SubhanAllah, just finished my book on Islamic philosophy of education and then youtube recommended this! Gotta check this out. I guess the algorithim's not all bad after all!
I understand the basis of this discussion but could listen to this again and again, as it adds more and more flesh to the bones. It eases my heart. Thank you 🙏
We are perfect as far as we strive to blend all of Allah’s creations into our approach to everything in our lives. We are perfect since Allah says: {لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ}.
Alsalamu Alykum, MashaAllah, may Allah bless the Cambridge community. Much-needed guidance and insight into the philosophy of traditional Islamic education. Are there any sources we can go back to regarding this topic? Jazakum Allahu Kieran
As salaamu alaykum shaykh, could you tell me how can be "unschooling" translated in the Islamic lens? In which way does it conform to islam? What can I keep from it ? I am homeschooling my child and I must take in consideration the Italian national guidelines for the curriculum ( that's why the best solutions is to go in a country where academical education is not compulsory so one is free to grow their children at their pace and natural disposition) and I like this thing they call "deschooling" and "unschooling" which is a reaction to the current school system.

Educational philosophy need to be reconstructed within Quranic concept of knowledge and based on modern achievement of knowledge. Otherwise, the discussion will surely segmented and far away from resolving issues faced by the ummah. Only based on traditional understanding is not enough, considering great bulk of knowledge that has been created by humanity and that has become far beyond what can be fathomed by the ummah, including natural sciences and humanities.

Knowledge is that which comes from Allaah and his messenger. Knowledge is that which gets us closer to Allaah. Everything else is just information.
Masha'Allah

I'm like "I want to move to Cambridge just to go and sit, learn and be supported here", after listening to this.
Imam Ghazali's epistemology can't nurture modern knowledge and hence we need to reconstruct a modern one
