I took the time and effort to level up that Mt. Moon Magikarp way back in the day! Remains my favorite moment in Pokemon, especially given the trouble I went through to do it. Since I was a dumb kid, I bought a load of Potions to heal it without restoring PP and run it out of Splash, then have it Struggle its way up. Eventually I found out it didn't have to land the KO to land the EXP, so leveled it that way until Tackle. Then I went right back to being a dumb kid because more EXP per fight seemed faster than more fights with less EXP. I felt so vindicated when that little weakling evolved into one of the Pokemon to carry me through the league and Elite Four, and to this day it's the reason I justify myself for not giving up on people for being dim witted or weak. Who knows? Maybe I just happened across a human Magikarp, and with enough patience a Gyarados will arise?
Kulrig Alestout Same, I was like wow what a wierd fish he sucks. My intuition got the best of me and I was like I’m going to keep it!!! When it learned talk I thought it was so useful
@adam zarbon No, that's just what Sw/Shield does. You give magikrap an exp share in older generations, and half of the EXP gained goes to the holder, and only the holder. AKA, everyone else does work, the owner gets most of the benefit. Capitalism.
Zapdos x Gyarados were enemies in Ancient times? I can see Zapdos minding it's own buisness flying over the Deep ocean with a Thunderstorm behind it,only to have 6-7 Gyarados firing Hyper Beams and x3 more Summoning a Dragon Rage/Twister.
Gyarados is my all-time favorite Pokemon to use competitively, second being Gengar. I have as many Gyarados sets as I have competitive teams, because his stats, movepool and abilities make him so versatile (especially when Megas were still a thing). I even have a bulky Gyarados with just enough speed EVs to outspeed Jolteon specifically (which I used mainly during gen V), yet still survive some serious whomping from the typical offensive threats of the time outside of Garchomp. Let me tell you, my shiny Scizor was scared, yet proud, to be on the same team as that Gyarados :3
I always liked the Magikarp-Gyarados thing. That, even if you start out weak, if you put in the hard work and patience you can be rewarded with something great. The only thing that I didn't like about Gyarados is there is still no water-dragon version. I mean, I know what they made Gyarados water-flying in the first game to nurf it a bit (water-dragon would have had no weaknesses in gen 1, basically making Gyarados on par with legendaries) but things have changed a lot since then.
Idk about the competitive scene, but I used gyarados in a playthrough for soul silver (after years of just brushing it off) and it became my favorite water pokemon next to vaporeon(same story). It not only carried my through claire's gym(I used the red one), but tore through the elite four and even tanked Lance's annoying as hell dragonites. Plan on getting a plushie for it soon like i did vaporeon.
i remember going through the game hwn i was little before watching the episode where magikarp evolve sinto gyarados in the show, i was a stubborn kid and decided to check what magikarp evolved into, i was not dissapointed and i told all my friends thta magikarp evolved in a freakig dragon thing, they of course didn't believe me, then the episode on the show came and i got my very first taste of "i told you so" moments. Now, can you do Vaporeon please?? he's the original bulky water type

I used garados quite a lot in online play, I mega evolve it and dragon dance once or twice and it becomes freaking monster, hes helped me out of many tight situations. in gen 6 everyone seemed to forget it looses its flying type for a dark type, so many people used rock type moves and avoided fighting type moves on him. it was kinda funny. I didn't encounter many Zapdos players but I swear to god it seemed like everyone had a damn jolteon on their team, that was the biggest threat to my garados.
Not sure if i ever went up against you online, but jolteon is one of the pokemon i use on my team. In the 4 on 4 doubles i used vivillon, mega medicham, seismitoad, and jolteon. Vaporeon and flareon are the other two on my full team.
I think he was not so good back in gen 2, the stats are awesome but he can't be offensive because there wasno move for Scizor, the only good move that i remember is Steel Wing. I saw Scizor more like a defense shield / baton pass.
Scizor was used mainly for BP teams with agility+swords dance. One stab attack in the form of Steel Wing/HP Bug if he could handle one or two hits before passing the stats. I used him along with Agi/Amnesia girafarig to set up my Marowak.
Gyarados has always been sort of a wild card of help for me. When I was playing through Y version, I caught a Gyarados just to have a water type and it became an MVP of the team.
A thing that comes up in every video is how the special split, both the stat and the moves, had major effects on each 'mon, such as basically removing someone from the field and then bringing them back. I'd love to see a video that, instead of one specific 'mon, looks over how those changes facilitated certain types. Or even an overview of a type in general. For instance, you don't see a lot of Grass types in competitive.
