Your videos cheer me up no end! Makes me think I can do it when having doubts. I do love a bit of Ali Express myself and for the savings, I don't mind waiting a few days. I've just taken delivery of some crash bar bags which look similar to the ones you posted. Can't wait to tune in to your next adventure. Ride safe! x
Very good update,Charlie and confirms much of what I have read about this bike. Many positive reviews and very good quality build, especially for the price. Certainly a nice looking bike and glad that it’s working out for you. Cheers and safe riding, Dan ✌️🏍🇨🇦
How nice to see you're happy with your bike. Wish you many many happy miles riding it!! I'm now already thinking of next year's tour. UK, Slovenia....so many nice options. Planning will help me make it through the winter :) Take care, drive safe Charlie!!
Hi Charlie, Im glad its not just me that scratches tanks, i did a real corker with the buckle on in my jacket. Needless to say, there's a protector in place now. Im glad you're still getting on famously with Bella. Ive mentioned before that i have the 650NK. Its been 100% reliable, no issues of any kind. Its a well built bike thats as good as any on the market in my opinion. Ive had all the usual Japanese bikes in the past which were good as well, but the CF is up there with them for riding pleasure and reliability. Hope all your gear arrives soon for your upcoming trip north.🏍️ Ride safe😊😀
Thank you, Charlie for that informative video, this could be the bike that my wife gets in early part of next year when it comes to Canada, we’re hoping that the lowering linkage that you had showed before will work for her, as needs a low seat. I’m glad you had ordered from AliExpress. I have never ordered from them but seeing that you received your order, I think I might order from them. Thank you for your video. Looking forward to your next one.
I’m really pleased you are happy with Bella. The tank protectors look perfect and the tank bag too. I’ve had a few bike accessories from Ali Express and haven’t been disappointed yet but you can end up with the odd bit of ‘crap’. Would be great see to an accessory fitting vlog, if only to smile at your inventive use of terminology 😊
Thanks for the update. This bike is on my radar together with the Himalayan 452. I've also recently discovered Ali Express and have ordered a few bits and bobs, currently waiting for them to arrive. The tank bag looks like a knock-off of the Givi Tanklok system, which is a brilliant system as I have one on my other bike. I'm looking forward to the Uncle Wang delivery and your assessment of the goods.
I noticed the same thing as you when I fitted the extension piece to the filler cap for the tank bag on my 800MT, you can't lift the filler cap without removing the tank bag because the filler cap key won't come out unless the cap is down; so the key gets in the way.
Currently selling my Africa twin to fund the 450mt absolutely loved everything about the bike. So Australian high country riding will be much easier. Love your video.
Hi Charlie thanks for sharing. I like the extras you have put on Bella, sensible additions I'd say. The water in the down tubes is a issue but drilling a hole too allow the water out will help. Some folk spray a water repellent inside too try an prevent corrosion but I think CF MOTO will come up with a better solution moving forward. Here in Australia CF MOTO recalled the MT 450 due too the chain guard coming into contact with the front sprocket cover and were replacing the sprocket cover with a modified one. Maybe this has only been a issue here due too the terrain in Australia where the bike is being ridden. Adding a extra tooth on the front will allow a higher highway speed without reving the bike so hard but there will be a small decrease in off road torque. Its a compromise I guess. Keep up the good work 👏
Great review/ update! Apparently the affected part that has water ingress, its only function is to attach the bash plate to. So it's not a major load bearing part, so it wouldn't worry me, I'm not cancelling my order !
Hi mate, love the channel, love the bike and it's awesome to have another Woman riding the Cfmoto 450 an what a great bike she is. New subscriber, can't wait for more adventures. Congratulations on ur new baby.🇦🇺👍💜
Great update Charlie. Bella really suits you. Your modifications look good quality and are very practical. Slow boat from China is a pain but the gear is so much cheaper. It will be interesting to see if the quality is up to scratch.
Enjoyed the review Charlie a lot of good reviews on Chinese bikes on utube at the moment it will be interesting to see what happens long term looking forward to your next one
I think the frame fix is a bit of botch as rust will have started to form. The entrance where water gets in needs to be sealed along with rust inhibitor put inside the frame.
