I only use the green , but I have new/old containers from 20+ years ago . I was given a huge box of them back in the late 90s and they are all still good.
I did buy an older version of the proraso white and looked like yours, but it didn’t smell bad. As I started to use it, it was fine and filled out the tub. If it smells bad return it.
Yes my shave soap from Trigodon (Indian) developed mold(idk what it is ) inside with small 1mm dots in it. And yes it smelled different (like a little off)...
If you lather in the puck it needs to be thoroughly rinsed and then dried out, I normally let my soaps dry out for a day or 2 just put the puck upside down on half of the lid so air can get in 🙂
Dont put the lid back if you used it. Put it back the next day. Proraso red smells very unlike actual sandalwood and you are probably smelling a combination of the scent, a small amount of sandalwood and a lot of parfum oil, combined with mustiness.
When I made this video the container was brand new from Amazon. It has since found its way into the trash. It was bad but not from me using but from just getting an expired container.

Be sure to fully inform the Proraso company. The company needs to know.
The red proraso is the only one from that line which couses irritation bumps on my skin

I simply shave off a few slices into a separate bowl and lather that up. My original PRORASO puck always stays dry.

Since I bought it through Amazon they just refunded the purchase price without a return.

After use, leave the cover off for a few hours to let the soap dry out. This prevents mold growth.
I do that with all my soaps. This one was bad straight out of the Amazon package.

Return it if it was Amazon.
My soap has changed color a bit and got some spots, the scent and performance is still good.
The one in the video was bad. I got the same one again and it smelled much better.

Have you used the red soap before?
Red soap does have an earthy smell to it that fads shortly after shaving to leave just the Sandalwood smell.
I now have the red soap as a cream. I like it a lot. This one must have been bad.
Shrink is from moisture loss. You leave the soap with water in it? If yes some ingredient go bad
I have the white version, and yes, it has started to smell a little like pig urine.

Have you ever used Proviso Red before? It smells like wet leaves and dirt. That funk you're smelling is probably that. That shit stinks.

I couldn't find a expiration date on it. They refunded the purchase price though.
most soaps dont have expiration dates on soaps, EU soaps will have a use by after open symbol with amount of months.
