So glad I got to be a part of this before I got cancer. I may not be able to sing now but at least I can look back at this and be proud.
No! I hate cancer! Please try to fight it away! I KNOW you can do it! You were so amazing joining this!
get well soon,I wish you the best of luck
Best of luck to you. Sending well wishes through the Internet :-)
Believe in Jesus as your only saviour and confess that He is the Lord, The Son of Father God and you'll be saved! You will see The Creator then. I hardly wait until that moment
+Coopdizzle My dad battled cancer three times in his life and won. I wish you all the strength, faith, love and all that modern medical science can muster to see you through.
5,905 singers from 101 countries, singing together in a virtual choir. The next time I hear someone complain that the internet stifles human interaction, I'm pointing them to this...
Paul, this is exactly what the Internet was hoped to be. I hope to take part in the next one.
There are more sides to it.
Over-exposure to the internet for young people = bad.
And, the internet is not universally good for everyone, for some, it makes them hurt, feel how actually people are so far away, and all that bad stuff gathered together and sensionalized.
The internet's main effect is *connection* , be it of goodness or of bad.
In a place where everything gathers, darkness is part of it too.
😀 you are so damn right!
So true!!!
Projects like this gives me some hope for the future. On top of that it is a wonderful vid and the music is beyond awesome!
This video is only 13 minutes long because a full 8 of those minutes are dedicated to the credits for all the singers. Mind-blowing.
Now I don't forget the people animating these as well.
Wow! That’s amazing!
my music teacher in elementary school showed me this video and i saved it for many years. I’m now a senior in high school and i come back to this every few years. glad it has stuck with me for all these years. makes me wonder where all the participants are now.
Same here! I saw this the year it came out in my last year of middle school, and now I'm a college graduate. It's always stayed with me
As one who participated in this mega event, I'm glad it has stuck with you both all these years. This was a wonderful thing to see when it first premiered and I hope many more get to see it in th years to come!!
Thank you one and all for your incredible Voices, you make my soule rise and praise your gifts!
This song is amazing. I have been suffering from depression ever since my only sibling and best friend passed away 3 and 2 years ago. The contrasts and crescendos fill up a part of my soul that has been empty for a while. This is the first comment I have ever written on TH-cam, and I just want to give my sincere and heartfelt thanks to Eric Whitacre for the beauty he brings to the world. I had the privilege of singing Water Night with my high school choir, and I will never forget how it made me feel so alive. Thank you so much, Mr. Whitacre.
I felt the same. I listen to his creativity and imagination through choir and the holes, that are left in me by deaths that leave me orphaned in this world through shattered silenced, are once again filled.
That's terrible:(. My dog recently passed away :.(
You need to sing more. Music is what has always helped me get out of depression. It’s the only thing that ever fills my soul.
I am playing this song as part of my marching band field show
@@EmmaHopman didn't the bluecoats do this a few years ago?
I was so pleased to have been part of this.
Is that you at 3:26?
Unfortunately, no, but thank you for asking. I was just one of many sopranos in those buildings.
I'm in that section from 3:25-3:30... bottom row all the way to the right lol
Bravo! So pleased for you.
Valerie Smith I feel like even though I'm in chorus, and I wanna be in one of these, of be so out of key 😂
I'd be like : FLUUY TOUU PURADIZZZZZ
I’m one of the 5,000+ singers on this video. Watching again, over ten years later, I still get chills! I hope many viewers are inspired to lift their voices in choral singing.
This makes me super proud to be a human being.
My choir teacher is in this video!!!
Same :D
My choir teacher from like 4 years ago did too
SAME
Just found that out
My favorite choir teacher is on the new one
The best way to listen to this is on a airplane looking out of the window and reminiscing in the glory that this world has to offer
Ben Petrmichl omg ur a genius
Marina Brouwer Omg you were so good
YASSSS
my choir teacher at my college cancelled class, and told us to watch his TED talk. I got to this video, and now I'm super inspired and energized about my future career as a teacher. to be able to conduct 20-30 voices every day would be so amazing. I would never get tired of my job
fastfoodgaming 20-30? Imagine 2,000-3,000 every day! Something to aim for. The very best of luck.
