yes but remember that this is the same mangaka as yuyu hakusho. a series that slowly lessen its quality and was abruptly ended by him because he was extremely overworked.

The real question hunter x hunter fans should be asking is, What can us the fans do to bring this masterpiece of a show back on the road? A go fund me? Write thousands of letters to Togashi? WHAT MUST I DO TO GET MY FAVORITE SHOW EVER BACK?!
How about being a respectful human being? According to Togashi, when mangakas work on their series they have about 4 hours of free time per week, assuming they sleep for 4-5 hours. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Noble Haze What we need to do is convince the poor man that he doesn’t need to enslave himself so much. He could basically do what Kishimoto is currently doing with the Naruto franchise and just give another mangaka story details while retaining artistic control. I get that Togashi wants to make HxH as good as he can, but if it’s causing him so much trouble, we need to give him a break. After so long of going through his back ailments, and giving us such great material, he deserves a lasting break for once.
Indra Ootsutsuki All that may be true (except the part about more media; Kishimoto only wanted his creative juices to end with the Boruto movie, which has been done), but I do feel that Togashi could at least go further. He clearly has ideas, but he's not able to get them out. If he really wants everything to come from him, at this point in time I feel that he (and the fanbase) have to face reality. Manga drawing may be his passion, and he's done great things in the industry, but you can't just ignore his problems. I mean, considering it's been back problems since day one, what he has is probably something chronic, maybe even deadly. In such a situation, we can't "wish him good health"; Togashi has to be active in recovering or at least functioning. Otherwise, he may die while still believing, leaving HxH unfinished without anything to resolve it, kind of like the final Tintin book. And for the sake of human life (and the series), no one wants that.
"Go Watch HxH" - I've watched it "if you already saw it, go watch it again" - I've watched it 3 times oh, and i read the manga over 10 times, bcs who the hell need hobbies.
I've watched it 5 times and now I am at the 6th run and it never fails to amaze me. It's literally my favourite anime of all time right ahead of full metal alchemist brotherhood
True but a simple sentence from Gon to Killua about who Kite is and maybe a 5 second flashback showing Kite and Gon together would have been enough to just reference the character before killing him off though.
+Shaun's Japanese They did that, but only after he was introduced post-Greed Island. There would have been no reason for Gon to talk about him beforehand - it would have felt forced and still wouldn't have accomplished the desired goal.
This is the biggest failing of the 2011 adaptation. Because of the way Gon is characterized, his reaction to Kite's death was consistent, but a lot of that is easy to miss if the audience doesn't pay close attention to Gon's psychology so I think introducing Kite in the first episode was necessary. And I don't think it would've killed the pacing. A little prologue before cutting to Gon fishing would've been the best way to incorporate it, and it wouldn't have interrupted the pacing at all.
I was actually talking about episode 76 when they referenced that Kite saved Gon from the fox-bear. In that episode Gon doesn't really remember Kite at all, he just remembers being saved. However Kite was the one who told Gon his dad was still alive after his aunt told him he was dead, he was the one who inspired Gon to become a Hunter. He played a much more important role in Gon's life and they just brushed him of like he didn't matter. It would be like removing Shanks from One Piece, Rukia from Bleach or Iruka from Naruto. This is why I said that “a simple sentence from Gon to Killua about who Kite is and maybe a 5 second flashback showing Kite and Gon together would have been enough to just reference the character before killing him off” it would have been better and it would have shown more respect for the character than what they did. At the very least that's what I think anyway.
A solid breakdown of something that really makes HunterXHunter special. Makes me wanna go back and rewatch it now even though I just finished it last fall. Haha. But your video also made me think about the openings to HunterXHunter and how they also interestingly follow this progression to a degree. Like with the arcs, the openings build from ones that are pretty standard Shonen affairs to much more dense and uniquely themed ones. There's also a lot of overlap of animation in between the first few, reinforcing the idea that their arcs flow into one another like you said. And of course then there's the fact that the same song is used for each; something very unique to Anime in general.