It's shame that, in the grand scheme of things, Gen 1 Gyarados was still outclassed. However, you can't help but appreciate the fact that compared to all those other options and even Blastoise, Gyarados was probably a much better option, nay, the BEST option when just playing through the story mode, since Starmie and Lapras were late game, and Gengar is a trade Pokemon, so that wasn't an option for a lot of people (re: me). The fact that you can get him even before beating Misty means you'd probably be using him over Starmie or Lapras, since you still needed to grind them to replace Gyarados.
Fun fact. I left that Magikarp you buy in the daycare below Cerulean and somehow forgot about it slightly. When I somehow came back it knew flail and I somehow trained it to become Gyarados.
Sir Colco just a case of no one paying attention to a pokemon until it gets a really easy tool. Scyther! Here is why: Scyther has really gone through a lot of changes, from being cursed with poor typing and moves in Gen 1, to slowly gaining better capabilities each generation. He has been used as a sweeper and as a baton-pass support. His evolution, Scizor, I consider more of an alternate form because they have the same base stat total, just Scyther's speed is shifted into Scizor's defense. I'd like to see an analysis of the two pokemon as they compare to eachother. Also useful or not, Scyther is the undisputed coolest ninja/bug pokemon.

Me too I want that (I let a comment on all of is HGWPkMn (How GOOD was Pokemon) to says than I want Chansey next ... I try that from the Dragonite video if I remember good )
The problem with Chansey is that between Gens 2-4, Blissey was used over it due to there being no Eviolite, so if there would happen to be a Chansey vid, I can imagine it'd be a lot shorter than normal.
The Vengeful 'Vadam Yes , but FSGaming could also talk about the Little Cup for the Gen 2 & 3 et talk a bit how he was use in Gen 4 in the UU , and then talk about the Gen 5-7 and how evolved in the strategy of the OU
Walrus814 Mew would be better in my opinion. First for gens uber the second gen the best uber pokemon (according to smogon) Then in 5th gen into uu for some reason. Gen 6 and 7 in ou. Would be a rollercoaster and also exploring the uber tier
Gyarados is one of my favourite pokemon from the kanto region. I always had a team of twelve strong pokemon, and Gyarados for every game (red, blue and yellow) would be in my top tier; in fact, he's the only one. I leave him in the daycare in cerulean, and train it up to one level, so it can evolve.
To be honest dragon types are not that good anymore cuz of fairys, dark typing is a lot better for countering mewtwo and strong psychic types, look at alolan muk lol, so much better after it turned dark
Reposting my comment from another person who said the same thing: I think moreso than being "Dragonic", Gyarados has a bigger identity as an enraged berserker. Most of its pokedex entries talk about how angry Gyarados always is, and Lake of Rage was MADE by a bunch of Gyarados' throwing a massive tantrum. Since Dark type is associated with evil, violence, cruelty, etc, it made it a more fitting type for it. (Also note that the dark type is called "あくAku" evil type in Japan.)
My boy got Power Whip in Sword and Shield!! 😀😀😀 Now bulky waters can forget about countering it and tremble in fear instead especially fucking Rotom-Wash!!! 😬😏😬😏
They get worse every Gen. Jolteon now competes with a plethora of offensive Electrics that make it look mediocre in one regard or another. Vaporeon is outclassed by Alolomola and Wish Chansey/Blissey has been around even longer and there are better bulky Waters. Flare Blitz on Flareon would've been helpful 3 GENS AGO before Darmanitan and Victini, but then Infernape existed at the time.
gyarados was op already with its water flying type...if you gave it the water dragon type, it would definitely be a god or legendary pokemon ingame. think about how hard it is to take down kingdra who has less than 100 on every stat...well gyarados HAS a higher attack and higher sp. defense plus the intimidate.
Considering you mentioned Zapdos so much, I guess it has been pretty good always. How about doing a vid about it and as well as the other legendary birds?

It was going to be a dragon but in Gen 1 water dragon wouldn’t have had any weaknesses due to the only dragon move being dragon rage
Hurdedur psychic types didn’t have any weaknesses either(not counting the pathetic bug type)

Walrus814 Mew would be better in my opinion. First for gens uber the second gen the best uber pokemon (according to smogon)
Then in 5th gen into uu for some reason. Gen 6 and 7 in ou. Would be a rollercoaster and also exploring the uber tier
Fyodor Voynich III yea in gen 1 I was talking about gen 2.
i agree
Yeah, like that would ever happen.
WHY NOT MEGA EVOLVE INTO DRAGON??
Jo King it would be to op XD mega gyarados is still pretty op by itself though
How about mega miolotic
Kingdra? lul, it would outclas fucking Palkia and maybe even Primal Kyogre.
To be honest dragon types are not that good anymore cuz of fairys, dark typing is a lot better for countering mewtwo and strong psychic types, look at alolan muk lol, so much better after it turned dark
Reposting my comment from another person who said the same thing:
I think moreso than being "Dragonic", Gyarados has a bigger identity as an enraged berserker.
