I'm a choral director in Canada. With covid, I was facing a crisis. How could I keep my students singing through this trying time, and how could I keep involved in the greater choral community? This came along at just the perfect time. I am very proud not only of my contributions, but those of my friends, and those of my students. I always told them that choir has the ability to bring together singers, not only in the community you live in, but globally. Unfortunately, covid broke my program, and the school is focusing on instrumental music now. HOWEVER, the students involved with this and one other virtual choir project we did with the high school will always have this to look back on. Sing on everybody!
My chorus teacher almost joined this but she chose not to because she thought she might mess up and she even said today that she would've changed her mind and this is beautiful and the effort put into this is astonishing I want to do a virtual choir or chorus but I'm going to try arranging one for my teacher even though I'm a 6th grader lol
It’s been 3 years since I sang alto 1 in this choir, and I’d say it’s still one of my best accomplishments. Still the biggest project I’ve ever worked on. It gets stuck in my head all the time even now. I’m so glad I was able to take part in this! 🤍
If someone asked you, "Are the land masses on top or our planet uniquely shaped?, You'd probably say "no" (meaning- there's nothing to them, they are just there). What if I told you they where arranged for a purpose for us to find and understand one day? In 2010 using Google Earth (best to use that year if you look all this up on Google Earth to try it for yourselves) I discovered Our Planet AND Google Earth TOGETHER - Tell the SAME STORY of CREATION, that matches the BIBLE PERFECTLY. Our Whole Planet is covered with WATERMARKS. They are in the form of PICTURES AND COMBINE THEM ALL TOGETHER AND THEY TELL THE STORY OF CREATION....AND THEY EVEN SHOW A IMAGE OF GOD HIMSELF (the Creator of this Fantastic Discovery). Please I'm begging anyone who took the time to read all of this to come see what I found and let me prove it to you once and for all God is as real as you and me. Come see what I found and then please help me tell others because TH-cam and the atheists are doing all they can for you to not see this. It changes everything. th-cam.com/video/WwSAHhbOHlg/w-d-xo.html As hard as it is to believe, I promise you, what I found will convince you. Please give me a chance to prove myself. (YOU MUST WATCH ON A COMPUTER MONITOR, NOT YOUR CELL PHONE! THERE'S DETAILS YOU'LL MISS USING A CELL PHONE).
I had to read the comments to find exactly the one I was thinking in my mind. This one was the one. THANKYOU for saying it for me. But one day, I will be singing with those legions of angels and humans, with voices blending in the most beautiful sound in all of time and space. That is heaven indeed.
We played this song as the visitors left my mom’s funeral a little over a year ago. She was an organist for over 50 years in the church where her funeral was held. I know she enjoyed the harmonies of this song and was smiling as all of her friends walked out of the church. She was a force and I miss her every day. ❤️
I was fortunate to be a part of this, myself and about 17,000 other singers submitted our videos during Covid when it was unsafe to sing with our own choirs and chorales. Being able to participate and sing this beautiful music was a blessing. I am grateful.
I keep listening and listening and now think; this is not only worthy of a Grammy, but even more so a Nobel prize. Yes the Nobel Peace Prize. Eric and his team brought together the HUMAN race from 129 countries to make beautiful music, regardless of religion, sexual preference, skin color, nationality, and it is one of the best things I have heard in my life. Well Well Done!
My daughter was asked to participate in this by a dear friend - one of the beautiful sopranos. my friend hasnt seen it because she is fighting for her life...one of the COVID frontliners who fell ill. For too long a moment, it was touch and go. I don’t really believe in signs but seeing this made me believe she will get better. There is hope in music and beauty. Thank you for this, Eric 💚
Maris, I hope ur friend gets well soon ! I got the Covid Feb 14th, before anyone knew what it was. Later I was tested positive. It was really hard! I still have lung problems/fatigue/lost my alto voice. I am a old woma W/ many, many health problems. UR freind will sing again! We need her buetiful voice.Have the hospital play this on a loop 4 her. I believe this song has healing powers !!! All u all r in my prayers... ❤🎵🎶 God speed. 💚
@@haya-rj7cj Ohh! I guess I read it 2 fast & didn't comprehend. Thank you 4 correcting me . I hope her friend gets well soon. It was really hard getting over Covid. But if a sick old women can make it, I pray she will 2 ! ❤ 2 all ! God speed...❤🎵🎶
This is beautiful. You can’t hear Color. You can’t hear Race. You can’t hear Sex. You can’t hear Religion. You can’t hear Age. You just hear the voice of the human spirit. Thank you all for opening the portal of human possibility and defining the meaning of one.
I wish every radio station, music venue, etc in the world would play this to the whole world over and over until it would sink in that beauty and wholeness and sanctity could be ours if only we would get out of our own ways and allow it to be! This music brings me to tears every time I listen to it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Eric, to all the singers, the technicians, to everyone who had a part in birthing this masterpiece.
One of the Sopranos here!! My Mum heard this on Classic FM in the UK a few days ago and immediately called me (I live on the east coast of the USA.) "I just heard your song on the radio! " she said excitedly. Her excitement made me very, very happy. You see, just over a year ago, my Mum had a major stroke that has left her paralyzed down her left side and she has been suffering from major depression because of it - she now lives in a nursing home and has to rely on our brave frontline workers to care for nearly all her needs. I hadn't heard her be this animated in almost 18 months. So, to bring this much joy to my Mum, I am beyond grateful to Eric Whitacre; his beautiful wife, Laurence; his team; and all the other 17,571 singers who dedicated their time & commitment to making a beautiful piece of art that made at least one lovely lady happy. Thanks to everyone involved. xx
Check out music therapy for folks who have dimentia. I made an mp3 player for my grandfather and he truly enjoys it. The familiarity of music brings back memories and helps him communicate and get in touch with his emotions. God bless you and your family. Here's a link to one: th-cam.com/video/4Zo_JQZo3Y0/w-d-xo.html
I come back to this song often and was so honored to be a part of it! I found out about it thanks to another member of my chorus. Several of us submitted our contribution to this.
I wasn´t sure, whether I could listen through it all without crying. Now I know: I can´t. The sheer beauty is the one thing. But the idea of so many people singing gently as one. poeple from different nations, cultures and religions - as one, while the world around seems to become crazier and hatefuller every day, is such an incredible sign of hope and love. Thanks to you all, my fellow singers from wherever you are! Thank you so much, eric whitacre and team. Love from Germany! (Stephanie Dormann)
I saw the story this morning On CBS Sunday Morning. With tears in my eyes after watching the performance I type this. What a wonderful thing. Congratulations to all involved. Very moving.
