Used Uncle Wang for my Benelli TRK 702, and I agree. It’s great kit well made and it’s a lot cheaper than other places. I was happy to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery too.
Good effort. When fitted mainstands in the past I've sometimes fitted the springs to the stand first, then pulled on the stand. It's much easier to get hold of and someone can pull on each side. But, well done. Ride safe 👍
Well done the 2 legged ones plus the added calming effect of the beautiful 4 legged ones. Rich and Ewa from On The Road really rated these boxes on the Voge bikes they rode in the torrential rain . Very impressed with the look of them. May they serve you for many fun adventures in the future. Stay safe and happy folks.
I bought a mounting plate and adv top box off Ali Express, only £100, lined with a pocket in the lid, and it has been perfect. The box is easy on/off and rock solid.
Another really nice video. The whole team did great on fitting Bella for her big adventures. As this summer (after a camping trip with my husband and his aluminium boxes), I decided to go aluminium panniers for my Tracer 700 (was so fed up with having to hold everything in my plastic ones to not have all of the camping gear fall out). Got a really good deal on SW Motech lightly used side panniers. The Chinese counterpart would have been about the same. But for a top box (really always had trouble fitting anything proper in my plastic one), I could not find a used one SW Motech for a decent price. So I decided, after a lot of research to cave in and got one a Chinese model off amazon. I was so very pleased with it! Great quality. My liner has white stitching lines, on the pics it looked a bit...gaudy, to be honest. But in real life, I really like it, protects anything nicely. The only thing I will change that I will add closing flaps to my lid pockets. Really love your pannier liners. Might have a look whether these are available separately. Or make them myself? Should be doable.
Thanks for the video appreciated. I am hopefully going to have a sit on the MT450 at the NEC bike show in a couple of weeks. I don't have a local dealer so it'll be my first look. All the accessories you fitted are what I would be after. You have an awesome friend there to help with the install top man. Take care..
Nice registration plate Charlie. Nice luggage, protection bars and a centre stand. Don't forget to jack up the preload when you have filled those boxes.
Looks great Charlie, ready for the next adventure. You are so lucky with Jay as your friend. Taking calmly his time and finding out what to fit where without throwing tools around your garage :) Fitting springs on a center stand are always a pain in the....behind. The panniers look good. Nice pockets in the lids for small items. Looking forward to your next trip. Take care, drive safely!!
Hi Charlie, Well, that is amazing, Great, looking set up, plus the pockets on the inside of the panniers Are great. Jay has a lot of patience for fitting things like that though you have an awesome looking and functioning adventure bike looking forward to your next video. Thank you.
Yep the spring installation for the main stand is a lot of work 😅. Mine have been sitting for almost a month before I got all the right tools I needed to install it and yes ratchet strap also did the trick for me. Grats
Hi Charlie and Jay Looks good quality (nothing wrong with things made in China), fits well and you both got a mental workout thrown in for free. Outstanding 👍👍
The support brackets that connect to the bobbins on your paddock stand are on the wrong side and need to be swapped. It will make life easier and safer.
No. It looked like the springs were fitted through a T shaped plate with two short slots on either side with a longer slot down the middle on the frame end. This plate looked like it had been fitted the wrong way around. Which meant that the springs would have to be stretched further than intended. I hope this helps.
No they are definitely the right way around. The narrow end of the teardrop shaped hole has to go on to the peg. The other way around is way too slack. Thanks for your input though.
That stuff looks great. I'm feeling distinctly envious of your bike tbh. If I could still throw my leg over a seat, I'd be giving very serious thought about getting one. As it is, I'm now thinking of panniers for my Burgman 650. And nice job fitting those bits by Jay & your good self. Those pockets in the cases are a great idea, too. Now to give them a try with kit in!
Fab video. New parts are always very exciting - even the dogs looked pleased! Might nip out on Maggie (Himmy 450) tomorrow for a bit. Will be lowering her soon and putting heated grips on. I need to book a proper adventure too. Take care and ride safe 😎
Wow it looks fantastic with all the add ons I have taken a risk with a soft pannier rack from uncle wangs to try fit my old himmy panniers on to the mt fingers crossed carry on
Christmas came early for you Charlie😁Centre stand springs are notoriously difficult to fit, I did a few in my day and lost a lot of skin and maybe said some swear words😉Bella is looking magnificent all dressed up now👌Lack of instructions is a pain but you got there, great work by Master Jay👍
He's certainly got buckets of engineering and bike knowledge, enjoys a puzzle and is pretty patient 😊 ( I did have to check that your comment wasn't from him tho!)
