It’s such a blessing to have folks who have integrity and aren’t sponsored or encouraging others to buy stuff they really can’t afford. Thank you Emmy and Paul…
We really try to keep our channel frugal based.
I'm crying Emmy...those poor soldiers that died sometimes I wonder.my husband was a marine for 8 yearsand was willing to go to front lines.he says that people barbecue first and remember the vet secondI really appreciate your comment not to forget them
Absolutely, Dawn! We need to remember those who gave all!
Something I learned from a TH-cam video is to reuse ziplock baggies. Just wash them out with dish soap and hot water, let them air dry and reuse as needed.
This tip is a good reminder. You can also wash aluminum foil and certain wax paper. I reuse the bags from crackers, cereals etc. Cut the seam to make them lie flat. These are thick enough to be washed and reused.
I've been doing this for years, even when my friends said I was crazy! 😊🇨🇦
I do this too. Except if they have had meat in them, then I don't. Lorraine
I do that all of the time, but I don’t reuse if the bag was used for raw meat.
It just came natural to me to do that, I also use soil bags for trash bags. I pickle vegetables in my used pickle juice.
I'd like to add foraging! Even learning about a couple wild edibles can be so helpful, provided you're sure of identification. My favorites are wild blackberries for making wine and Lambs Quarters to add to soups and stir frys.
I have been hanging laundry outside to dry for many years. As I get older I find it harder to lift the heavy baskets of we clothes and bend over to get them out of the basket. A few years ago we purchased a metal laundry cart. I can easily pull a load of wet clothes out and don't have to bend over to hang them up. I figure this has saved me a lot of doctor and chiropractor bills!
Wonderful idea!
Used to hang my clothes out but I have shrunk and cant reach the lines and not able to lower them.
Here’s mine. I need distilled water for my CPAP machine. One gallon of distilled purchase at the grocery is $1.40 and I need 1 - 2 per week. I instead of purchasing ad infinitum from the grocery I bought a distilled water machine off of Amazon for $75 and now I make my own it paid for itself very quickly. 😊
I didn't know there was a distilled water machine. I pay taxes for the gallon of distilled water.
I just use filtered water from my tap.
Being widowed for over 20 years I have learned to do many things myself. I have saved hundreds replacing toilets and fixing frozen, burst water lines to my barns. I cut my own fire wood, garden, and raise chickens and goats. Flat tire on the mower, yep I fix it myself. I use many of the same things you do to save money. I love sewing and make a lot of my clothes and aprons. Right now I an searching for affordable insulated curtains to help with the winter cold and the extreme heat we get here in the Texas summers.
Wow! Great skills u have!💗
You’re a rockstar! 🌟
Fabric and insulating lining.
Wonderful! So thrifty!!
I got a pair of very long black out curtains from Amazon a few years ago. They were moderately priced, and easy to find my special size and color. They keep so much searing afternoon heat out of my SC dining room in summer, too.
A big way we save money is to not buy brand new vehicles. Instead we buy nice reliable used and keep up on their regular maintenance. Occasionally we’ve had to pay big repairs bills but the money we save by not paying $600-$700 mthly car payments saves us thousands.
Yes, that’s a great point!
Since it’s May, I’ve been harvesting my strawberries and rhubarb. My neighbor has a huge rhubarb plant and allowed me to harvest it. In return, I baked him rhubarb bread, rhubarb cake, and sent him a jar of strawberry rhubarb jelly. It always pays to ask and give something back in return. In the fall another neighbor allows me to harvest apples which I turn into all types of items. I always return the kindness with a some baked goods.
To those who died in service to our country, this family salutes you. We have great respect for all who have served.
Love that ending! Thank you!
We're married 53 years and my husband has never gone to a barber in all that time. I watched a hairdresser cut a man's hair and copied 'how to do it'. Saved us bundles over the 53 years. For Memorial Day that we're celebrating today, Sunday, because Monday is supposed to be rainy. My grown children and grandchild are coming and I made potato salad, deviled eggs, baked beans, and will grill hotdogs and hamburgers. For desert I made a chocolate cake in a 9" x 12" pan with homemade peanut butter icing. Happy Memorial Day!
Sounds so wonderful!
I volunteer at the local cat's shelter and get climbed on by kittens!