I saw the special on CBS Good Morning program this morning. I have been listening to it over and over in my backyard this evening loudly so if anyone was out they too might hear it. I sent it to every one on my email listing so they can enjoy it also. It is such a beautiful, melodic and peaceful piece, I cannot get enough of it. Thanks to everyone for supplying their parts to make this such a masterpiece! And praise to the engineers that put it all together for everyone to enjoy!
I watched the story about it on CBS Sunday Morning (July 19) and the finished piece here, and I had big ol' hot tears streaming down my face both times. It feels weird when I do it, but I can't help myself. It's as moving a piece of music as I've ever experienced, I think.
I'm one of those 17,572 videos. The words and music just melt my heart every time I sing or listen to it. I really can't just listen to it without singing it after all the rehearsing and video takes. It was an amazing experience and I feel connected with 17,571 other singers from around the world during a time when our world is in such turmoil. Music truly is a universal language!
This morning I learned of this. Texted my daughter who has a great voice. "Did you hear about this?" Response: Dad , I'm part of this. So beautiful. Incredible. Just wish there was more.
The power of music and the human voice combined with angelic lyrics which moves our hearts to cry can only be gift from God the creator to heal our hurting world for such a time as this. United in perfect harmony ....and this isn't even heaven yet. We can only imagine!!! Thankyou for this healing balm everyone!!
I am a singer in high school. I watched this video today and had chills down my whole body. I also had tears my eyes because I know that what we do as singers brings people together and has the power to make them realize that hate can disappear and we can love one another through the power of music. Thank you for making something so beautiful and sharing it with the world ♥️
The Fox That is in no way what that comment was saying. It’s “brainwashing” people similar to you who drove me to write the comment I did. Music can allow for messages of peace and happiness to heard, to change an audience. We are not being brainwashed, simply trying to rid some of the hate that exists. So please take your “brainwashing and propaganda” somewhere else.
The Fox seems like you just hate what they did. Please take your negative energy elsewhere and let these people be proud of what they have accomplished. Any performance is one to be proud of and clearly ALL of these people have done something amazing that you just don’t know how to appreciate. I at least hope you can see some of their talent and those are my finals words to you.
Was this work absolutely beautiful to listen to? Yes. Did it bring tears to my eyes? Yes, but this singing will not stop real hate. Perhaps you have a superficial understanding of why people hate each other. This world is not made up of "one" people, we are all different and unique. Why do you think everyone is talking about diversity and inclusion; answer: it's because humans are not all the same. We have different values, morals, and different needs -- and when these values clash we get conflict, brutal conflict. Revolving this conflict with take a lot more than just singing to resolve.
@@erikshure360you’re entitled to your opinions. Please stop shitting on others in the name of DEI and virtue signaling. The world has lost its mind- we need all the unity we can get- different cultures have come together before and will again.
My child, my beloved daughter is one of the soprano singers in this heavenly, angelic, transporting music. Here is a taste of heaven. I feel blessed to listen, even from distant lands. Thank you!
Remembering a time of sorrow, sadness, loneliness, courage, beauty and love.. after 3+ years this still brings me to tears.. thank you for bringing this to the world. Your voices bring out the best of humanity ❤️❤️❤️
I saw a piece about this on CBS Sunday Morning today, and I can only say that I am blown away by the beauty of the music, the lyrics, and the voices. And whoever designed the visuals of the people coming together. Just wow!! It reminds me of Pangea and the way the continents used to be united as one huge land mass. We are indeed all in this together!! ❤️❤️
In our "after party," Eric told us that the visual metaphor is based on the Japanese artform of Kintsugi--repairing brokenness with gold (or in this case light) but always displaying the scars.
I saw the same CBS interview and cried throughout the premier...I’ve performed several of his beautiful pieces with a live choral group and this new one just was beyond describing other than my tears of joy at witnessing such beauty❤️ hope there’s a VC7 so I can participate! Thanks sincerely to the many talented people all over the world who brought this marvelous gift to us❤️ Eric Whitacre is a treasure ❤️
Mary Jo Henretty-Jornales me too! I was so moved, I immediately got on TH-cam and found this page! This is something so needed in these turbulent times.
In the far distant future (100's of millions of years), the continents will again form into one big supercontinent. By then we will be either gone entirely, or will be something unrecognisable to the species we are now. My mum sings in this, a special moment in our brief little time on this planet :)
I happened to turn on Sunday Morning at just the right time and was so moved by this. Thank you to all the beautiful voices and Eric Whitacre. Now, when I'm having trouble finding the good in humanity, I have someplace to go to be recharged.
I've sung in choirs some 32 years and have conducted a church choir for about 6 years. I love composers like Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjielo, Dan Forrest, Rob Gardner, John Rutter, and others. This was my first time doing a VC. What a privilege it was to be a part of this! While singing solo and submitting a video recording pales in comparison to a real choir experience, I enjoyed the unity of this unique experience. After eight or nine takes, and staying up until 2 AM the day before the deadline, I added my small Bass II contribution and became yet another point of light amidst the sea 17500+ other singers and signers who shared their talent and love for good choral music and the beauty of artistic expression. Well done to all my other virtual choir mates, to the production crew who put it together, and especially Eric for composing it! I spent over an hour listening to this marvelous recording again and again Sunday night while reading everyone's beautiful comments and contemplating God's goodness. I strongly believe God inspired Eric to write this piece precisely at a time when the world needed it the most. God was not surprised by the pandemic, by riots, divisive politics etc. I believe he prepares beacons of light like this in advance of such events. Stars shine the brightest in the dark of night. The darkness reveals their brightness all the more. Thank you all for being stars and lighting up the night. Let us all sing forever gently as one! May God bless and keep you all!
In quantum physics, there is such thing as coherence. Coherence is when a group of drummers are playing in rythym at the same time. If one was out of tune, it wouldn't sound nice. You are in fact a body of energy. Either living as a coherent being, in tune. Or incoherently, out of tune and rythym. You can move into rythym by opening your focus to the space around you and moving into a state of love. Just like these singers, singing from their hearts. And them all coming together as one to make a beautiful symphony. Imagine if all lived with love in their hearts at the same time. What World would we live in? What World would you live in? Live in love.