Now in my opinion the hole idea is just covering the symptoms not curing the disease, which to me would be capping the top of the sub frame to stop water getting in in the first place 🤷🏻♂️
3:42 it does affect the performance a bit, as if you increase top speed as in reducing the revs by a few hundred rpm, it will slightly reduce the acceleration, but if you are after more relaxed cruising it's a good idea
It far more likely that the top speed would be reduced because the engine does not have the power and torque to cope with the higher gearing at high speed.
@@davidmatthews3093 In general, a smaller front sprocket, and/or a bigger rear sprocket will translate into a higher final drive ratio, and lead to better acceleration at the cost of top speed. On the other hand, a bigger front sprocket and / or a smaller rear sprocket would denote a lower final drive ratio and would lead to better top speed, at the cost of quick initial acceleration. In essence, sprocketing is a tool to manipulate how the engine rpm translates to road speed, by increasing or decreasing the torque served at the rear wheel at any given rpm. I hope the bits from Uncle W arrive in time for your trip Charlie. The 450MT looks a nice bike but errr maybe a bit thirsty for a small un. My Vstrom1000 will regularly return 58/ 60 mpg and Chug the Himi is close to 95 mpg with careful riding.
Well you just beat me to mine but only because I'd been in an accident and couldn't ride for a while. I just left mine in the showroom till I could ride again. Very annoying. Anyway. Glad you are enjoying your bike, I absolutely love mine. That engine is a real peach and handling for a bike with 21" 18" wheels is astounding IMHO. Real reason for my message though is to suggest changing the front sprocket to 15t. Especially as you are doing distance on the road. It makes for a much more relaxed ride. Sprockets are readily available on eBay for less than a tenner and all you need to do is slide the back wheel forward, no need to buy a new chain. (Ideally do it before you get too much wear on the old chain and sprockets).
It looks like Bella was the perfect choice for you Charlie, good luck getting all your bits and pieces👍Don't you just hate that most bikes come without a centre stand, as far as I'm concerned they are a necessity and always my first purchase when I got a new bike!

If i remember correctly, you were going to go back to the dealers and have them drill out that part of the frame that holds water. Is there any chance that you could show us which part it is , or even better , where they drill the hole? Thanks so much.
Surely drilling a hole into a frame is not a fix? I would want to know where the ingression of water was coming from and that part modifying and replacing. This is not treating the cause its just plastering over it. As the inside part wont be treated against water flow it will still rust. Using a medical term "Treat the cause not just the symptoms".
The chances are it is an unforeseen condensation issue within the tube work, which will be fixed at the factory from here-on-in by drilling a drain hole in the affected part.
I noted the issue from a TH-cam channel in Australia and one other, the issue appears to be a hole that is used to inject rust preventing chemical into the frame which is then not sealed, this will indeed allow water or condensation, sadly any open vent will continue the ingress . The solution is to block the hole. Drilling into untreated steal as the rusty water attest to will only exhasbate the problem plus weaken the frame. I’d request a full replacement of the affected part which I believe can be replaced, again sadly through lack of spare parts this isn’t offered. We need to stop making excuses for poor quality control wherever it is found. Only six 450mt came into the Uk in the first batch. Plus they are for pre order only there will be no test bikes or showroom bikes so be sure the ones people order are perfect.
Al people have been ding is drilling holes, then spraying wd40 or some water dispersion fluid, the water is coming from water crossings and riding in the rain, at least cfmoto have put their hands up and offered a free fix. Or others are simply silasticing the gaps. 😁
Hi, you said your waiting for panniers amongst other stuff. Probably moi, but, I find ‘uncle’ site ambiguous regarding whether the hard case mounts come with the boxes as included or are they a separate order? As said, I’m just a bloke.☺️
I’ve watched those vids re - water in the tubes. I’ve ordered MY bike . When I get it I’ll be taking the tubes off NAH (only if it’s really necesary) and spray ACF50 in ‘that hole’ and then SEAL it with some mastic .WHY drill holes unnecessarily???
