Zemo isn't Hydra. He used hydra for Intel, but generally in mcu he is an Independent party. What zemo gets out of it, is he hates super-powered people, like super soldiers. Like in civil war, he put all the other winter soldiers down before the cap vs Ironman fight

Bucky does not lack "Game" or social skills. If you recall, he was the ladies man in the First cap movie; he is the guy that hooked Steve up with dates. Bucky said he spent the last 90 years going from fight to fight; he also remembers every person he has killed; thus his List of people he needs to make amends to. There is a reason he stays distant from some people.
Its actually 80 years. Well 79 if we're being technical. If it was 90 years he'd have started fighting when he was 16 but he was 25 when he got conscripted. Zemo is apparently on the list, which is stupid since he has no reason to make amends to that guy. Also that Senator: he helped her get into power presumably by eliminating her rivesl, so he's not making amends to her.

I think because he uses the tools of Hydra to destroy them the less vigilant viewers get confused. Reactors fall victim to this more because their attention is split during viewing and many aren't like taking notes to keep track from film to film.
The moment when Bucky says "If he was wrong about you, he was wrong about me..." It's so brilliant in the way that it shows so much insecurity in Bucky's redemption thus far. Yes, he's trying to be a good dude and make up for what he did as The Winter Soldier, but it's not until he admits that he's terrified that Steve was wrong that he starts to heal. Sam, of course, is going to have an antagonistic brother-like relationship with Bucky. They were both Steve's best friends for a reason and are brothers in many ways. I loved this one. I thought it was so layered. Next episode you're going to get Sebastian Stan's maybe finest performance as Bucky Barnes. The brutality, the comedy, the raw emotion, it's a masterpiece. There's a decent amount of action that episode but if you can pay attention to the dialogue, it's hilarious and also poignant.
Zemo was actually never part of hydra, but rather a soldier for sokovia. He just sifted through hydra’s files and information to get what he wanted to cripple the avengers, through some ‘questionable’ methods.
Zemo was in Captain America Civil War, and if you remember, he was against superheroes (he got rid of all the sleeping Winter Soldiers) because his family died back in Sokovia (Age of Ultron), I believe. So that's why he killed Nagel. He's not a fan of superheroes, especially super-soldiers, so he got rid of the scientist who could create more of them
I loved how they wrote this series. It's completely cannon, and makes reference to historical events. Making it so stronger. And everyone involved in the cast was so top notch. Even if Wyatt Russell looks like Carl from ''Up" when he's wearing the mask.

Bucky jumping out of the plane just because he knows he can is one of my favorite little scenes in the MCU. Shows how durable whatever Hydra juiced him with made him, and implies he's done it before and knows he'll be fine.
@loganbigmo except that it's explicitly not the SSS since no one was able to replicate Erskine's formula until the guy in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and even then that version still made Walker all twitchy. At best it was a Hydra knock off of the SSS. There's the stuff Howard Stark had when he was killed but that was given to the other Winter Soldiers and it's unclear how close to the original formula that was.
@@Murphiroth No, it was the Super Soldier Serum. They even mention in this very show that Bucky has the serum, and that Bucky is a super soldier. No one managed to replicate Erskine's perfected serum until Nagel (the guy in this show), but people have made it before. Red Guardian from _Black Widow_ got the Soviet Super Soldier Serum in the 1980s. Bucky got one created by HYDRA in 1940s. Howard Stark made the Super Soldier Serum (mentioned in Civil War & in this show) but it was vastly imperfect, hence why HYDRA hired Nagel. In spite of what many say, this is actually my favorite Disney+ show to date. John Walker is such a complex character and I love it. This is gonna be a short journey but damn it’s gonna be a fun one The plane scene had a lot of CGI, but they did do a lot of wire work with Anthony and had a real plane for them to interact and do stuff with. If you wanna see the BTS I’d recommend watching their Assembled series (they’ve been doing it for every project since Wandavision) Yup, that was indeed Georges St-Pierre “Spend a little time in Wakanda you come out White Panther” “It’s actually White Wolf” “Huh?” That little back and forth was my favorite Something to notice, John always introduces himself as “John Walker, Captain America” or just “Captain America” whereas Steve always no matter what simply introduced himself as “Steve Rogers.” Already showing the contrast between the two “Cap’s wingmen” my dude they’re Steve’s friends In the comics, Isaiah Bradley was “Black” Captain America Refresher (just in case): Zemo was the guy from Civil War who wanted to “watch an empire fall.” He’s not part of HYDRA, remember he drowned that HYDRA guy in his sink to get the notebook with Bucky’s trigger words “I stole the wings for your ass to save his ass from his ass” iconic 🤣 Zemo dancing was such an internet breaking moment. Daniel Brühl revealed in an interview there was more footage of him dancing and that lead to people demanding they #ReleaseTheZemoCut and Marvel embraced the meme and the day before Episode 4 aired they released a video of the extended dancing sequence being looped for over an hour 🤣 Hey look at Alex catching the callbacks! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 but I will say it was Civil War and Bucky asked Sam to move his seat. So this is his petty revenge for that 😅 The next episode is my absolute favorite and I can’t wait to see Alex’s reaction. I already know it’s gonna be good
This show can get really uneven but there are parts that I absolutely love. One of the greatest things is the dynamic between Sam, Bucky, and Zemo. They're chemistry together is magic.
I get a little annoyed when people call him a straight up horrible guy and ignore all the character stuff about him they showed. He is has been through some very traumatic stuff and is absolutely arrogant and a hot head. However, he is also shown to be a good man that is really just trying to do what he believes is the right thing to do.