I had an amazing experience years ago at a vocal workshop where 3 other women and I vocalized while beating on one drum...no rehearsal, no spoken words...just voices, drumming in profound synchronicity. The entire group held the silence after we concluded, and the effect was profound...one I'll always cherish
This became a lullaby for me during many sleepless nights as an essential worker. Music for the soul of a world that has been under siege. Thank you to the 17,571. So grateful for this experience and hope it reaches millions more with its message of love and hope.
Nora, thank you for your devotion as an essential worker. I hope you will stay well and stay strong. To think this could have been handled differently so the loss of life would not have been so massive. It's all been so heartbreaking! Gallons of tears shed.
Honored to be part of it! The video is realy stunning ! I know I am somewhere in it, I cant find myself ...but knowing I am between al of that voices is enough !! Thank you Eric!!
I totally feel for you, I sung this a lot on the ward I work on - I was doing a lot of night shifts while recording this - it definitely got me through. It was nice to sing it around the hosptial :-) Hope you are okay and sleeping well now!
Me too Nora. As a music educator in public schools, CoVid took the act of singing for so long (safety first). It was so gut wrenching to not be able to sing with my kids. When I first heard and saw this, I literally cried. This also became my lullaby for sleep as well. Thanks for all you did and do.
So proud to be part of this ♥️ My hair stands up on my arms listening to it, A taste of what heaven will sound like brings tears to my eyes. Found my name!
This is one of the most exquisitely beautiful things I have ever heard... Thank you, Mr. Whitacre, for offering this moment of glory and illumination amidst all the darkness in our world today... And thank you, each one of the 17,572, for sharing your voice with us.
Angels, I heard angels. I've watched it over and over, and everytime I listen, the tears just stream down my face. It spoke to my soul and filled me with a love I've never felt before, indescribable. If only the world could come together as beautifully as this. I can't thank you ALL enough for participating sharing this beautiful gift 💛❤️💜💚💙
Being a singer who has, along with most people, lost the pleasure and companionship of singing in a chorus and church choir, this was one of the most beautiful, moving and inspiring works of art I have been witness to...it is the music of HOPE. Eric Whitacre has created a celestial masterpiece!
This is simply amazing. I cannot understand why anyone would give this a thumbs down? If you don't like it, don't watch it. Thanks Maestro and all of the singers and people behind the scenes for making this a truly enjoyable experience to watch. Thank you!
This was pure love and hope for humanity. I cried tears of joy while watching this today. So incredible...what a gift in these times. Thank you to all who worked on this project.
This made me cry. But in a GOOD way. It gives me a TINY idea of how God must feel when all these voices come together in praise and love. Amazing. I can't imagine the effort it must have taken all of those involved in this production. The editing. Watching each individual recording. Piecing it all together and being sure the timing was correct. Truly a beautiful piece. Thank you for this. For all of those involved, this was truly a gift to the world. Keep on singing!
I also noted there are kids around 12-13 y/o (?) up to grandmas and grandpas with EVERYTHING in between! I just love how singing brings a whole cross section of humanity together! I wish all of us, the whole planet, could see ourselves this way.
I take and welcome your hopeful sentiment. That said, the variety of hues of humankind are all beautiful and can be seen as they are and be appreciated. The human race is indeed one; neither we nor God need be color-blind or deny external traits to appreciate, love, embrace, and respect each and every individual, color and all.
So sad that in the current situation singing together is one of the most dangerous things we could do. At least we could all sing separately, safely and have it all put together thanks to Eric.
My wife sang in this - the soprano part and I am enormously proud of her and everyone else that stood for what felt like years against a plain background with one earbud in, looking into a camera AND a video screen and sang their hearts out! Again and again and again waiting for the one that didn't have a swear word, or the dog, or their husband saying hey that sounded great babes you should have recorded it (reply "I was you #$@%!!!!") 😀 And of course a huge and heartfelt thank you to Eric and his fantastic team for making it happen. Superstars each and every one of you. I can't be the only one wishing and hoping for VC7! Well done everyone, with respect from us here in SW France
You described the process perfectly. It took me 2 sessions from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. ro record IT and convince myself IT was not going to get any better. I kept to those odd hours to avoid the barking of my neighbour's dog and street traffic. But IT was worth avery inconvinience just to head this and know that I'm somewhere there
One of my friends asked about the lyrics, as she couldn't read them clearly in the video. Hope it's okay to post them here: May we sing together, always. May our voice be soft. May our singing be music for others and may it keep others aloft. Sing gently, always. Sing gently as one. May we stand together, always. May our voice be strong. May we hear the singing and May we always sing along. Sing gently, always. Sing gently as one. - Eric Whitacre
Thank you for shedding light on the soul behind this beautiful chorale ... simple as the lyrics are, this was a feat of great design and ambition. Truly a masterpiece!
I cannot listen to this ethereal, beautiful, magnificent, piece of music without crying. This is what the angels in Heaven would sound like, I imagine. Thank you Eric Whitacre, thank you all 17,572 singers from around the world for bringing us this song of just exquisite joy. Helps me to keep going through these mad times.
My sentiments EXACTLY, now 3 years after the rough Covid shutdown. This has surfaced again by Eric Whitacre and Voces8! Don’t miss it! I specifically texted my daughters yesterday to please sing this at my funeral!! ❤❤❤❤
We need to do everything we can to regain our world and sing together again. I'm sobbing, so, so much. This is stunning. We must sing softly now but someday soon we must sing loudly, together with joy. You, Maestro Whitacre are a soulful genius. I'm in love with all of this.
This is my favorite comment. Everyone I know is connected to the performing arts and we grieve our temporary mutedness but we are NOT silent. We WILL sing , with power and healing, and until it can come from our voices it comes from our hearts.
Thanks! It was a very difficult but rewarding song (i’m one of the sopranos). This result is so so beautiful! Grateful to Eric and all other choirmembers
The 10 year old version of me knew it was a dream to help produce this kind of sound. Eric Whitacre thank you for giving me the privilege to sing as a tenor in this beautiful choir at the age of 28 years old.
I found a tenor member! Great singing with you in this beautiful masterpiece! Our voice was among the loveliest. I'm the collared one in 2:03. Blessings from Florida

