Installing a Pelican Case on to a Prinsu Roof Rack

Preparing my Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro for an epic adventure and step one is installing a Pelican 1750 Case on to my Prinsu Rack. This is quick install to help with storage. The Pelican Case is water and dust proofed when attached to the Prinsu Roof Rack.

You could probably try putting paint on the ends of the screws in the future to find the position for them a bit easier than scratches.

I have a Prinsu. I used to purchase galvanized carriage bolts from Home Depot for my rack but I've had waaaaay too many of those bolts shear off. It took me a while to realize that Home Depot's galvanized hardware is crap. Now I just order stainless.

Shearing off! What are you doing that bolts are shearing off? I have used galvanized bolts from Home Depot on all my racks for decades with no issues. I never heard of these bolts shearing off.

@@cheynewalls Not doing anything crazy, lol. Attaching LED lights, an awning, a Waterport, etc. Maybe the supplier to my Home Depot just had a bad batch, but I bought about 50 of them in a bag, and I'm having all sorts of issues with them. Shearing off is just one of them. I've even seen a couple rust, which, that's certainly not supposed to happen to galvanized hardware. And I've also found that their sizes have not been consistent at all. I only purchased 1/4-20 carriage bolts and yet, half of them will slide in the Prinsu grooves and 1/2 won't at all. The galvanized carriage bolts at my Home Depot are absolute garbage.

As opposed to the silicone and the lock tight, it might be beneficial to consider a rubber washer under the flat washer and using nylon nuts. The would essentially make it waterproof and not likely to come loose without the mess of the silicone and the the inability to remove with ease the red lock tight would cause. Nothing wrong with how you did it, just looking at alternatives if you would wanted to be able to remove the case with ease after trips.

Thanks Cory, but you can't use rubber washers on a setup like this. With all the differing temps from very hot to sub zero will crack the rubber washers, losing the water proofing. Saw this first hand on one a friends truck. Cheers

Nice instruction. I also want to install a case on my roof rack because they look sick. But practically I don’t know why I really need it. So what stuffs do you usually put into that case?

I keep recovery gear, ax, saw, extra tripods and a tool bag. Its stuff that is just always nice to have while on road trips or camping. Cheers

Thank you, I used 1/4" x 1" bolts to attach the case to Prinsu rack.
