I recently posted a poll asking if I should make a third video that combined Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 and 74% of the votes made it clear that I should do it. Here it is, in all its glory. I am really happy to have done this belt sander. It was one of my favorite restorations by far. You will probably see me use it in my future restorations.

Triumph of form over content
I enjoy all of your videos, but I think this one so far, is the top of the list. Agree totally to get it back to stock condition. I have some skills but as for opening that motor.... I do not think I would try that. I did watch how you did it, and with a few more in depth videos as you produce, I may one day, try a restoration on a motor myself.
Keep it up. It looks better than new, I am quite sure the internals were not originally as well done as the way you put them back, fresh surfaces and fresh coatings...

Great job. So nice to see someone cleaning the muck out with a vacuum and not just blasting it all in the air and promptly breathing it in. You only have one set of lungs, look after them!

You need to check the tension on the V-Belt and maybe add some other Earth connections. Other than that, a very good job!

You know that is what I thought when I started the channel, Have at it, try the restoration and just be patient, take care to make sure you remember where everything goes and you will be just as good as I am (not that I am as good as other restorers) but when you finished you will be like WOOOOW, and then you will just want to do more and more! this looks almost identical to my 2015 harbor freight sander

Well done, looks pretty good.
The only "problems" i see with it are the safety earth/grounding connections. It was kinda bad before, just using that one screw that closes the junction box to provide contact. At least around here, that would fail any safety test, especially now that everything is powder coated and paint usually provides some isolation. I guess there would need to be a dedicated grounding screw in the switch box, and a second one in the junction box on the motor that directly connects electrically to the motor case.
An other thing you could have shown is that you can tighten the drive belt by moving the motor back a bit more. Looks like the belt was pretty loose in the test run.

Great Restoration! Not tell you what to do. But if you have a metal shaft that it's diameter is critical you can use a scotch bright pad
to clean it. The scotch bright pad wont remove a lot of metal.

Amazing work! Congratulation. Now it's better than when she was new. If I have seen correctly, you should try the V-belt a little more because it is a little wide. Last thing: what kind of liquid did you use to wash the motor winding?
Nice only thing missing is the sanding belt and the grinding stone for sharpening chisles and guide plates for the belt and grinder. As well as setting tension

I would like to see u take the time to smooth out the casting imperfections, but awesome job.
Great result. I prefer mor colours. For me the silver colour is a bit boring. But it is only my opinion. An advise: Never wear gloves when working on rotating machines!

Very good and nice job. Please turn the ON/OFF plate, because as appears in the final test, the button is in ON position when the machine is off, and the button is in OFF position when the machine is on. You can also see the little white circle on the push button that must be hide when the machine is on and visible when off. Forgive me but I did not want to criticize your work, only report you a little detail that would make a very good job "perfect".

you paint the winding but a good job was if you dip the winding on the varnish for about 45 minutes and then drip intel dry out , then bake on the stove for about 3 hours @ 300 F

Your drive belt is to slack, need to adjust it, otherwise good job. I like the powder coating the best.

So the whole point of dissasembling the motor was so you could bake it after giving it a bad powdercoat?
Spray paint doesn't need baking.

Question. In the beginning it had a grinding wheel on one pully. In the end you left it off.
Why?
It is something I would never use.
But it does seem like a neat idea.
I have never seen that done before.
I could not find a suitable replacement sadly. I have a dedicated bench grinder so that function is useless to me.

I'm curious how you took your decisions what treatment to apply to a given part. For example, why powder coat one part, but spray paint another?
I like to use different techniques of painting, it keeps the video a little more interesting.

Great work. I was curious why you didn’t replace the grinding stone. Was that an aftermarket addition too?
Could not find one that would fit, my local hardware stores took a look at the grinding stone and told me they never saw one like it before. So I just left it be. I have a actual grinder so I don't need it.

I'm a beginning restorer and fascinated by all the things to be done. What media did you use in your sandblasters?
I can only tell you what I do…When I am blasting Aluminum I use glass bead blasting and for steel or stainless steel I use Sandblasting. Sandblasting is very good for removing paint. But it also depends on the thickness of the metal…u might go down with pressure to assure ur not “bending the metal” :) just my experience!

soo nice ... but what's the deal with the motor mount hardware and belt tension..? still, a great job.
You don't want the belt to be tensioned too hard, as it is now it has more than enough tension to shred any metal. When something gets stuck and stalls the belt it slips instead of ripping off your arm.
Are you using 120V instead of 220V?
220v, where I am we only have 220v.
One thing to fix now : On / OFF are in the wrong side !
what happen to the grinding wheel next to the pulley ?
I could not find a replacement. When I do, I will make a short on fitting it.
On off switch is flipped and labeled wrong.
