I got the typ 116 last year, upgraded to several Q2’s, Q3’s, Q3 43’s and just last week offloaded all the successors to come to another Q Typ 116. There’s something special about it that keeps me inspired and reminds me what photography should be about. Furthermore, certain things such as the sleekness of the body (lack-thereof) and start up times of the newer bodies actually felt like a downgrade.
I love my Leica Q type (116) Titanium and recently bought the Q2M and now thinking of selling my Fujifilm X100VI because I just don’t use it anymore. The Q series just delivers. 👩🍳 💋
I VERY nearly went for a titanium model but I got SUCH a good deal on the original I couldn't turn it down - Any tips for a newbie to the Q? Tbh, I've been Fuji for 9 years but the quality from the Q absolutely destroys it, how do you find the 1 vs the 2?
Yeah, it's a great camera with fantastic image quality...But I sold mine because in the end I found having the fixed lens just too restrictive for me. So i got a great deal on an SL with M - L adapter and haven't looked back !! Thanks for the video and all the best with your Q...
Very kind words thanks for watching! Did you go for the original SL, the 601? After my experience with the Q I'm thinking of jumping on an original SL so would appreciate your opinions, especially as you have done the same journey!
@@FeralGinger Hi, yep, I got the 601. I'd have both if funds allowed but no regrets and absolutely love the SL. For me there's 3 main reasons for why I enjoy it So much...1) the sleek minimal design (once getting used to the non labelled buttons) is superb...2) The electronic viewfinder is big and bright and 3) the ability to use m and other manual lenses is a joy...with manual focusing aids making it So easy !! The black and white images are great as too are the colour and my favourite lens on there at the moment is the Voigtlander Nokton 40 f1.2 ...There's a few Leica lenses I'd love to get but they will have to wait for now !! For the price used these days they are great value....
@mrgrandad1961 the design is VERY clean I must say and I do like the unlabeled buttons ideology. I love the viewfinder on my XT4 but the one on the SL smokes it! I absolutely LOVE voigtlander glass but would have to consider some AF options first for the amount of work I do. You're right about the price, they are not as bad as I expected to be honest - thanks for your valuable opinions!
Great video. I too have recently gotten one of these lovelies, including the hand grip and thumbs up. As a black and white photographer I can honestly say it may well be the best camera I’ve ever owned. I tried an M and the Q leaves it for dead in all respects for my photographic style with the possible exception of the M shutter sound lol. Love the lens with its in-camera crop options and concur with all that you’ve said including the relative affordability…✌️🇦🇺
Thank you so much for dropping by, It's interesting that you prefer the Q over the M, I've not really heard that opinion before (and would save my bank balance haha) Agreed on the black and whites too, it produces stunning monochrome images, some of the best I've worked with! Thanks again!
@@FeralGinger the Q1 that I have has an EVF that ‘sees’ what I’ve set the profile to, in my case high contrast black & white, and I like that heaps. Cos of my eyesight issues the M focussing patch is not suitable at all. Plus the AF is rocket fast and the 28mm 1.7 Summicron lens is hard to pass as you know!
@@markielinhart having an evf in black and white is the best way I find for actually working with light, I've been doing this on my Fuji cameras for a long time as I still get very distracted by colour. That lens is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I have a question for you though, if you are predominantly black and white, have you considered the monochrome edition of the Leica Q2?
Sadly I'm selling it, doesn't make sense to have both and the Leica is better in every way other than a minor boost in size! Still phenomenal cameras though! Thanks for dropping by!
Congrats! I love my original Q since 2018 and I still don't feel the need to upgrade to the Q3.
Thanks! It's an absolute blessing to work with, to be honest I can't see myself changing it any time soon!

What flash were you using please? Thanks.
No problem, I subscribed. Hope to see more content soon.
Fantastic piece of kit wielded by a fantastic artist. Great video as always!
Super kind words brother! Greatly appreciate the support!
Could not believe how fast the autofocus was in low light!
Absolutely astonishing right? I'm overjoyed with this as a step up from the RX1R!
Hello, thanks for video. Where did you find the grip for your Leica . Thanks

@@FeralGinger not really, just enjoy that amazing lens and the simple design that allows you to focus on your work.

@@FeralGinger #1 tip: start saving for an M camera 😂
@craig_cunha I've heard a few refer to this as the gateway Leica 😂😂
