Thanks Brian! I suppose I would buy whichever one is on sale as they seem to be so close to each other. At regular price I would probably buy the original can coat.
One thing I like about the new Can Coat as opposed to the old version is that the Evo has a 12-hour cure time as opposed to 24 hours for the older version. That's great for us folks that don't have the protection of a garage.
I find it funny, as someone who has been following these torture tests for a very long time now, that you can pick up the expensive, specialized products but the ol' reliable Turtle Wax Seal n Shine will still perform like the best of them. That was a surprising product that continues to do the more I watch these tests.
I've used both versions. Really liked the original. Scored a case for about $20/can. I owe Gyeon a good dinner. Highly profitable and looked very good. With regular maintenance and feeding, seemed to last almost forever. 10/10 for ease of use. The Evo retains the ease of use, looks even better to my eye, seems more slick. Still an excellent value. Can't comment on its durability, as nothing has changed in about 6-7 months on my test vehicle. On one of the cars I value, that's been polished and corrected to the best of my ability, the gloss is outstanding. Very good sense of depth, excellent clarity. The latter matters to me quite a bit. The product is a favorite.
I applied this to my Cayman about 4 weeks ago and the Scottish weather has been poor. The car was just washed and the beading was fantastic, i applied a layer of Gyeon Wetcoat just to be sure as a topper.
@@paradox5556 i got rid of the Cayman a few months ago and the new car got a coating of Pyramid ceramic 2 year coating which seems to be holding up outstandingly but was quite a bit more expensive than the cancoat
Thank you so much for doing this test! 👍 I was worried that the new version would be worse. From experience many products become worse as companies try cost cutting measures.
Thank you for this one Brian, I have two unopened packages of the original, if there had of been a substantial difference Id have had to bin them but with proper care/maintenance I see no reason to swap them out.
Thx Brian…just recently picked up the new evo version and I can’t wait to apply on my ZL1 as a topper. The car has a ceramic pro coating now and I am entering my 5th year so the beading is not as strong as it used to be. I believe the cancoat product has one of the strongest beading properties in the market today.
Loved the video....was expecting a little more gloss from the evo... Can coat original is what I have as main protection on my wife's car and is a super good protection but the looks really didn't improved much, I was hoping evo to change that but apparently won't
Not sure yet because I'm still watching. Just wanted you to know you guys do a fantastic job with all of your videos and your work is awesome. Cheers my friend. 👍
This is why I prefer Apex Detail BC2 for 1 year coating. BC2 is much tougher when exposed to decontamination chemicals which we must use every 3-6 months after coating anyway.
Hello, after the application how many days passed before the chemical treatment. I did a similar test, I waited 10 days Cancoat EVO lasted over 20 washes with alkaline ph14, 15 washes with acid ph2, Apc sonax ph 11 many times. It still holds up great. I noticed that after washing with an acidic KIMICAR Laser, the hydrophobicity is restored.
We have had the new EVO line here in Aus basically since release. I grabbed some Mohs EVO just after release and only just applied it about 3 weeks ago
Great video! Have used CanCoat multiple times but the only thing that lets it down is the amount of overspray you get from the atomising of it!! If you’re not careful it can end up everywhere. Even when you’re applying it 7/8ft from the car with your back turned 👎
I tried evo yesterday for the first time. It came out nice but didn’t really impress me. Application and removal wasn’t to bad but the slickness wasn’t that impressive, gloss was ok. I wouldn’t use it again.
Disappointing as Gyeon claimed 2x as much sio2 and 2x the durability. The old version said 6 months on the bottle, the new one says 12. Still a solid product though.
This is not a real life test tho. Manteinance is key to prolong any coating's durability. And in some areas where you need to paint chemical decontamination you do this once or twice a year
Is that a Sharpie on a dry erase board? My seventh grade teacher would be having a come apart! I’d give the advantage to Evo for outdoor friendly and all surfaces.
When you say "don't wash with surfactants" what exactly is that. For some of your viewers, your a teacher and may not know it, but I'm sure you do. Thank you Brian.
Foaming soaps, or really, anything that when either mixed with water or by itself is designed to break any given liquid's surface tension. Reason being is that they break up fats, greases, or any links between polymers of any kind.
