Aaron Dobbs: / bs16bicyclesolutions
In this video we build up a Chapter2 KOKO aero frameset with the Chapter2 REHI 45 Carbon Wheels and the all new SRAM Red groupset. During the build pro mechanic Aaron Dobbs will give us his opinion on this new SRAM Red groupset, while he builds the bike up.
#SRAMred #Chapter2 #bikebuild - กีฬา
First up, many thanks to Chapter2 Australia for providing the bike to the channel for this build and a long term review (between Neill Stanbury & I). Also, thanks to Aaron Dobbs, who squeezed this build into his busy schedule on Tuesday this week. Secondly, for those expecting the Elilee build, that video will come late next week / early the following. Stay tuned. Cheers, Cam
Chapter2 is back!!! Whoop whoop!!!
It is super nice seeing an expert at work and making things look easy. Neill makes bike fitting look easy, Aaron makes bike assembly look easy and Cam applies chamois cream like no-one I've ever seen.
Some good tricks there from Aaron. The one with the break hose on the back, to rotate it so the handlebars stay straight, use of the plastic bag to protect frame during bb instalation. As home mechanic will definitly use it. Greatings from Poland.
I also did note those 2 tips!
LOL. Neil shows up to present the beak. awesome.
The Dyson next to all the carbon dust is absolutely brilliant.
That handlebar / brake hose alignment trick is brilliant!
WOW masterclass from Aaron! You have NO IDEA how crazy I get over my handlebars always bending when I walk my bike out the garage!!! It was fun watching the three amigos get this build/video together
Invaluable tips and tricks he is sharing. The caliper rotation to ease the tension on the cable. Top tier mechanic.
Great to work with you, Neil and the team Cam. The build came up great!
This was way more informative than others and was in a very quick and straight forward format. Hope to see a first ride and long-term review sequence. I like that Chapter2 has loaned the frame for the review so there will be a two in one review as well.
7:42 that wasnt planned but what a shot!
Have a Chapter2 Toa, by far the best bike I've ever owned. Loved seeing this bike come together. If anyone is thinking about a Chapter2 bike... just do it. No regrets.
Stunningly beautiful, all of it !! I want a Chapter 2 Koko.
Great video Cam, real return to form with this one. Hoping for more similar content. 🤞🏼 Perfect mix of master craftsmanship, comedy relief and beautiful bikes. Good to hear the vlogs are starting again!
Watching an expert mechanic assemble a bike, especially such a beautiful machine with stunning components is like watching art being created. That is the opposite of watching me to any type of mechanics in my garage with copious swearing and tools flying everywhere.
A very nice looking machine.
Beautiful New Chapter 2 KoKo - wonderful to see the development & refinements of their Frames over the last 5+ years. Aaron on point as always demonstrating his Master skills. Looking forward to the dueling Reviews with You & Neill. Cheers😎
It is like Aaron is trying to build a bike with two naughty school kids trying to put him off 😂
I liked the headset trick so the forks don't fall out
overwhelmed, not by the new Sram red but the cleanliness of the workshop😂
I was thinking the exact same thing. The vacuum on the steerer cut was a highlight 👏👏😂
The new SRAM is pretty slick though
@@dtpapa1290 Thnaks guys @ploughmyfield
Love watching a master at work! SRAM red looks great, can’t wait till it’s trickled down to the next level
That's one super nice bike and build. That paint job... Wheels look great too. Didn't know they had their own line of wheels :)
that bike is 🔥
That is a lovely build ❤
I'm sure there are a lot of people who miss having Aaron on the Northern Beaches. Hope all is well mate.
Miss you guys too
Love a nice bike build. Nice bike btw 👌👍
There’s something special about watching a bike come together in such an efficient way
Great build vid with some useful comments through! Very nice Chapter2😊
Nice trick using the Dyson vac when sawing the fork 🤩
The connention for the brakes is definitly better. With the old you needed 2 wrenches. looking forward to see it first time IRL #MECHANIKTOO
sublime build technique
Fascinating video beautiful bike, very skilled bike mechanic 😎👍
非常細心~
Looking forward to seeing how this one goes. Looks the goods that’s for sure 👍
The rear caliper trick is amazing. I’ve been frustrated by this for so long, especially hanging bikes on the wall 🙌🏼
Nice little hack from Aaron to tighten the cassette!
Loved him actually talking about the components rather than just watching him build it
06:18 I like that front derailleur alignment tool. I wish Shimano had that.
This guy has terrible OCD. And I love it. He can build a bike for me anytime😊❤
The bike assembly attention to detail... just amazing. That person deserves a raise in that bikeshop.
It’s my own shop 😊 cheers
@@BS16Techwell, I _guess_ you can stay then. But truly, it was a privilege to watch you at work.
@@malcontent510 Thankyou
@@BS16Tech thank you for sharing your bike build routine and tricks with us all. Do you know this tool for steerer/ front wheel alignment? th-cam.com/video/EuJim6hzsFk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LsdE7GZT4cLV_FFP
Cheers from Germany!
Always warms my heart when I hear Erik Satie >:D
The tape trick!! Why didn't you put that trick on an earlier video? Or why didn't I think of that!! I could have used it three months ago when I was building up my new frameset.
Sram really wants this groupset to succeed.
Yes, there was storm of videos that went live Wednesday. Couldn't quite believe it.
@@CamNicholls was worried they had overlooked you, which would have been outrageous
@@CamNichollsI want to buy the shifters for my Rival equipped gravel race bike
4:46 Wow! I'm gonna steal this bottom-bracket-protecting technique.🤔🤨 Why didn't think of this myself!👏👏👏
The best video on the new SRAM Red 🔥 pity about that saddle tho 😜
Nice build! Interesting to see the build cost under $15K with Sram Red compared to $20k for an SL8
Bargain!
