Great review. I have the Watch 7 44mm variant. I'm currently training for the NYC Marathon and decided to upgrade from my watch 6 for the improved gps. Battery life has been suspect, draining from 100 to 54% during a two hour taining session with the gps on. Hopefully this improves with usage.
THANK YOU for reviewing the base 7, this is the video I've been looking for. I'm so tired of Ultra reviews as if that's the only watch available. I've bought the base watch every previous year and just traded in my 6 for the 7 for $49 out of pocket through Samsung.

Duel On board GPS sensors, altimeter, barometer, compass, offline maps, walkie talkie, 32 gigs of storage, a faster processor, beautiful screen, saphire crystal, and endless customization... what's not to love?! @blacksunaccounts sure hope we do, that's what I'm counting on too. I've been sitting on my Watch3 for a long time and I think next gen will finally be enough for me to upgrade. The 3 has been very nice to me thus far lol 😝
Upgrading from the W4C 46MM, I love the rotating bezel, but I find it too heavy at times, and because of that, I no longer sleep with it or wear it all day, for that matter.
Please measure lug to lug length on the Ultra and 45mm. The Ultra seems to fit fine on small wrists. The short lug to lug on the Ultra, enabled by the proprietary connection, is a major factor probably. That's a win.
How's the battery life of the 44mm version compared to the Galaxy watch 6 classic 47mm? Does it last longer? I'm considering one of them as a standalone watch (with LTE). Was going to buy the 6 classic last year but then decided to wait for the 7 since everyone complained about battery life, and was hoping Samsung did something in that regard. The chip is supposedly 30% more efficient, but no actual data so far from people with the watch. Both 6 Classic 47mm and 7 44mm have 435mAh batteries. Do you find any improvement in battery duration? I can get the 6 classic 47mm for 250$ and the 7 44mm for 295$, so need help on this! bigger screen and better build quality vs new chip and more storage... It comes down to battery duration tbh, but no one mentions it so far.
Would you say the silver color is the safe choice, but the green is the hero color? Just pre-ordered mine in green. Love how it mixes with many of my orange and black accesories on my current watch.
Got my preorder. Upgrading from the Watch4. Long overdue. Now I realize the free sport strap I ordered is exactly the same as the one I got on the watch itself lol. I like the band though. Also got 1 year of Samsung Care here in Canada.
Can't get the Ultra anyway.....Sammy didn't think of people with small wrists. And I'm still not convinced about this one. The 6 Classic is pretty cool and the price is plummeting. I have a pristine (when I say pristine I really mean pristine...not one scratch or scuff) Watch 4 atm still with the original strap. Might sell it or give it away....people love to pay with their watch. I like this 7 but the battery is nothing to write home about and that's kinda disappointing. BUt the video is great...well done!

Great review. Right now I'm looking to upgrade my fitness smartwatch as my current Garmin Vivoactive 3 (had since 2018) now has some internal screen damage that I'm unable to fix on my own. I've had my eye on the Vivoactive 5 but have now also considered the Galaxy Watch 7 as before at the time when i got my Vivoactive 3, Samsung wasn't the best when it came to accuracy and features in health/fitness realm. I'm glad improvements have been made since. So I'm wondering how it compares to the Vivoactive 5 and which would be better to get?
I own this watch. It's great. Battery life could be better. I always use my watch to listen to podcasts without my phone on me and I get through the day but 2 days would be nicer.
Love your reviews. But the problem with Samsung watches is BATTERY LIFE! I can't leave the sensors or screen on bc it dies but evening. Then I have to recharge for 😴 sleep. I need it to last at least 2 Days so if I miss charging I can make it up. Compare 4, 5, 6 battery. . The test is full on display with your without activity. How long will the 40mm vs 44mm. Thanks
I have the watch 6 classic. I wore it for months but I've finally gone back to an analogue watch. I spent more time charging it than I did wearing it and it got old real fast. Wouldn't even consider this watch if they haven't improved battery life.
@jeoff1954 quite possibly mate. Was one of the first things that struck me, how quickly it drained. Ah well, I treated myself to a nice dumb watch to make myself feel better so it's all good in the end 😊 👍
A nice real watch is way nicer than any smart watch .You can get a smartwatch with fitness features and 3/4 week battery life way cheaper than these Samsung ones
Thank you Mike you made my day w this review. Will we see a long-time review of the watch 7 where you used it for 30 days, or 2 months? Happy to see a better sensor, sad about the battery but then again, it could be worse.
My watch 2 active was beat to death. Never cracked the glass but never had a case and the outside just got torn up from bumping things. Wore my watch 5 I out a case on it and it's flawless to this day. Currently rocking the watch 6 classic which is my favorite so far. No case but the way it's built I feel like it will hold up, probably end up with some scratches on the sides over time.
Honestly I think it is not the right time to buy any of these new watches. Personally, the sensors are not accurate as they should be. Probly something about the algorithms. Had an Watch 4, 4 classic, 5, 5 pro, and compared it to the watch 6 classic. Same. Guess they should improve their results instead adding some cool new features that arent accurate as it seems. Gonna wait some new software updates for the 4Classic (if there will be) or some reviews that can actually update the real "sensors state".
I went for the 44mm 7. It feels like a very refined and polished iteration at a very fair price. The Ultra looks amazing and will be a mainstay in the line up. Will grab one a few iterations later when there are more points of difference to justify the cost.
Anyone else feeling weird about the FE getting 3 updates and my watch 4 using the same chip only getting 1 more update after oneui 6 releases? The FE is inferior in many ways to my watch 4 44mm

