Amazing work was waiting for a full on track mixing…bit late on the episodes😂 but hey really enjoyed the video 🔥🔥🔥
Touché. Some of these ssl plugins are amazing
awesome song, beautiful voice, GREAT!
Track sounds great! Very nice.
I agree, I think it came out great.
I’m pretty sure it’s released, although I could be wrong. The artist is alex Jeffery.
I just switched over to SSL 360 a month ago. I’m fully in Luna and use a lot of the UA plug-ins but the combination of the two has been amazing. Especially using the compressor and saturation on the mix buss has created a depth that I wasn’t getting before. Along with the Neve as well… The mixes have Become 10 times better than my best to date.
1000% agree.
While UA has always sounded great and really built a great functional workflow with Luna -
SSL has really brought something awesome to the table with their tools. Great sounding plugins!
I love their stuff. Now that it’s included with UAD, it’s a no brainer.
Well, totally, but it’s slate. Not UAD. 😎👍🏻
But yes! Great value. And it’s becoming a go to for me.
@@TheSteveKinney ahhh, lol, yes it is! I have all of them, so got confused 😂
Also not a fan of subscriptions but you did feature some of their plugins that I would buy. Good song I particularly like the drummer and the highhat work.
Drummer has been on some Grammys. He is fantastic.
Grady Saxman.
And yeah! I think the offering is great for someone starting from scratch, but for everyone else who has a library of plugs, probably best to pick up perpetuals here and there.
Cheers!
Hi Steve, great videos! Iv been an Abelton Live user for years, I still hate it but I’m almost afraid to step away in fear learning a new DAW would have the same long learning curve ending in the same disappointment.I just completed a new studio which includes the SSL UF1,UC1, and 2 UF8’s and a new Mac Book Pro M2 with 3 video monitors connected by an Apollo 8 with a D-Box.My question is, are there any pit falls or something I should know or do before loading up and trying Luna?
Luna is still not friendly to outboard gear, as there is no hardware inserts function.
It’s fine tracking on the way in with outboard gear, but not going out of the box and back in.
Luna is a breeze to work with, it’s essentially pro tools, but refined for modern UI and faster workflows for editing.
Midi is abletons thing..
Luna does it, and there’s a lot of parameter control, but nothing to the degree of ableton.
Ableton is the king for edm and electronic music.
Luna is again, more like pro tools.
No multichannel output vsti’s
That’s about it. After that - it functions like everything else.
Cool part .. once you learn it, you’d be able to feel comfortable on pro tools. A lot of short cut overlap.
wondeful response ! thank you. I have not even setup the keyboard and music development side of the studio yet, the space is ready but the gear is still in the box. So your opinion is I will miss Ableton when it comes to creating music and live multichannel instrument tracking? Its worth sharing for those facing the DAW leap, after 1 day with Luna I feel like Im much further ahead then years with Abelton, at least with the mixing and mastering side of projects. My desire to perform in live settings is now diminished ( COVID and my age kinda killed that ) which is where Abelton really shined and outperformed anything else available, however, my final contribution to music industry will come from sharing what I hear and producing that sound for others to enjoy.
Actually, when we think about it, all we need is a freaking good song with freaking great players :) ! #Algreen #2micsondrum
Exactly!! Amen!!
Nice video, Great music, tracked brilliantly. I get it, you prefer something else to Flexverb. What do you prefer? Just curious. I have used Sonnox, Lexicon, SSL, and a host of Waves reverbs. For vocals, the cleaner the better (for me), so I am interested in what you like and why. you like it. Thanks,
Thanks mate! It’s a client track, lotta fun for that one.
My favorite verbs to use are actually ones that kind of have some sort of artifacts.
The UAD lexicon 224 sounds awesome! But it sounds digital. Which is cool - it’s also the reverb that you’ve heard on almost every mega hit since the 80’s.
Additionally - the RMX16 - that’s another awesome sounding verb.
Both can be clean and pristine or digital and artifactish.
Another cool reverb is the UAD precision reflection engine.
Absolutely NO ONE talks about that plugin haha 😆 but it’s absolutely awesome.
Ultimately it just depends on what the signal calls for, if you’re working on something that has to sound vintage; well then you’re gonna wanna call on a plate or spring.
If it’s something that has to sound 80’s, then you’ll want one of those digital sounding verbs that kind of sound bad but in a good way.
If you need something modern, then - Valhalla is ultra popular.
Generally speaking / I like it all. All of these devices found their place for a reason. But it’s discovering it’s use for your own productions that’s half the fun.
Cheers mate!
Updated .. flex verb is actually pretty neat.. I misunderstood how to get the most from it. haha. It's definitely something to reach for when your normal go to verb doesn't work. You can choose different algorithms for the earl and long reflections, really weird.. but wildly useful.
Where is your low end? Something is very wrong with the low end with this mix. At least here on youtube
Wasn’t a finished mix. Mostly for demonstration.
Great video. What drum samples are you using?😊
They were recorded live in a session studio.
The only thing that's a sample is parts of the snare, and I would have used EZ drummer to essentially supplement the recorded snare.
Which pack I used - offhand, I'm not 100% certain, but I wanna say I used the "Gospel EZX".. that pack had some snares that were very similar to the original recording.
I'd have to pull the project back up and dig through to figure out the exact packs.
vintage drive, flexverb & bus v2
Amazing choices!!
Bus v2 absolutely rocks
Now (from 15 November )you can get slate digital subscription with it
This is badass, should I look at that new partnership?
I just got it with Slate Digital but I've been using SSL by waves so I'm very curious to how it all compares
I absolutely love it. It’s starting to be my go to plugins.
Particularly the new ssl 4K
@TheSteveKinney yesss I've been going to those SSL emulations a lot lately as well since checking this video!
@@zhollowstudios I’m working on a new Luna template that creates an entire ssl 4K desk workflow.
And it utilizes the deep integration with the channel strip plugins and the UF8 / UF1
Use it in every mix
Love it! It’s crazy - I filmed this so many weeks ago and so much has changed!
New UF1 - they made the 4kB available stand alone haha 😆
All my gripes have been fixed!
@@TheSteveKinney yeah man, the integration with the hardware is crazy, waiting on your review of the UF1 btw
@@diegooliveirabenjamin woot!
Waiting on my arrival haha 😂
I do plan on getting one and most definitely will review. I’ve even prepped my UF8 macros and have an update file for the Luna template.
I’m ready LOL
The tracks at the bottom spell BEPSI
😂😂
Ssl plugins work in uad Apollo ?
SSL plugins aren’t UAD-2, they are just VST3 or AU, so they load into daw’s inserts.
So, in other words, nope. The Apollo won’t process them in real time. The Apollo will only process UAD-2 in real-time.
@@TheSteveKinney yea i thought so...but it looks like hes inserting them in uad console
@@mrmorpheus9707 that’s Luna.
Which is a DAW - based around console.
@@TheSteveKinney Luna. Is uad Apollo bro...Thats what i asked, you said no! But i get it...thanx
Great video, please never make me listen to country again
Bro please dont say "SSL plugs"...
😂😂💀
I’ll say whatever I want, but.. noted ha ha
@@TheSteveKinney king
subscription? no thank you.
Keep an eye on their Instagram.
They run mega sales just about once every other month and you can usually get a plugin perpetual license for 80-95%. Not joking.
Cheers!
Slate digital is adding the complete subscription to the all access starting nov 8 till nov 15 so get it and hurry up