Great episode reactions! 😊 This is my 3rd favorite of the MCU Disney+ shows. This one had to be shut down in the middle of filming, and the plot line with the Flagsmashers had to be re-worked due to the pandemic. The second half of the series is my favorite. The call back to Sam asking about moving the car seat up was from "Captain America: Civil War" when Bucky was sitting in the backseat, and asked Sam to move the seat up. It was right before the airport fight. And Sam and Bucky were watching Steve and Sharon kiss. The actor who plays John Walker, the new Captain America, is actor Wyatt Russell. He's the son of actor Kurt Russell, who played Star-Lord's father Ego in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

Great reaction and it's fun to see how varied the themes are between the various movies and shows. All of the Captain America, Falcon, Winter Soldier stuff is very much a political thriller which is interesting. I also really like how the villains have evolved from the simple "I want to take over the world b/c I'm evil" to the more complex where they have a valid point, even if their methods are wrong. One of the things this show does well is explore the logistical fallout of Thanos' snap and folks being blipped for 5 years. When folks were gone for five years, how many homes were foreclosed on, or cars repossessed, or lack of credit, or all kinds of things that having everyone instantly reappear would cause ALL SORTS of legal nightmares and property disputes. (As a lawyer Alex, I'm sure you could brainstorm some pretty interesting scenarios with that). So, it'd make sense that there would be some disenfranchised folks that got the short end of the stick when everyone came back that would be thinking, "things were better during the blip" and I think that's what makes the flag smashers interesting. Regarding "scrub captain america", it's useful to remember one of the big themes from Captain America: Civil War. The government wanted those "Sokovia Accords" because they didn't like the idea of Avengers being their own independent entity that wasn't subservient to a government. That's what the "civil war" part was about: Tony agreed w/ the idea of government oversight while Steve did not. Well, even though those accords ended up losing all meaning due to Thanos, the fact that the government STILL has this feeling of "we need the avengers on board" is rearing its' ugly head here. That's the reason that John Walker was named "new captain america" was that the government saw the opportunity to "get someone that will play ball" and fall in line with what the government wants him to do instead of following his own heart like Steve did. This ongoing sentiment is leading up to an upcoming movie, "The Thunderbolts" (summer of 2024), which is the government's team of "heroes" that will "play ball", but you see those seeds are being sowed here. Another thing being sowed here: Eli Bradley (grandson of Isiah Bradley) is YET ANOTHER teenager being introduced right after Billy and Tommy in WandaVision. As the phase 4 shows and movies continue on, make note of the teenagers. (There was a comic line called "Young Avengers", just sayin') Regarding your question about if Tony or Steve would come back, that "may" happen although nothing is confirmed, just lots of rumors. Starting with Loki (the next show after this one), the multiversal timeline becomes an important macguffin which opens the doors for pretty much anything to happen, "because multiverse". As far as WOULD they come back, I think that neither Robert Downey Jr., nor Chris Evans want to come back, "just to come back" - they'd want their return to be special and mean something. So, if they write a compelling enough and interesting enough story that lets them do something new with the characters that doesn't feel like a cash grab, then they'll likely be happy to come back. That same, "because multiverse" is how they are going to bring deadpool and the x-men into the mcu, the first easter egg of which is seen here: "Madripoor" is a fictional island nation that featured heavily in many x-men and mutant-themed storylines in the comics, so by having it here in the mcu is a subtle nod to, "good things are coming". Really interested for you to put your lawyer hat on and hear what you think about the legal fuckus of the snap and folks' return. It'd be a nightmare for sure. Cheers
As others have said, Zemo isn't Hydra. He killed a lot of Hydra and other Winter Soldiers in the Civil War movie. He hates Hydra for pushing supersoldiers like Red Skull and Winter Soldiers. He also wanted revenge on the Avengers for the death of his family in Sokovia so he pushed the division between Stark and Bucky in Civil War to tear apart the Avengers.
Zemo shot the guy who makes the serum because he’s adamantly against the creation of super powered people. He’ll do anything to destroy every trace of super powers. As he blames people like the Avengers for the death of his family (CA: Civil War). He actually killed the other “winter soldiers” in CA: Civil War. The reason Bucky and Sam recruited him is because he knows a lot about the inner workings of Hydra, while not being Hydra himself.
I'm glad you're reacting to this, this is a great show, and Bucky is my favorite MCU character because he has gone through so much. The song they used to introduce the new Captain America is the same song that was used when Cap was doing the bond tour. Just hyped up. Zemo is the best part of this show. There will be a season two. Zemo's out to destroy all of the Super Soldier serum. Yeah, the appearance of the Dora Milaje gave me goosebumps, too.

