    This press has worked like a charm for my projects th-cam.com/users/postUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with.This was an excellent purchase for $40!!

    The good:
    -Great use of the lathe, I really liked the job you did on the handle.
    Sources for improvement:
    -Don't hammer the outer rim of a bearing.
    -Don't paint the upright of the stand, it restricts movement.
    -Don't paint the table top.
    -Give yourself a little more length on the crank arm for better control of table movement.
    -Spend some time practicing welding before the restoration, the crank and the table could have looked better.

    Why was the column painted? It should be smooth and clean! The pulley grooves do not need to be painted either! New bearings are damaged by hammering. A typical example of working in China

    Nice restoration - thanks for the video. A couple items: 1) use wire nuts for bringing wires together 2) Don't paint the post and table and 3) it would have been really great to weld all of the holes in the table then MACHINE them flat and rebuild the circular grooves in the table to give you a perfectly flat table.

    • @joedowling5452
      @joedowling5452 ปีที่แล้ว

      One other item. The table height crank. If you don't need to or cannot take it apart, don't. If you have to do a terrible looking repair to reassemble it. Don't take it apart.

    You did a fine job or restoring the drill press, except for one small method that you should not do. That is hammering on a ball bearing outer cone. You should only apply pressure or hammer blows to the center cone that is in contact with the shaft. Transversely, when inserting a bearing that is a press fit, apply pressure or light hammer blows to the outer race evenly. Use a pipe, socket, lathe turned scrap piece, or other appropriately sized metal to effect the installs.

    I see you got a lot of comments. One thing that I take issue of is the electrical connections. It seems you just twisted the wires and then applied black tape. That tape will loosen and now bare wires are able to touch the frame. To me this and hammering the bearings on the shaft was the big problem with the rebuild.

    Napierdala młotkiem gdzie popadnie, śruby już chyba wcześniej odkręcone, bo w impakcie młotek nawet przeskoku nie zrobił, gdzie normalnie zaciskając nasadkę ręką zacznie stukać. Zresztą psika tym gównem po łbach śrub, które daje tyle, co nic. Zastanawiam się po jakiego grzyba on pomalował koła pasowe... i w ogóle części pasowane na dokładny wymiar, skoro to wszystko potem zdarł, a łożysk zakładanie młotkiem to już przesada. Połączenia elektryczne... miejmy nadzieję, że nikogo nie zabije ta maszyna. Wyosiowanie silnika, jak i ustawienie paska w linii prostej to mistrzostwo. To się nawet na olyiks nie nadaje xD Sądziłem, że coś lepszego zobaczę, ten sprzęt nie zasługuje, żeby taki ktoś go "regenerował". I to mi jutub polecił?