@arun2686 I can't speak to the battery but I have a very small wrist too and have the 40mm. Still a very big gap I'm disappointed the gap is so noticeable. I feel it's definitely a design flaw with the new hinge design.
@arun2686 I read somewhere recently that the 44 mm size has 20-50 % or somewhere around there lasting wise battery compared to the smaller 44 mm size. If it's true, that makes sense because the 44 is the bigger size
I really want to buy a new smartwatch, especially this one. But, I have seen some tweets etc where they say that now Apple Watches actually can detect few illnesses and alert in advance. Is the same thing available on Galaxy Watches too? That is a huge dealbreaker for me and many others too. Please let us know. Thank you.
GW6 owner here who ordered the GW7 44mm LTE. Main reasons are the faster processor and dual frequency GPS. Don't really like the ultra look and it is getting too expensive / bulky for not many extra features. Would have been nice for a better GW7 battery though.
I just got mine today and soon as i put it on it was so much comfortable on my wrist than the 6 classic I do miss my rotating bezel but so far I'm liking the watch
got my Watch 7 44mm delivered yesterday.. still have my Watch 5 Pro with the D buckle band-the best band.. the new push button attachment for the Watch 7 watchband is terrible-no, make that horrendous- at least the one I received is ..they couldn't leave well enuff alone.. I choose the Watch 7 44mm over the 7 Ultra- it was overkill for me with things I had no use for as I compared them though I always get the Classic or Pro models.. satisfied with my choice.. traded in an old Watch 3 and with discounts got it for $103.99 + shipping + taxes total 126.46 so at that price 'had' to get it... all the watch faces and data from my Watch 5 Pro transferred over to the Watch 7.. great video as always
What has your battery life experience been so far? I'm not sure I understand what settings he's referring to when stating one day battery life. I have the original Galaxy watch and can get almost 3 day's while the watch is not on all the time.
Just ordered a Galaxy Watch7 in the silver 44mm variant. Finally upgrading from the Watch3, although i will miss the physical rotating bezel and the cool mystic bronze color. I'd like to see a comparison with the new Garmin Venu and Vivoactive watches when they come out later this year.
Nice one... Tks. I have a question. I want to leave my phone at home & go for a RUN while using this watch in LTE mode & listening to music using galaxy buds through Spotify on the watch & at the same time wanna track my Run via the watch app. Question : How much of the watch battery do u think will drain for a one hour RUN if my watch is 100% charged when i started my RUN? Roughly 50%may be?? Can you lemme know pls. Coz the only reason i am considering to buy this watch is for the above requirement.
Hi, Mike. We're a few days on from when you posted this so I have two questions regarding GPS accuracy. First, have you done any further testing since you posted this to see if GPS accuracy had changed at all (or maybe in a tougher location with trees/buildings, etc.), and second, which size of the GW7 were you using (40 or 44)? Thanks for the great reviews!
My silver 7 arrived today. The white sport band is sharp looking, but black band definitely dresses it up a bit. Have leather strap on order for dressier occasions.
@@RB13560 not sure to be honest. Was expecting a bright shiny silver. Instead it's more of a brushed aluminum look. It looks nice, just not what I was expecting.

