Good video. I like that both you and Yvan don't want to oversell products but instruct people on how to use them effectively. Coating the wheel with graphene ceramic helps keep it much cleaner and easier to clean.
Thanks I appreciate it!! I think it’s important to be honest and show that not all fancy detailing chemicals are as important as many detailing entertainment videos make them seem. And yes that’s a super good point, a good protection will certain make it easier to clean!! Thanks for watching!!
This is so true! Some other company told me that u need to spray iron remover all over to the car to loosen up the iron particles rinse it off and then use a clay towel to take off the iron particles
Yeah well a lot of iron removers are not compatible with a clay towel so they have to be rinsed off before claying. That’s why I will never go back to those iron remover now. Thanks for watching!!
Great video as always Will! It’s true that we are often told we need to use tons of iron remover for nothing. Good on you for helping your viewers save time, product, and $$. Really cool you got a cameo from Yvan!!
The thing is, you can use an APC instead of iron for wheels etc, but the iron remover is actually more gentle than the APC to coatings and sealants. Repeated use of APCs will degrade coatings.
I haven’t seen a good quality APC like All Clean to degrade coatings. APC is preferable because it actually cleans much more than iron removers and is much more cost effective. Thanks for watching!
@ With repeated applications, any strong alkaline chemical will degrade any coating. Might take a long time, but it’s simply factual. I also don’t think APCs clean better than wheel cleaners with iron remover. Koch Chemie MWC cleans my wheels 90% touchless and Adam’s W&T (3x more powerful than All Clean) can’t touch them without agitation. I agree they are expensive and stink though.
Good points. I use a dedicated iron remover only once a year in the spring. However every 6 months or so I'll use a car shampoo that contains a mild iron remover (e.g. Gyeon Restart Wash).
My question on the wheels is really are either cleaners (iron remover, apc) necessary. Clean the wheels with a good quality shampoo. Check cleanliness and use chemicals then. A lot of that brake dust will be washed away with soap. Could be wasting money on chemicals that may not be needed at all.
That’s a good point! I think that’s really just up to your preference and how dirty the wheels are! I do rinseless wash on my wheels when they’re not too dirty and use APC when it’s dirty enough, since APC is much more affordable than iron remover. Thanks for watching!
I bet if you used the iron remover on the wheel after you used the apc . you'd still get a reaction which means that there is still iron contamination. its necessary but maybe only twice yearly . its supposed to be used as decon only not for frequent washes
A 16 oz Iron Removal bottle can run $18-24 from a brand name. Use it once a year is sufficient if you wash your car every two weeks. I wash my car once a week. Save your $$ and get a $8 wheel cleaner will do just fine.
I use sudlab wheel cleaner for my wheels not scrub the wheel too much. For now works beautifully but the product quantity isn’t adequate. But awesome information you are using a shop air blower or what to dry the wheel?
Nice yeah it really easy to get trigger happy with those chemicals, I do the same as well sometimes. I like to use compressed air to blow off puddles around the lug nuts then towel dry. Thanks for watching!
There are two things that are required for effective cleaning: lubrication and agitation. Everything else is not necessary. Some of it helps, some of it speeds it up but not “necessary”. A good soap, brush and water. That gets 99% of a vehicle clean. 😊😊😊
Iron remover is necessary in my daily detailing.. especially for wheel cleaning; not " tire cleaning" .. But some wheels can be cleaned with basic high viscosity soap and a little degreaser sometimes. Iron remover is worth every penny I spend for it... I buy it by the gallon now... Each car is different so each cleaning requires different chemicals... Iron remover is a must have in the arsenal...
I definitely agree that iron remover is necessary and is a must in the arsenal, but just not at the frequency that many are using it in, which is every time. Thanks for watching and sharing!
I’d like to see someone spray and rinse and re spray and see if it doesn’t anything. And also spray and use clay towel, rinse and re spray and see the results
Wait, you use the Iron Remover for paint on your wheels? This is a waste of money. Their are more aggressive Iron Remover special for wheels, but I wouldn't use that on the paint. I think you have to make a distinction. And I doubt that the two products you used will do much good on a less well-maintained wheel than the cleaner specially designed for it. I do agree that you shouldn't overdo it, though.
You would be surprised how well it cleans. I find the products specially designed for wheel to just be convenient because they’re ready to use and user friendly. Thanks for watching!
I feel the same way about "drying aids", I've never once needed an "aid" when drying my car. Spraying a chemical isn't going to make the car more dry, just seems like a scam.
@@isaacstacoify I personally don't dry my vehicles with a towel, I use a blower. If you think that the purpose of a drying aid is to make a car dry faster (whether you believe it works or not is irrelevant) then I'm not the one drinking here.

Thanks Jefferson I appreciate it! Just got a new lens🤫😆
That compressed air duster is the real MVP here! What a cool tool!!!
Haha that thing is so convenient! I don’t just use it in detailing as well… so useful! Thanks for watching!
Great video Will. People sometimes forget Iron Remover is the 2nd most expensive chemical behind actual ceramic.

Gods job, Will. challenging the status quo. I rarely use iron remover unless I plan on coating the wheels or vehicle.
Thanks Bruce!! Hopefully it saves people some time and money!
In our first roundtable you mentioned detailing a 911 would be your dream car, did you just fulfill your dream come true 🥳
Haha yes Oscar you remember!😂 such a joy to wash and just relax!
Although it’s not a dedicated Iron remover I like using crystal wash in between and also make for a good prewash and is very cost effective

When spraying it all over the vehicle there's a good chance some of it's falling off the vehicle without removing a single iron particle.

Its clean, but did it removed the iron, are you cleaning the tire or are you removing iron..you not making sense?
Iron remover doesn’t actually remove any iron, it reacts to the rust around it.
I feel the same way about "drying aids", I've never once needed an "aid" when drying my car. Spraying a chemical isn't going to make the car more dry, just seems like a scam.
The drying aid isn't used to help your car dry faster, it's used to act as a lubricant between the towel and the paint as you wipe down the car.