Irene Shettle . Thanks for being part of our VC6 family! Maybe post your pic and I can help you look. Then in your spare time, look at each photo and screen enlarge. You won’t see it very clearly but you will be able to see faces. Good luck!
@@fr.wilfredocontreras7272 Thanks ... I don't have an iPhone or a Hi Def camera. I have downloaded the photos that one of our number put onto Dropbox with the intention of looking at them later ... but at the moment there are so many other things to do which, despite being in self-isolation due to being one of the clinically vulnerable ones and staying at home most of the time, seem not to have got done!! It would be interesting to "find myself" (I find that the repeated use of that phrase keeps making me laugh - I know where I am, sitting right here on the sofa! LOL) However, I know that I am in there, my name is on the credits, and I know that I took part in something huge and rather important ... it'll suffice. I'm not too sure where I have stored my video, so sending you a shot at the moment would be difficult. I will bear your kind offer in mind! In the meantime - sing gently ! :-)
It was enough for me just to see my name along with all of these other wonderful musicians! Thank you, Eric. What a gift during this time in our lives. Love to each of you!
More complex than you might think. The BBC interview of Eric about this composition, reveals an incredibly intricate and painstaking process www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/w3cszvbh
Thank you Maestro Eric Whitacre for this beautiful music. I am proud to be a part of this amazing choir. It is a song of love, hope, and strength for me and my husband after we have recovered from Covid-19. Music healed our souls. Thank you and love you all!
Still humbled by this music. I was with the group from invitation to conception to its culmination online. This music has never failed to bring tears in my eyes. I will never forget the pandemic and how it all broke us into pieces. How it hurted us all and made us helpless in our own time and spaces. After this music, months after I had stroke. After a couple of years, just July 27 I lost my mother. So much pain. But I always look back how this music by Eric saved my life once. I'm forever grateful to this music. It has a pain but it brings light in all darkness I was in. Thank you for the gently touching my life and to others as well. Forever thankful to the Sing Gently batch and to Maestro Eric. More music to come. I miss you all! Virtual choir 8 🌷💖💐
It’s been 2 years since I sang in this majestic chorus and I am still in tears… 😭 If you ever wanna know what the heavenly choir looks and sounds like… this is a good example… this is a song about unity… all ages, races, ethnicities… together as ONE!
Wow, the imagery couldn't have been more perfect for the song and its beautiful message that is so necessary in these times. Thank you again to Eric Whitacre and his team for allowing us to be a part of such a special project. This song is really moving, with and without words (and visuals). What a stunning composition. I'm really glad we could all come together in harmony during the pandemic. May the world sing gently throughout life's highs and lows and everything in between.