I strongly recommend checking out the Semblance of Sanity brothers' ongoing live reaction and analysis series if you haven't already. They contribute so much to the discussion it's fantastic
One thing I really like about this community is how healthy it is. Every hunterxhunter fan has a mutual agreement with everything. No arguments about a bad a character, or who’s more powerful. Everyone just agreed that eveything is masterfully done
the building of every piece and the slow evolution of the chimera ant arc being like a board game in a way was put into literal terms with gungi which is a striking visual & textual metaphor about the progression of the chimera ant arc in a way
I thought that too near the end! Specifically when the group of hunters were planning the attack on the ants and setting up everything just for everything to semi-fallapart and them trying to fix it.
Hunter x Hunter has impacted me more than any other anime. I've re-watched it so many times, and yet I still cry at the same scenes every time because I'm so emotionally attached to the characters. I watched it for the 6th time yesterday, and cried on the last episode because I was sad the long journey of two incredible boys was over. Also, I'm aware that the manga is ongoing but I am refraining from watching it right now because I don't want to put myself through the pain of having to wait for a chapter for a couple months or even years. Apparently no chapters have come out for the entirety of 2019. Yikes... HxH is such a masterpiece, I hope Togashi will be able to finish it...
Aah, yes. I remember letting out a big satisfied sigh after finishing watching fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood and thinking; With this and Hellsing Ultimate being so motherFU#####!!!! good, someone should totally remake Hunter x Hunter, since the manga is still going. And then, year after that.. Life is just so beautiful sometimes. 😭
I just watched this series this week and your explanation of the end helped me understand why I loved the ending so much. Well more in depth, it just tied EVERYTHING together, but left room for new arcs. It was truly a joy to watch, and they did a good job of kind of voicing viewers opinions of Ging during the election ( about being a deadbeat, etc) but made Ging seem like everything we expected, and once Gon and him talked it was how I wanted to see it end.
Urgh I love HxH so goddamn much ... I wished there were more people doing videos for it and showing its brilliance! I mean, seriously, I got SMARTER watching this show, taking into aspect what an enemy might think during a particular exchange, learning how tactics works etc. If anyone wants to be a writer, pls, watch this show, it will help you write fight scenes and dialogue so much better!
Gihnmilden Literally that's what I'm going to tell my friend who loves to write like me, to go watch all the HxH adaptations, because it's HxH and it's great no matter After watching this video, I was like: I need a whole document to write tips on writing, so I can get even a smidge close to making something worth reading like Togashi's; without all that extra junk, typical plot holes, and lame characters
After watching HxH 2011, I went and watched HxH 1999 and it filled a lot of holes for me, especially about Gon's mental breakdown. It made more sense for Gon to react to Kite's death the way he did if they had a previous connection from the first episode
Zubas007 yeah it’s underrated because it’s only widely known in eastern media (specifically japan) but its underrated for western audience because only anime fans know about it
@@MrToxicB1izzard I mean it has a really great story, characters, worldbuilding in general... Only comparable to maybe fmab and others out of the shonen genre such as death note
You are so right with the worldbuilding, I like how flexible the characters are. Like how some ppl are doing some important stuff while the MCs are going through an arc.
Yeah!! I hadn’t realized just how disconnected a lot of the Dragonball arcs were until you pointed it out. The only arcs that actually bleed into each other are the Piccolo Daimo/ 23rd Tenkaichi arcs and the Saiyan/Freeza arcs. I also hate the fact that almost every important emotional character development happens during a time skip. We never see Goku and Chi Chi’s relationship get to blossom. We never learn how Krillen managed to get with 18 or how Vegeta grew closer to Bulma. Hell we don’t even really see Krillen and Goku’s friendship develop in the 21st Budokai arc, we just see Krillen being less of an asshole after Goku encourages him to beat up the guy from his hometown who used to bully him.
brabbit330 we kinda do see Goku and Krillin relationship bloom. Toriyama says he hates writing romance. The only time he ever writes anything remotely sexual is as gags. But beleive it or not he actually has a story about a female superhero being kinda sorta raped and becoming a prostitute.
brabbit330 Hxh took elements from hxh like Gon character match with goku character . Goku killed piccolo daimyou for revenge as daimyou killed his friend . Later krillin got revived . Same thing happen with Gon character in chimera ant arc This proved that how masterful dragon ball is .