When you drill or have the hole drilled, ensure that you haave galvafroid or similar painted over the bare metal, rust is the chinese bike enemy. Spray Lanoguard up into the frame too as itll be bare metal. You can/shoukd treat the whole bike to protect it. Changing the front sprocket WILL affect performance to some degree, in this case to get "longer legs" acceleration will be blunted to some degree while it will cruise more economically and quietly. Be careful how far you go as it can actually work against you sometimes though one tooth should be fine If you watch Noraly, the Dutch lady Adventurer, shes just unveiked her "new" bike, in the second episode there is an explanation of why you increase the rear rather than the front sprocket..... still cant remember her online name. Have fun Charlie
Hello fellow 450MT owner. :D Had mine since mid August. 1700 miles, including a week in the Peak Dsitrict, and loving it. Not bought specifically for off-road (my experience is an instructor guided day in the Peak District on a smaller, lighter well prepped Honda CRF250 on proper knobblies). This is my smallest capacity bike (others are 690, 900, 750) and IMHO perfectly capable of travelling on with some bags slung across the back, and enough capability to take you off-road (depending on ability and confidence). I hear that 15 tooth front sprocket mod knocks about 400 rpm off making it a little less buzzy for higher speeds. Personally, I think I will leave it as it is. At 70mph it's way smoother then my 690 single, and generally the gearing seems to suit me TBH. Engine is characterful enough that encourages a bit of fun on the throttle, and quite nimble on the road even with the 21" wheel size. Bigger physical size and 195 (ish) wet weight is IMHO an advantage when on the road. Weight feels quite low and on the whole well balanced so you don't feel the weight. You might get fed up if you drop it more than a few times in a day though. :D 173cm height here and the 820mm seat height is about spot on for me to flat foot. Taller/long-legged people - get the rally seat. I could be tempted for more leg room and long distance comfort. I AM one of those people with a bonier bum, and I got twitchy and needed a break after 2.5 hours riding. :) About 68mpg, which is neither brilliant or awful, but the 17.5l tank gives me plenty of range. When you're used to only 110-150 miles from a full tank, 250+ miles range is a new experience. :) CFMoto crash bars fitted by the dealer, a 10 litre Kriega daypack for the rear, and a bit of self-applied paint protection film where my legs rub the bodywork are the only additions. Deposit down in March and this was an impulse purchase that I don't regret. And... I'm always getting approached and interrogated about this bike by genuinely interested people where ever I go. :D
You can be really annoying! I have been riding 14 years now and admittedly I work overseas but you have had more bikes than I have and you have pretty much completed my bucket list! lol. I am home soon and going to try and get some serious miles with my new bike! I will probably be doing a round robin yorkshire when you head North. I am just jealous, safe riding and keep the videos coming.
Hello, greetings from Holland. I was wondering if you already received the order from" uncle wang"? I also placed an order there for over € 600. I placed it on the 8 of september. I hear the same crap like you, it was wrong sent to Russia, Portugal etcetera. So I wonder when you placed your order and if you have received? Looking forward for your answer. Arco and Ada Troost from the netherlands.
Would be interested to know how much import tax you get stung for the larger more expensive items you have ordered from china I got bags for my wife's bike and they cost £70 delivery and £108 in import tax
The Front sprocket would make the gearing have less legs since it has to turn more to complete one revolution of the rear sprocket. Assuming the gearbox sprocket is smaller that the rear sprocket. Often done for offroad use and/or better acceleration.
Tbh I think voge is out doing cfmoto at the moment, their 525ds is probably even a better spec for the money than cfmoto, but both are causing waves in the industry 😊
@@pauldoyle9709 Mmm well maybe but it all depends on how well both dealer and manufacturers respond to any claim, now I'm not saying that cfmoto or voge will be bad here, just that merely having a piece of paper which says 'warranty' doesn't necessarily mean that all your problems are over 😉
Be careful if you consider changing the front sprocket because it does change the performance of the bike. It seems to be the current fashion and fashion isn’t an engineering concept. I’ve experienced it twice in my motorcycling career and both times it made the bike less good to ride. The two bikes couldn’t have been much more different, the first was a Triumph sportsbike producing almost 110 BHP and the second a Suzuki DR125 with about one tenth of the power. In both cases the performance was noticeably changed for the worse. The Triumph lost it ability to accelerate like it had before and the Suzuki always needed to be in a gear lower than before. This actually meant that it no longer had the super low first gear that proved so useful so often off-road and sixth gear was only ever used going downhill or with the wind. I remember you enjoyed riding the 500X and that enjoyment came from the gearing being matched to the engine’s power and torque. Several high profile journalists have been surprised by the Honda’s performance and claimed that its performs so much better than the figures suggested, that’s down to the gearing. Giving your bike which has similar power and torque issues to the 500X might make it slightly more comfortable cruising at above 60 mph on fast roads but it will make the bike less responsive and more difficult to ride on tracks and trails. And that’s with an unladen bike. Once you’ve packed your bags and tied on your tent the problem will be multiplied. For the use that you give your bikes it would be a mistake. Manufacturers don’t make basic mistakes they have put a lot of thought into gearing their products.