My idea of Heaven!
😂 Sweet!
@@user-ew2rv2ku6t It doesn't save me money, but it's a pretty sweet deal given that I can't have a cat in my home!
Love that!
I have a minimal wardrobe of classics that never go out of style. It saves me money and time getting dressed.
Smart!
My mom bought me some flannel sheets years ago, and they are my absolute favorites! LOVE the idea of putting the sheets, etc. in a pillowcase. I'll be doing that for sure! I've already made a habit of folding the plastic bags into triangles in my kitchen drawer. We do the same thing with frozen pizzas. I get two when they're on buy one/get one free, and it works out perfectly for a quick last minute meal. Love the honesty that sometimes more cooking is just too much for "mama". I feel ya on that one! lol
LOL! I felt that way the other night! We had egg sandwiches...perfect LOL!
My Dad won a Bronze Star for saving a man’s life under fire in WWI.
Thank your Dad for his service.
Your father was and is and always will be a HERO. What a stunning gift to another person. And their family for generations to come. Blessings from New Zealand.
Oh how wonderful!
My recent way of saving has been making my own breads, bagels and english muffins. It tastes better and definitely healthier than store bought!
Yes, baking your own bread products is definitely a win-win.
Washing clothes - I add 1.5 cups vinegar to the wash cycle (I just pour it in with my detergent before I start the machine). My clothes now come out clean.
My newest frugal endeavor is regrowing veggie scraps. I took the root ends of a small bunch of green onions, stood them up in a jelly jar with water over the roots. Every other day I drained the water and added fresh tap water. (We have well water) These onions went crazy in my sunny kitchen window! They have grown out to nearly the full size of the original bunch in less than a week. After I use the onions, I’ll try to get another bunch from the same roots. My next experiment is to put the root end of a celery bunch into a pot of dirt to see what I can get. Frugal is fun!!
You can put green onions in a pot of dirt and they will grow. Don't have to change water.
That’s great!
How wonderful!
Iif you put them in a pot of soil you can grow them on and on and in the following year they will flower beautifully and you can the save the seeda
You can get some cabbage leaves by growing the core on top of the dirt. I cut the core into 2 or 4 pieces and it grows seperate flowerets of cabbage leaves nice and fresh in the garden. Its not a whole cabbage - but its fresh cabbage leaves. Also bok choy bases grow fully and beautifully just either sit on the dirt in a pot or just press it into the soil just a bit. 😊
I collect the water from warming up showers, dishes etc. I use it to water plants, fill humidifier etc. my husband wasn't too convinced that this was frugal, but our last water bill was $25 LESS. WINNING
SCORE!
@cherylawitherell1800, Yep the water or electric bill being lowered because of using some frugal moves has convinced my husband, too. In fact, he comes up with more frugal ways to save money. Good to work as a team!
It is also usable to flush the toilet with "grey water". Every gallon reused in tank saves gallons pumped into home.
I like to propogate new plants from plant cuttings! It has given me more beautiful greenery in our home, I've given them as gifts, and I even sold some in my garage sale! :)
Wonderful!
❤k you for reminding me to propagate my spider plants. I enjoy them and got pots from purchasing plants, saved to go this!!
No way reusable zip lock. Don't want soap washed residue on or near my food, makeup anything really.
After I color my hair, I rinse and save the bottle. The next time I color, I use only half of the product. As long as it's not mixed, I can use it a second time. I use the last bottle to mix up half.
I bought cloth panty liners they last for years and are way softer on my skin. I also bought a second hand yogurt maker for only 1 dollar and use it every week. i put together small sewing kits for all my daughters and daughter in laws and showed them how to do some basic mending.
That is so wonderful you are showing others how to sew
Sunshade in the car! I don’t have to crank up the a/c as much when i use one. Also, i always always bring a reusable cup filled with ice water all year when i leave the house so i never have to stop for an overpriced drink. Have a great weekend guys ❤
Yes! I always take a reusable cup with water wherever I go, I even take it on the airplane when I fly across the country so that I can just fill it up with water at the airport or when they come around with drinks on the plane.
Great tip! We always use ours too!
Most McDonald's will give you a large ice water (I ask for extra ice) for 32 cents including tax. When I am finished with the water I use the cup as a handy trash can still in the cup holder.