This piece never fails to make me cry... Not only is it absolutely beautiful on it's own, but thinking back to the time where COVID cause the biggest isolation most of us have ever felt and then be connected by music by participating in this project... No matter how cruel this world is, whenever I listen and watch, I think that humanity can actually be really sweet sometimes... And these little moments of togetherness are what makes life worth living.
I was fortunate to be a part of this...it came at a time after I had just lost my husband 2 months prior....being a part of this put a song back in my heart. And now, listening to it again, I cannot help but cry--overcome by the sheer beauty and simplicity of this piece. Many, many thanks to Eric Whitacre, and the many people that worked tirelessly to put 17,500+ voice together and create this. Thank you for letting me be a part of this.
I can’t believe how beautifully moving this piece is. EricWhitacre is a brilliant composer and a wonderful man. The team who made this happen behind the scenes should be applauded for their fine work on this project! To my 17,571 virtual choir friends.... blessings to you all for your kindness, generosity and friendship throughout this! Sing gently everyone!!!♥️💜💙
I remember when it was still lockdown all around, I couldn’t see my hubby who was living in a different country at that time, I couldn’t go to church, I couldn’t visit my family who was living in another city, nor could I see my friends. Music, that has been a huge part of my life was also been taken away since all choir practices been cancelled. Then I found this video. Then all I remembered was I replayed the video for many times and I cried in every time I replayed it. Thank you Eric, your work brings peace, joy, and strength in the hardest time of my life.
I have watched this many times. Each time it comforts me and brings tears of hope and joy! Such beautiful music in such troubled times. It definitely deserves a Noble Prize!
I am weeping like a little girl, yes there is nothing better than standing together in the same room and singing out...but since we can't this is the most beautiful and amazing alternative .. God Bless the beautiful voices in this piece and everyone involved in making it. I am grateful for you all.🎼💞
They say the whole is greater than the sum of all the parts! I can only begin to imagine what the whole will sound like with over 17500 singers united as one from across the globe. I am so proud to know that my voice will always be part of this beautiful universe of singers joined by their love of singing and music and mesmerised by the delicate and haunting beauty of Maestro Eric's creation in VC6. "Sing Gently" helped me realise that the pandemic may have paused our community choirs for a while but it could never silence our hearts and voices that that will soar like shooting stars at the launch of the premiere in three days time. And along with the beautiful music, VC6 has defied every physical boundary and brought us together from every part of the globe as choral communities united and gifted us with enduring friendships the likes of which exist in fairytales. No words are eloquent enough to express our gratitude for being part of this beautiful choir.

