I used 3 layers only that same bubble roll from home depot and one layer of headliner material for my c4 corvette targa top and it is awesome! I live in McAllen, Texas and buddy, it is 🔥! Nano ceramic window tint helps as well for heat from above!

Let me know if it helps. Definitely use multiple layers if you can. Better to have too much than not enough. Wish I did 2 or 3 instead of just one.

@@TexasNova You don't want to make the insulation too thick. You got to remember you have the headliner that will be going over it. You could have fitment issues if you double up or more on the insulation.

I used this stuff in my airbox! I also put the silver foil tape with butyl type of mastic on my air box and my factory intake piping. It actually made my car more responsive! No it's not a placebo effect!!!! If it feels lighter on throttle and she revs out quicker? Harder to drive in the wet weather ( more tail happy). On the freeway my intake manifold with plenum spacer at 12 mm thick from mace engineering and a 25 mm manifold spacer. My manifold is cold on the top of the plenum. I used to burn my hand. With a lot of swearing lol.

Imagen that sound proof and heat proof material on top then put some of this bubble sheet then some project foam board then the original headliner how much cooler it would be might be over kill but will make a big big difference

How does it hold up being so heavy. I’d think the hotter it got the more it’s “melt” or soften up and let loose.

      Works great. Still holds up.
However, I'd definitely recommend maybe 2 or 3 layers. I can still feel the heat just a little bit when it's 95+ degrees. Nothing is as near as w/o it. I'd add more bc it's better to have too much and not enough. Once you're Head Liner is in, baby you're stuck with how many you have.

Great job. I'm in Southern NM and always nervous about transporting my guitars if I have to leave them in the vehicle to the extent that I usually don't and drag it to where I'm going. Been thinking about this trick for inside the actual guitar cases. Found nothing about it bubble wrap for thermal protection just shipping protection. Not sure if I would have to do top and bottom of case to be effective for this concept. Need to make sure I have space and still cover the heat shield with some felt Incase there's some coating interaction with the instruments finish. Anybody got thoughts or want to know how this works out please reply.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm in an f150 with a soft cover over the payload. When I get a shell and start an overland build I'll just use this on the rooftop and siding. A quick insulated case would still be awesome for SW heat protection for musicians.... maybe a new product line...😎👍. 👊🇺🇸 Keep the faith.

Thanks for sharing your project. I am in the process of replacing my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 headliner: it literally drives me crazy on how difficult it is to get any good service from auto body and service shops - everyone only works through auto insurance. I am really beginning to think that all of those "Auto Reality TV Shows" are fake! I may take a look at my local big box store for the product you mentioned in this video. I would like to reduce the heat transfer and sound in my truck. It has taken me 3 1/2 years to identify all points of failure where water leaks inside my truck! One mechanic in my town was willing to help repair my truck - he earned my auto service for life, I consider myself lucky because Brian is a Mechanical Wizard!