Omg omg omg my music teacher this is her brother!!!!! She fricken told us she got married so that is not her last name but that is in a place in Ohio she knows because it is her brother!!!!
fastfoodgaming sam my choir teacher did too and we practiced and we were amazing and she knew eric and showed him.. Hopefully your choir teacher did the same
Everyone you teach could be the one who saves the world, smartest person in the world clean the oceans find a new planet that could sustain life and find the ultimate cure for all deseases
fastfoodgaming a lot will be terrible
The chills are real! I repeat! THE CHILLS ARE REAL!!!
Proof positive chills exist. Meanwhile shills are having a hard time chilling out...
2:57 BAM feels
My orchestra teacher showed us this about 3 years ago, and to this day, it still gives me chills every time I hear it. What an absolutely awe-inspiring, phenomenal piece of art..
Three years? It's been out for two!
Really? My memory might be a bit fuzzy. Maybe its only been two. Sorry! D:
I show this to my students every June - They think it's pretty amazing!!! So do I!!
Me too, lesson in the power of coordinated teamwork.
I'm playing this as a song for marching band
Man, I wish I had access to this many singers. Seriously, half of what makes this sound so awesome is the sheer mass numbers of singers. Every tiny influction of every singer just adds this chilling effect. It doesn't matter if you are perfectly in tune. Heck, it's what makes orchestras have such a great sound when you have more strings. All it takes is 8000 singers and you have one of the most magical sounds that we could produce.
Now imagine this live...
*dies a little bit*
I actually just saw this live performed by a middle school choir and it was amazing.
+Reuben Spencer But they ARE all i tune thats whats great. They vibrato and stuff to change, but damn these guys are good
+Emily Sparks Haha my choir director did it last year too with his middle school choir, and this year he's doing it with the high school too!
Why don't I hear this song on the radio along side the other top hits? Damn! This is beyond good!
Isaac White because people don't know what true music is. They've been indoctrinated. They don't respect true music.
cuz modern rap takes the cake... apparently
Because .. this MEANS SOMETHING.
Modern music on the radio is about $$ and ego.. not empowerment or meaning.
Do I sound bitter?
Some times the truth comes in a bitter pill.
Isaac White no and he only has 61k subscribers! To think idiots like pewdepie have 10million or whatever he has now. How do people not know of this man?
Muse pewds deserves the subs.
It makes me strangely emotional to think about the fact that there are thousands of people from all over singing this. They all put this together without being anywhere close to each other. Music truly unites people.
So does war, death and destruction. (: jk
Words can't express how much of an impact this song had... One of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard... Immense respect to the individual(s) who put all of these videos and voices together... My only question is why this song only has one million views at the current time... You all deserve so much more... Thank you so much...
When you see this… it's makes you really believe that people can come together to create something beautiful -a better world ahead!
Fun fact for you! Each building represents a different country, and all the singers on the sides of each building are from that country. *mindblown*
Alyssa Frantz I thought it was just singers from any country just put on a building
There's no truth to this statement what so ever
There is no proof to this statement but I wouldnt say its wrong. Might be. Anyways its epic as fork
@@kattenmusen10kofficial I mean the second one had different sized globes which were each of a country
@@Brauljo Okay. I can tell you that I was very deeply involved with building and designing the city in this video, and the people are randomly placed all over.
It's like getting a glimpse at what the voice of God sounds like. Unbelievably moving!
I'm just so amazed by this. And well, by all of your virtual choirs. I can't imagine the tough job your mixing engineer has!
Jennifer Thomas Or the video editor.
mixing engineer more tho, even in this video
Not to mention the one responsible for putting the credits in alphabetical order.
i think the split the work among multiple engeneers
Seeing this for the first time, 10 years late to the party. Balling my eyes out…. Yet feeling soooo thankful. Thank you for reminding me about my wings, and how sweet it is… humanity is waking up to her highest potential.
the soloist at 1:11 won my heart haha love the richness in her voice and her sweet smile!