3 years later and this still gives me goosebumps.... what an absolute priviledge to be a part of this...!
He deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
Has been suggested. It is time.
Agreed!
AGREED
Our countries need this. Thank goodness for all it says and promises.
Agreed, he does deserve a Nobel prize. This was released one day after my aunt karoline passed away.. she was 66. I miss her everyday.
That was breathtaking!!! Anyone else feel teary when all the pieces started fusing together?
tough for me to admit, but yes, i did. i was surprised.
Thank you 💐 was a pleasure feeling such depth
Yes. I didn't think I would get emotional but at that exact moment I did feel quite choked up. I'm so happy to have taken part in this
oh yes, what Joy!
Yes, me as well!!! Tears Rolling Down my cheeks! I have never Experienced this before.
It’s been 3 years since I sang alto 1 in this choir, and I’d say it’s still one of my best accomplishments. Still the biggest project I’ve ever worked on. It gets stuck in my head all the time even now. I’m so glad I was able to take part in this! 🤍
I think we have finally heard what Heaven is like with legions of angels singing! So, so emotional and uplifting. Thank you so very much!
It changes everything. th-cam.com/video/WwSAHhbOHlg/w-d-xo.html
As hard as it is to believe, I promise you, what I found will convince you. Please give me a chance to prove myself.