Isaiah Bradly was one of my favorite parts of this series, his story is tragic and I love the emotion in his voice when he talks about his past. I really hope we see more of him and his grandson in the future.

Zemo is a mere human but with so much dedication and wit he broke the avengers apart. Writing for him was good and that German actor guy whose name i forgot also played him exceptionally well in Civil war. And he didn't do worse in the series.
I really wish we could have seen this series as it was originally slated to be. But this was hit very hard by covid. The were filming most things on location, so the lock down brought production to a stand still. And it's the reason Emily Vancamp (Sharon) was filming for her show and unable to come back to location and film. So she ends up on the phone for most scenes. But the biggest and worst change was they had to remove a huge storyline. This is very noticeable in the middle episodes. Originally people were dying from an unknown disease. That's the medicine/ vaccines Karlie keeps bringing up. But that was just too close to what was going on with covid 🤷🏿♀️
Regarding fake art at the Louvre: an accurate figure is impossible since there are undoubtedly forgeries floating around assumed to be original, but most of the art on the walls at the Louvre is original, with some recreations. The real cool thing is that the art on the walls is less than 1% of what the Louvre actually owns, most of their art is in storage, or lent to exhibitions around the world.
11:02 It always surprises me to think about the realistic financial situation of heroes in the MCU. Steve mentionned in Age of Ultron that he can't afford a place in Brooklyn, & Sam can't get a loan - it's crazy to think that they risk their lives to save everyone so often, yet they don't earn enuff to pay the bills sometimes. Definitely makes sense why they had the Avengers compound lol.
This is a close second among the shows in the ranking for me. Loki is my overall favorite, so far. I truly did enjoy this show, it wasn’t perfect, but what show is 🤷♀️ The character progression and world building of a post Thanos MCU is solid. The set ups for the future are good as well. In the second episode, I liked how they kind of summed up the mentality of Sam, Bucky, & John Walker. Especially John Walker, with one line we knew how he saw the world at that time. When he told Dr. Christina Raynor that Bucky was an asset. That is how Hydra viewed and treated Bucky, a weapon to be controlled.
“Craptain America” is a really interesting character. It’s a deep cut, but in the opening Madripoor scene (yep it’s a fictional place) they walk past a bar that wolverine used to spend a lot of time at. One of the first x-men Easter eggs in the MCU.
The thing with having a new captain america is these guys LOVED Steve. And it feels like he's trying to replace him. And they just can't handle that. Imagine if someone came along and said they're going to replace your best friend after they died.