My Dad is an American Hero! But 1st , he’s his little girls( now 75) Hero❤❤❤🇺🇸
LOVE that!
I love this channel! I found you over the weekend and have been binging your content. So many great tips and so down to earth. I feel like I'm visiting an aunt and uncle and getting all your wisdom 😊 can't wait to watch future videos.
Yay! Thank you! We love to hear that! Welcome, Tracey!
Thank you for pointing out Memorial day is for our fallen soldiers- not veterans, and not current servicemen. My husband is a veteran and he points out this mistake at Memorial day and Veterans day every year. I absolutely loved this video. Once again I was excited :) How about a part 3 video :)
Yes, so important to remember those who gave all...
We spent Memorial Weekend 1994 in Indianapolis. We are English, but my husband worked for Penske Racing at the time at we had a subsidised trip that weekend. I urge all your subscribers to take advantage of situations like this. It is one of my treasured memories as my husband became disabled less than 10 years later and life didn’t turn out as we planned. I don’t encourage irresponsible spending, but saving and spending to make those memories. It’s hard to think that this was 30 years ago as the memories are so vital. Even having two people being travel sick either side of me on a transatlantic flight! Being frugal allows us to afford these opportunities and they mean so much in the later stages of life. Sorry to be so long winded, but I feel this was important to share as an important point of frugality 🙏🏻
Love that! We always stress that here on our channel! Spend on what's important to you! That is why we are frugal; to allow our money to be used for what is important to us.
As someone who became disabled at 52, I am grateful that I made saving and paying off my house a priority but also balanced that with travel, so I have the memories.
We save money by combining as many errands/shopping trips into one day as possible. We live a bit out of town, so we try to plan/coordinate our day to run all our errands at once - groceries, gas, bank, hardware, garden center, even dr and dentist appts. We try to limit one destination trips as much as possible. Saves us both time and gas!
That's so smart and economical!
My friend was getting a new artificial tree. Nothing wrong with old one. I asked if i could have it. I used that for years & years. Also used my Moms artificial aluminum tree with the colir wheel. The kids yhat came to visit my kids were fascinated. They said it looked like something from outer space.
Oh I bet that aluminum tree was amazing!
Loved these ideas! I save money by being basic 😂
For make up I use tinted moisturizer, lipstick and sometimes mascara. I use bar soap instead of body wash and hand soap. I stopped coloring my hair when I turned 50. No telling how much that has added up to over the last 15 years! Thank you for your wonderful and informative videos as always!❤😊
Thank you D for sharing!
We always have a frozen pizza ready to go too! Our Little Caesar's has $6 cheese pizzas and I just experimented with freezing them this week. Perfection! We pop 1 out and use up items in the fridge as toppings. It's much better quality than any of the frozen pizzas offered in our local stores. I wish I experimented with freezing them sooner but had to share so you could try if you have a Little Caesar's.
Happy Memorial Day to you all and thank you for everything you do! ❤
Great idea! Thank you!
This is a great idea! Aldi also sells a frozen pizza dough for less than $2.
Valerie in SC
Great idea! How do you wrap them up before freezing?
@@Sunshine_State I froze the first test as is in the pizza box and reheated within a few days. Worked beautifully. For longer term, I am testing saran wrap with a circle of cardboard (for support) at the bottom. Fingers crossed. Hope you enjoy. Have fun! 😊
😢 our Cesars pizza is charging 9.00, they used to be 5. So i make mine mostly. I use large burrito tortillas, frying pan with butter and oil on both sides to stiffen. Then spread pizza sauce, home shreaded cheese, then toppings. When the cheese is melted, its done. Way cheaper and less " bread". ❤
Just wanted to pop in here and say how much I thoroughly enjoy your channel. And I love your cheery Personality.A big hello from Northwest Georgia. I will be 80 years old this fall And I'm still learning new things everyday. I was raised very old fashion By My aunt and uncle Who were born In 1899 and my uncle was born in 1900. Wish I Head taken to heart The many things That they tried to instill in me when I was young .but then it's never to late. I actually find myself getting excited About New (old) ways To stretch a dollar. May God bless you as you bless others.
Oh how wonderful! So happy you found us, Anita! Thank you!