Awesome! Great review! One of the first reviews with details! I have had the watch active 2, 5, and 6. I kept leaving them aside due to lack of accuracy for GPS and heart rate. They were okay with the active 2 (for the time), but really lagged after that. I have been using Garmin 55, Polar, or a Garmin 165 recently. The Garmin watches have battery life and decent accuracy, but they are so cheap in build quality etc. Great to see Samsung finally nailing it on some accuracy issues! I ordered one already and will get it next week! I don't worry about the battery life. I have a solar powered Seiko dive watch for vacations, and the Samsung's charge so insanely fast.... like you said "charge it while you brush your teeth or something." :) The Ultras are just too big . Watches that big remind me of a radio watch I had when I was a little kid. It was HUGE, but it was the 70s, so it did not matter:)
I really like the Watch 7! My problem is that I used to wear a sportwatch like the Huawei GT (1st model), which still lasts 10 days after so many years, therefore the battery life of 2 days seems so low. I would hate to have to recharge the watch every 2 days. I would get rid of the AlwaysOn display and use the phone mainly to make/receive a few calls, send a few quick text replies, or just use the GPS to track fitness activity and monitor sleep, leaving the 24/7 heart rate monitor on.
If I can share my opinion with you...... If battery life is an important item for you - have you looked into any of the Garmin watches? The Venu 3 is a fantastic watch that will last multiples of days (5+) with the display always on. If you think you will get 2 days of use from a Galaxy Watch (either size) with the AOD off and the functions you mentioned - you might - but very likely it won't do that for you consistently. This is a device that needs to be charged often. I wear my Galaxy Watch over my Garmin primarily because the Messaging features are far better on the Galaxy than on the Garmin. BUT, if I am traveling to another state and will be away for a few days - the Galaxy gets left behind so I can enjoy having at least one device with me that doesn't need to be charged every damn day.
@@HeyElliott My idea was choosing between Huawei Watch GT 4 and Galaxy Watch 7 44mm. Garmin Venu 3 is over 400€, it's way out of my budget. I'm thinking about Buying on Amazon the Galaxy Watch 7 and trying it for a week. If the battery life won't be that great for my usage, I will return it and buy a Huawei Watch GT 4, since I already own the 1st version.

As a Galaxy Watch (1) user, I think it'll be a nice upgrade and a lot better value than the 7 with similar longevity. I'm very torn which size to get but pretty sure I want the slim (bezelless) version. Feel free to tell me your opinion on this.
Hello, it is a very nice video. So I ordered W7 44mm. It will be delivered next week. But which programs do you recommend so that I can make such a measurement comparison with W5pro? on ali 25 dollar and the watch dit more.
@ColeM40 I have the watch 4 classic and was considering the watch 6 classic a while ago, but mine has been great since I got it
Actually, the default start for individual activity (whether to count down or manual start) has been released for months to the older GWs.
Upgrading from the W4C 46MM, I love the rotating bezel, but I find it too heavy at times, and because of that, I no longer sleep with it or wear it all day, for that matter.
Samsung removed Powershare!! That's a unforgivable downgrade!!!
Please measure lug to lug length on the Ultra and 45mm. The Ultra seems to fit fine on small wrists. The short lug to lug on the Ultra, enabled by the proprietary connection, is a major factor probably. That's a win.
You never fail to give the best reviews, keep it up 👍
Thank you for your kind words!

Saw that you have a racquet. Is it durable enough to play tennis with?
Meh, was interested in Blood Pressure monitoring. But you didn't mention that. Also the battery running out after 1 day is useless for me.
I WAS WAITING FOR U LET'S GO
Got a watch 6 through half price sales im happy with it 😊
Would you say the silver color is the safe choice, but the green is the hero color? Just pre-ordered mine in green. Love how it mixes with many of my orange and black accesories on my current watch.
I just got this watch for $48 during Black Friday afrer a trade in. Pretty happy about that especially after watching this video!
Got my preorder. Upgrading from the Watch4. Long overdue.
Now I realize the free sport strap I ordered is exactly the same as the one I got on the watch itself lol. I like the band though.
Also got 1 year of Samsung Care here in Canada.
Is it worth the upgrade, hows the UI smoothness
Yup it is. I do feel the difference. @@arjunmohandas8870
The UI is soo smooth. Just got mine yesterday.
How is battery life?
@@grigorirasputin425Not much of a different. With GPS ON, the battery dead in 1 day.
Best review till now❤
47mm was an automatic no-go for me and and my 6.5inch wrist with the Ultra. Picked up the 44mm watch 7.
hello. we have the same wrist size.. can u tela me is 44 fit good. or 40 maybe better?
I ordered one today 44mm for 116 with a trade in on a galaxy watch 4. Can't wait to check it out
Dear Mike, Thank you so much for this video. It is so useful.
Glad it was helpful!
just had a free upgrade from my carrier from the S22 Ultra and watch 4 to the 24 Ultra and watch7, design and matterialsd look to have come, leaps and bounds. they are both very nice. i have to wait for my case to arrive before touching the phone though as i am far to unlucky hahah ! thank you fpr the review of the watch, the extra storage is an excellent feature and ive always been a sucker for saphire crystal and the olive greeen is perrfect !
Thanks
Would like to know what the battery life is without AOD, GPS and NFC activated
Not a lot
I still have the original Galaxy Watch and works great!
I have the watch 6 classic. I wore it for months but I've finally gone back to an analogue watch.
I spent more time charging it than I did wearing it and it got old real fast.
Wouldn't even consider this watch if they haven't improved battery life.
How often were you charging it? I can get almost two days out of mine even with the always on display turned on.
@jeoff1954 nowhere near that for me. Battery would be on 10/15 % by the end of each day. AOD always off.
@@mrmurder75 sounds like you might have had a defective one
No case but the way it's built I feel like it will hold up, probably end up with some scratches on the sides over time.
been waiting for this! thank you!
Best review of watch 7, covering all points especially the way you showed comparison by graph…..
You got a new subscriber Mike…