Falcon & Winter Soldier is not one of the strongest Disney+ shows but the last three episodes definitely make up for it! & I can’t believe you didn’t leave Zemo dancing at the party in the edited version, it’s one of the best parts 😂
I enjoyed F+WS personally, I liked the slower pace and getting to know a couple of ancillary characters who have been around for some time but always got overshadowed by being in someone elses movie.

Nah too many shortcomings for me. Terrible villain, plot holes all over the place, Sam is just not a strong enough lead honestly Bucky is the more interesting character and they didn't focus on him nearly enough especially with all his PTSD that they hinted at in the first episode. And the forced racism and preachy nonsense was cringe.
If you missed it, the "moving your seat up" part was a fun call back to Captain America Civil War. The scene were Cap kissed Sharon after she broke their weapons out of lock up, then at that point, she became an enemy of the United States.
Alex, Zemo will shoot you point blank, if you say that he is from Hydra, He hates Hydra, he hates their image, motto and everything else that is hydra. He knows their entire secrets, and he is totally against super soldiers, and hydra. Remember in Captain America Civil War, Zemo led Bucky and Cap (The real one) to Siberia where he had already shot the 5 other winter soldiers in their sleep, and when bucky discovers that, Zemo coldly says, if it is any comfort, they died in their sleep. I mean they were in Cryofreeze, but Zemo still put a bullet each in them, shows how much he hates super soldiers and the super soldier program. Those 5 winter soldiers were completely hydra, and he ended them, no questions asked. And now you know why Zemo shot Dr. Wilfred Nagel, he hates the super soldier program and anyone can re-create that serum, will be stopped by Baron Zemo.
Bucky became one of my favourite character if not the fave really fast, so this series was a treat as I got waaayyy much of him. His dynamic with others and especially Sam was *chef's kiss*. This series made me most emotional out of everything from Disney+ -not counting -*-spoilers!!!!-*- MoonKnight ep5 where I was bawling the moment those doors opened till the end-

I have the same feeling about John Walker that I did about King Joffrey in Game Of Thrones. I love the actors playing them because they do a really good job of making us hate their characters. I do however have more sympathy for Walker. He's got big shoes to fill.
Walker is effectively what the millitary originally wanted. not a bad person but, he is someone who feels the need to prove himself and not just stick to his convictions like steve. might not seem like much but, makes a hell of a difference.
Just FYI, Zemo never worked for HYDRA; he's former Sokovian special forces. His family were killed during the Avengers' fight with Ultron so now he hates superheroes/superpowered people in general. In _Civil War_ he stole that HYDRA book from an agent of theirs with the brainwashing phrases that could manipulate Bucky as part of his plan to turn the Avengers (particularly Steve and Tony) against each other.

Zemo isn’t hydra, he’s the villain from captain america civil war. in case you need a refresher, his family died in sokovia when the avengers were fighting ultron, and he was trying to tear the avengers apart by getting tony to attack bucky at the end of the movie. his whole belief system revolves around the fact that super heroes and super soldiers shouldn’t exist because they cause harm to normal people.
As a fan of the Wolverine comics, can I just say: MADRIPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR! I hope they use that setting someday, it's like a cross between casablanca and indiana jones, with supervillains and femme fatales, the whole nine yards.

Once you’ve finished the official MCU stuff, I highly recommend you watch Agents of SHIELD. The first half of the first season is comparably weak, mostly establishment and what not, but it ends up being one of the most emotionally satisfying shows in recent memory. It’s an action SF TV show with NO filler and some truly incredible writing. An ensemble where everyone matters, and a comment from season one can reappear 3 seasons later for a call back. It’s the Anti-Game of Thrones, as it gets TIGHTER, writing wise, as it progresses. Your approach to the MCU as a whole suggests you’re going to LOVE it. It’s tie-ins, like with Winter Soldier in particular, can’t be underestimated. Oh, and the helicarrier used in Age of Ultron originated with AoS, as well as the tool Fury uses to escape Bucky in Winter Soldier. The power of Fitzsimmons. And that’s all I’ll say about that.