Go READ Hunter X Hunter, the new arc and arcs after the 2011 anime have a very different tone and direction, but are all very interesting plus the Hisoka vs Chrollo fight~ (and what happens right after it e.e)
It's definitely not the best shounen ever, it's got even close if I'm being honest, if you really think Hunter x Hunter is a masterpiece or the best shounen ever, you need to watch more anime or read more manga :/
@@KLANGS ? Wtf are u on about ? im sure ive read more manga thanu and watched more anime than u, idk what ur on about, Hxh to me is the best shonen period, it doesnt mean thats the best story of all time, but for a shonen it was am asterpiece, and not even code geass and that sh1t u watched can even come close
One thing I like about HxH is that it doesn't feel artificial. It feels like an actual story that the characters (which are amazing) are just living their lives and doing their thing. When there's a new arc you feel like the characters are just continuing their journey but not the previous arc was a success and the writer desperately wants to throw some new plot to the story for the sake of writing it. Sure some characters in HxH have exaggerated personality but it's way more plausible compared to other shows. I've seen characters with incomprehensible stupidity. It's like the writers treat us as morons that couldn't understand the plot whatsoever.
The fact how everything happened is connected is what make HxH realistic in my opinion, even tho it's in a alien world with a bunch of quirky characters
I highly recommend my fellow hunter x hunter fans go watch Togashi's previous work "Yu Yu Hakusho" as well, he is truely a master at characterization. both of the anime he's created are probably in my top 3.
The only thing is dislike about Hunter x Hunter is how it makes everything else feel extremely shallow and uninteresting. After rewatching the chimera ant arc I continued watching My Hero Academia and was in the middle of the tournament arc. And it felt incredibly childish and devoid of any depth. There is just no comparing to Hunter x Hunter. FMA: Brotherhood also doesn't compare.
I understand what you're saying, but I also disagree. In particular, while My Hero Academia's tournament arc can certainly feel very bare bones for a tournament at times, that show nevertheless has its own interesting elements (I personally thought that the stuff with Stain was pretty fascinating on multiple levels). I mean, Hunter x Hunter is still my favorite anime by a wide margin, so of course I think it's better than Hero Aca, FMA, etc., but I don't agree with the idea that everything else feels "shallow and uninteresting" by comparison.
I agree on that, but the direct comparison really makes everything pale. I also liked the part with stain a lot more, and what I was watching was one of the lesser interesting battles of the tournament arc to be fair. If you watch something right after HxH, is can't hold up, but after some time you get used to it again. I just wish there would be more on the level of HxH. Thanks for the response.
Jack Jill Lolz yh😂 But seriously, it's probably a bad thing that all my favourite animes seem just slightly watered compared to HxH, where I'm like: why did you do this and that for, that totally ruined it!! The thing with HxH, if there's something I don't agree with, it'll already have been compensated for, so I don't get annoyed after e.g Lack of Leorio was expanded already as filler in 1999, and then he appears in more recent arcs
Pretty nice summary! Transitions and cohesion are Togashi's bread and butter. Out of curiosity, did you take some inspiration from Aleczandxr's Heaven's Arena video for this? Some points you make are pretty similar and you both have common ground in admiring transition between these two videos.
One thing I never understood about the hunter exam arc was that hisoka was NEVER intrigued by hanzo in the slightest. Despite the fact that he showed potential to be damn there as strong if not stronger than hisoka in the future after mastering his nen because he was only 18. HANZO WAS SO OVERLOOKED I LOSE SLEEP BECAUSE OF THIS
Juch Star I think it's because gon has more potential than every one of them. Which is pretty obvious. With the case of killua I think he just layed off because of illumi and kurapika I'm not really sure why he wasn't intrigued by him either
Hanzo has played an important role in more story arcs than Leorio, I'll point out. In an arc that completely lacks the presence of Gon, Killua, or Leorio (the current arc) he's one of the major focus characters.
