  • It's EZ to wire a VW Offroad recreation car if you know a few basic principles. In this video we will cover some of the basic's I have used with good results over many years of testing.

    Good simple system there.
Just wired a friend’s sand rail last weekend and he bought a 4 fuse circuit harness from rebel wire. Very easy to incorporate and the wires were all labeled. Of duress we didn’t use all of them but he has room for expansion if needed down the road.
I wired the Sickxty from scratch and I honestly prefer that method better over some of these other cheap kits out there.
So happy that you’re still doing well. Can’t believe the surgery was already a year ago. Keep up the great work and we hope to see ya again soon.

On my buggy I ran the wire in hose just for extra protection. You did great job on the info on the wiring. Glad you're feeling well and great to see you enjoy what you do for people.

I pick up on your faithfulness concerning your health. I even bought Sarah’s book that you read. I put all this together with the other books that you have recommended like, the Volkswagen for complete idiots. Along with the videos!
Please keep sharing your life with us. Even camping with the Baja was interesting! I heard a lady laugh on a short video while you were driving your new ride. She sounded young at heart herself. It is nice for all of us to see something positive in a mixed up world. The folks that are watching you I feel sure are fine people who enjoy the simple things in life and the outdoors, if not why bother with a VW based ride. Most of us are on a budget. So it is your experience that makes our project’s possible. Well…
    Keep Smiling…Rev.Jim

    G'day Mr EZGZ,
I totally agree with everything your saying. So many people over complicate things when wiring their projects. Make it simple, easily repairable if out on the road. Anyway thanks for sharing the knowledge man ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.

Thanks for sharing your wiring techniques. Looking for a simple way to wire lights and accessories to my sand rail. All the wiring is there but not labeled no fuse box (68bug/sandrail) and trying to figure it all out before I burn something up. Newly retired and getting to all the projects I've started. Wishing you great health sir.

Congratulation's on your retirement, live long and prosper. I have made nice long cord electrical tester. I'll show it in a new video.

    Hello,
I have a VW sand buggy that I am rewiring. I got a new Bosch alternator 12v system. Is a led idiot light enough to excite the alternator or do I need an incandescent? Also just to confirm, one lead of the light goes to the key on positive and the other goes to the D+ on the alternator. If that is so, does that mean the D+ is providing a ground for the light? Thank you very much.

There should be a separate ground screw on the housing. I run a 14 gauge hot wire from my starting motor where the battery plus side is connected. It is hot all the time. The idiot light spade connector goes from the alt. to the idiot light to the ignition side of the key or on switch.. The internal regulator turns off the idiot light until there is a problem. Alternators do have brushes.

It would be great if you could help me set up a starting and charging schematic for my dune buggy because the way it is it's not charging even though I replaced my generator and voltage regulator

stranded wire is for vibration .solid wire is for stationary .

Do you make wiring harness schematics, i could use a guide to wire up my dune buggy with a generator and voltage regulator system. Like a 67 i would guess
Either way the wiring in mine is all messed up and my system isn't charging

Have you ever ran your sandrails at Little Sahara (sand mountain) in Utah?
    Or the Coral Pink dunes?
I've seen a couple of your videos at the dunes but was curious where?
I'd love to have a sand car, I'm too old to ride my dirtbike any longer.

Been to Sand Mountain several times when I lived in Grand jct. Co. Tried to get into the Pink Coral entrance but they wanted $$$ per foot and did not want to wait for the tunnel escort. I'm probably going to sell one of my cars when I get the new ride finished and tested if your interested.

@TheEZGZ I'm always interested in anything VW.
I'm currently working on a 68 Baja for my granddaughters first car.
I have a 63 Baja with a 2110 that I drive pretty much every day.
I watch a lot of TH-cam, it's great entertainment and your videos along with others have been very helpful.
Keep up the good work, maybe we'll meet at the dunes!
I'd be interested in a sand rail possibly.