Definitely agree on the quality cookware. We used to get a new small set of pots n pans every few years because we didn’t have money for a more expensive set. After doing that a few times I decided to save up and research what would work best for us. About 10-12 years ago (?) I waited for a really good set to go on sale (usually closer to $750) for about $200. I was delighted to be able to buy it and they still get used daily. Hand washing and careful usage of a good set saves over the long run! I love my pot set 😊
That was us too!
I've purchased beautiful pots and pans at thrift stores. I made sure it's the same brand over the years so they fit inside each other and became a complete set.
I now have cast iron because I know how to use and take care of them. Thanks Internet. These will last for generations.
I was given a quality set of Revere Ware when I was married 45 years ago. Still use this same set today.
This one is not for everyone - but I enjoy making envelopes out of old calendar pages or plain paper (if its for my husband's business). I enjoy the satisfaction of making them myself and out of free stuff 😂
I have been cutting and using henna to color my own hair for years. I love to sew, crochet and knit - so I make alot of gifts for people with my hands. That is just off the top of my head!
Is henna permanent, or does it wash out after a certain number of shampoos?
Wonderful! I need to look into Henna!
@@FrugalMoneySaver The health food grocery stores like Sprouts, Whole Foods & Natural Grocers, have it......I've also seen it at the ethnic grocery stores.....I'm not sure though if henna is permanent or the wash out kind.....I would rather use a wash out type of hair color, so that if I make a mistake on the color, it will wash out eventually......
@@Nicole-zv7ee I usually have to henna my hair every 4-6 weeks
@@FrugalMoneySaver I buy it at my local Indian supermarket. It costs about $3.99 for the box. I have been using it since I was a student at university! So about 45 years! henna makes my hair very shiny - I often get compliments :)
My Instant Pot has saved me so much money by making bone broth easily. I use bones and veggie scraps( which I save in the freezer). Also, dried beans are so much cheaper, and the Instant Pot is a great way to cook dried beans!
Yes, I really need to use mine more!
We visit our state parks. Most of them give discounts to seniors and military. Here in Florida there’s even discounts if you’re a foster family. We are taking our sweet little vintage camper to a beautiful state park for the weekend. In Florida, seniors get a 50% discount on all campsites in Florida state parks
Sounds wonderful!
Plus I buy sheets too make dresses ,blouses and for quilt backings and lines in my home made purses.
What a clever idea!
I also make my own cleaning wipes with micro fiber cloths. I saved the canisters from wipes, connect and roll the cloths and put them in the container. I make a disinfecting solution with thieves cleaner and fill the container. They pop out just like the disposable ones. I wash them in HOT water and hang dry and use them again and again!
Very creative!
Bubblewrap, heavy curtains and foil faced polyisoboards (cut to fit very carefully) in and over windows in winter cut my heating costs in half. Windows in dark rooms like bedrooma get polyisoboarded. If i want light it gets the bubblewrap and good curtains at night.
Thanks for sharing your tips.
My husband is a Veteran, so thru the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans he will be performing multiple ceremonies. We will also be placing flags on the graves of those that made the Ultimate Sacrifice as well. Saturday is our family reunion on my Moms side. We may get a chance to grill a little if the projected rain doesn’t happen. Safe blessed holiday weekend to all.
Wonderful!
Two additional savings tips: (1) Cleaning products. Some manufacturers want you to buy a special product to clean their items but often a simple mixture of Dawn, vinegar and water or Castile soap and water does the trick. I know these items don’t work on everything and one should research it first. (2). Insect sprays or garden sprays. I use a spray bottle of water and peppermint oil or water and peppermint Castile soap to help keep ants, flies and other annoying pests away from the house or in my garden.
I know Dawn Power Wash is expensive. However, it sprays lightly and has saved me a bundle because it's so efficient.
When you're an older person it's hard to stand at the sink and scrub pots and pans. This product saves time, money and your back while it scrubs the pans for you.
Thanks so much for sharing!
@@margarettickle9659you can refill the container with a mixture of blue dawn and water. Works the same
Emmy, this spring I learned to can baked beans from TH-cam! I had dry bean that we did not use up over the winter so I canned them into baked beans to use over summer and this will be a dish we will have at our family gathering on Memorial Day along with hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken! Have a great holiday!
