Besides when he talks about getting motivation from other movies it’s like a scene that he wanted to do for his movie but differently. He made all the new characters and plot. Pulp fiction, django, inglorious basterds, and reservoir dogs are all his idea and he created them all his own way. Tell me what movies did he copy for django, inglorious basterds, pulp fiction, true Romance, once upon a Time in Hollywood, and kill bill from?

@@festo8756 u know that there’s literally countless iconic movies you can try and make connections about that have similar plot. For example dr strange and iron man, the fugitive and minority report, rear window and disturbia and I could keep going. A bunch of movies have Star Wars premise doesn’t mean it’s a knockoff. You calling them knockoffs after looking up what movies are similar to true romance online is hilarious. Besides taxi driver was Tarantino’s favorites film and true romance was his first screenplay. Regarding badlands the only thing I can think of that was taken from it was Clarence and kit, and hollys accent. Badlands was actually inspired from a true crime case that happened in real life. Which inspired natural born killers and more. Now tell me how the rest are “copies” not tryna hate either I just can’t believe people think he copied a movie that’s total bullshit

That's what I love about Tarantino's films - they don't force to follow the traditional template of characters going from point A to point B, instead they're instead just a free-flowing director's sandbox where stuff just goes

Hearing Tarantino explain the idea makes me even more confident that Pulp Fiction is the first piece postmodern art I ever enteracted with. If anyone wants an overly elaborate version of this kind of thought process, but revolving around drug addiction/recovery instead of the ethics of a hitman, read Infinite Jest

Man I wish there was a spin off show in the 90s set in the world of pulp fiction. And like the movie be inspired by crime novels/mags/comics. And since the movie feels like 3 episodes of a tv show stitched together they can just have each ep be their own thing with completely different characters too

Tarantino knows what an audience wants to see, knows how to accomplish it with a smaller budget, and is set on doing something very unique every single time even when you think you’ve seen it before. When that man has a movie coming out, I have no idea why the theaters don’t fill up for $1B. Bro is a genius.