Hmm, I think Hisoka really only focused on Gon's potential. He noticed Kurapika's and Leorio's obviously in his pursuit of Gon but it was only through them. He didn't seem nearly as interested in Kurapika and Leorio overall and I don't think it's because they had less potential. Gon just seemed so different and hiding an enormous power inside to Hisoka that got him all worked up. I think he was well aware of Hanzo but we just didn't see him address it as they never really got an interaction. Hisoka was intrigued by Gon the most and he had the most interaction with him. It's also important to note Hisoka knows who Ging Freecs is by his title and skills. So did Hisoka figure/know Gon was his son from around the beginning? I choose to believe after he noticed Gon's skills he realized who he was. Killua, also a legacy, Hisoka wasn't allowed to touch due to Illumi even though he still was fascinated by his skills to a degree that he did want to fight Killua.
So I was wondering if you could do a character analysis video. I really enjoy those I would love to see one with Knuckle but honestly anyone would be dope
can you talk about one punch man in relation to netero, meruem, and komugi? i'm talking about their relative invincibility and reasons for fighting. their goals in relation to their abilities and interactions with each other and the world. how they progress through their lives/the series. kinda vague, i can elaborate, i think you'd be able to produce a really great video about it
Similar to Gon and Killua not being able to finish their training before fighting with it is exactly what happens in naruto shippuden when naruto is developing the rasenshuriken, he is interrupted by hearing about kakuzu and has to use it unfinished, which then leaves him out of commision for a while in the story, but then he completes it in time for the pain arc or destruction of konoha arc which he is part of and preparing for, but is more focused on what is happening with the side characters' struggles with fighting the paths of pain, but then Naruto comes back in sage mode and beats the hell out of pain.
I love that this seamless natural progression throughout the story makes it truly feel like an adventure. There's no point where it feels like something has interrupted Gon and Killua's adventure, but rather it's all a part of their journey, an example being the transition between the Yorknew Auction to the Greed Island arc.
The transition from election fo continent goes as following: Netero’s will is mentioned saying he personally wanted to go to the dark continent and the zodiacs fullfilles that request etc etc and it geniusely ties in
Since I wasn't an avid fan of anime when I first watched Hunter x Hunter (and believe me, HxH definitely fanned that flame big time), I didn't realize arcs existed, mostly because I was inexperienced and all the animes I had seen before were only around an arc long. And I didn't realize they existed after watching Hunter x Hunter either, until I saw people talking about it, because the plot was so fluid and interconnected I didn't realize it was divided into larger plotlines. I also didn't realize Hunter x Hunter was really divided into seasons and not arcs, because the website I binged it on never listed the episodes as being in seasons, and so about a year later when I learned my dad had begun watching it on Netflix, I asked him "Oh, what arc are you on?" instead of "Oh, what season are you on?" because of those two reasons.
I feel like only a few shounen achieve this much complexity in their storytelling. When I think I understood a certain topic or connect a certain scene to a previous one, I already feel so happy. But then I see videos like this and I get my mind blown from the depth of the points made. One can like and appreciate HxH, but I feel like you need to possess a certain level of intellect to grasp the ingenuity and to truly understand HxH. Yoshihiro Togashi is a mastermind.
your videos are so interesting, and your voice is perfect for this type of discussion analysis. i can see amazing potential in you, your gonna be an amazing youtuber one day : )
The reason Hunter x Hunter is so amazing has a direct correlation to how amazing Togashi is. Just think of all the small tidbits of knowledge from a diverse set of skills and trades thrown in the show. I can tell how much he loves learning and finding ways to incorporate it in the show.
everything you mentioned was so true, you made so many good points in this vid!! hunterxhunter is literally one of the best animes of all time, and all of the connections and flows between arcs & characters make it so!
