you guys did the unthinkable f u apple making me buy a new laptop because of a broken screen and dented botom panel
After removing the original LCD, take a fine point sharpie and go over top of the display flex cable before removing it from the iron bar; this will help you line it up properly because if it's off EVEN SLIGHTLY, you're going to have issues with light leakage or the screws not going in properly.
When putting the iron bar back on, line up the end holes with the (+) on the new LCD.
TEST the display before removing the adhesive cover. There's nothing worse than adhering it down and having it not work then potentially breaking it when opening it back up and not being able to get a refund because of it.

how thick of an adhesive tape should be used? 1mm?
@@inobevious8913 If you're talking thickness in terms of "length", for the bar, I use 5mm, but to go around the frame, I use 3mm. I start on the bottom and if I'm replacing the diffuser sheets, I go up to about a quarter inch before the tabs that hold them in place start on each side, then finish going from that ending point to the top after I've layed them down; otherwise, I run it all the way up and then go to the top corner and run it above the camera to the other corner.

Hello - I’ve an issue of damaged screen and I need to reset my password using Apple ID through recovery window on MacBook Pro 2016 16 inch. The recovery view of utility window shows up on the damaged laptop screen and not on extended monitor. If I remove the display connection only , without removing battery and Wi-Fi, will that transfer entire display on extended monitor, enabling me to see recovery screen and reset password

Will replacing the lcd on a 2018 model a1989 be similar to this repair?
It would be best to tear a damaged screen to figure it out. I am assuming it would be same if the part is available for sale.
@@efxcomputer4054 I did the replacement. There were a lot of similarities, but it was a bit trickier with my model than the one shown. It's definitely doable though

Greetings, I have a Mac like the one in the video with the following problem:The screen only works if its not extended past a 45 degree angle, If set to above 45 degree angle it will freeze up and show lines. But once set back below the 45 degree angle it works fine. Based on your experience, where could the fault be?
That's an LCD issue; I work for AGiRepair and have repaired literally thousands of MacBook LCDs and I've seen this issue many times.
These are fixable. #dustgate issue google for info.

In my opinion the most difficult task in retina screen replacing would be to not contaminate the backlight diffuser. Using an excess of alcool would mess up everything as well as touching it or punching it with the tweezers. The tool is nice but I don't think it will be enough to accomplish the task in the proper way...

Depends on the screen you are getting. All of them comes from China. Most of them shows true tone but not works like as in original

The problem is this is a very expensive repair the chance of failure and parts is high... Since screen is expensive and hard to get... It just be easier and cheaper to swap the whole top half off a used broken or locked unit and be done with it..

Dam i have been using .05mm feeler gauges before I new this existed.
do feeler gauge sets work? or is it inconvenient?
@@KurtBarcelona I have been using feeler gauges on iPad surface pros surface book and a few newer imacs and they work great. I use the thinnest one I can get away with. But be careful not to insert too far. And because the feeler gauge I am using is so thin if you push took hard you will fold it over.
@@MrOgger151 oh nice feeler gauges are cheaper (ten times cheaper) than the air mac part the video is using. Ill just use feeler gauges instead. Thanks!
