Very good videography of the parts. A collet would be the proper way to grasp and hold that chuck shaft. Edit: And how come no one ever shows where that forward/reverse lever detent spring goes?

My Makita drill skips a lot. I opened up and while tightening the chuck, it's skips and keeps going rather than just stay tight. I noticed those 2 small cylinders at 6:37 is what skips. Anyway I can fix it without buying the whole gear assembly?

You can try to fix it but if they are to much worn out then they need replacing. good luck