My god.. Over the span of my love of anime, i've watched HxH through 2-3 times I believe, and spent a LOT of time watching this anituber's dissect the show AND YET STILL I had 3 seperate "Oh holy shit, I never noticed that!!" moments from this you bring up in this vid. God this show is a masterpiece.
Fearch 93 Did you just compare Hunter X Hunter with Fairy Tail? Boi comparing Hunter X Hunter with Fairy Tail is like comparing a masterpiece to a piece of shit. Hunter X Hunter>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fairy Tail
Very well made, entertaining, and strong! I really enjoyed this video and I do recommend you do check the Dark Continent Arc because I did feel it had rough transition compared to every other arc. Also I'm really glad you brought up Gon's brighter nature, which I also felt started to be almost forgotten by the fandom.
artha5 TH-camr "The Canipa Effect" made a video about it called "The Silent Fall of Madhouse". TL;DR: Pretty much the heart and soul of Madhouse left (producers, directors, animators etc.).
Alexis M the satisfaction of not having to wait every week is so great and the excitement doesn't die down for next week and you consistently feel hyped
If the fan translations of the early technical setup weren't so difficult to parse, I would definitely be caught up by now. Instead, I've been too lazy to buy the official volume (which is stupid and I need to fix myself ASAP).
You have a point. The fan translations are a pain in the ass and chapters which read more like a novel than a manga don't improve things either. In the end I enjoyed the read anyway because Togashi is a god-like writer.
I don't mind the exposition. The anime was full of it. I just want to actually understand what's going on (and from what I've gathered, the fan translations actually misrepresent the information in certain instances).
Really interesting analysis on the narrative of HxH and I'm interested in watching some of your other videos, but I noticed that you didn't talk about One Piece which I guess it's because you haven't seen it or else you would probably also be comparing the smooth transition that each story has.
I love watching your videos like these. even when I don't actually like the anime, hearing your reasoning and passion on a subject is just a wonderful time. it's still weird to me. I've watched hours and hours of youtubers explaining how wonderful this show is but I just CAN'T seem to enjoy it. I don't get it. I like the genre, I like the themes it uses. hell it has to be great, even searching 'I don't like hunterXhunter' just gets you hundreds of videos on why you SHOULD like it, without a single result agreeing with me. and this is the internet, everything's hated. It's not like I haven't tried. I've tried watching it before, but it just doesn't hook me. wish I could see what everyone else likes about this. I've tried, I just can't find a way to like the characters or themes or arcs. but at least I can enjoy other people's passion and enjoyment of it.
I share the same sentiments. No matter how many times I watch HxH and try to like it, their acclaimed uniqueness just doesn't stand out for me or hook me in. What I did enjoy was the One Piece manga where everyone had their own arcs and each character have rich backgrounds waiting to be explored. It's even richer with each characters' interaction that establishes further connections and relationships. Oda is truly a master of creating a living world with living characters. My only problem is that there doesn't seem to be a resolution because of all the money he's making. On the long run, it lost its luster for me.
I sure as hell love a good HxH video. Well done. And yes, the current "Succession Contest Arc" and the Dark Continent Arc have a SHIT TON of foreshadowing leading us to them. The current world building is also astonishing good which helps to enhance early parts of the story. Please read what's happened so far, it's just as cinematic in the manga as in the anime. Just make sure to have some HxH OST running in the background!
To be fair Naruto has also a good narrative from arc to arc. Not as good as HxH, but not as bad as Dragon Ball. It starts with Zabuza, a mission that forces team 7 to work together and makes naruto experience friendship for his first time (that will be important for his confrontation with Gaara). In the Chuunin exams Orochimaru kills Sarutobi but gets a serious handicap. The leaf village searches for Tsunade to have her become Hokage, but Orochimaru also needs her to cure him. After her refusal Orochimaru can only accelerate his plan to "kidnap" Sasuke, and sends the Sound 4 to pick him up. The only transition that wasn't 100% natural is from the Land of Waves to the Chuunin Exam, but this does not make Naruto's narration forced or unnatural.
Oh I need you to make more of these videos until the next season is released...................... You make me understand more why I love Hunter Hunter and why it hits differently.