Wow, how clever of you. Think I am going to give that a try.
Connie, so thrifty!
I started to just wash my hair and not showering each day and just hand was pits and private area each day. I now shower about twice a week to save money on water. We also grow our own vegetables and we have 3 rain barrels. We use the water out of these first before using city water that is so expensive.
I painted our old pink counter tops. They aren't perfect, but much better for way less than a new counter top.
Very thrifty!
Try the peel and stick kitchen cabinet LINERS on a roll, when my husband AND I bought our first house, we couldn’t buy new counter tops, so my sister in law brought me to the hardware store and I picked out a liner that was perfect. , get your scissors or a knife cutter ready and remember to use your whole arm with your hands to smooth it down, so you don’t get bubbles on the counter. Mine lasted for years, USE A CUTTING BOARD OR YOULL CUT THE LINER , Try it. You’ll love it
The food saver has saved me so much money. I’m able to buy a bigger amount of meat when on sale , then divide into amounts we’d use at one time. We have a Roku & only have internet cable so we pay less than $90. Drying things on a rack during the summer instead of using the dryer. Prepping meals & meal planning weekly.
All wonderful ideas!
I started cutting my families hair during the pandemic and haven’t stopped since. I watched a bunch of TH-cam tutorials to learn how. Haircuts are so expensive now!
Yes, they are! So smart to do it at home!
I decided to get myself a work at home / remote job. That way I save tons of money on gas each week, not to mention clothes that I don't have to buy for a fancy office and food I don't have to buy for lunches. I estimate I save about $6,900 a year with this way of working.
That's so great!
Great video celebrating on saturday just a beach night with a couple of girl friends free band so that's great we bring everything chairs tables Battery candles food and just catch up and no big expense! My home shows the honor that I am American because of the men and woman who fort for this country and I display it proudly 🙏✌😊
YES!! Love that!
I used Clairol Natural Instincts before I retired. About 2 years ago, I had a professional hairdresser blend in my gray hair. At my last haircut appointment, the stylist stated all the blond is gone since I haven’t colored my hair. My hair is not totally grey but looks natural because it is. Deciding to go gray and having a professional blend in my hair was a good investment and has paid for itself since I no longer buy hair color.
Highly recommend get rid of aluminum percolator, replace with quality stainless steel. Coffee is acidic and will leach that aluminum into your beverage...implicated in Alzheimers!!
AAA saves us money every year! The cost for the year is more than covered in one occurrence of getting towed or needing service person to come help you and you get 3 and on any vehicle and 2 drivers are covered. Great value for people especially people who are driving for work or road trip.
We have that too! Great asset!
I love board games but I seldom have anybody around who wants to play them!😪 Still I keep a shelf full of them just in case....
Libraries have evenings dedicated to board games
Meet new friends and have a free night out.
Water canteens and coffee thermos - these two items alone have saved me thousands of dollars over decades. I have several and have had to update across time but have never regretted their purchases. Thanks for another encouraging video. Love from Queensland, Australia
Thank you for watching, Michelle!
Both videos have great things,
I have a few things to add, well maybe quite a lot, oops:
I do my own arbor work. I learned how to fell a tree as a kid and have trimmed the trees on my lot saving about $600-800 each time. I made camp fire wood from the branches and that saves money too. I taught both my boys to trim trees too so now the savings will go on long after I am able to do it. I also taught my boys how to clean the gutters and some simple gardening. If we get good Iwill get a food saver too, so thanks.
I mended my own gate with tools and spare screws and this year bought an electric dethatcher on sale. It was less than hiring a company, so next year that job will be free / less manual work.
I use simple supplies to repaint walls.
I have the same sewing machine from 1986 and can mend many things and do sew a bit, which saves money on hemming dress pants and other simple alterations. Converting pants to shorts was useful and cheap for growing boys. I’ve also made curtains and quilts in the past and made pillow cases for camping from old sheets.
I made my own all purpose cleaner and use forgotten shampoos to freshen up the bathrooms.
I cook for 3 meals at a time, saves time and electricity. I use spices to make simple lower cost meals taste very good, so we have those more often and the boys eating a lot doesn’t break my grocery budget.