Yeah, I had a few issues in the show. I think they mishandled Bucky's arc and development badly because they wanted Sam to be front and center. Buck is my favourite MCU character, so that annoyed me no end. It never really once acknowledged how he was victimized by HYDRA and instead made out he was kind of complicit, and the "making amends" thing really bothered me because its placing the impetus on a HYDRA victim to make right for what they did to other victims. Also: everything with Zemo. There is no way that Bucky would have broken out Zemo unless he had abolutely no other option. Did they forget that King T'Challa was his friend, and that Zemo killed his frends's father? Like one of Bucky's defining traits is loyalty to his friends: and yet in the series he slaps the Wakandans in the face with everything related to Zemo.
Baron Helmut Zemo was Royalty and a Colonel in the Sokovian Army. In Sokovia, (Age of Ultron), his family were killed when the Avengers came and he was the protagonist in Civil War.
Zemo is from Civil War who framed Bucky. Sharon is Peggy Carter's niece. And yes this show is not as engaging as Wandavision BUT as all of these shows do, it sets up future stuff. That's what a lot of Phase 4 is, but it certainly has its big deal moments. The next show is LOKI, now THAT one is realy good and introduces a much grander concept that will be a huge factor in the next two AVENGERS films at the end of Phase 6.
A lot of this had to be rewritten after the show started filming, the original script was about a virus outbreak, then Covid happened and they thought it was too insensitive to go that route.

Also, Alex, it's not just a subtle comedic moment, it's a callback to Civil War, where Bucky was behind, and he asked Sam to move his seat up, and due to the Winter Soldier programming still in him at that time, Bucky was unstable, anyone could activate him, by chanting the Hydra Formula. So, Sam did not move his seat up, and kind of kept Bucky as a prisoner over there. So bucky just got back at him for that, hence why Sam directly asked him, you are not going to move your seat up are you? And bucky instantly replies Nope.
This show is really good. It got messed up by the pandemic, and they had to change story elements a lot at the last minute so it didn’t come out the best.

The moment when Bucky says "If he was wrong about you, he was wrong about me..." It's so brilliant in the way that it shows so much insecurity in Bucky's redemption thus far. Yes, he's trying to be a good dude and make up for what he did as The Winter Soldier, but it's not until he admits that he's terrified that Steve was wrong that he starts to heal. Sam, of course, is going to have an antagonistic brother-like relationship with Bucky. They were both Steve's best friends for a reason and are brothers in many ways.
I loved this one. I thought it was so layered. Next episode you're going to get Sebastian Stan's maybe finest performance as Bucky Barnes. The brutality, the comedy, the raw emotion, it's a masterpiece. There's a decent amount of action that episode but if you can pay attention to the dialogue, it's hilarious and also poignant.
Zemo was actually never part of hydra, but rather a soldier for sokovia. He just sifted through hydra’s files and information to get what he wanted to cripple the avengers, through some ‘questionable’ methods.
Zemo was in Captain America Civil War, and if you remember, he was against superheroes (he got rid of all the sleeping Winter Soldiers) because his family died back in Sokovia (Age of Ultron), I believe. So that's why he killed Nagel. He's not a fan of superheroes, especially super-soldiers, so he got rid of the scientist who could create more of them

I loved how they wrote this series. It's completely cannon, and makes reference to historical events. Making it so stronger. And everyone involved in the cast was so top notch. Even if Wyatt Russell looks like Carl from ''Up" when he's wearing the mask.

@loganbigmo except that it's explicitly not the SSS since no one was able to replicate Erskine's formula until the guy in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and even then that version still made Walker all twitchy. At best it was a Hydra knock off of the SSS.
There's the stuff Howard Stark had when he was killed but that was given to the other Winter Soldiers and it's unclear how close to the original formula that was.

