  • Well, I am sorry for not uploading but hey ho, we move!
    On this video, we worked on a BMW X3 30i goodness. 2 separate jobs on the same car, both has something to do with heat. Fortunately for the customer, we managed to save him some £££ by correctly diagnosing his vehicle and also by getting some help from my fellow mechanics; again, you guys know who you are, thank you!
    We then moved on to doing a Toyota Aygo Clutch as his clutch pedal felt very 'floppy'. We attended the customer to find out that his concentric slave cylinder is continuously leaking clutch/brake fluid.

    Please don't use Textar Ceratec grease on sliding pins or any other parts that have direct contact with rubber. They will seize again. Correct product should be silicone based e.g. Permatex Silicone Ceramic Extreme.

      I thought they were fine with rubber as they’re not metal based. What is it that makes it bad for rubber? 🤔
      Thank you in advance

      @@themarvelousvlog should use red rubber grease

      I read that silicone is best now due to heat resistance and the ceramic silicone is even better?@@mohitl1697

    I noticed you are using textar brake grease. This is mineral based and is ok to use on the brake pad contact points. But not on the slider pins as it will cause swelling of the rubber guides. Use red rubber grease or silicone grease where there is rubber.

      I can’t lie to you, I still get it muddled up. If you call up and say to me “Got a Yaris here”, I’ll still call it Aygo somewhat when ordering parts etc… no excuse hahaha!

    Aigo, Yugo, we go Glasgow. Don’t know if a Yugo would make it that far though.

    The rubber boot that the brake slider slides though, can start sticking because of aluminium builds up that white powder corrosion between the calliper and the rubber causing it bind. Iv come across this on older mini’s. Sorry for the life story. Great content btw

    The piston seal is tapered and the tip deforms when you brake and when you stop braking it springs back and very very slightly pulls the piston away from the pad/disc. If the calipers even slightly rusty between the seal and dustcover this very light pull cant overcome the rust... so they might look free, but not enough not to stick

    Question- what does the secondary water pump do that the main water pump can’t? Is that something special to BMWs?

    • @themarvelousvlog
      @themarvelousvlog  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not specific to BMW mate. A lot of manufacturers use it, like VAG. It’s mainly for cooling for when the engine is turned off. The pump will keep circulating water to stop components from cooking the oil(ish), and for when it’s running, to make sure that your engine temp is at optimum temperature at all times even at low speeds/standstill

    • @AJB1
      @AJB1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@themarvelousvlog On some of the VAG ones at least, it also lets the engine warm up faster. The mechanically driven pump flows water just through the head I think, and then there's a separate circuit which flows through the whole block etc.. Either way, by running only one circuit when the engine is totally cold, it can start to warm up the most important bits more quickly.

    Why has it lost a litre of coolant

    • @themarvelousvlog
      @themarvelousvlog  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As you can see, the coolant is new as it was newly bled (not by us but the dealership where he got it from). Probably was just an airlock. We are servicing it soon, so we will be checking the level to make sure he’s not losing it anywhere else
