Honest review as always. I preferred the Himalayan to the 450mt because I don't really like to mess with the bike. The r.e. has a more commuting-friendly stock gears and superior suspensions.

Great review, forced me to make the enquiry to my local dealer. I watched your India trip because the KTM and Triumph were my original choices, but the twin engine of the 450MT adds sound to the looks and agility. Thanks to Amy for the pillion perspective too, although I'm not sure my wife would let me take her down any green lanes

Thanks 👍 it’s probably not the best pillion on the muddy lanes but it’s still capable. It’s a tough decision with so much choice now, the new KTM 450 adventure R looks interesting to 👍

@@thatbikersimon It does indeed but will probably have the KTM price tag to match. The BMW Concept 450GS would be my ultimate pick, but I suspect that will be a while before we see it and will also have a hefty price tag

Great review. I ended up buying a 450 Himmi. The CF (and KTM, Triumph) are also great bikes, but I chose the Himmi because of the way it made me feel ......very subjective I know, but at the end of the day It left me with the biggest grin on my face when I got off the bike.
It's nicely run in now, the engine is buttery smooth, there are no nasty vibes and I absolutely love it.
    Regards,
    Chris.

Hi Simon, excellent review. I had the same issue as you did re the snatchy throttle when I test rode a demo 450 2 days back. Found low speed control frustrating around tight twistys, town riding, small traffic islands and similar. Otherwise, an impressive bike for the money.

However, there is a an aftermarket lowering link that brings it down another 15mm and together with a lower seat I can get the seat down to 765mm - manageable but I still can't flat foot it. Still undecided - do I buy it or just put a set of Heidenau scouts on my street twin? BTW, they have sold over 1000 MTs in Australia since April which is amazing given our small population.

I think they are probably comparable to the Himalayan, I was chatting with an MT owner today and he is well happy with it.
I however brought the Himalayan and I am happy with that too, only gripe is that one drop at the ABR festival and the crash protection dented the tank.
I chose the Himalayan over the MT because I wanted more of the dual sport feel than the adventure bike.
I had an adventure bike before for a few years and chopped it in on a speedmaster, so the dual sport gives me something that I want to green lane and maybe TET on just to satisfy my urges and limited skill level. If I was intending on going on international adventures I may have gone for the MT