Jolteon next? It seems it has fallen down in usage based on your other videos
desperate turd I agree Jolteon should be next
PandaBoy 874 I would like jolteon as well but there are too many dominant choices right now :/
Gyarados is the Pokemon equivalent of bullying that one kid in school who turned out to be Dwayne Johnson
Hey can you do Agumon next plz
up
start9
Luis Moldes ya
yes please this! Agumon is my favourite dragon ball z character
A few months too late
Keep making these videos! Would love to see Flygon and Salamence!
Gyarados is the most underrated Pokémon and should be one of the most valuable cards along with Mew and Mewtwo.
Do Machamp!
Like for Machamp!
MCP In future videos Vaporeon!
MCP I agree. Machamp!
I'm definitely looking forward to Machamp.
Primape is better than machamp, AND ALSO, HE ALREADY DID A VIDEO FOR MACHAMP! PLEASE GO WATCH IT!
Nintendonian777 That comment was made a month ago
Do Machamp next the fighting type King!
The king* even tho its Never Used
typo error, should be fighting type queen
Green Lizard Taking the line way too seriously. Plus I'm pretty sure Machamp was never NU (either UU or higher).
Skeeter Mania uhm dude machamp is NU now
It litterly takes 5 seconds to do your research
www.smogon.com/dex/sm/pokemon/machamp/
Green Lizard Could always change considering the lack of movesets and analysis.
Please do Tyranitar!!!!
Not going to lie those original 151 battles in Stadium look so intense.
I love Gyarados! great video. I would love a video on Tyranitar!
My boy got Power Whip in Sword and Shield!! 😀😀😀
Now bulky waters can forget about countering it and tremble in fear instead especially fucking Rotom-Wash!!! 😬😏😬😏
Try tyranitar? Or some other gen 2 pokemon?
Cloyster?
yes.
Gyarados gave me my first victory in the battle frontier.
I love that fella
God this is in desperate need of a remake
Alright! Do Tyranitar!
D.C Harmony I think he is only doing the gen 1 ones. But ttar has utter godly top tier every gen.
I'm pretty sure he said it was alright for other gens. Everyone chooses gen 1 though for some reason.
IDK? He might do Tyranitar, in the future!
I wouldn't mind seeing Tyranitar.
He said he would do any gen not just gen 1
do sandslash or gligar please there some of my favorites
Gyarados is my favorite pokemon ever. Thanks for the video!
If it hasn't already been done, I would love to hear about Mew
Great videos! I only recently discovered your channel, but I'm already hooked =)
I'd love to see:
- Smeargle
- Togepi line
- Porygon line
Arcanine?
do Nidoking
I thought I was the only one. :P
Nidokiiiiing~
do nidoking
nidoking the "first male pokemon"
Marvin Ellis nidoran was the 1st male Pokemon
Marvin Ellis actually in gen 1 Nidoking was non binary while nidoran was male
Ryan San Agustin it evolved from a male Pokémon and isn't pre-gen 6 azurill so it was male
Chansey/Blissey next please
Good Job on these videos, really loving these!
Great videos, bro! Chansey will be an awesome feature.
What about jolteon, vaporeon and flareon?
They get worse every Gen. Jolteon now competes with a plethora of offensive Electrics that make it look mediocre in one regard or another. Vaporeon is outclassed by Alolomola and Wish Chansey/Blissey has been around even longer and there are better bulky Waters. Flare Blitz on Flareon would've been helpful 3 GENS AGO before Darmanitan and Victini, but then Infernape existed at the time.
DrCoeloCephalo I have seen you on a verlis video
Mayks Spark Yeah!! Jolteon next!!
Only thing that got it any usage in Gen 1 was the fact it got Pin Missile. Also note Electrode was faster.
Yeah, we need to get some Eevee-lution love.
how about Scizor ?
Can you do Metagross please. He's my favourite
one of mine too :)
Well we must say that gyarados got so much help from change in damage category. It could use it's highest stat now!
Such a great video!
Do poliwrath!
gyarados was op already with its water flying type...if you gave it the water dragon type, it would definitely be a god or legendary pokemon ingame.
think about how hard it is to take down kingdra who has less than 100 on every stat...well gyarados HAS a higher attack and higher sp. defense plus the intimidate.
@Jacob Choi Not really. Palkia prefers Special oriented attacking as oppose to Gyarados who goes the Physical Route.
Easy answer: Garchomp
I want to see Primeape!
Considering you mentioned Zapdos so much, I guess it has been pretty good always. How about doing a vid about it and as well as the other legendary birds?
I am simple man. You cover a pokemon I like; I give a like.
