  • I saw the image of a bear's butt on this piece and I couldn't un-see it! So, I decided not to turn the outside of this bowl due to that and other beautiful features. I'm really happy with the way this FOG (Found On Ground) Wood turned out and it's become one of my favorite pieces. If you know what kind of wood this is, please tell me in the comments, thanks! Finished in shellac.

I'm not a woodworker, but I enjoy watching turning vids, and you're the first I've seen who explains what is done. Thank you.

..almost feels like, your finished piece shows the respect and heritage you’re giving the gnarled tree, it once was

Like so many other comments, I, too, look forward to Thursday evening's time with Phil! Of all the turners I watch, you are head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to your love affair with the pieces you turn. Your respect for the intrinsic beauty contained in the wood is really special. This is one of your best Phil+nature pieces. Thanks!

The presence of mind to leave the unique features of the piece al naturale, and then coax the wood into speaking for itself, was inspired. Way to go, Uncle Phil ❣️👍✌️

I could see a couple of dinosaur faces and the elephant man, but there’s just so much to see you could probably stare at it for hours and still keep finding things. It’s another fabulous piece
