    The rules surrounding alcohol are laden with BS.

    • @Crazt
      @Crazt 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +26

      There are at least two lobbyist groups fucking up real revolutions in alcohol. The temperance lobby, that's still surprisingly strong, and the alcohol industry themselves. It's amazing how closely they work together, keeping the laws overly bureaucratic; restricting innovation until your product is ripe for corporate takeover.

    • @jlaw131985
      @jlaw131985 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I understand some amount of regulation because if you do distilling wrong you can cause an explosion or make people go blind, but there's certainly some extra steps in there to support other interests...established places don't want new competition and then as mentioned, the temperance lobby still has a lot of power for some reason. Texas had weird laws about selling alcohol on Sunday until like this year. (Though after removing them, I believe all the liquor stores still are closed because they like having the day off)

    PLEASE... Long before people aged whiskey in barrels, they made distillates to drink utilizing recipes and methods unheard of today. People have been distilling alcohol for a couple of thousand years. Imagine the history and the stories you can tell! You have the opportunity of a lifetime to explore and learn. Think about distilling a mash in an old-fashioned still using an alcohol or oil burner to heat your still and distilling without having running water to cool the vapors coming off your still. That would be hard in Texas heat, but much easier during the cooler months after harvests are done. You have a licensed distillery and a passionate following that yearns for your knowledge and expertise. Make magic with what you have! You can make it YOURS because nobody is doing it. Nobody is telling the story of distillation, so get to it. You can be the ones that educate and lead distillers to learn and try new (ancient) things. Thank you!

    Is it possible to “sell” a portion of the property, either to a certain non-profit or individual, to allow construction for a whiskey vault/donations for content? Or not possible due to being bonded property?

    You could bury one set of containers and have a slopped access and then stack a second set on top with access 180 degrees from the buried ones, which would be buried flush with the ground level .

    Can you build a gazebo on the edge of the neighboring property and use that as a taste comparison spot for filming? Otherwise a pop up tent/umbrella and table for the whiskey shenanigans van

    Im so confused about these legal issues. Is it all because of the “bonded” tag or is it just because theyre a distillery at all? Kentucky must be different than Texas because our local distillery when I lived there was also a brewery. They made all of the product in the same room and they also had a taproom in the same building with a full bar of products from all different brands

    Get a reefer trailer and find a way to power it off of shore power. You will still keep the on board diesel option in case of power failure and as you need to move the trailer but as you said it will be a mobile whiskey archive thus legally safe...er.
    Also being a 53ft trailer it's a fair bit harder to steal than a truck or van.

    The easier fix is change what is part of your bonded space. I’ve ran into this with a brewery producing cider. You don’t have to have the entire building a bonded facility; just where you make it and store it. It can fall to state laws then whether you need the bonded facility to sell your spirits. Some states allow it without a liquor license and more do. Sounds like a liquor license in your tasting room can be the solve if Texas sucks for distilleries-just hope it doesn’t cost a boatload like some places. Also, the still just can’t be in the brewery space. Easy to move beer to the still. Walls are easy. It seems like you have a lot of options at your place that many of us don’t have as an option.

      His heart was never 100% in the tribe because his focus was the school, not saying he didn’t care. It also came down to some legal stuff between the non-profit and for profit stuff. Another comment here put it perfectly.
      People: I wanna do this!
      Government: hold the hell up.