I could also go on, but that’s a lot so stopping!😅
Wonderful and very thrifty! Thanks for taking the time to share!
I love watching your videos, Emmy and Paul. Thank you for another good one! I walked through the cemetery this week to see all the Memorial Day flags on the graves for our veterans. I'm having a quiet day at home on Monday, grilling hot dogs, and making some potato salad. Thanks for your thoughtful videos. Blessings!
Sabrina, thanks for sharing!
Paul's thrift-store lamp looks great on your kitchen counter. Kudos to you for mentioning what Memorial Day is all about. Great video!
Thanks so much!
I crochet my own dishcloths and dish towels. I use the yarn from s
Sweaters from a thrift stores.
Great idea!!
I use a Cricut vinyl cutting machine. I make gifts for teachers and personalize my grandkids' backpacks and water bottles. I have done signs for family and friends' weddings and other parties. It's a fun hobby and has saved me a lot of $$.
Oh, how wonderful!
Hi Emmy and Paul, fun video. I purchased an electric tooth brush years ago and my dentist told me it has made such a difference in our dental health. So we have saved a lot of money on that purchase .
That's so smart!
I have used henna in my hair for 30 years. I bought a travel soft hood dryer for about $30. The henna, one box for $6, does my shoulder length hair at least 4 times. I am really gray now and the henna still works, the gray just turns out a little lighter and looks like highlights. I also cut my I own hair!!!
I will look into that!
Totally agree on the quality of the cookware Emmy, I'll be so bold to say we should only buy things we intend to keep forever.
Memorial Day, I'm British, We have Remembrance Sunday in November. We usually go to cenotaph for the service, or watch it on TV then have a roast dinner and some home made cake.
My family really enjoys Rummikub!
Us too!
Hi from the UK!
I live in an area that has a high calcium water supply. I do not buy deionised water for my iron, I use condensate water from my dehumidifier.
clothing goes from best wear to stay at home wear to painting / work wear.
Lastly I cut off buttons & zippers &, cut old clothes into cleaning cloths!
So smart!
Yes my wool balls save me money on dryer sheets & my clothes hanger line helps me save by not turning on my dryer & it helps my clothes not to stretch. My garden helps me not buy tomatoes 🍅, peaches, grapes, & other vegetables 🥕.
So true!
I can say that I agree with purchasing a good set of pans is a must. I have a set of stainless steel pans that was my grandmas that was purchased when i was a preteen...so about 40 years ago. I remember my grandparents buying them. I even have the original papers that came with the pans that included a guarantee with them. My grandparents are not longer with us, but those pans are still being used by me to this day and they are perfect. I will pass them on to my son when the time comes if he wants them.
Love that so much!
Thank you!!
I quilt ! Find a quilter in your area there are always willing to help if needed! Like a warm blanket!! Also to teach someone how to sew!!! Love your show
I wish I knew how to quilt...they are so amazing!
That blue looks great on you
Thanks so much, Reba!
Most of the things that your suggestions are replacing, are things i wouldnt think of doing anyway. Manicures, salon hair colours, take away coffee, drive through, bagged soil, dog grooming,...
That's great then.
I have little ones, and sometimes we are out and about and hunger hits. I want to start buying snacks every week and putting them in the back of our car. This will help us from eating out.
Thanks for the wonderful tips!
Love that!
❤fruit, a cooler with ice in the car holds grapes, apples, other fruits, WATER, etc. Way cheaper than snacking for $$$. Graham crackers, other homemade cookis etc for sweet treats.
Good tips. And local stations have TH-cam channels and they release the news before the news show is broadcast on tv
Thank you, Emmy and Paul. Great ideas. I’ve been eating out of my freezer, fridge and pantry. It has saved me money, kept me out of the grocery store and the drive-thru. I also lost 5 lbs without even trying. I think that boredom was the root cause of me wanting to leave home to do something like shop.
I also formerly used shopping as recreation. Not any more!
Wonderful! Good for you!
After I have been cooking from scratch at home, I can't stand restaurant food.
I trade flowers/plants with family and friends. We are going to go to a memorial service that our town puts together. Then we have a bonfire in our fire pit in the backyard. Happy Memorial Day Emmy and Paul! 😊
You as well, thanks!
