I'm so happy to hear schrade is making the sharp finger with 1095 now instead of 7cr. I had a vintage one and have wanted to get a new one but wasn't going to waste money on crap steel.
That Demko looks awesome, but not 150 awesome, the competition at 150 for fixed blades is pretty steep, esee s35vn, lion steel sleipner/n690 and m390, cold steel 3v and San mai, tops 1095, and 154cm, becker 1095 crovan, mora and many Asian manufacturers have similar set ups for close to half the price. I kind of wish Demko wouldn’t go to d2 for a hard use blade, in my experience and many others it’s kinda brittle, I think aus10 might actually be the better choice. For 150 though can’t we get a Cpm stainless, I mean esee does it in the USA for less than 150 with micarta or g10. That lionsteel might have just knocked the bark river bravo 1 Cruwear out of 1st place for my next knife.

The DBK guys did an episode on their channel where they field tested the LS T6 and the K490 held an edge as long as K390 but field sharpened hair shaving sharp MUCH easier than K390.

It's actually pretty stupid because you can't fully appreciate the qualities of the steel because it's not slicey and of course it's strong it's an inch thick. Just my opinion of course, I'll end up re profiling mine personally.
@Derek Wood Not entirely true. Look at the composition of k390 vs k490. Given the same quality heat treat and edge geometry, k390 will have considerably higher wear resistance. Also, heat treat and edge being the same, it doesn’t make sense that the two steels have equal wear resistance in use but one of them are “much easier” to sharpen. Sharpening is technically just you wearing down the steel at the bevels to reestablish the apex. On the other end of the spectrum, I bought a minimalist last week, and it’s about the coolest little fixed blade you can get for the money. I liked the SOG in this vid. I’m glad it’s better steel than the AUS6 on the SOG I carried on deployment back in 08. Great vid! Keep making me spend my money.
@@TheFROSTER420 it was fine. Honestly the closest thing it did to being “tactical” was cutting open MREs. I still have it, and it doesn’t hold an edge forever, but it is easy to sharpen. My old knives back in my boy scout days were a machete and a kitchen knife. Didn't go out to pick them. I just made do with what I had. They did influence my preference in knives though. Fixed blades for one. Preferably be able to do both jobs of those knives. Never did find the right balance though. I've got a Ruike F-118 at the moment and it does work. Not quite as well though so when I do camp I still revert to my old combination and the Ruike is a backup. The Ruike is just a bit too thick to cook comfortably with and too short to use as a machete. Does anyone have similar preferences and has found a single knife that you'd prefer as a primary instead of a back up?
I love fixed blade knives too! The Minimalist Spear point is neat, but man, try CRKT Tailbone! Fish-spine tang is maximum ergos! Fixed blade EDC with in the pocket sheath is terrific! I have a magnetic neck sheath EDC Adventurer II. My favorite carry!!!

I have recently started to favor the small lightweight fixed blades in multiple flavors for my edc and work duties. Like the strength and ease of maintenance. Thanks DCA.
That Schrade @ $50 has insane value. I really like it and have been contemplating crossing over back to carrying a fixed blade again. Can’t decide quite yet 🤔
i recently ordered a Bastinelli BB Drago (2" fixed). I'm starting to love EDC'ing fixed blades. My other favorites are Esee Izula, Bradford Guardian 3, and Le Duck

I was watching this review, and my reception to utube went off, I started to have panic attacks, and got a cold sweat. Fortunately I got you back Dave, Awesome review.😃
That "new" kabar i remember seeing back around the time of the middle east wars when I was a teen, they just always had serrations which was a deal breaker to me. Is that the only difference?
The ADV Brutus looks like a good choice for a modern Sgian dubh. Any thoughts on other options for a modern (super steel and/or premium materials) Sgian dubh?
Hey DCA just went through my knife collection and found my old minimalist and am looking to replace it. Looking for a slightly larger and a stronger overall knife that I can get a full grip with. Looking at that MKM makro I think I’ve got a winner but I know you know and love your fixed blades so I’m asking you. Also budget is $140 thanks!

