    All of those little holes were for the pigeons to roost in so the the people could get there droppings and use it for fertilizer. At 8:39 into the video. So whenever you see the smaller holes that are obviously to small for a human that’s what they were for. We had one of the best guides we could of had I feel. He teaches at the University of Cappadocia and is also a tour guide. He said that the people don’t collect the droppings anymore because of the advances in fertilizer. Such an awesome place and when you know the real history there it really puts it all into perspective.

      Which cave did you stay at? I stayed at Emily's cave house for 2 months! Such a interesting experience, I loved waking at 4am sipping my cay ☕ and watching all the hot air balloons 🎈fly over, it was so magical in fact I had to do it and with no regrets. Türkiye is so enchanting, it's my favorite country of all! 🇹🇷👏

      @@sunny_dhende6289 , I stayed at the Yunak Evleri Cappadocia Cave Hotel. It was a little ways away from where the Hot air Balloons were but we could still see them from our hotel. It’s such a magical place and it’s like you can feel all of the history there. I’m jealous you got to stay there for 2 months, I would love to do that! How much was it for you to stay at Emily’s Cave hotel per night or month? I’ll definitely be going back there again sometime!! Oh and that was in Ürgüp Turkey 🇹🇷

      @@robertm9490 It was in the little town if Gorme and only 700tl a month which was about 110 usd back in 2016. Today the Turkish lyra is fantastic it would be like 87usd a month! I also rented a SUV for 135usd a month. I lived in Istanbul for 7 years just so I could travel to all regions of Turkey and throughly enjoyed it! I consider Türkiye my second home. I covered alot of miles but still so much more to see. I hope you get a chance to go back and travel more throughout that enchanting country. Happy trails, traveling does a body good.😁🧳🛫🛬✌

I won't stay and stay until I'm out of money though and then can't go now that I have a full time job. I actually seen begging Western tourists in Thailand and Korea who were probably broke English teachers not going back to work soon enough.

    • @Worldofourown2024

      Cool. They were stinky pigeon boxes! I thought those rooms could have been small business shops during the centuries past. Thanks for telling as that makes sense for the pigeon was an important food source for them back in the stone ages before chickens were common place. Those birds are so funny. They come up to you for free food and will even enter your apartment, but will never trust us as if we're going to snatch and kill them. I'm like, 'bird I would not eat you for the grocery store sells plump chickens.' I imagine Cappadocia stank to high heavens in centuries past for there were no toilets and running water nor bleach and water hoses to clean the rooms.

    So this is what I think. Rock carving must have advanced at some point, probably around 10-15K years ago. And the first uses were making tombs in the side of rock mountains, like you see here. This tech spread all over the ancient world, even to the Americas. And then the Egyptian Pyramids were trying to recreate the rock mountain tombs. Since they did not have mountains in the desert in Egypt, they made their own mountains.

    I was on another site not long ago, and someone mentioned wanting to go to Turkey. Someone else responded--"What's in Turkey? NOBODY wants to go on vacation to Turkey". I found that amusing, because I have long known about the beauty and amazing things to see in Turkey. Are they not teaching geography and ancient history in the schools anymore? Even if they're not--that's no excuse to stay ignorant about the world we live in. Needless to say--I corrected that person's misconception.

    • @saratemp790
      @saratemp790 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or maybe, they just broke everything up into large chunks first. With some kind of chipped cracks and then leverage to pry it off. Then final step, they sanded it.

    • @saratemp790
      @saratemp790 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am replying to myself, lol. And further thought, with the large rock chunks they chipped off, they took those and made those large stones into some kind of free standing temples or building someplace. Maybe brought them far away for that too.

    All those cubby holes are from something called a dovecote, back in the day, pigeons and doves were kept for messaging, their meat, and eggs. The eggs especially were considered delicacy, but yeah. You can find dovecotes all over the uk, Europe and the Middle East, some of which are truly ancient. Edit: as you likely noticed, they had to keep multitudes of them to even come close to filling the requirement for consumption, looootsa birds lol

    The following explained Caves looks similar like Cappadokia:
    Guyaju Caves
    are the ruins of a cave complex that may have served as dwellings for a fortified community situated in a valley near present-day Dongmenying, Yanqing District, Beijing, China.
    The origins of the community are mysterious due to uncertainty about the founding people and later disappearance of the community. It is presumed the ruins are about 1000 years old and date back to the last period of the Tang Dynasty and the beginning of the Liao Dynasty. The work is attributed to a Mongolic steppe tribe called Kumo Xi.
    The site is composed of 117 caves and more than 350 rooms and halls. The cave rooms are packed close to each other and in some places are cut at different levels of the same cliff face, giving the appearance of a multistory building. Every room has its defined purpose: communal events, royal quarters, religious rituals, cooking, storage, livestock, living, etc. It has its own drainage and water storage system.

    The whole complex was built in 1987 for a sci-fi movie that was to star the actor Lorne Greene and Olivia Newton John. They are constructed of concrete and horse hair. The funding for the film was withdrawn by the mafia who were under severe financial strain due a new crime bill. The idea of the movie was recently revived with money from Welsh miners benevolent fund, but after constructing more phallic houses again funding ceased when it was discovered the Greene had passed away on 11th Feb 1997.