No one managed to replicate Erskine's perfected serum until Nagel (the guy in this show), but people have made it before. Red Guardian from _Black Widow_ got the Soviet Super Soldier Serum in the 1980s. Bucky got one created by HYDRA in 1940s.
Howard Stark made the Super Soldier Serum (mentioned in Civil War & in this show) but it was vastly imperfect, hence why HYDRA hired Nagel.
Don't forget Emil Blonsky, the guy from _The Incredible Hulk_ who received the serum sometime after the events of _Iron Man 1_

The plane scene had a lot of CGI, but they did do a lot of wire work with Anthony and had a real plane for them to interact and do stuff with. If you wanna see the BTS I’d recommend watching their Assembled series (they’ve been doing it for every project since Wandavision)

John Walker is The Best Character of the Show in my opinion, and one of the Best Marvel characters in recent years
This show can get really uneven but there are parts that I absolutely love. One of the greatest things is the dynamic between Sam, Bucky, and Zemo. They're chemistry together is magic.
Yea, some of the episodes tend to be action-heavy at the beginning, and then slower toward the end, but they were overall enjoyable.
I honestly feel so bad for Walker. He didn’t ask for any of this.
I get a little annoyed when people call him a straight up horrible guy and ignore all the character stuff about him they showed. He is has been through some very traumatic stuff and is absolutely arrogant and a hot head. However, he is also shown to be a good man that is really just trying to do what he believes is the right thing to do.

This is my 3rd favorite of the MCU Disney+ shows.
This one had to be shut down in the middle of filming, and the plot line with the Flagsmashers had to be re-worked due to the pandemic.
The second half of the series is my favorite.
The call back to Sam asking about moving the car seat up was from "Captain America: Civil War" when Bucky was sitting in the backseat, and asked Sam to move the seat up. It was right before the airport fight. And Sam and Bucky were watching Steve and Sharon kiss.
The actor who plays John Walker, the new Captain America, is actor Wyatt Russell. He's the son of actor Kurt Russell, who played Star-Lord's father Ego in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2".

Great reaction and it's fun to see how varied the themes are between the various movies and shows. All of the Captain America, Falcon, Winter Soldier stuff is very much a political thriller which is interesting. I also really like how the villains have evolved from the simple "I want to take over the world b/c I'm evil" to the more complex where they have a valid point, even if their methods are wrong.
One of the things this show does well is explore the logistical fallout of Thanos' snap and folks being blipped for 5 years. When folks were gone for five years, how many homes were foreclosed on, or cars repossessed, or lack of credit, or all kinds of things that having everyone instantly reappear would cause ALL SORTS of legal nightmares and property disputes. (As a lawyer Alex, I'm sure you could brainstorm some pretty interesting scenarios with that). So, it'd make sense that there would be some disenfranchised folks that got the short end of the stick when everyone came back that would be thinking, "things were better during the blip" and I think that's what makes the flag smashers interesting.
Regarding "scrub captain america", it's useful to remember one of the big themes from Captain America: Civil War. The government wanted those "Sokovia Accords" because they didn't like the idea of Avengers being their own independent entity that wasn't subservient to a government. That's what the "civil war" part was about: Tony agreed w/ the idea of government oversight while Steve did not. Well, even though those accords ended up losing all meaning due to Thanos, the fact that the government STILL has this feeling of "we need the avengers on board" is rearing its' ugly head here. That's the reason that John Walker was named "new captain america" was that the government saw the opportunity to "get someone that will play ball" and fall in line with what the government wants him to do instead of following his own heart like Steve did. This ongoing sentiment is leading up to an upcoming movie, "The Thunderbolts" (summer of 2024), which is the government's team of "heroes" that will "play ball", but you see those seeds are being sowed here.
Another thing being sowed here: Eli Bradley (grandson of Isiah Bradley) is YET ANOTHER teenager being introduced right after Billy and Tommy in WandaVision. As the phase 4 shows and movies continue on, make note of the teenagers. (There was a comic line called "Young Avengers", just sayin')
Regarding your question about if Tony or Steve would come back, that "may" happen although nothing is confirmed, just lots of rumors. Starting with Loki (the next show after this one), the multiversal timeline becomes an important macguffin which opens the doors for pretty much anything to happen, "because multiverse". As far as WOULD they come back, I think that neither Robert Downey Jr., nor Chris Evans want to come back, "just to come back" - they'd want their return to be special and mean something. So, if they write a compelling enough and interesting enough story that lets them do something new with the characters that doesn't feel like a cash grab, then they'll likely be happy to come back. That same, "because multiverse" is how they are going to bring deadpool and the x-men into the mcu, the first easter egg of which is seen here: "Madripoor" is a fictional island nation that featured heavily in many x-men and mutant-themed storylines in the comics, so by having it here in the mcu is a subtle nod to, "good things are coming".
Really interested for you to put your lawyer hat on and hear what you think about the legal fuckus of the snap and folks' return. It'd be a nightmare for sure.