The Demko looks similar to a Cold Steel SRK Compact. But Demko fixed my main problem with the SRK. The Kraton handle of the SRK covers the end of the blade tang. But $150 for an AUS-10 or D2 blade? That’s kind of steep.
Yea can't wait for this knife to come in 3V, I will happily pay 500, and then it will come out with micarta scales, $1000, oh and then a week later s35vn, carbon fiber handle knife center exclusive only $5000 dollars. Still made in Taiwan of course but that's ok the value will be amazing 😄
@@anthonytuccillo6274 I personally like the little AD-20.5 that Demko put out there. It has a steep price tag too for a folder with AUS-10. But I thought it was important to support a guy who has created some really nice things for Cold Steel and under his own brand. I’m hoping he continues to build his brand. But damn…. $150 for a knife with no moving parts made of AUS-10? I’m hard pressed to think that’s a value. I even like the knife quite a bit. But I’m not thinking I like it $150 worth. I think it would be better if he concentrated on the AD-20.5 a bit more. Get more on the market and lower their price so more people will pick them up. I think the AD-20.5 is a knife that will easily fetch $115-$125 all day long with its standard AUS-10 steel. I think Demko needs to look more to doing an upsized AD-20.5. I know he did the AD-20 with a 3 1/2” blade. But what about a nice 4” blade AD-25? I would grab one of those in a heartbeat if it was at or under $175. Maybe even if was bumping close to the $200 price tag. But $150 for a fixed blade…….. ummmmmmmmmmm….. I’m not feelin it. I’ll stick with my $45 SRK with a 6” SK-5 blade.
That Demko is ridiculous!!!! $150 for D2 or Aus10 and rubber grips? Are you serious? For $150 you can buy so many more fixed blades with better steels and scales. Your just paying for the Demko name. Your name isn't that valuable brotha!!!
Demo makes amazing knifes , but I have to agree. Not aus10 or d2. Just knock his name down the custom knife maker list. Give it to cold steel for 80$ sold
$150 is what I paid for a leather-sheathed 4" A2 black micarta Bark River Bravo a few years ago, as they occasionally make a ton of them and blow them out to get people hooked on the brand. Yeah, things are getting more expensive but no way would I pay more than maybe $70-$80 for that Demko. (I like his AD20.5 just fine, but not at $150! I got mine used)
Well one isn't allowed to casually edc a fancy flipper (or any sharp/pointy object here really), where im from.. So as a tool for specific purposes, fixed blades are a lot more practical for me^^
I'm not a knife guy but maybe I'm 😀I'm a Canadian but my friends in Europe always come up with a bunch of new knives recently I got visitors from Austria who show me some of their collection and there were two knives that are outstanding first the Reini Rossmann Messer - Bushcraft Beaver and the APO-1S Survival Knife (AUS8) Satin Finish Nylon Sheath since I have all kinds of American and Canadian knives we always put those to the test....maybe you have a look? Also in your video, you mention the SOG Recondo FX, this knife would really fit in my collection and definitely, the Andre De Villiers Brutus, keep up with your good work I like your channel.
I pointed out a few videos ago that David placed the knives the "wrong" way on the table, was given a response and now David points it out aswell. Great attention to detail from knifecenter! Is the terracraft the successor to the principle or whatever thst was called?
Spears are cool, not enough of those being made. Some good concepts, I'd like to see some spring steel or something besides what's out there. Sog makes a spear tip, it's not very strong, screws onto a fiberglass stick. Something like this needs all metal construction, then we would be good.

