products "pro", but not the watch. The more expensive Apple watch is called ultra.
Did you run a Copilot prompt to make this video or are your writers just inept?
Both Huawei and Apple Ultimate watches has Scuba Diving mode built in them. Considering the price and function, I'd still prefer the Huawei Watch Ultimate and use it as my daily driver (I work as diver). Apple has some inconsistencies with their dive mode/app even though we paid for the function while Huawei's free...
We need to questioning who copied who. Did the apple watch copy the Galaxy gear S rectangle design from 2014, or did Samsung galaxy watch ultra copied the square design of the apple watch ultra
What about sensor accuracy? Previous Samsung watches were subpar to say the least.
I'm getting it because I currently have the watch 5 pro, which I love, but they're giving me more than I paid for it to upgrade.
With the preorder credit, and a trade in, it's only ~$300 really
Only paid $250 for my watch 7 ultra and there's already lug to normal watch bands available
thanks
No rotating? No more omnitrix cosplay? Yep I hate it already.
It looks very busy, especially compared to the Watch 5 Pro.
I did the pre order for the ultra watch and buds pro3, since its pre order they gave me $350 trade in for my 6 classic and $100 trade in for my budspro2.. $ 50 off promotion for the budspro3 if you buy the white ones plus military discount ($55) and samsung points ($15) & bundle discount ($80), total came out $370 for both. moral of the story, samsung has good pre order promotions, early bird gets the worm .
I just got it for $250 they gave me $350 for my watch 6 classic and $50 dollar discount
After trade in for the watch 4 classic and discounts i got my watch ultra for $280.00
I just watched a review in German. He said the same, you basically paying the price for Design and Material.
Largest you've worn? Youve never had a Garmin have ya?
I am glad Samsung finally ditched their laggy tizen os and started putting Google wear os again in their watches. Now only if they start doing that in tvs as well then I would be tempted to get a Samsung tv. I always get Sony coz if google os.
They should've redesign screen into squircle shape since bezel has no function 😒
No titanium bands available?? 🤯
Honestly is it really worth the extra for work out features that most people will not even use?
Workout features not really but the high waterproofness and dual band gps are genuinely really useful for field scientists
@@fakhribintang that makes sense but as i am just a basic user i went with the 44m 7.
@@kurtiskeys483 for sure dude, regular consumers who buy the ultra variants are just doing it for the sake of spending money.
Me...I am ONLY buying Smart watches and Fitness watches for the work-out-features. Everything else is extra.
The questions is, "is it really worth" the extra money for all the OTHER features, besides work-outs.
- NFC for example for mobile payments
- Spotify and Media controls
- Taking photos with gestures
- how snappy is the software? does it lag?
- how precise are the sensors? dual GPS, maps, heart rate sensor, etc.
Those are the things that matter. I have 99% of all those features on a $150 smart watch / fitness tracker. The question is, what function exactly would be worth $600 or $700? I have no idea. It's just style and hype of the product. None of the smart watches are worth their price in my opinion.
@@VladimirMizich Facts bro couldn't have written that any better. I went with the raguler 7 44mm because the ultra wasn't worth it for me. Plus i traded in my old 6 classic and with the 50 buck reserves credited im getting the 7 44mm for 57 and change after tax. The ultra would have still been over 250 after the discounts. Not worth it at all to me.
Im getting the ultra because its big remind me of the gear watch plus better screen, build, battery. An it looks the part also cheaper then the apple watch
What about blood sugar support on the watch ultra 🤔 no news on that 😢
Don't want another redesign I want a faster watch with bigger battery that can almost replace my phone!
It should have come with a titanium strap like the Huawei watch 4 pro.
No one should spend 650 on any watch. With trade-in and to ship it's coming in at net $260. It's not that expensive, especially if you've ever worn Garmin with similar specs at 900-1000.
Just order one. Been using the Galaxy watch 4 classic so i will miss the program ring
I hardly use the ring on my watch 4
To be fair, while “ultra” watches are for sure a rip off for most consumers, I think it’s worth it if you need the overkill features. I have colleagues in Earth science who do fieldwork in remote areas, oceans and diving, the waterproofness, durability and dual band gps are fieldwork game changers and means you carry fewer devices overall. I’m happy there’s an android alternative to the Apple Watch Ultra
I have a 5 Pro and although I can get this watch for $250 + tax by trading in my device, I struggle to think of a meaningful difference this will offer for me even for $250. Battery is the same, and the bigger display isn't really a pro since my 5 Pro's body practically already covers my whole wrist. And so many of those exclusive fitness features on the Ultra are so niche I have a hard time believing most Galaxy Watch Ultra users will make use of them. Yet I kinda want it, because visually it looks cool and the bump in performance would be nice. But I can't really justify paying $250 for that, especially since its less neutral aesthetic would make it a bit harder to work with a variety of outfits. And the Watch 7 just seems like a downgrade from my 5 Pro, particularly in terms of build quality and battery life, so that's not worth paying much of anything for. 🤷🏾♂️
(Yet funnily enough, the 7 has the same processor as the Ultra for significantly less, so it is the better value over the Ultra if battery isn't a concern for you, but my 5 Pro runs fast enough, so I'll take the extra battery and value.)
Very good looking watch. I'm not sure why so much negative hype
I got my watch ultra for 280 with some really nice discounts.
Removing the rotating bezel is a big no-no
How often do you really use the rotating bezel?
I pre ordered it with my trade in of galaxy watch 6 classic foe $285!
Are you kidding! The style is awesome and you can get it at a discount? I got it for $ 265.oo with a trade in. It's a unique watch. We like big, well at least I do.. Fresh new look...
and i thought the garmin fenix 7s pro is an expensive smartwatch.
Ultra expensive, but it's also for the ultra health nuts.
Bruh, where else can you find a dual GPS titanium sapphire glass smart watch with extended battery life for 650? (actually ordered mine for 379 with all the promos and trade in). apple watch ultra offers no additional benefits at addition 150 premium, stone age Garmins are in the 1000s and you can't even make a call.
I thought the price was going to be $800 considering the thumbnail 😂
Regardless watches are getting too expensive. It's better to wait for sales, also really disappointed that there's no rotating bezel.