My music teacher had a chance to be in this.
ochoa wolf LOL then what do u identify as? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
whats ur teacher?
FOREVER WOKE coolll
Same.
It was such a pleasure, and honor, to sing with these incredible people.
And all she ever thinks about
Is being any other place than this
Cause she remembers having wings
But she's forgotten what its like to feel
A paradise of bliss
And all I want to do is
Fly
Just fly
And all I want to do is
Fly
Just Fly
To paradise
Paradise, paradise
Paradise, paradise
Paradise, paradise
Fly, fly, fly
Fly, fly, fly
Fly, fly, fly
To paradise
And all she ever thinks about
Is memories and swinging through
The sky
Cause she remembers having wings
But she's forgotten what is feels like
To fly
And all I want to do is
Fly
Just fly
And all I want to do is
Fly
Just fly
To paradise
Paradise, paradise
Paradise, paradise
Paradise, paradise
To paradise
Wow, it has been some time since I have listened to this. Thanks to all who have taken time to be so kind and jot down your positive comments. I discovered Eric Whitacre while just casually surfing the Internet for new songs for my voice students, right after his first Virtual Choir piece. The word was out and videos for a new piece called “Sleep” were being accepted. Who knew these would be so powerfully amazing. After participating in a few of these and introducing students and recording their videos for submission, I submitted an audition to sing in a production of Mr. WHITACRE’S at Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2013 and was accepted. “Fly to Paradise” videos were to be submitted that year and I auditioned for one of the short solos and much to my surprise was chosen to to sing those two words, “just fly” and at 3:26 I felt like I could have flown. It meant so much as I had met so many in New York that I had sung virtually with in previous productions. During the COVID Lockdown, we all came together, separately once again and did “Sing Gently,” the largest VC yet. Music has such a remarkable ability to accomplishment much in a person’s life. If you have the opportunity to participate in one of these productions, do it, everyone’s video is accepted and you will be forever glad you did it.🎶
That short solo gave me chills, thank you 🫡
Just so beautiful! Voices that give me a feeling of elation hearing all of you.thank you ,thank you!
It still makes my heart melt seeing my name on the list of this beautiful choir and masterpiece 🥲
I'm in this and so happy I did it...
Oh my God, this is so far beyond magnificent ... !!
humans can be an amazingly wonderful when they choose to be... :o)
I couldn't agree more :)
the problem is that too often the choose to be less than wonderful.....
***** problem is more often that they choose to be indifferent. Which is arguably worse.
This song makes me feel overwhelmed, every time I hear it I feel like crying, beautiful
This song came on my bluetooth speaker right as I summited a snowy mountain in the backcountry while tripping on mushrooms. Not the safest combination of activities, but holy hell the feeling of this song right before you reach the top of a mountain is incredible haha.
I remember being in high school and my choir teacher making us listen to this, and I remember just being emotionally OVERWHELMED because at the time I was a closeted bisexual and this song gave me hope that one day I could have the freedom to be myself and be happy. Just like. This song means everything to me.
+Caitlin Edwards Fly!
Smsjsjsjms
I see this 7 times and I still crying
It's people like this with better visions for the world with using technology in a positive way for such a negative way to bring people together
It is odd that I can relate to this in every way shape and form?
I think the one thing that blew my mind the most is when I saw all those buildings and realized that every single window that was there was someone singing. Like damn.
Another cool thing is that each building represents a country, and all the singers on that building are from that country. MIND BLOWN.
I DID NOT CATCH THAT.
Right?! Isn't it awesome?!
This song was nothing less than beautiful. I loved it. It had just the right amount of quietness and wonderful voices and then it just explodes with all this noise that I can't explain! It's *amazing*!
Once again bringing beauty to the world, for the world, by YOU and the world.
I am working to be a part of Virtual Choir 6, and this song is what introduced me to Eric Whitacre. My son marched in the Seattle Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps in 2017 and this was one of the songs they performed. So beautiful and touching.
