If you actually read the scriptures, it is written by Moses himself that the trip from Egypt to Canaan would have taken two weeks. Thus, to say they had no sense of direction is inaccurate. They did have maps back then too you know. They spent 40 years in the wilderness as a form of discipline. Pick up the book and you may actually learn something.

I believe there is good reason to trust that the Exodus is historical based off of biblical profecies that have come true and the fact that Jesus himself affirmed biblical Exodus. If God really did raise Jesus from the dead (I have good reason to believe that he did) then I can say based off his authority alone that it was historical.

I come from a family that was very, very loosely Christian when I was a child, that gradually became totally Atheist as I got older. This morning, my mother and I heard something the radio discussing what the Jewish holiday of Passover was. I casually let out a comment of "it never happened", and my Mum was quick to tell me that I was wrong because it was one of the true stories in the Bible with lots of historical evidence. She's atheist, but still believes that there's a lot more truth in the Bible than there really is. And she didn't believe me when I protested that there wasn't any evidence other than the Bible itself. So I went and found this video (I've been following the channel for while) and we listened to it together. It was very enlightening for her! Thank you for teaching me this part of Bible history and then teaching my Mum about it too!

Be careful with what this guys says. There is so many things wrong with this. For instance, lets look at how he started. He started by talking about all the statues and hieroglyphics we have from Egypt and makes the argument that none of them say anything about the Hebrews. Of course not. He was right that they were meticulous record keepers but almost everything we have from Egypt comes from the walls of its temples and palaces. The engravings on the walls of the temples were meant to honor the gods and the ones on the Palaces were meant to honor their kings. The Egyptians didn't engrave their failings on the walls of temples and palaces. Egypt was blessed with lots of papyrus reeds. They recorded their day to day activities on papyrus scrolls called "day scrolls." Papyrus doesn't last long anywhere but in the most protected of places and even there they don't always last. In a good climate they last maybe 100 years or so. The Nile Delta is very wet and the sands constantly shifting. It preserves very little. In fact, Rameses II the pharaoh of the late chronology Exodus doesn't have any day scrolls from his administration, which is one of the longest reigns in Egyptian history, known today. Even the famous Amarna letters didn't survive. Only some letters that were sent on stone. So this guy begins with a very incomplete understanding on the kinds of things that Egyptians recorded on their walls and the problems associated with the Nile Delta.

I once saw a brilliant response to an evangelical who said he "literally believed everything in the Bible, because...word of God, bla bla". The response was : so obviously you must be sacrificing rams and oxen on a stone altar in your backyard. Doesn't it disturb the neighbours ? He gave chapter and verse from Leviticus ( I think it was, someone more knowledgeable than me can back me up / correct me), which commanded burnt offerings to the Lord of Hosts. The Witnesses don't know much. It's amazing to me how little they know about their own organization, like the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, who do all the Witness-only books? Who are they? Are they scholars? How do they conduct the translations, from what source materials? Witnesses are not encouraged to ask these questions, but when you get out, you find yourself staring to wake up to a crapload of common sense questions that you've been kind of asked not to ask, but every other religion has these entities out front. And as a fellow former Witness, congratulations friend. You've taken the steps to start breaking the indoctrination and there's a brighter, more positive, more engaged would for you to participate in on the other side. Make friends, invest in causes you care snit, build communities on the values you actually have. The Witnesses certainly didn't want you living a better life, they needed you preaching to others about a life they probably won't earn. He acts like they are not being a Record in Egyptian archives, is this outstanding evidence against the exodus, when this really isn’t surprising, because it was very common in the ancient world for civilizations or nations to just simply not mention the persons name or anything about them if they didn’t like the person, mentioning the persons name was seen as you giving them light. A couple years ago i had a talk with a guy who was convinced the bible was true, and when i challenged him to show evidence of Exodus he literally came at me with "they found chariot wheels in the Red Sea" which was a spoof headline from a joke website that somehow made it into creationist circles as actual evidence. He told me he eventually talked to his preacher who in private conversation confessed to him that the Exodus probably did not happen. I asked the guy "how many times from the pulpit did your preacher rely this information to his congregation?" to which of course the answer was "not once".
Cuz if they tell the truth, the collection plate money might be reduced. Sigh. How odd it must feel to be in the business promoting integrity and yet.... also claim that some things are just "too true" to share with the masses because they won't understand. And in the video the priest admits he does not believe everything in the bible to be true. When the atheist asked if the priest relies these thoughts to his congregation he says no, and that they would not be able to digest such information.
As someone who was raised Mormon, I would beg to disagree with the title of this video. Book of Mormon history definitely fails harder than Bible history.