Thank you , Nicholls
Glad to see a torque wrench 😊😊😊
Dyson Vacuum cleaner..Aaron get bonus points for that.....😃 Is the background music Debussy - Clair de lune??
Nice bike! Factory greased chain. Ew, brother ew. Here I am on my fourth hour just mounting new tyres.
Nice build. Some great little pro tips in there. Hopefully you added the front derailleur wedge.
Neil is a professional bike fitter but level 0 tyre fitter 😅
Beautiful bike and nice to watch a professional assembly. Not a SRAM fan, but hoping this generation will have sorted the front derailleur. Not sure about the weigh in without pedals.
That’s an absolutely beautiful build and seemingly a very reasonable price, in GBP at least.
always a good reminder to use a pro mechanic for builds...fettle at home and have a regular LBS service to get things back to top notch....lovely video, thankyou
Nice build Cam. Lovely content as usual.
Nice build. Liking what I’m seeing on the new Red. Question on the SMP saddle. Is this the new EVO? And if so, how is this different from their other models?
The bike looks nice! SRAM cranks never spin freely though no matter what video I watch its the same story. Thousands of dollars for extra drag.
First off a great Team and a very interesting build no doubt over the next few months we will see and hear more about KOKO and Sram Red but how do BMC feel about this ? loved the build waiting for more thanks Guys.
Forget the bike build, I was just impressed he still had a _toe strap_ laying around in the shop! 🤔🙃
Where do you get the rubber finishing strips for the bar tape?
Reccomend Aaron gets a plumbing pipe cutter for cutting steerer tubes. Cleaner cut and no carbon dust everywhere
That is considered a pretty big no-no, although I suspect the objection is overstated. Pipe cutters are for soft metal, not carbon. The objection is that it crushes the end of the carbon which could cause a tiny bit of delamination. Metal does not have that delamination problem, so pipe cutters are fine if it crushes the end being cut.
I suspect a pipe cutter would be fine with carbon if you went super slow and only tightened a few ten thousands at a time so it doesnt crush the end.
9.2k US is not bad at all for that bike
Funny how he trys to sell the autotrim like a new feature 😂
Does the new FD work with the Rival AXS groupset?
Would love to upgrade my rival to the FD and the shifters ,but sheesh thats roughly about 2k € , maybe any time in the future :D
Will there still be a video to the Elves Falath Pro?
Cam I am about to build up a new trek madone 2015 would u go mechanical or electronic groupset
Nice bike 👌
last i checked, Niel Pryde n Chapter2 frames are tight with tire clearances for todays bigger tire trends. so its a no go for me (though i didnt follow if KoKo changed that)
32mm fits 👍
Did you get the free Karoo computer and if so are you going to do a review of it?
No we didn't mate. This was all done through the Aussie C2 distributer. Not SRAM direct.
Congratz to sram they finally created a shimano groupset 😂
wat r those bartapes?
Chapter2
The saddle joke made me spit on my screen
Imagine watching this to see how beautiful the finished bike looks in the end just to see the mechanic putting an SMP saddle on there ffs Cam
hahaha! Blame Neill, I was going to put on something different for the build finish. But Neill actually drove home to get the beak.
Requires a 3D printed saddle
Yeah my mind exactly
No brake bleed?
that saddle...ouch
Maybe it's because I'm used to my hambini bottom bracket.
but that bottom bracket spin looks wrong.
it looks like it's caught on something
requires grease migration
Workshop is screaming for some art 😅.
Cam there is a typo in Titel. Chapter2 is mixxed up
Thanks mate! Appreciate it. Fixed. I think I've gone crossed eyed from two days of editing.
Shhhh. Don't tell Cam about the Chatper 2 price at 10:32 . At first I thought I was going crosseyed when I saw the price.
I'm not sure I'd congratulate them on getting the brake feel right this time. Shimano has always been right. It's always had auto trim. This is how it always should have been. I assume the paid Shimano for the auto trim patent tho, so maybe won't trickle down just yet
LOL, having several patents under my belt - there’s usually a way for good engineers to work around and even improve upon someone else’s IP.
The 2019-present shifter hoods are going to look very bulky once everyones eyes/brains adjust to these new ones.
I’m going to buy the shifters for my Rival equipped gravel race bike.
Neillllllllll
Really nice bike, but the weight is a bit disappointing, considering its without pedals, cages, and wahoo mount. Is the c2 frame so heavy?
why does a crit bike need a small chainring? Go 1x
Good point. Beggars can’t be choosers I guess
hope you pre-waxed this chain
auto trim is here. I bet lot of the old Axs front mech will be made redundant
I hate that Sram updated Force before Red, so none of the actually very useful improvements (front shifting, ergonomics, braking modulation) made it into that groupset.
When will "pro" mechanics learn to stop double clicking torque wrenches?🤔
8500€ for 7.4kg without pedals... damn
Nice bike. Horrid saddle. But at about 5:16 shouldnt cranks spin bit better than that? Sorry. Watched too much hambini
So, previous AXS the brakes and front derailleur were below par and now this version has sorted it for several thousand dollars, aw thanks Sram! Not! Such a whizz, bang, pop company that dazzles with innovation but doesn't actually deliver on essential engineering.
Most gravel race bikes are SRAM, and SRAM has won every European Road Tour event this year. I’ve been gravel racing SRAM AXS for two seasons with zero issues.
15 grand what a ripoff.
This bike and groupset was never intended for you.
@@petersouthernboy6327 I don't go round wearing a lycra costume like you.
