    Is it my imagination or is this the first time any knife channel has openly and up front talked about product knives that are designed for (drumroll please) “SELF DEFENSE”? So many channels will show bad guy stabber knives but politically and correctly tap dance around the fact that they are intended for self defense. Self defense is one of my primary reasons for selecting a knife to buy. Good on you and Smokey for making no apologies on the subject with this video.

      Thanks for watching! We hope no one is ever in a position to have to defend themselves but if you are then know what tools are available. Practice with the tools you do carry so you know what they, and yourself, are capable of.

    T.C. Good video bud I don’t disagree with anything you said. Edc ax/tomahawk video gonna be epic lmao. Finally someone shows the downsides of autos and specifically otf’s. Lots of people think you can deploy an otf and it will go through a person you are defending yourself against. When in fact you just created a knife malfunction.

    Cool vid, for some reasons many you tubers avoid the topic of using the knives in self defence - it's a kind of taboo, especially in my country - you're not that person luckily :) One thing was a bit lacking tho - the importance of sheaths ergonomy in case of fixed blades, especially push blades. I used to carry CS Safe Maker 2 (the little brother to the one you presented), it's awesome...but the sheath is not. It's so tight that it's virtually almost impossible to deploy it fast and instinctively (even after grinding down the little elements that lock the blade inside to make it looser). The only reasonable way I came up with for this was simply carrying it in a jacket or jeans pocket, like I would carry a folder for instance, and pulling it out, grabbing the lanyard I attached to the tip of the sheath and deploying it this way - it is the fastest one but you need two hands for that. You can also use the blade inside the sheath and smack with it like it was brass knuckles and then deploy the lethal option if necessary. I don't carry it anymore, CS TI Light 6 is a more versatile and practical tool in every way so I switched to that as my primary self defence tool. So, yeah, you can have the best fixed knife in the world but when the sheath sucks - it's close to useless all the way.

    I carry a Benchmade mini socp dagger. I love it. It locks right onto my belt really well, and I hardly know it’s there. Fortunately I haven’t had to use it, but I feel like it’ll be a great tool for the job if ever needed. It’s very comfortable in hand and it has the ring to help you hold on, or to strike with. 😃🔪

    I'm no expert, but I've settled on the PM2 as maybe the best option. It's easy to open under duress. It's long enough to be effective but still short enough to open in tighter courters. The blade shape is stabby and slicy. It functions well as an EDC so you can buy one for a user and a second that stays sharp for carry when you're out (maybe even the fully serrated version), so that you have carry over for muscle memory. The closed shape can work pretty well as a fist load if you need to improvise a non-lethal option. The ergos will keep you locked in and prevent you from sliding forward.

    • @SMKWcom
      @SMKWcom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PM2 is a great knife with a ton of different scales and blade steels to choose from 👍

    Great video!!
    As a Canadian i know we are a small part of the market. I just wish knife makers and sellers wouldn't advertise a knife for self defense.
    We are not legally allowed to carry anything let a lone a knife for self defense purposes.
    In a situation we use a knife by our laws it turns the knife into a restricted weapon and even though it was self defense we are now guilty.
    When it comes time to argue in court they will hold the sales write up against us if it states for self defense. OUR LAWS SUCK!!!!
    We can carry knifes but only as a tool and at that we are very restricted to what kind of folders we can carry.
    Which is one of the reasons I prefer to carry fixed blades. My only other gripe is id like to see belt clips on my sheaths and while I'm at it adjustable from scout carry to vertical.
    Oh another annoying law we are not allowed to conceal carry. So part of the knife has to be showing 🙄

    • @SMKWcom
      @SMKWcom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and sharing. The knife laws in America can vary between city, county, state, and location meaning you always need to be aware of where you are and where you are going, and what things could be breaking a law. We have kniferights.org is there a Canadian equivalent?