Overwhelmingly beautiful. I'm crying.
you cryed on my dad's birthday just saying
Our choir sang this to thousands of people. Couldn't be happier with our conductor. He chose the best song.
This is pure beauty.
Beyond the words of beautiful
Another tear jerking E. Whit song. The man is a music God.
The world needs this right now. Thank you.
OMG so beautiful voices...
5,905 voices ...
i think to bring this a whole level up you should allow beat boxers to be apart of this too instead of adding your own drums
I think the reason why this song has hit so many people emotionally is because in a since we all are angelic beings that chose to come to earth to live a human life and some where in the deep parts of our soul as a divine beings we miss being free and not being grounded to the earth. I have had flying dreams all my life and still do to this day.
What? We're not angelic beings...
lmao ikr. I hate these people trying to be all deep and completely failing.
We´re more than angelic! We´re children of God! :)
ThriftyWitch Uh, no, we aren't angelic, nor will we ever be. We're children of God, and humans.
Damn . . . . tears streaming down my face . . . . 55 years old and im crying . . . .
Every time I watch this, I get goosebumps and an overflow of emotion.
Eric Whitacre, you are just simply amazing. I am so glad that I was able to be a part of this.
Listening to this.. is like biting into a york pepper mint patty! just chillingly beautiful and tasty to the soul ^.^
Haha, that's an awesome and unique comparison
thanks, I couldn't think of anything else other than that :P
***** And thats okay! XD
Yes this 🤣
Biting into a York is absolutely horrible not everyone likes mint. It was more like that feeling of being one of the best in your country/state
What heaven sounds like when open the gate 😍🙏
This was four years ago. I can't believe where the time went. I am so blessed to have been apart of this.
Love the Muslim women at about 1:14. Her smile is so beautiful. x
10:42 I cannot believe it’s been almost a decade since this masterpiece was released. I’m honored to have been a part of this incredible production. I can only hope I’ll be able to partake in the next Virtual Choir whenever it may be.
Thank you, Maestro Whitacre.
My teacher showed it to my class last year. Ever since my teacher showed it to us I've never stoped watch it. I love it!
First heard this about a year back. And every time I listen to it whilst driving it puts me in a fantastically positive mood, and .... even on a hot summers day, it gives me goosebumps. Quite probably the most perfect blend of choir and EDM I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. Utterly, utterly beautiful, I just don't have the words to adequately explain how much this song means to me.
If you like choral music blended with EDM you should also check out Michael Englehardt, particularly his Wayfaring Stranger.
Every few month I come back here and think the same thing... how is it possible this has only milion views? Cute cats gather more views. This is a work of art and deserves more attention.
"I've never heard of a virtual choir. This came at the right time for me! How much of a beautiful blessing it is!! Thankx for sharing this with us!".
Wow, just heard this due to taking a music class. This song is amazing.
My marching band did a version of this for the 4th movement of our drill this year. Love it!
My marching band did this piece in our 2nd movement and my friend sang the solos, it was awesome! beautiful to march to
***** My cousin was in a marching band that did this as the opener. Are you from Texas?
***** johnson pls no
Alexander Rosenwald What's wrong with CTJ?
We did this for our second movement this year! Truly and incredible piece
Words can not describe how breathtaking this is.
Anyone watching this in 2020? 🥺
A perfect example of the good and productive power that TH-cam can be.
May this be the future of music and art.
This song makes to want to fly to Paradise. Beautiful, I am sure this is what Heaven will sound like, many voices
Getting goosebumps. Multiple times. Me and my high school choir got to sing this, although this is definitely better.
It's been nearly 4 years. I am Virtual Choir deprived. Please Whitacre, put out a new one soon
My teacher played this for the class and i just loved it so much
Those solos though.
holy shit...that chorus was insane! This guy is a genius.
This is just beautiful it reminds you that we are all connected on the world by sharing the world and by others whose lived and came before us. We all get our wings one day and fly to paradise. I pray for the people on this earth and whose especially been affected by coronavirus. I am a septic shock survivor so I know what it likes to fight your way back to health and your life.