Great video Paul and Emmy. my family is having a family reunion next weekend. instead of renting an expensive Airbnb, we are going camping in Northern PA. We are saving a lot of money and will enjoy meaningful time outside together.
Sounds wonderful, Annie!
Although we do have Roku.. I would love to get rid of our cable. We only have the basic package we still pay 216.00 a month (😢) because it's the only way to have internet we need because my husband has been able to work from home since the pandemic which we love.. Praise the Lord.. We've been able to go to only 1 car and save money on gas and tolls.. But we're unable to get a cheaper internet 😣.
Call your cable company and ask for the price on the least expensive internet that is not advertised. Yes, they have unadvertised cheaper price but few people know to ask for it. If they claim they don't have one tell them that the plan your on is unsustainable for your budget and you really need to have something cheaper. Usually they will lower the price even if it's for a yr but hey it saves you money. Never hurts to ask 👍
I feel for you. I was so happy when a local provider ran Fios down our road last year. We saved more than $200 each month from dumping cable.
Wow, over $200 just for internet? Does that include cable TV programs? If so, just cancel the TV package and tell them you just want internet. Then you can stream the roku, plus there are other streaming services, for just a small monthly amount.
Ugh! That stinks! Will your husband’s company pay for part or all of that? Would be worth asking!
Since I used Roku & ditched Cable, I guess I saved between ten or twenty thousand dollars, don't miss it at all.
I only take an actual shower 2x a week. The other days I use a peri bottle while standing in the shower and get very clean only filling the bottle 3 times. This saves so much water without sacrificing cleanliness. I also have a pail under the bottle while I’m filling it, so I can use any spillage for watering plants.
I'll add to the list. Designing and making things you need or want such as bookcases, table with a special purpose, drawer set for any need, repairing cabinets including drawers that come apart or some plastic part breaks and replace it with wood or metal. Repairing furniture, wood parts, gluing or replacing broken pieces, replacing the covers on furniture. On this line, I'm building out a cargo van into a class B RV to travel in.
Love this! Exactly!
TH-cam is its weight in gold...I fixed my washer 3 times myself! Refurbished a dining table and a dresser! Started a garden!! And so many new recipies!! The list goes on and on!!
That is so thrifty of you!
First, I watched the other 20 money saving ideas video, then I read some of the comments. Just finished watching this video, and it inspired me to get the cooling cloth out of storage, and use it instead of A/C. GREAT CONTENT!!!
Awesome! Thank you, Giselle!

Car care and maintenance.
All wonderful hints!
Happy Friday and Happy Memorial Day! I’ve learned a few things from TH-cam like how to replace the broken mini blind slats… that my cats just can’t resist pulling apart!
I inventoried my chest freezer last weekend and just finished canning blackberry/blueberry pie filling with a couple bags of frozen berries and making butternut squash soup for lunch with frozen roasted butternut squash I froze last fall. I’m making pizza for dinner with pizza dough I made and froze also. Love my freezer! 😁
Freezers are our friends lol!
Congratulations!! We have the lowest internet package. It works for 6 people in the house and some of the are gamers. We purchased a really good router from Amazon for about $150. This saves us a lot no renting the router cost and cheaper internet. Our bill is $20 a month with optimum.
Thanks for sharing!!
I liked this as much if not more, than the first video!
That solid color, royal blue blouse looks amazing on you Emmy.
As for Memorial Day weekend, thank you for acknowledging the soldiers that gave their all to protect our country!
I work for Public Health, and I will be working OT on Memorial Day processing laboratory samples and data entering newborn screening cards for all of the babies born over the holiday weekend 😊
Thanks for sharing and watching!
More great tips! I’m going to see my mom and dad over the weekend and I’m bringing a cherry crisp dessert. My mom is making steak on the grill. Yum! 😋Another tip I thought of. Before buying a specialty appliance like an instant pot or air fryer or ice cream maker, etc, see if you can borrow a friend’s, use it a few times and see if it is something you really want to invest in. So many people buy stuff they think “oh I’ll totally use this” and then it ends up going into a closet to collect dust after being used 1 or 2 times. Such a waste. So if you have a friend or family member who has the product, ask them if they’d be willing to let you try theirs and if you use and feel it is worth it, then ok, buy one. But maybe you use it and go “eh it’s not worth it for me.” And if you can’t borrow the item, ask friends who have bought one to tell you how often they use theirs, for what purposes, how much room does it take up, etc, before buying.