Keviniiiiii Definitely worth your time, just as good! Some may write it off as 'not better than 2011', but come on, it's HxH, just enjoy the extra content, you won't regret it :3 I'm actually surprised not everyone decided to watch it before 2011, but eh no matter
i remember watching season 1 OVER and OVER and OVER again because only season 1 was on netflix than i got bored and when i came back to the anime BOOM 5 seasons
First of all, I just discovered yout channel, and you sir, are amazing. Great video! I m sorry if I m beating a dead horse here, but do you think that CA as a arc, is, to the plot as a whole pointless? Let me explain. While there is things that changes the characters of Gon and Killua, and expand the lore of the Hunter World by showing Kite and his friends, if feels less like a Natural Progression in a sense that things that must happen, and more like Togashi trying to, and succeeding in creating the most ambitious and bigger arc on the series. It seens to me, that the story could have finished by the end of election arc, but he decided to continue to explore more and more of the rich universe that he created, crafting complex characters and exploring another themes. Hell, Gon is not even in the next arc, and this is a major shounen jump series. With that said, I don t consider this a flaw at all, Togashi just kinda do whatever he wants, and HxH is this bizarre thing that has things that shouldnt work in any other story, but somehow it does.
I feel like sooo many people are misunderstanding Gon's personality, saying that he is so selfish. Gon is selfish??? Oh my god, I've never seen him that way and I can't imagine any Japanese see him that way. He always gets mad for others, putting aside his OWN GOAL, to find his father. If he was just a selfish shit focusing just on his own goal, he'd NEVER risk his life for others, like asking Kurapia to put the chain into his heart too, or trying to sacrifice goddamn EVERYTHING to revenge Kite against Pito. Of course, he is not perfect at all. Rather any character in this show is not perfect, anyone has kinda flaws, weakness, or dark side. That's why the story and characters are so entertaining and kinda realistic, and that's why Gon often says he couldn't come this far alone!, which shows that he is kinda humble. I feel like it's totally wrong!! especially when someone points out the dodge ball episode as an example of Gon's selfishness. Do you really think about Killua's feeling?? Killua had never had any friend before he met Gon, who was the FIRST one that accepted the way he is without any fear or doubt about his family background, and eventually became the best friend EVER! Gon noticed Killua's hand messed up and also obviously he noticed he was hiding his injure without saying anything about it. You know why Killuea was hiding it? Of course because Killua didn't want Gon to say something like "Oh, your hands are messed up, now we should change our way". Killua did want Gon to believe him, and Gon responded to Killua, saying to Tsezguerra that Killua is the only one that I can do this with. My eyes are blown off. What Gon said to Tsezguerra was exactly what Killua wanted to hear from Gon. This scene is not the one showing you Gon's selfishness, but the one showing development of their true friendship!!
Even if I totally agree with you, I like to think Gon as selfish because he doesn't do what is "right" but only what he want. He has friends, he will help them, even if it means killing peoples or kidnap others, because he want to ! Selfish doesn't mean just "doing what I need to do to go to my goal" but "doing what I want, when I want" I think, because, on the first one, we're more talking about Kurapika than Gon ... Again, I agree with you, but (maybe it's because my first language isn't English) I take the word "selfish" in its bigger mean
Yo I'm watching hunter x hunter for the first time right now. I'm at like episode 132 or something. Love this video, if it wasn't for your videos I never would have started watching the japanese episodes, since I stopped once I was out of dub episodes. So yeah. But fam, let people know there are spoilers!
Hardest part about hunter hunter is when the chimera ant arc ends so close to the final episode and you have to accept that the series ends in 12 episodes but there’s no way the story can possibly conclude in such a short time, and then you get to the last episode to be like “yep I was right how could they end such s good show in 12 episodes” “now I gotta wait a thousand years for the anticipated (Dark Continent Arc)” ... I mustn’t read the manga I’ll wait...
Yes!!! my only complaint is, (and some of it is the animes fault) more kite time. I did not feel very emotionally attached and I did not quite see why Gon was so attached to him as well.