Unfortunately that seems very unlikely since they are now dominantly having an Islamic-based culture. Same with the Turkic people. I love their Ancient Culture before most of them choosed Islam; they were Tengrists and Buddists and some of their culture was similiar to today's Tibetian culture; in modern world there are only about 5 or so Turkic groups who have kinda kept their Ancient Culture but their number is too low... The Egyptians write everything down, including the bad stuff. They would have talked about the plagues and a large army drowning along with the Pharaoh. In fact, the Pharaoh is never named. How convenient. Christians argue that it was because Moses meant to not mention his name as an insult.

I don't see any evidence of an Exodus anything like what is described in the Bible, but if it had occurred, the Egyptian government would likely have ignored it or twisted it to make themselves look like liberators.

From what I theorize from this video is that when Egypt conquered the land that will become Israel. Some of those people who stayed there had to make up some stories at some point on why and how they got there and why it was their land. And the narrative changed from a conquest to an exodus. The slaying of the local population stayed the same. Just the cause changed.

When are you going to correct Pt 1? Do a search for David Rohl's work. It falsifies considerable amounts of this video. For all the bluster and elephant hurling, you haven't done due diligence; this isn't an objective historical video at all, but I am not surprised that so many are convinced by it. If you actually read the scriptures, it is written by Moses himself that the trip from Egypt to Canaan would have taken two weeks. Thus, to say they had no sense of direction is inaccurate. They did have maps back then too you know. They spent 40 years in the wilderness as a form of discipline. Pick up the book and you may actually learn something.

I believe there is good reason to trust that the Exodus is historical based off of biblical profecies that have come true and the fact that Jesus himself affirmed biblical Exodus.
If God really did raise Jesus from the dead (I have good reason to believe that he did) then I can say based off his authority alone that it was historical.

I come from a family that was very, very loosely Christian when I was a child, that gradually became totally Atheist as I got older. This morning, my mother and I heard something the radio discussing what the Jewish holiday of Passover was. I casually let out a comment of "it never happened", and my Mum was quick to tell me that I was wrong because it was one of the true stories in the Bible with lots of historical evidence. She's atheist, but still believes that there's a lot more truth in the Bible than there really is. And she didn't believe me when I protested that there wasn't any evidence other than the Bible itself. So I went and found this video (I've been following the channel for while) and we listened to it together. It was very enlightening for her! Thank you for teaching me this part of Bible history and then teaching my Mum about it too!

I know exactly what you mean. Religious beliefs are deep-set and hard to move on from. In the case of me and my mother here however, it wasn't about lingering religios beliefs but more just total mis-information. Like when people say you need to wash chicken before cooking it. That's not true at, but people learn that at some point and then to be told otherwise is shocking. She had been or that some of the Bible stories were true and that this was one of them.
(For anyone curious, please don't wash raw chicken or any other meats. The bacteria is all killed during cooking, and it lives throughout the entire piece of meat rather than just in the surface. If you wash it, all you're doing is spreading the bacteria around and creating a moist environment in which it can proliferate.)