Good idea…I got an instant pot when they were the rage…used it 2 or 3 times….I really don’t care for it one bit. It’s under my sink eating space ( space is very dear in my house). I think I will “ buy nothing” it tomorrow.
YUP! That's me with the Instant Pot too...
Our library has a whole section that has items to try like this person stated. All you have to do is bring them back clean.
And how difficult or time-consuming it is to clean! I’ve realized that my chef’s knife is faster than most little kitchen appliances plus it is way easier and faster to clean, and takes up almost no space.
Thank you for posting a 2nd video about this!
Our pleasure!
I just discovered your channel and have happily subscribed. Hopefully this makes you smile and doesn't offend you. But when you showed the steps, flowers, etc., in the background, I saw those flat concrete rocks and thought: Oh my! Are they burying the family in their yard to save cemetery plot costs?? And then quickly told myself that would be illegal!! LOL
No, we’re not cheap we’re frugal lol. Our house is built into the side of the mountain. There are lots of steps, walkways, and terraces. No bodies.
You guys are so awesome and clever and come up with brilliant ideas. Thank you ❤
So kind, thank you!
I just learned about TAP COLD 🥶 on the washing machine. I had no idea cold water was mixed with warm to make cold water! Crazy!
Interlibray Loan - In the continental US you can get any book that is at any public library (including public universities), through the interlibrary loan system, the item is sent to your local library reserved and checked out to you - note usually the time is very limited and the late fees are high.
They started charging us here if it's not within so many miles :(
I go to thrift stores a lot. I buy interesting toys in good condition for not much money. Also I buy fabric scraps. When a baby is born, or a child has a birthday, I already have unique toys to give them that I have cleaned and reurbished. I also make quilts with the scrap fabric and then I have a quilt to give a new baby or even an adult. It ihas saved me money over the years and I always have something to give when the time comes.
Love that so much! Brilliant!
Love the shout out to our military and great money saving ideas! Our household latest money saver: switching from scented cat litter to purchasing pine litter from tractor and trailer supply. Cats are fully transitioned and it has saved us a ton of money! A pine litter bag cost $5.49 and lasts at least a month or more. Also started using laundry sheets instead of liquid or powder detergent - I think we use a lot less soap by switching.
Wonderful!
What a genius idea keeping the sheets inside the pillow case. Emy, i swear, you strike every time ❤
LOL! Thanks so much, Carmen!
Love the pizza idea!
It does help LOL!
I love it too! I always have something in the freezer from making double batches or casseroles we love. Then it’s a treat!
Keep hem tape in your sewing kit. I can't hold a needle anymore so I use the tape to fix hems or even whole shirts.
Smart!
Thank you for the suggestion.
I'm fascinated by the comments and what a difference where and when you were raised, makes to how you view these strategies. We retired (a little early) to a rural property, so many of the 'normal' urban lifestyle just don't exist here (take-out, drive through and delivery food). We do get pretty cold here and there's a wood fire but no central heating (so no 'turn down the thermostat). Pretty much everything else is just the way my parents trained me
Crotchet and knit my own winter hats and scarves.
I do , too! Do you have any pattern on scarfs and hats that you can share?
Thanks again "frugal coach" for keeping us all on track.😄
Also , and of great importance , Thanks for including the reminder of Remembrance and gratitude to All those who have fought for our countries freedom . So important so remember that Freedom is not Free ❤❤❤
Emmy---hoe beautiful this blue blouse looks on you!
HOW beautiful I meant!
Yes, so true!
Thanks so much, Alys
I just did a wash with tap water and on light cycle. Thank you for all your frugal suggestions.
Rain barrels to water your flowers ir garden.
I like doing art so having some basic art supplies around lets me make cards and paintings for people for their birthdays or holidays. This can save a lot of money on greeting cards and store bought gifts.
Homemade is always so much better too!

I keep Ellio's pizza in the freezer for quick meals.
At this time of year, I pretty much keep my curtains closed. During the winter, I open them. Since my house faces south, it does a pretty good job of heating the house.
That's wonderful!