@@restdayrider TRUE. Been following a few owners, mainly form Oz. Been very impressed. Sooooooo, I’m waiting on a reply from an email I’ve sent . Hoping the dealer has one in stock. Bloody hell, so the bike knows exactly where you've been and how you got there and can send it all back to China! No wonder the USA are looking to ban CFMoto bikes. I'm not sure what they'd do with my info though
I'm not a fan of changing sprockets from spec. Engineers design things a certain way for a reason. I can understand Itchy Boots reasoning on her refurbished redesigned bike. Also it upsets the speedometer calibration reading. For what I've seen in your videos and what you do, I think it would'nt be worth the hassle. I have a Triumph 400X people have done the same, it is just tinkering about with things.
Hope there not going to miss the boat on this one I haven't seen one bike on the road yet Limited supply but a list of people wanting one People will look elsewhere if they don't get a riggle on Have a friend who is still waiting for accessories 2 months after getting his bike Good luck and keep posting 😊
@@restdayridersmaller front sprocket will actually raise revs at any given speed. To lower revs you need to increase size of front sprocket or reduce rear sprocket size.
Go up a size if space will allow on front if not go down 3+ on rear will give you approx a 10 mph increase at speed at same revs or lower revs at same speed, bike does sound under geared at 60 mph ISH.

Be careful how far you go as it can actually work against you sometimes though one tooth should be fine
If you watch Noraly, the Dutch lady Adventurer, shes just unveiked her "new" bike, in the second episode there is an explanation of why you increase the rear rather than the front sprocket..... still cant remember her online name.
Have fun Charlie

...have you?
... my 450MT just received a software update for 45€ to have more smooth throttle control in low gear, works perfekt now ...
That's excellent! Which country may I ask has had that update?
@@restdayrider Germany 🙂
I don't suppose the fuel filler could be re-fitted 180 degrees to enable re-fueling !
Now there's an idea.
What do you do against corrusion, winter is coming?
The air mesh seat is comfy
Does it add much depth , ie make it much taller?
Have you got your stuff from Uncle Wang yet, I ordered some stuff 7th Sept I think thats after you
Arrived safely now. 😊
Hello fellow 450MT owner. :D
Had mine since mid August.
173cm height here and the 820mm seat height is about spot on for me to flat foot. Taller/long-legged people - get the rally seat. I could be tempted for more leg room and long distance comfort. I AM one of those people with a bonier bum, and I got twitchy and needed a break after 2.5 hours riding. :)
About 68mpg, which is neither brilliant or awful, but the 17.5l tank gives me plenty of range. When you're used to only 110-150 miles from a full tank, 250+ miles range is a new experience. :)
CFMoto crash bars fitted by the dealer, a 10 litre Kriega daypack for the rear, and a bit of self-applied paint protection film where my legs rub the bodywork are the only additions.
Deposit down in March and this was an impulse purchase that I don't regret.
And... I'm always getting approached and interrogated about this bike by genuinely interested people where ever I go. :D
Hi! Glad you're having so much fun on your MT. 😊
Keep up the good work madam.👍🏻🇬🇧
Thank you 😊
Your tank covers look smart Charlie. I look forward to seeing Uncle Wang's bits being fitted.
I can't wait!
February or March?! This wait is going to kill me. Thanks for the great review!
It'll be worth it. 😊
Hahahaha sorry about that! 🤣
Changing a sprocket doesn't void the warranty.
Can I ask if you’ve had the suspension set in the lower seat height setting?
Yes, this was done on pick up day. 😊
@@restdayrider I wonder why they haven’t slid the forks through to compensate- I’ve just set mine to the low setting but also done the forks by 10mm

Sadly not, it is due in 5 days, I had to re schedule as it was coming when I was away.
