Thanks - I could not do a mkdir as the harddisk did not mount, but mounting the usb in /tmp worked and then I could copy data from the bad harddisk to usb!

Superb video. Everything very well explained. I have an issue with a macbook pro 17 inch running latest possible apple OS with an upgraded ssd. Lap top wont boot apple logo displays with progress bar and then it gets stuck at grey screen, i tried everything from booting into safe mode but it goes into a blank blue screen. Everything I found on google wont work. I tried the command line you posted and “the disk appears to be ok” iam at a loss. It did boot up all the way and when i tried opening whatsapp desktop the computer froze and it shut down. Any help would be appreciated

Hey, I was wondering if you could help me? I'm having a real problem reinstalling os on my Mac from Internet recovery it give me some sort of error that I think means the time and date has been screwed (also on Internet recovery terminal and other windows are not shown) I've succeeded once at runing terminal at boot up but it's seem difficult running it again and also when I did fix the problem their was still some issue with the reinstall of the OS. This is very important to me because I'm a producer and engineer and all my data/files/folders are on this hard drive and it seem the only possible way at the moment it to fix the operating system, but if I could somehow just get the data off the drive the would be cool too?????????? Plz help and if you can thank you so much!!!

THERE IS A FAR EASIER WAY TO COPY FILES FROM YOUR MAC EVEN WHEN ITS NOT BOOTING WITHOUT THIS ROCKET SCIENCE APPROACH.
GET "DISKWARRIOR" USB OR DVD AND COPY JUST ABOUT ANYTHING FROM YOUR MAC TO ANY EXTERNAL DRIVE. WHAT WE NEEDED MORE FROM THIS TYPE OF SINGLE MODE IS
REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS WITHOUT GETTING ERRORS AND OR DELETE FILES TO MAKE SPACE ON YOUR MAC. BUT NO ONE IS TALKING OR WRITING ABOUT IT. THIS WAS CLOSE BUT ANYWAYS THANKS STILL SEARCHING....