Mike is getting busy with these samsung launches 😂

@@MikeOBrienMedia hello there, hi mike, here from kuala lumpur
@@MikeOBrienMedia i have small wrist and even with 44mm version to its last hole on the strap, there was some gap..so the samsung representative suggested me to go with 40 mm version..since battery is only 300 mm ; how much of a battery hit is expected?all are telling only about 44 mm variant and no one speaking about 40 mm..please reply.
Thank you for making reliable videos that I know won't be annoying to watch 👍👍
Great, watch
I was using the watch 3 for a long time. I was due for an upgrade My watch Seven arrived.
Great watch
How abput the battery sir, how many hours?
Purchased one tonight. Tomorrow I will set up.
Is it worth buying?
Should I get this Galaxy Watch 7 or Watch 6 Classic for less price?
I have the 6 ckassic trading in for watch 7. It depends on what look your going for
I like your detailed reviews thank you keep up the great work.
I think getting the silver watch 7 with 2(dark grey and orange) extra straps would be the best option
My silver 7 arrived today. The white sport band is sharp looking, but black band definitely dresses it up a bit. Have leather strap on order for dressier occasions.
@@CruiserTherapyhello, do you like the silver colour, I am torn between the two 😊
@@RB13560 not sure to be honest. Was expecting a bright shiny silver. Instead it's more of a brushed aluminum look. It looks nice, just not what I was expecting.
Samsung removed Powershare!! That's a unforgivable downgrade!!!
@@edgardwill4932they removed a feature that was more gimmicky than useful and something that virtually no one used. So no. Not a downgrade, just tweaking features for what people use/want. And it allows for better health tracking.....Which is upgrade.
Nice job on the review ... I preordered the 44 in silver .
Me, too 👍🏼
Mike! Thanks for posting this video
Does it have a wifi hotspot feature? Like, can you use your watch's internet data as a hotspot and connect phone (via wifi) to it?
There are tons of third-party watch bands for the Galaxy Watch Ultra on eBay
But you can't use your favorite 20mm band from your grandpa!😊
Can i get to know about the battery life between lte nad bluetooth?
Lte will draw more power as it is constantly connected
you’re literally my comfort person i love you kislux !
I have a solar powered Seiko dive watch for vacations, and the Samsung's charge so insanely fast.... like you said "charge it while you brush your teeth or something." :)
The Ultras are just too big .
@@HeyElliott but it also costs like extra 150$
Charging every 2 days with now faster charging is not a deal breaker
@@HeyElliott My idea was choosing between Huawei Watch GT 4 and Galaxy Watch 7 44mm. Garmin Venu 3 is over 400€, it's way out of my budget. I'm thinking about Buying on Amazon the Galaxy Watch 7 and trying it for a week. If the battery life won't be that great for my usage, I will return it and buy a Huawei Watch GT 4, since I already own the 1st version.
Thanks for the review, never had a smart watch before but getting this next week as part of a bundle with the Samsung Galaxy Zflip 6 phone and also includes the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3.
Considering this or the OnePlus watch 2 or 2R. Opinions?
Wait so the watch7 does temperature?
Why is the ring 400 bucks then?
My Galaxy Watch 5 Pro = 26.99 and I preordered the Watch 7... Worth it.. Its going to make getting the Watch 9 even more fun if similar discounts are there.

Does the energy level changes throughout the day like garmin? Or it is just something that you look on the morning and that’s it?
It's a 1 time measurement in the morning
Which one should buy? Galaxy 6 classic or Galaxy 7?
Was waiting your review so much for the new watches. Couldn't decide if I need to upgrade from 6! Your smart watches review is the best!👌
I prefer the leather bands for ultimate comfort. Those silicon ones make me hot ant my rest sweat. I can also feel them on. Sometimes gets irritating.
I intend to get the Galaxy Watch 6 as it'll cost me 183 euros with Samsung's student deal. As a Galaxy Watch (1) user, I think it'll be a nice upgrade and a lot better value than the 7 with similar longevity. I'm very torn which size to get but pretty sure I want the slim (bezelless) version. Feel free to tell me your opinion on this.
You are the best tech youtuber❤
Hello, it is a very nice video. So I ordered W7 44mm. It will be delivered next week. But which programs do you recommend so that I can make such a measurement comparison with W5pro?
Can we export Samsung health measurement? Or are you doing this with a different program? I always use the modes on the watch while doing sports. I have never installed a third party application.
This looks so so so much cooler 😊