It's kind of annoying that Kite wasn't in episode 1 of the 2011 anime, but considering how that anime was structured it would have killed the pacing.
Departure is easily one of my favorite anime OPs, and I'm so glad they kept it for the entire series.
Mathwiz97 the fact that it never felt out of place tonally or got old either is really something it deserves praise for.

I love what they did with "departure" and the endings as well.
One thing I really like about this community is how healthy it is. Every hunterxhunter fan has a mutual agreement with everything. No arguments about a bad a character, or who’s more powerful. Everyone just agreed that eveything is masterfully done
unfortunately because hxh got so popular on tiktok the community became toxic :(

I am a simple man, i see a HxH video, I click
Aah, yes. I remember letting out a big satisfied sigh after finishing watching fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood and thinking;
With this and Hellsing Ultimate being so motherFU#####!!!! good, someone should totally remake Hunter x Hunter, since the manga is still going.

Gihnmilden Literally that's what I'm going to tell my friend who loves to write like me, to go watch all the HxH adaptations, because it's HxH and it's great no matter
After watching this video, I was like: I need a whole document to write tips on writing, so I can get even a smidge close to making something worth reading like Togashi's; without all that extra junk, typical plot holes, and lame characters
After watching HxH 2011, I went and watched HxH 1999 and it filled a lot of holes for me, especially about Gon's mental breakdown. It made more sense for Gon to react to Kite's death the way he did if they had a previous connection from the first episode
Hunter X Hunter is the most underrated masterpiece ever.
MrToxic is it underrated though?
Zubas007 yeah it’s underrated because it’s only widely known in eastern media (specifically japan) but its underrated for western audience because only anime fans know about it

I swear I always see you in HxH videos and you never fail at being entertaining. lmao (Love the username, too)
This series feel like something out of a well-developed novel instead of a typical shounen manga. So subtle yet powerful
@Bouya lmao if we decided to talk about everything good about Togashi's works, a video could easily take hours, no joke
I already watched it 2 times...... But I'll what it next year again ITS JUST THAT GOOD. Speaking about good things, THIS VIDEO!! Amazing job dude
I’m in this exact same situation now and this is biiiigggg facts. Can’t go back to regular shonen after Hunter x Hunter
I do agree but... Etc
HANZO WAS SO OVERLOOKED I LOSE SLEEP BECAUSE OF THIS
That's a good argument
Juch Star I think it's because gon has more potential than every one of them. Which is pretty obvious. With the case of killua I think he just layed off because of illumi and kurapika I'm not really sure why he wasn't intrigued by him either
GD & DW because he was a minor character
Gum Gum Senpai Uncensored Kunckle (HxH) vs Knuckles (Sonic)
I can personally recomend "aleczandxr" videos on HxH characters. They are so damn good man. The Netero and Gon one are personal favorites.
Everytime I watch a HxH video I CAN'T HELP but go rewatch the entire thing. Well, there goes my social life again
Love HxH and love these vids just as much! Keep up the work. I think this is one of your best yet!
can you talk about one punch man in relation to netero, meruem, and komugi? i'm talking about their relative invincibility and reasons for fighting. their goals in relation to their abilities and interactions with each other and the world. how they progress through their lives/the series. kinda vague, i can elaborate, i think you'd be able to produce a really great video about it
Similar to Gon and Killua not being able to finish their training before fighting with it is exactly what happens in naruto shippuden when naruto is developing the rasenshuriken, he is interrupted by hearing about kakuzu and has to use it unfinished, which then leaves him out of commision for a while in the story, but then he completes it in time for the pain arc or destruction of konoha arc which he is part of and preparing for, but is more focused on what is happening with the side characters' struggles with fighting the paths of pain, but then Naruto comes back in sage mode and beats the hell out of pain.
I love that this seamless natural progression throughout the story makes it truly feel like an adventure. There's no point where it feels like something has interrupted Gon and Killua's adventure, but rather it's all a part of their journey, an example being the transition between the Yorknew Auction to the Greed Island arc.