I'd like to say this: No Christian can PROVE the Bible is the ABSOLUTE word of God. So we go off many, many pieces of evidence. Such as these:
-Even archeologists have used the Bible to find people and locations it details
-Historians have found people who the Bible said existed at a certain point, in a certain place, and they found records there.
-There have been many researches about that yes, we can't prove God's real, but we CAN prove a lot of the Bible is reliably historically accurate.
Just wait till they start archaeological research for The Book of Mormon

Be careful with what this guys says. There is so many things wrong with this.
For instance, lets look at how he started. He started by talking about all the statues and hieroglyphics we have from Egypt and makes the argument that none of them say anything about the Hebrews.
Of course not. He was right that they were meticulous record keepers but almost everything we have from Egypt comes from the walls of its temples and palaces. The engravings on the walls of the temples were meant to honor the gods and the ones on the Palaces were meant to honor their kings. The Egyptians didn't engrave their failings on the walls of temples and palaces.
Egypt was blessed with lots of papyrus reeds. They recorded their day to day activities on papyrus scrolls called "day scrolls." Papyrus doesn't last long anywhere but in the most protected of places and even there they don't always last. In a good climate they last maybe 100 years or so. The Nile Delta is very wet and the sands constantly shifting. It preserves very little. In fact, Rameses II the pharaoh of the late chronology Exodus doesn't have any day scrolls from his administration, which is one of the longest reigns in Egyptian history, known today.
Even the famous Amarna letters didn't survive. Only some letters that were sent on stone.
So this guy begins with a very incomplete understanding on the kinds of things that Egyptians recorded on their walls and the problems associated with the Nile Delta.

The Egyptians didn't see them as Hebrews....they saw them as slaves. That's it. No national identity for slaves. The Hebrews. Criminals. Captured soldiers from other countries they were at war with. Canaanites...all these people and more were lumped into 1 category.....SLAVE.

The Witnesses don't know much. It's amazing to me how little they know about their own organization, like the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, who do all the Witness-only books? Who are they? Are they scholars? How do they conduct the translations, from what source materials? Witnesses are not encouraged to ask these questions, but when you get out, you find yourself staring to wake up to a crapload of common sense questions that you've been kind of asked not to ask, but every other religion has these entities out front.
And as a fellow former Witness, congratulations friend. You've taken the steps to start breaking the indoctrination and there's a brighter, more positive, more engaged would for you to participate in on the other side. Make friends, invest in causes you care snit, build communities on the values you actually have. The Witnesses certainly didn't want you living a better life, they needed you preaching to others about a life they probably won't earn. It always angered me listening to my mother going out in "the Service" while simultaneously not being OF service to anyone. That faith has no interest in being exemplars of the ethics they preach.

He acts like they are not being a Record in Egyptian archives, is this outstanding evidence against the exodus, when this really isn’t surprising, because it was very common in the ancient world for civilizations or nations to just simply not mention the persons name or anything about them if they didn’t like the person, mentioning the persons name was seen as you giving them light. A couple years ago i had a talk with a guy who was convinced the bible was true, and when i challenged him to show evidence of Exodus he literally came at me with "they found chariot wheels in the Red Sea" which was a spoof headline from a joke website that somehow made it into creationist circles as actual evidence. He told me he eventually talked to his preacher who in private conversation confessed to him that the Exodus probably did not happen. I asked the guy "how many times from the pulpit did your preacher rely this information to his congregation?" to which of course the answer was "not once".
At least the preacher isn't a hypocrite.

You haven't proven the Christian God exists or that Jesus was the son of God. Mohammad was a real person, does that mean he was a prophet of God? From what I theorize from this video is that when Egypt conquered the land that will become Israel. Some of those people who stayed there had to make up some stories at some point on why and how they got there and why it was their land. And the narrative changed from a conquest to an exodus. The slaying of the local population stayed the same. Just the cause changed.

I've tried explaining how there's no evidence for any of this and the response I get is: "I don't believe you, you're a liar" followed by, "And any 'proofs' you show me, are also fake. Whereas I often explain the nature of the evidence. The problem is one of *attribution* to what do we attribute the things everyone, or nearly everyone, can plainly see? Atheists tend to CREATE a God that probably does not exist because they (atheists) determine the test.