This, in my mind is as close to the voice of God as one will come in their mortal life. Think about it...

I ❤ 🎵🎶🎵
Times this infinity and then yes
I had to read the comments to find exactly the one I was thinking in my mind. This one was the one. THANKYOU for saying it for me. But one day, I will be singing with those legions of angels and humans, with voices blending in the most beautiful sound in all of time and space. That is heaven indeed.
We played this song as the visitors left my mom’s funeral a little over a year ago. She was an organist for over 50 years in the church where her funeral was held. I know she enjoyed the harmonies of this song and was smiling as all of her friends walked out of the church. She was a force and I miss her every day. ❤️
I'm gently reminded by this that there is still so much goodness in this world worth embracing.
I AGREE!!
Agree. Especially this year.
Perfectly said! So proud to be a part of this♥️♥️♥️
Absolutely... it brings about a intense calmness and peace that I believe we all so need right now....
I was thinking the same thing!! What a musical genius Mr. Whiteacre is!
I was delighted to have this be my "I can breathe again" project after recovering from COVID.
God bless you always. Hugs.
A new life to start with!❤️
Thank you, Maggi. This means SO much. ❤️🤗

ME, TOO,
Revelation 14: 1-3. 144,000 Messianic Jews will sing to our Lord on Mount Zion. Imagine that!
The beauty of thousands of united voices brings me tears of joy and hope. May we become global citizens and sing gently together.
My daughter is in this! It’s truly one of the best examples of Hans Christian Anderson’s famous quote!, “where words fail, music speaks!”
How proud you must be x
Singing softly together speaks more loudly than all the shouting in the world.
One of the Sopranos here!!
My Mum heard this on Classic FM in the UK a few days ago and immediately called me (I live on the east coast of the USA.)
"I just heard your song on the radio!
Thanks to everyone involved. xx
how wonderful - congratulations!! this came out simply marvelously
Check out music therapy for folks who have dimentia. I made an mp3 player for my grandfather and he truly enjoys it. The familiarity of music brings back memories and helps him communicate and get in touch with his emotions. God bless you and your family.

Alto here
I come back to this song often and was so honored to be a part of it!
In total awe. I think we all need to hear this. Every single person on earth.
This is what I imagine heaven souds like
I saw the special on CBS Good Morning program this morning.
Love to you, Steffi x

Outstanding! My wife cried her eyes out and said she felt as though she was in heaven! Thanks from the bottom of my heart!!!
I watched the story about it on CBS Sunday Morning (July 19) and the finished piece here, and I had big ol' hot tears streaming down my face both times. It feels weird when I do it, but I can't help myself. It's as moving a piece of music as I've ever experienced, I think.
I'm crying! Voices from the heaven to get my heart calm and happy during these uncertain pandemic days
For my granddaughter, an angel in heaven.
There are words?
Thank you! Your voice was heard.
I was in that sea of voices too. So emotional. Such Hope in Sing Gently.

If it weren't for ME...there would have been 17,571 Singers!
Cool story!
My daughter is one of the angels singing too. So amazing!
Oh my goodness, must be so proud to have your daughter be part of something so special. Thank you for sharing.
I am truly blessed to have her as my daughter. She is exquisitely beautiful (inside and out) like this work of art. 💜
One year... this project stands as a breathtaking display of unity in a world of division.

Thanks sincerely to the many talented people
all over the world who brought this marvelous gift to us❤️ Eric Whitacre is a treasure ❤️
O My Heart… 💕 May we sing gently as one 💞
I just graduated high school virtually, without our final A'Cappella concert. This is my final farewell to high school choir . . .❤
me too! 😊 be sure to always keep on singing though; college, community, or church choirs, etc- i sure plan on it!
So thrilled and honored to be a voice of many in this amazing work of art!
George, well said my friend!
❤🎵🎶
I had an amazing experience years ago at a vocal workshop where 3 other women and I vocalized while beating on one drum...no rehearsal, no spoken words...just voices, drumming in profound synchronicity. The entire group held the silence after we concluded, and the effect was profound...one I'll always cherish
Bless you, George Firth, for these words. I needed to read them.... I send my love to you!
That's very sweet of you to say George! Thank you for being awesome! 😁🎶☮️

Being a singer who has, along with most people, lost the pleasure and companionship of singing in a chorus and church choir, this was one of the most beautiful, moving and inspiring works of art I have been witness to...it is the music of HOPE. Eric Whitacre has created a celestial masterpiece!

This made me cry. But in a GOOD way. It gives me a TINY idea of how God must feel when all these voices come together in praise and love. Amazing. I take and welcome your hopeful sentiment. That said, the variety of hues of humankind are all beautiful and can be seen as they are and be appreciated.
Again and again and again waiting for the one that didn't have a swear word, or the dog, or their husband saying hey that sounded great babes you should have recorded it (reply "I was you #$@%!!!!") 😀
And of course a huge and heartfelt thank you to Eric and his fantastic team for making it happen. Superstars each and every one of you.
I can't be the only one wishing and hoping for VC7!
Well done everyone, with respect from us here in SW France
Thank you for making me laugh out loud and startling all the birds outside!
Hope it's okay to post them here:
May we sing together, always.
May our voice be soft.
May our singing be music for others
and may it keep others aloft.
Sing gently, always.
Sing gently as one.
May we stand together, always.
May our voice be strong.
May we hear the singing and
May we always sing along.
Sing gently, always.
Sing gently as one.