1:03 the love child
The transition from election fo continent goes as following:
Netero’s will is mentioned saying he personally wanted to go to the dark continent and the zodiacs fullfilles that request etc etc and it geniusely ties in
Since I wasn't an avid fan of anime when I first watched Hunter x Hunter (and believe me, HxH definitely fanned that flame big time), I didn't realize arcs existed, mostly because I was inexperienced and all the animes I had seen before were only around an arc long.
Yeah, there’s some American shows like The Wire that use arcs, but it’s not that common
Yes they pointed at a fight from manga in Heavens Arena
That's what i love about HxH. Every arc is so different yet so connected
I love every time you show mha clips cause i just can't stop thinking about how Deku's appearance is just Gon and Killua mixed, it's great
I feel like only a few shounen achieve this much complexity in their storytelling.
I just completed my rewatch of HxH, do I need to watch it AGAIN? xD

Another example of great progression in a story would be One Piece, but that is largely due to its simplistic world structure

another excellent video. Quick question, do you think the Hunter x Hunter anime will ever continue once the manga finally get far enough forward?
I certainly hope so.

You should read the manga. It's worth your time ;)
If the fan translations of the early technical setup weren't so difficult to parse, I would definitely be caught up by now.
I wouldn’t read it just yet. The arc following the one where the anime concludes hasn’t been completed yet.
I rather not read it since i still hold hope we will get more episodes
If only HxH released more than one volume a year, it could be the best series out there.

These are like my exact thoughts on FMAB
What anime do you like?
I share the same sentiments. No matter how many times I watch HxH and try to like it, their acclaimed uniqueness just doesn't stand out for me or hook me in. What I did enjoy was the One Piece manga where everyone had their own arcs and each character have rich backgrounds waiting to be explored. It's even richer with each characters' interaction that establishes further connections and relationships. Oda is truly a master of creating a living world with living characters. My only problem is that there doesn't seem to be a resolution because of all the money he's making. On the long run, it lost its luster for me.
Great video as always
I sure as hell love a good HxH video. Well done. And yes, the current "Succession Contest Arc" and the Dark Continent Arc have a SHIT TON of foreshadowing leading us to them. The current world building is also astonishing good which helps to enhance early parts of the story. Please read what's happened so far, it's just as cinematic in the manga as in the anime. Just make sure to have some HxH OST running in the background!
Just finished reading *that* fight. My mind has been blown.
iao can you give a few examples of those foreshadowings
The only transition that wasn't 100% natural is from the Land of Waves to the Chuunin Exam, but this does not make Naruto's narration forced or unnatural.
db's wasnt even that bad though

Yeah you write gon is not that selfish, gon got the most human personnality
さいてーさいあくのちょーわるいこ gon is selfish in the way that he only cares ab his friends and family and people who help him out much like an animal
@@sebm3615 imo leorio has the most normal personnality among the protagonists
So yeah. But fam, let people know there are spoilers!
the arc transition in hxh are smoooooth af
Great video by the way is there anything as good as Hunter x Hunter?
What is the first song that you play at the beginning of the video? It sounds so familiar.
It's the happy go lucky victory song from HunterHunter... almost all the music he uses in his videos are from the anime hes talking about.
Hardest part about hunter hunter is when the chimera ant arc ends so close to the final episode and you have to accept that the series ends in 12 episodes but there’s no way the story can possibly conclude in such a short time, and then you get to the last episode to be like “yep I was right how could they end such s good show in 12 episodes” “now I gotta wait a thousand years for the anticipated (Dark Continent Arc)”
... I mustn’t read the manga
I’ll wait...
Simple person I see a mathwiz video I click it

I love your analysis
Yes!!! my only complaint is, (and some of it is the animes fault) more kite time. I did not feel very emotionally attached and I did not quite see why Gon was so attached to him as well.
AAA I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED
Dear Mathwiz,
I'm addicted to watching analysis videos of movies, TV shows & animation.
This breakdown of my 2nd most favorite anime of ALL time is utterly brilliant & profound!