Slightly "off piste" with this comment but I have put this sort of box arrangement onto another marque of adv bike. The resulting practicality is superb. I am sure you will appreciate the benefits of the boxes over soft luggage immediately. The wait was long but I think well worth it!
soft bags for any riding. Hard are okay but are extra weight and not nice if or when you fall. Im waiting for the 2nd hand market on these bikes. t7 are just expensive and i love the sound of a twin 270° crank.
I do believe that on an Adv bike where your legs are further forward that the hard panniers actually protect in the event of a fall. I do agree about the weight tho.
With the dogs scrutinizing the humans handy work, like they say on the A-Team...it all came together!!😂😂 The bike looks awesome... regards from Wroughton 👍👍👍
Nice too get some gear on the bike even if it took a fair bit of fettling. I'm not a huge fan of top boxes or hard luggage for that matter but it looks the part an hopefully your happy with it. Cheers for sharing Charlie
Looks good. I have same scenario with overseas parts, but love the price and I adapt Harley touring parts to my VL 1500. I have to say that I use the same torque settings as your installer! We are not building space ships. Great video!
Bella is looking like a GS for a fraction of the cost. It's going to be a great touring bike. In fact, dare I say, it's better than Roger ever could be? 😢 Just need to pack Bella with your camping equipment and find a camp site to test out the new expansion. On a slightly different topic, I was watching Sean and Suze on the Mindful Motorcyclist channel and I was shocked to hear that the Royal Enfield Meteor 650 was 240kg in weight! Then I watched Chopsy testing the all new 2024 1300GS Adventure and that's 269KG and that's a tank of a bike. I had no idea how heavy Royal Enfield's were. Looking forward to seeing Bella's big adventure ride. It was worth waiting 6 months after all!
Great video, I would practice loading it up with your stuff but weigh each item and balance the weight evenly, it does make a difference when cornering, also practice picking it up loaded, , great looking bike now.
The doggies look cute. Where are they going to sit? Uncle Wang's accessories look rather impressive. My only concern is that the bike is now the width of a pantechnican (furniture removals lorry).
I really like the bike and accessories. I’m downsizing from my beloved BMW 1200GS as I’m 75 now and could use a lighter/lower bike. CFMoto, NX500, Himalayan 450? The search continues.
Wow Christmas & Birthday came all at once 😂 looks amazing quality 👍 Great video, charlie you need a 3rd hand 🤷♂️ it would come in Handy😂…..you two are a really class act really enjoy your videos Great entertainment value 10/10 and hey your now going to have to go on an adventure to try it all out 😊. M 🏍💨
Having a main stand on an adventure bike is essential. why do the manufactures skip them is not good as cost at time of manufacturing is a fraction of retail price as aftermarket accessory .
It looks like you've put the spring plate for the centrecstand spring on the wrong way around which would explain why the springs were so hard to get on. Good vid. The boxes look nice, just out of interest how big are they.
The bikes looking great, I've heard mixed reviews about Uncle Wangs. Quite a few complaints about missing parts and late deliveries, how did it go for you? we're you pleased with their service? Edit, forget the questions, I've just got to the end of the video where you say it all went well. Oops!😁 That'll teach me to watch it all the way through before commenting!
There are two faces for this whole video: 1. Accessory manufacturers being the happiest for the free advertising 2. The CF moto designers melting their faces seeing how all of their offroad engineering and esthetic design goes to the trash by covering the bike with stuff that is just going to ruin the weight balance and dynamics of the bike. By the way a proper adventure bike needs to remain agile and practical, what this is now, is cruiser bike that is capable of doing fire roads. Beautiful bike tho, it's great that it can serve your intended use!
I'm sure the designers factored in carrying a pillion into the logistics, and I know they accounted for the aesthetics and safety bars I added , as they included mounting points in their manufacturing. 😊