I've never cried at a piece of music before, but this is just how heaven would sound like. What beauty created by the best of the human race 💙
Agree.... i cry everything I play it...
Thank you, I was one of the altos!❤️

Could not agree more! Simply amazing!
It’s been 2 years since I sang in this majestic chorus and I am still in tears… 😭
If you ever wanna know what the heavenly choir looks and sounds like… this is a good example… this is a song about unity… all ages, races, ethnicities… together as ONE!
The healing power of music is so evident here. I want it back, Lord. Please heal our land.
We want it back, Lord. Please hear your children.
This is what I think it sounds like in Heaven when all the angels get together and welcome a new soul!!!! Thank you for such beautiful music!!!
My choir teacher showed me this video and I fell in love with it
Judi and I participated as singers in Eric Wittacre's "Sing Gently As One." Over 17,570 singers from 129 countries joined in the virtualize choir. This is one way to bring healing to our broken world. Enjoy!
how does one get to participate in this? I have sung Maestro Wittacre's music and it always makes me cry.
Good to sing with you again, Ed n Judi!
@@Marybeth278 follow Eric Whitacre on social media. He posts when he does these which tends to be every few years when he feels he has something to say or add. Other than that there are tons of groups currently doing virtual choirs which can be found on several social media sites. :)
It was wonderful to sing with you Ed and Judi. We will remember this forever.
Thank you! it is going a long way toward "keeping me aloft."
Three years later, and I'm still so deeply moved by this song. So humbled and honored to see my face in there, along with 17,571 choir siblings from all over the world ❤🌍
My Daughter is a part of this Wonderful production by a Talented Conductor with a vision of a World 🌎 brought together through music, Virtually. The talent and diversify of the choir is proof there are those who will not let music die. All around this world we sing. I'm proud of EVERYONE..
I miss my cousin he died from alcohol I think of him alot 💔 my sister had breast cancer twice and is still with us today by the power of God she is healed😢😢 let the world shin show use what can be good
This piece never fails to make me cry...
I absolutely love when people from all over the world come together virtually to make music...
My only complaint was that the piece wasn't longer. All those voices together, quite extraordinary! :-)
Agreed
And this is how prayer works, even without four walls and a roof.. perfect..thank you!💜
I was fortunate to be a part of this...it came at a time after I had just lost my husband 2 months prior....being a part of this put a song back in my heart. And now, listening to it again, I cannot help but cry--overcome by the sheer beauty and simplicity of this piece. Many, many thanks to Eric Whitacre, and the many people that worked tirelessly to put 17,500+ voice together and create this. Thank you for letting me be a part of this.
Separated by covid in 2020, united as one. Man it's 2024, 4 years ago and this is timeless to prove we can all be one in harmony 🙏🏼
When we look back on this time in the years to come, don’t forget about this. Cherish the beauty of it all.

The beauty, absolute beauty, of this brought me to tears. I have no words that are worthy.
I've watched this multiple times now (can't get the tune out of my head) and EVERY time, it brings up tears. So beautiful.
Thank you,Becky Thompson, for sharing
This beautiful music with me..takes me
Back to singing in your mom's choir with
You.. LOVE MY MEMORIES...
I agree. So beautiful and also brings tears to my eyes.
There should be one zero less, Eric will faint to know that if this is predicted for VC7 next.
J B Rupam thanks for pointing this out. I must have been over excited! My prediction for VC7 😊👍

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and singing....Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward all people." Luke 2:13-14 This is the sound of that heavenly host. Words do not do justice to the sound of pure beauty. Thank you Eric and Virtual Choir for sharing your gifts. Thank you loving God for the gift of music.
It is not through more speeches, criticism, reforms or laws that we will heal this world. It is through shared experience of love and beauty on a global scale that will heal us and help us find each other . Keep singing for us, for our future. God bless you Eric Whitacre and everybody.
This is so emotional for me. Bravo to the singers, the computer artists, and especially to the conductor and his partners that had the vision and brought it to this very hurting world.
I keep playing this thinking I would get over it, but I always fall in love again.
Applause! Applause! Applause! Outstanding performance, left me with goose bumps. Thank you for blessing us ALL!