I can't stop listening to this. So beautiful. Miss my singing days.
My younger sister showed me this and she loves it and now I love it.
Wow, this is giving me mad chills right now!
My teacher showed me this and for some reason I felt so emotional cause I understand what the song was showing
Eric Whitacre composes choral chillstep - mind = blown!
:D
I just rediscovered this on an old playlist. I think I haven't listened to this song in nearly 6 years, but after hearing the first few notes, it all came rushing back, spilling over and engulfing my whole soul. Music is the most powerful thing.
Well, let's 'sing' this by our actions, by changing the world, by turning it into our paradise.
Well said.
Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth and it is in Heaven.
I give humankind 1000 out of 1000 points for this one. Thank you.
Most beautiful composition I have ever heard by Mr. Eric Whitacre! "Juuust flyyy!"
The harmony of voices to me is a symbol of togetherness. This symbol is broken for me when in this video I see and contemplate these disembodied voices from remote locations singing what admittedly is very beautiful music.
Bravo. Keep 'em coming, Mr. Whitacre, your stuff is exceptional.
Could not agree more Lorin
This is majestic... it shows the best of humanity, what we should all strive for. Magical.
Oh, after 6 years I see this for the first time, it's an honour to humanity to achieve this , my deepest respect
blowing me away---chills -- I think that this is what heaven may sound like.
3:50 that note oh my days
To put something together as Magical & Remarkable as this could only come from Genius Eric Whitacre & His Angelic Choir ~ Breathtaking!
and someday we will all be singing together in perfect harmony, With our creator and peace all around us beyond our wildest imagination. I am looking forward to this day of Hope.
Wow, this is so beautiful. I'm in a marching band, and our show for this year is entitled: "The Call." It's a tribute to the men and women who were attacked in the events of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. On our closer, we play this masterpiece about halfway through the closer, and it blows me away every time I hear it. I absolutely can't wait till our band goes to Hawaii and perform this to the surviving veterans from WWII. God bless you to all those who served, or who are are currently serving. :)
Music like this is seriously magic, it's like something ignites inside of you and you just feel the music flow into your veins until it touches every part of you. It's beyond breathtaking.
I DIDNT KNOW ERIC WHITACRE DID ANYTHING OTHER THAN ORCHESTRAL PIECES, THIS IS AMAZING
Incredibly beautiful.
I don't know why, but every time I listen to this song I simply have to cry a bit... Just from the thought how this song would sound in a movie...
If you want a hint what a choir of the heavenly host would sound like, this is a hint ... imagine the voices that have passed before us returning in song ... a touch of divinity, Eric, truly ... thank you so much for this and all your works here ... ONE PEACE at a time !
Really great song and so many talented souls joining together to sing about the beauty of flight and a world better than this one ...hummm, sounds like heaven.
How great it would have been if all this had been done for The glory of The Most High God. It's never too late, maybe the maker of this video will make future videos for that purpose.
Marvellous addition to the Choir's repertoire; use of the buildings/cityscape helps give a sense of the magnitude of the assemblage; and once again the terrific technology/technicians are able to blend one and all into a unified, harmonized presentation; a truly 21st Century creation made possible by the wonderful and highly valued TH-cam; thanks to one and all.
Mr. Whitacre Paradise Lost is a Masterpiece that did not get the credit it deserved. I cry every time I hear songs like Close Your Eyes, Forgotten and Bliss. Not to mention the Adrenaline from This is the Way and Libertas Imperio. It was your Magnum Opus.
I'm a writer and I'm scared that people will never know who my characters are. I don't even care if people hate them I just want them to strike the nerves in the hearts of people. What does that feel like?
Such beautiful voices! This makes me want to start singing again.
+Sarah Sequins what made you stop?
+Anon FiveThousand That's a good question! Just got out of the habit, I guess. What I probably need is a good voice teacher.
The beauty and power of so many voices made my heart swell ........and my soul soar..........utterly amazing
Thank you, Eric, for sharing your awe-inspiring skills with the world!
