  • In this video, I review the Solid State Logic (SSL) subscription plugin bundle. I evaluate what’s good and what is missing from this plugin bundle. The usefulness, as an audio mixing tool for these plugins is evaluated to find the strengths and weaknesses of this plugin bundle and whether or not it is a good value for the consumer, especially when faced with competition from several professional audio plugin companies.
    The devices evaluated include: SSL Native X-Echo, SSL Fusion Vintage Drive, SSL Fusion Stereo Image, SSL Native X-EQ 2, SSL LMC+, SSL Native Channel Strip 2, SSL Native Bus Compressor 2, SSL Native Drumstrip, SSL Native Vocalstrip 2, SSL Native X-Comp, SSL Native FlexVerb, SSL Native X-Saturator, SSL Native X-Phase, & SSL Native Valve Comp.
    My criteria for evaluating each subscription bundle are as follows:
    What are the strengths of these bundled plugins?
    What are the weaknesses, what’s missing or needs to be supplemented to be a complete solution?
    Who is the target audience for this subscription?
    Can an entire song be mixed using only this Bundle?
    Do I think that it’s a good value?
    So Who do I think is the Target Audience for this Subscription?
    This plugin bundle is designed for the serious audio engineer or music producer. It actually sounds like you are mixing on an analog recording console.
    Can an Entire Song Be Mixed with this Bundle?
    Absolutely. The only real tools that I found were missing in order to be a complete solution would be pitch correction, like Antares Autotune (Auto-tune). As well as some digital tools like an audio exciter.
    Do I think this Subscription Bundle is a good value?
    This pricing seems to be on par with other plugin companies. Some have more plugins, but most of them are not as usable as the plugins found with this bundle.
    Hopefully you’ve found this information helpful. Stay tuned for more audio subscription bundle reviews. I’ll try to post a new one every week, so if you know of one you want me to get to, leave a comment below, or just let me know what your thoughts are.

    I have the UC1 and it's great but keep in mind you can only control the SSL Channelstrip and Bus Compressor. Great review also! Just got the SSL drumstrip for €20 the other day ;)

      Yeah, that deal on the Drum Strip was an absolute steal. Thanks for the heads up on the UC1

    Vocalstrip is a great plugin when you are new into music and if you want to have fast changes but basicly it is just a compression, EQ with de-esser and ploser and the EQ is pretty basic. If you want one of the SSL plug-ins wait for sales when they're 19- 30€ instead of 100- 300€.

      Wrong they sound great with just bus comp and saturater on master bus as a nice analog ssl polish on master

    • @brianvillage5
      @brianvillage5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 360 app is cool but as a Luna user I use the API console emulation then run the saturator and limiter on my master, sometimes one of the compressors.

    Get on the mailing list, every few minutes they offer one or two for like $20. I have almost all of them at $20 a piece and they are worth it. I have the channel strip2, bus compressor 2 and v6 of each, x-valve comp, X comp, saturator, Xeq2, drum strip, saturator (my favorite), X-limit, X-verb. Can’t wait to pickup the newly released guitarstrip and the X-phase. I’m also hoping they run another sale on the fusion plugins because they’re awesome.

    Take the Slate subscription and you will have slate + SSL in one price. having them as a combo would give you a lot of tools to work with.

    hi, how do these ssl bundle plugins (the 'paid per month'-one's) work on m1 apple computers? fully supported? or still rosetta? im now in sept '22 tnx!

    • @thenextinsect
      @thenextinsect ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if you’re still wondering, but SSL recently updated them ALL. I have a UF8 and UC1 and about 20 of their plugins. I got an M1 Mac Studio and was hitting refresh on the daily waiting to get off Rosetta

      means your computer cant handle 32 instances of a plugin, or this plugin.

    • @KyleViewing
      @KyleViewing ปีที่แล้ว

      Best option depending on your daw is to switch the plugin to run outside of the daw using the ram instead of the basic ram requirements of the daw limits.

  • @JayTheLane
    @JayTheLane 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    CLA Mixhub in my honest opinion sounds more musical than SSL's Channel Strip. SSL Drumstrip, X Saturator and Flexverb are great.

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      not really. The SSL is a 9000XL (similar to J), so it's better for Hip-Hop and clean low end. You can always enable the 4000 mode. It' more accurate than the CLA - SSL probably had more consoles to choose from when modeling.

    • @flamersss
      @flamersss ปีที่แล้ว

      @@massivebeatzz would cleaning the low end for vocals (hip hop) on a SSL be better or using an actual EQ to cut off the low end to 100hz ? (muddy, boomines)

    SSL plugins are notorious for HIGH CPU usage which can spell trouble quick for most bedroom producers. Love their stuff but for this reason, I'm out.

    The SSL 2 emulates the 9000 k. If you're going to make a video understand what you're working with