I hate it when a knife is so beautiful and pristine....that i can't bring my self to use it...AM I THE ONLY ONE ?
No
The bigger Schrade looks just like Bucks Selkirk just with a different colored handle.
Tops silent hero 4, my favorite by far this year. Many hours of use for me already.
That Schrade @ $50 has insane value. I really like it and have been contemplating crossing over back to carrying a fixed blade again. Can’t decide quite yet 🤔
Check out Spanish knives. I got a Joker Pantera that reminds me of that Schrade for $40 with stainless.
Nice to see Schrade upping their game a bit.
Do all the minimalists work the new flex scales? My only reservation on the series is I hate more than one finger cutout.
they all should work
i recently ordered a Bastinelli BB Drago (2" fixed). I'm starting to love EDC'ing fixed blades. My other favorites are Esee Izula, Bradford Guardian 3, and Le Duck
Hi! Try Esse CR 2.5, perhaps? It's just beautiful to use and carry!!!
M1 caper from white river is a very good one too.
@@kylekarcher that one looks good!
The Norden Ascent stuck out as a very simplistic versatile highly useful maybe even sensible knife 👌
on that MKM Makro . how does having a magnet that close to the blade not magnetize the blade ? dont know why but even a slightly magnetized blade drives me nutz . with all the little bits that stick to it and get in the sheath and such .
Been waiting for the Hogue Extrak to get released to dealers, any idea when Knifecenter will have them in stock?
Love those CRKT minimalists!
That was nice and interesting and informative!! Thank you DCA👍👍🤠🤠🎯🎯
I was watching this review, and my reception to utube went off,
I started to have panic attacks,
and got a cold sweat.
Fortunately I got you back Dave,
Awesome review.😃
That "new" kabar i remember seeing back around the time of the middle east wars when I was a teen, they just always had serrations which was a deal breaker to me. Is that the only difference?
What an awesome knife show. DCA is the best. And Seth. I hope he continues to grow his hair. He'd fit right in with us in the 60's. Thanks guys.
Peter
You guys do a run of the Spear Point Minimalist in something better than 8cr - like you did with the Cleaver - then I'll be right there grabbing one.
Great video again! Thank you sir!
The ADV Brutus looks like a good choice for a modern Sgian dubh. Any thoughts on other options for a modern (super steel and/or premium materials) Sgian dubh?
Great question!
Which blade shape on your Minimalist, and is it important to have something similar? -DCA
@@knifecenter clip point blade and it really only has to be similar in form factor such as like I described a small edc fixed blade that handles like a bigger knife but Carrie’s like a smaller knife so nothing like the Esee izula. The Spyderco subway Bowie is also a good example of what I’m looking for if that helps
That Demko looks like it could be a classic Cold Steel offering.
I have the Persian minimalist, not too short and not too long.
Yes! Fixed blades!
Love the ka-bar
DCA convinced me to pick up the USA made Sharpfinger when they dropped and I have been so happy with it
Why don't you guys carry Anza Knives at KC? They seem to be right up your alley.
@@anthonytuccillo6274 same
@@anthonytuccillo6274 I personally like the little AD-20.5 that Demko put out there.
@@FriedPi-mc5yt something tells me Demko is not looking to lower his prices on anything lol
@@arrowheadguys7637 lol hey bro
That buckle on the top of the Kabar sheath, is to attach it to a drop leg rig.
Great show as always mate. As for the Demko Fixed Blade we would call it "AD Wombat". Cowabunga.!
That Demko is ridiculous!!!! $150 for D2 or Aus10 and rubber grips? Are you serious? For $150 you can buy so many more fixed blades with better steels and scales. Your just paying for the Demko name. Your name isn't that valuable brotha!!!
I have no idea who this demo is, but I haven't seen a single know from them that's better than a $50 knife.
Word.
Demo makes amazing knifes , but I have to agree. Not aus10 or d2. Just knock his name down the custom knife maker list. Give it to cold steel for 80$ sold
Supply and demand. If there’s no demand for it, then the price will go down.
I got mine used)
These are some nice blades you've showed us here.
hey fixed blade lovers, if you like to carry horizontal, i highly recommend using "Ulti Clip 2.2 Slim" on your kydex sheaths
Well one isn't allowed to casually edc a fancy flipper (or any sharp/pointy object here really), where im from..
So as a tool for specific purposes, fixed blades are a lot more practical for me^^
17:38 Andrew Demko Fixed Blade
I'm loving that LionSteel
I have the old timer fixed blade. It is going on my black cowboy rig.
Thanks sometimes I'll skip through other videos to get to the fixed blades lol.
AD knife shape is going to be be the Shark Foot! lol I am impressed with his fixed blade.
HOW MUCH WAS THE LAST DOUBLE EDGE KNIFE ?
great video as usual. thanks!
I pointed out a few videos ago that David placed the knives the "wrong" way on the table, was given a response and now David points it out aswell.
Great attention to detail from knifecenter!
Is the terracraft the successor to the principle or whatever thst was called?
It is roughly the same shape but is a good deal larger -DCA
@@knifecenter oh thanks! I thought it looked fairly similar, thanks as always DCA!
I can’t wait for the Demko exclusive with 3V. We all know, Andrew Demko loves 3V.
This time I'm waiting for the good version so I don't end up with 4 like I did the 20.5
Looking forward to that Demko fixed blade. Release window?
They told us "before Christmas" when we interviewed them at BLADE Show.
How do you center a fixed-blade knife?
Very carefully.
Spears are cool, not enough of those being made. Some good concepts, I'd like to see some spring steel or something besides what's out there. Sog makes a spear tip, it's not very strong, screws onto a fiberglass stick. Something like this needs all metal construction, then we would be good.
You should talk more about the alternative kydex sheaths for the mkm
A KnifeCenter & David C Andersson review without an LT Wright or two... Possibly Battlehorse as well?... A bit disappointing.
But nonetheless, a great video with some very interesting and great options. Thank you
AAAHHHHH!!! This episode is right up my alley!
The flytanium scales transform the minimalist Katana into another knife, for me it was a great upgrade. Not sure it would make sense on the smaller minimalists
They also transformed my bugout!
Always liked knives, but really got into them this year. Not sure why I picked the year where supply was most limited and prices the most high. Just ordered a sweet fixed blade, now just need to wait for someone to challenge me to a knife fight so I can test it out
The Gerber Terracraft's handle reminds me of the Lionsteel B40
I like the adv brutus
hi please do a review on the cold steel leatheneck double edge blade havint seen it on the chanel yet please im from sout africa
Hell yeah! Fixed blades
Super excited about the Sharpfinger, if I wasn't pinching pennies for another cross country move I would have picked one up by now!
The bone handles crumble into pieces from what I've seen, don't know if the issue has been fixed but look into it before getting one.
@@anthonytuccillo6274 you got a source for that?
Isn’t Demko making the knife in this video in Magnacut also? I thought Mr. Demko said in the 2022 Bladeshow interview he was making it for $250. Thanks.
The Magnacut version will be US-made and doesn't have a release date yet -DCA
@@knifecenter THANK YOU! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.
I would kill for a premium version of the minimalist with some nice handle materials and high end steel
My dream is one in magnacut 👀
Great video always 👍 thanks.
