    Tris - oh boy - that hair is growing in fast!
    Your Dad had some nice new trains. looking forward to seeing his plaster-scape coming to life.
    For some reason I thought we were going to see more of your turn-table, but the rocks and grass were very well laid out.
    Best thing that happened here today, a lone Spitfire went over, that amazing RR-engine note immediately jerking my head up.

    Lovely video Tristram, your dad's layout is a gem in the making! There do seem to be some quality control issues on a lot of locos lately... When premium prices are paid for high-end models this is not entirely allowable imho. Cheers Joachim

      @OONeal  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, yes I need to keep encouraging him to do some more work on it. Yes that’s right they do cost a lot of money and are not always what they should be once received but Hopefully they pay attention to this feedback they get. Thank you for commenting, take care and stay safe.

    The H Class models apparently have a problem with the motors gradually burning out, so there may come a time when your Dad will have to replace the motor on more than one occasion

    The Deltic prototype built on spec of further orders 22 55 class built 61/62 and baby Deltic 10 class 23
    2and prototype DP1 was involved in an serious crash into a cement wagon and was written off
    By the way EE my first company I worked at
    The Deltic was a marine engine made by Napier

    Great video as per! I had a thought though, whilst looking at your OO9 platform, do you think it would be worth adding another point at the beginning of the layout & having a full run-round loop for your station? I personally think it would increase your operating potential & would mean you could potentially have a train come out of the quarry area & onto the main layout without having to move a passanger train at the station? Obviously your lauout, but I'm planning something kinda similar & that's the sort of thought process I've been going through recently haha!

    • @OONeal
      @OONeal  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matty P thank you for leaving the comment, it has been on my mind, I think if I started again I would do it but with it being a loft layout it doesn’t bother me but you are right it would make it better. I like the idea of making a layout for shows so with what I’ve been learning here would be something I definitely do in the future.

    Always interesting to watch. What was the squeaking noise coming from what I presume was your dad’s Deltic? I recently serviced an old Class 35 but it still squeaks a bit, any ideas?
    I am just about finished laying track but am missing a couple of left hand points but nearly there. What is your opinion on using small, medium or large points, curved or straight?

    • @OONeal
      @OONeal  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, thanks so the main board which is higher he’s had for 30 years but the lower sections he’s been building for a couple of years with adjustments as he goes. As for servicing I am learning but can keep them running so far.

    What happened to its dome that made it fall off
    Edit: no what happened to the entire loco

    • @OONeal
      @OONeal  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thiru raj I think with the Dome it mustn’t have had much holding it on in the first place but dad said it wasn’t off when he first got it out of the box when he got it originally. With the rest of the loco it’s a shame as it looks nice but doesn’t run round as nice. I’m sure Hornby with fix it for the next batch.