As others have said, Zemo isn't Hydra. He killed a lot of Hydra and other Winter Soldiers in the Civil War movie. He hates Hydra for pushing supersoldiers like Red Skull and Winter Soldiers. He also wanted revenge on the Avengers for the death of his family in Sokovia so he pushed the division between Stark and Bucky in Civil War to tear apart the Avengers.

Zemo shot the guy who makes the serum because he’s adamantly against the creation of super powered people. He’ll do anything to destroy every trace of super powers. As he blames people like the Avengers for the death of his family (CA: Civil War). He actually killed the other “winter soldiers” in CA: Civil War.
The reason Bucky and Sam recruited him is because he knows a lot about the inner workings of Hydra, while not being Hydra himself.

I really wish we could have seen this series as it was originally slated to be. But this was hit very hard by covid. The were filming most things on location, so the lock down brought production to a stand still. And it's the reason Emily Vancamp (Sharon) was filming for her show and unable to come back to location and film. So she ends up on the phone for most scenes. But the biggest and worst change was they had to remove a huge storyline. This is very noticeable in the middle episodes. Originally people were dying from an unknown disease. That's the medicine/ vaccines Karlie keeps bringing up. But that was just too close to what was going on with covid 🤷🏿♀️
I love that these shows give us the time with the stories and characters that the movies just can't with their run times.
Regarding fake art at the Louvre: an accurate figure is impossible since there are undoubtedly forgeries floating around assumed to be original, but most of the art on the walls at the Louvre is original, with some recreations. The real cool thing is that the art on the walls is less than 1% of what the Louvre actually owns, most of their art is in storage, or lent to exhibitions around the world.

The character progression and world building of a post Thanos MCU is solid. The set ups for the future are good as well.
In the second episode, I liked how they kind of summed up the mentality of Sam, Bucky, & John Walker. Especially John Walker, with one line we knew how he saw the world at that time. When he told Dr. Christina Raynor that Bucky was an asset. That is how Hydra viewed and treated Bucky, a weapon to be controlled.

“Craptain America” is a really interesting character. It’s a deep cut, but in the opening Madripoor scene (yep it’s a fictional place) they walk past a bar that wolverine used to spend a lot of time at. One of the first x-men Easter eggs in the MCU.
The thing with having a new captain america is these guys LOVED Steve. And it feels like he's trying to replace him. And they just can't handle that. Imagine if someone came along and said they're going to replace your best friend after they died.

I enjoyed F+WS personally, I liked the slower pace and getting to know a couple of ancillary characters who have been around for some time but always got overshadowed by being in someone elses movie.

Nah too many shortcomings for me. Terrible villain, plot holes all over the place, Sam is just not a strong enough lead honestly Bucky is the more interesting character and they didn't focus on him nearly enough especially with all his PTSD that they hinted at in the first episode. And the forced racism and preachy nonsense was cringe.

If you missed it, the "moving your seat up" part was a fun call back to Captain America Civil War. The scene were Cap kissed Sharon after she broke their weapons out of lock up, then at that point, she became an enemy of the United States.

The bit about the car seats is a call back to civil War when Sam refused to move.

Alex, Zemo will shoot you point blank, if you say that he is from Hydra, He hates Hydra, he hates their image, motto and everything else that is hydra. He knows their entire secrets, and he is totally against super soldiers, and hydra. Remember in Captain America Civil War, Zemo led Bucky and Cap (The real one) to Siberia where he had already shot the 5 other winter soldiers in their sleep, and when bucky discovers that, Zemo coldly says, if it is any comfort, they died in their sleep. I mean they were in Cryofreeze, but Zemo still put a bullet each in them, shows how much he hates super soldiers and the super soldier program. Those 5 winter soldiers were completely hydra, and he ended them, no questions asked.
And now you know why Zemo shot Dr. Wilfred Nagel, he hates the super soldier program and anyone can re-create that serum, will be stopped by Baron Zemo.