@@restdayrider ok i will follow what will happen next. Thank you for your reply. We also like the MT very much

Great Vlog Charlie, very informative. But I can’t stand watching that 360 footage and way to much music for me I’m afraid 😉

I just moved the setting on the rear shock to the lower setting, drops it 20mm.

Would be interested to know how much import tax you get stung for the larger more expensive items you have ordered from china I got bags for my wife's bike and they cost £70 delivery and £108 in import tax
I'll let you know!
Cracking bike then. Surprised you’ve only done 650 miles on it.
Alas time and work have gotten in the way somewhat! 😏
Gotta love the irony of Uncle Wangs Chinese copies undercutting the official Chinese parts.😂😂
Probably same manufacturer, just no chain of middle men bumping up the price with Mark up
@@johnroff8263 Yep, those crazy communists and their hatred of capitalism. 😂
The voge looks nice, but it's a smidge more expensive, 15kg dry weight heavier and 10mm taller for me. 😊
Chinese bikes are coming along leaps and bounds. They must be very confident in their quality if they are giving a four year warranty.
@@pauldoyle9709 Mmm well maybe but it all depends on how well both dealer and manufacturers respond to any claim, now I'm not saying that cfmoto or voge will be bad here, just that merely having a piece of paper which says 'warranty' doesn't necessarily mean that all your problems are over 😉
They are quite different bikes.
@@kevindarkstar Yes, Exactly! It doesn't matter if there's a 20 year warranty if parts aren't available.......
drill holes in the frame of a new bike... "to drain it" 🤣
It's only a frame bracket that holds on the bash plate. 😊
Good point.

The APP……… info ……AND….. when to speed police will visit?
It's only the same as using a phone or other sat nav for maps, or even just riding with your phone on your bike! 😊
@@restdayrider TRUE. Been following a few owners, mainly form Oz. Been very impressed. Sooooooo, I’m waiting on a reply from an email I’ve sent . Hoping the dealer has one in stock. My pref is the grey with yellow flash. This (if it goes ahead) will be my last bike. The two I have just now will be parted with early next year. Thanks for the reply and the vids 👍🏻
Bloody hell, so the bike knows exactly where you've been and how you got there and can send it all back to China! No wonder the USA are looking to ban CFMoto bikes. I'm not sure what they'd do with my info though
It's no different to riding with anything electrical, your phone for example will also be tracking you and your speed. 😊
Delete speed on that will be a wise move
It's no different to riding using any sat nav or even with your phone in your pocket! 😊
And tells "them" where and how you ride.
As long as I'm not riding like an idiot, doesn't matter! 🤣
I'm not a fan of changing sprockets from spec. Engineers design things a certain way for a reason. I can understand Itchy Boots reasoning on her refurbished redesigned bike. Also it upsets the
speedometer calibration reading. For what I've seen in your videos and what you do, I think it would'nt be worth the hassle. I have a Triumph 400X people have done the same, it is just tinkering about with things.
I'll have to try riding one that's been changed and see the difference.
@@restdayrider A good plan I think. Then at least you can put the idea to bed or take it up for sure.
Changing the front sprocket puts more load on the clutch. It's a 100kmh bike, why try to make it a 150kmh bike. Buy something else.
It's not a 100kmh bike, thats 60 mph, 🤣 And I haven't changed the front sprocket. 😏
@@restdayrider 100 kmh was fine on mine with no sprocket change. If I want to go faster I'll use my 890.
Smaller front sprocket will bring the revs down at higher speeds and improve fuel economy
Thank you!
Hope there not going to miss the boat on this one
I haven't seen one bike on the road yet
Limited supply but a list of people wanting one
People will look elsewhere if they don't get a riggle on
Have a friend who is still waiting for accessories 2 months after getting his bike
Good luck and keep posting 😊
@@restdayridersmaller front sprocket will actually raise revs at any given speed. To lower revs you need to increase size of front sprocket or reduce rear sprocket size.
@timothyhull1743 glad someone said it. Also a smaller front sprocket causes more wear and the chain slider rubber.
Go up a size if space will allow on front if not go down 3+ on rear will give you approx a 10 mph increase at speed at same revs or lower revs at same speed, bike does sound under geared at 60 mph ISH.
Made in China 😢
