    The Single User Mode is the only way to boot a Mac when it can not boot in normal Mode or when the System is almost dead or having severe boot related problem.
    Boot your Mac in Single user mode.
    Type command ls /dev/disk* to note down all the disk drives name.
    Connect the USB disk and type the same command again and note down the USB drive name.
    Type command fstyp /dev/disk4s1

    hey how can I boot to a thumb drive from the single user mode. My usb isn't being detected by the boot options and I have no way to boot into it
