Very helpful for me! I know some crafters know these things intuitively but I really benefit from step by step real time tutorials. Please do more finishing tutorials. Can you show the same small or ornament dry mounted, with one layer of batting and then show another with 2 layers of batting? Place them next to each other so we can see the difference between them, please?

The finish is beautiful! I am not a fan of using hot glue on stitched pieces so the dots and tape was super helpful-I feel more confident trying to finish even a small piece after seeing your tutorial-thank you so much🙂🙂

I use applique pins along the edges of my board (foam core or matte board usually) until i get it perfectly aligned. Then i use double sided lawn fawn tape on the back to hold the excess down. Sometimes I leave the pins in and sometimes I remove them. I just use what i have on hand and it turns out great. There is a way to tie a bow and it lay flat with both right sides up. You can search how to tie a perfect bow on youtube and find several videos.

Thank you for showing this finish and the lovely backer board! Part of the reason that I gave up cross-stitch 20 years ago is because I couldn’t afford to frame everything I made. I sewed a lot of towels, bread cloths, and bibs so that I could stitch without having to frame everything! I think I’m going to have to get some of Chantal‘s awesome boards! I would like to do one that has a Fabric back, and then Velcro hidden below so that you could switch out your stitchery for each season and it would stick to the Velcro. Still rolling around in my mind how I would do that. Of course, I also want to purchase this pattern! TFS!

Your creation is beautiful, Nichol. Chantel and you both did a fabulous job. Sadly, I didn’t listen and mine is too big (25 count Lugana 🤦🏻‍♀️) for the lovely display piece, so I will turn mine into a pillow. I felt bad that I couldn’t order the item from Chantel, so I bought the manger piece from her for my Nativity cross stitch. Thank you so much, Nichol. This was so much fun! Happy Thanksgiving!

You might check your finished piece and see if it will still fit. It measures: Overall measurements of display piece are 18 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W x 4" D.
Another viewer told me she thought it would still fit!

Oh, that's gorgeous! I wish I would have known about those sticky dots and tape before I finished my little patriotic squares. The hot glue works great for attaching to the board, but boy howdy, did I struggle with those corners! 🤪 Good to know for future projects, tho. I loved this video (especially that little peek of your sweet Odin! 🥰🐶). And I'd love to see more how-to finish videos!! Happy Thanksgiving, Nichol!!

    • @NicholSpohrLLC