What am i doing wrong? I did a paint correvtion on my f10 535d. After that i started to install the ceramic coating with the rag that came with the kit. I read the instructions snd went by them. It said that 1 car is 10-15ml but i think i used like 1/4 of the Bottle! Or even more 😢 i it felt and looked like i was wiping a dry surface so i felt like spraying some more on the rag
Just bought a can of evo. But I notice the included applicator pad is rather large. Seems like a towel this large would absorb a lot of the product. Is there a “better” type of applicator I should use? One that’s not so large, yet evenly applies the coating that not so wasteful?
What a great video , again i like it. Yes can coat is a very versatile product, specially on off label uses. The new version can also be applied to plastics glass or leather as the older? My kind regards
The original coating seems to be better though. All the patterns showing up during the car wash simply indicates the imperfection of the coating monolayer.
Do you find the applicator provides better coverage than just using a towel as directed. Noticed almost all my motions with the towel when it got cold in winter and areas i slightly missed. Coating worked great just not to appealing
About a year ago my brand new vehicle was shipped from the factory to the dealership and i asked them to not wash it before i picked it up. I took it straight home and did a decon/strip wash on it and put original cancoat on it. Since I've only hand washed it since, could i get away with applying the cancoat Evo without doing a polish? If so, what would you recommend i use before applying the new cancoat Evo? It still beads pretty well from the original application but not as it did in the beginning. Thanks!
I like your opinion on repeated car polishing. However how can I do a complete strip wash and compound to start from scratch. Doing minor paint touch up for chips etc. I currently have Turtle Hybrid solutions products on my car. Just the black polish, black spray wax and the 3 in one detailer or Turtle Hybrid Ceramic wet wax as a dryer after occasional maintenance washes. What do you suggest?
Thanks for the comparison, I've been doing research about this and trying to figure out a question: is this just for making the car shiner and looking better, or does it provide some protection like stone chip while driving? Thanks!
Would you take this over the Fusso Coat? I know they are different types of products but just looking for something to apply DIY to my car about twice a year for protection
This slide edge of the new evo , do you think can be translated as (( double durability)) in the real world as stated? The good thing as that,at least in here in Europe, the new line has the same prices as the older line, witch now is in a huge sales here 40-50% off until stock run out
I found that Immortal is easier to apply. CanCoat mists more and you absolutely can not apply outside where even the slightest air movement will get “overspray” on unwanted areas. Even in my garage/shop under very controlled conditions I noticed a fine hardened spray on the glass that needed 0000 steel wool to remove. I did not notice that with using Immortal. Wipe-off/ leveling I found was very similar. Just my two bits.
Great video, Brian. I've seen several other reviews of this product and yours is probably the most objective. So much so, that I might have to try some of the new Evo version on one of my cars. Keep up the good work.
Do I keep reapplying every few weeks/months or do I need to wait a year? I can use any topper after a maintenance wash right? Should I be applying a topper after every wash like seal n shine or some quick detail wax spray?
If anything apply 2 or 3 coats with what ever recommended layering time then, it'll be super durable. There's no need too, just apply this and enjoy not having to apply something after each wash, nothing will make this look any better, and will only clog the coating, if you want to do something each wash just stick to a simple wax and qd each time.
Way too much product, IME. 2-3 sprays covers half a hood, as on their videos. I applied 12 car-layers and had product left. 8-9 months protection with the original. I finally used up the can on a lawn tractor, lawn mower, glass shower doors, etc - it’s hard to use it all in the stated 6 months shelf live. Though mine was fine after a year when I used it up. Evo would be used next time, if needed, but I moved to Mohs Evo after the 9 months with original CanCoat.
Is there any reason I would rather use this ( or the EVO) instead of say a Turtlewax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic spray coating or Graphene liquid or Flex spray? Is all I would get is a couple months more duration, if that?
The can coat is a much more durable product than the hybrid solutions as it's a legit ceramic coating. But regular wax & sealant the hybrid solutions will be superior to that.
Your thoughts on the change? Worth buying the upgraded version?
Def worth tryn
Thanks Brian! I suppose I would buy whichever one is on sale as they seem to be so close to each other. At regular price I would probably buy the original can coat.
