  • Is the Audi e-tron GT more than just an affordable version of the Porsche Taycan? We've driven both versions to find out if this new electric grand tourer has what it takes to carve its own path. After all, the e-tron GT has to be a suitable halo in Audi's range, to replace the R8 which was discontinued in Australia in 2022.
The RS e-tron GT is in fact the most powerful mass-produced Audi ever made, pushing out some of the brand's greatest combustion hits like the R8 and the RS7.
We'll take a look at how much the e-tron GT costs, and what you get for its hefty price-tag, as well as if it's particularly practical, making the most of its rather large footprint. We'll also be analysing its standard features, and whether rival flagship EVs like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 have an advantage over the Audi when you remove the performance component.
Of course, we'll also tell you what the e-tron GT is like to drive, as well as what kind of safety features it has, and analyse its ownership promise, which comes with some surprises for the Australian market.

Yes there are 2 charging ports, 1 on each side but they’re not the same. 1 is for DC, the other for AC. So it does matter what side you park next to a charger.
There is a lot of regen, It’s just not 1 pedal driving. The brake pedal only uses regen up to 0.3 G force (most EVs is 0.2 Gs) and will use blended braking (regen + physical brakes) above that. The fact this is so seamlessly incorporated into the brake pedal that most reviewers make the same regen complaint about the car is a testament to Audi/Porsche engineering! Including 1 pedal driving would not increase your regen/efficiency (it would make it worse) and Audi have said that their tests showed that coasting is more efficient. I.e. it’s a point of praise not criticism.
Aus car reviewers should be pushing the use of WLTP and only including NEDC (Not Even Damn Close) if they are required. For EVs, WLTP can even be an overstatement due to how environmental factors affect them. I look for WLTP to know what to expect and some hyper-miling figures to know what’s possible.

Are you guys and Chasing Cars linked in some way? You both release videos of the same car at pretty much the same time so it doesn't give any real differentiation. Just interested to know or wonder why that happens.

250k car is a budget Porsche? huh? Both versions of the E-Tron GT cost more than the Taycan... but no visor for the sunroof is a no-go, what kind of oversight was this?

After you actually option a Taycan Turbo to equal spec it's going to cost far more than this. Most cars don't have shades for a panoramic sunroof.

      @@Michael-xv9ku Nope.
Stock vs decked out is not a comparison.
E-tron is 283k brand new (not 250 I said earlier) I doubt your Taycan is going above that so much as to still call Audi "budget". Poor choice of words by video guy.

@@Michael-xv9ku For nearly 300k I think we can figure out a slide over visor in the cabin like every other sunroof on earth.

@@jasonnikolic I'm not familiar with Australian pricing, but thats surprising to me. In the states, the RS Etron is $165k and an equally specced Taycan is $182k. Unlike Audi, you can't just look at the base price of a Porsche, all the price is in the options.

    • @Michael-xv9ku

lol, the Taycan actually has a very expensive option to electronically dim the pano roof.