Bucky became one of my favourite character if not the fave really fast, so this series was a treat as I got waaayyy much of him. His dynamic with others and especially Sam was *chef's kiss*. This series made me most emotional out of everything from Disney+

I have the same feeling about John Walker that I did about King Joffrey in Game Of Thrones. I love the actors playing them because they do a really good job of making us hate their characters. I do however have more sympathy for Walker. He's got big shoes to fill.
Walker is effectively what the millitary originally wanted. not a bad person but, he is someone who feels the need to prove himself and not just stick to his convictions like steve. might not seem like much but, makes a hell of a difference.
Just FYI, Zemo never worked for HYDRA; he's former Sokovian special forces. His family were killed during the Avengers' fight with Ultron so now he hates superheroes/superpowered people in general. In _Civil War_ he stole that HYDRA book from an agent of theirs with the brainwashing phrases that could manipulate Bucky as part of his plan to turn the Avengers (particularly Steve and Tony) against each other.

Zemo isn’t hydra, he’s the villain from captain america civil war. in case you need a refresher, his family died in sokovia when the avengers were fighting ultron, and he was trying to tear the avengers apart by getting tony to attack bucky at the end of the movie. his whole belief system revolves around the fact that super heroes and super soldiers shouldn’t exist because they cause harm to normal people.
I did love the part where Alex said "I got to stop talking" OMG we all laughed and laughed....good times, goooood times :)

Once you’ve finished the official MCU stuff, I highly recommend you watch Agents of SHIELD. The first half of the first season is comparably weak, mostly establishment and what not, but it ends up being one of the most emotionally satisfying shows in recent memory. It’s an action SF TV show with NO filler and some truly incredible writing. An ensemble where everyone matters, and a comment from season one can reappear 3 seasons later for a call back. It’s the Anti-Game of Thrones, as it gets TIGHTER, writing wise, as it progresses.
Your approach to the MCU as a whole suggests you’re going to LOVE it. It’s tie-ins, like with Winter Soldier in particular, can’t be underestimated. Oh, and the helicarrier used in Age of Ultron originated with AoS, as well as the tool Fury uses to escape Bucky in Winter Soldier.

I know you keep calling him the Hydra dude, but if you'll remember in Civil War he was anti-Hydra. He found a book with information in it and followed it to Hydro operatives and then killed them. So he's not with Hydra, he just got super pissed at them and did everything in his power to destroy them after all of their information was put out on the internet but Black Widow. He wanted revenge for the death of his family.

Yeah, I had a few issues in the show. I think they mishandled Bucky's arc and development badly because they wanted Sam to be front and center. Buck is my favourite MCU character, so that annoyed me no end. It never really once acknowledged how he was victimized by HYDRA and instead made out he was kind of complicit, and the "making amends" thing really bothered me because its placing the impetus on a HYDRA victim to make right for what they did to other victims.
Also: everything with Zemo. There is no way that Bucky would have broken out Zemo unless he had abolutely no other option. Did they forget that King T'Challa was his friend, and that Zemo killed his frends's father? Like one of Bucky's defining traits is loyalty to his friends: and yet in the series he slaps the Wakandans in the face with everything related to Zemo.

Baron Helmut Zemo was Royalty and a Colonel in the Sokovian Army. In Sokovia, (Age of Ultron), his family were killed when the Avengers came and he was the protagonist in Civil War.

Zemo is from Civil War who framed Bucky. Sharon is Peggy Carter's niece. And yes this show is not as engaging as Wandavision BUT as all of these shows do, it sets up future stuff. That's what a lot of Phase 4 is, but it certainly has its big deal moments. The next show is LOKI, now THAT one is realy good and introduces a much grander concept that will be a huge factor in the next two AVENGERS films at the end of Phase 6.
A lot of this had to be rewritten after the show started filming, the original script was about a virus outbreak, then Covid happened and they thought it was too insensitive to go that route.
Witch is a shame, that would make Flagsmashers more fleshed out and stronger vilans.

Also, Alex, it's not just a subtle comedic moment, it's a callback to Civil War, where Bucky was behind, and he asked Sam to move his seat up, and due to the Winter Soldier programming still in him at that time, Bucky was unstable, anyone could activate him, by chanting the Hydra Formula. So, Sam did not move his seat up, and kind of kept Bucky as a prisoner over there. So bucky just got back at him for that, hence why Sam directly asked him, you are not going to move your seat up are you? And bucky instantly replies Nope.
