I really love this video! I tried it tonight and it came out pretty good! The only thing is my lotion didn’t come out as thick but I think it’s because I used coconut oil. Still works pretty nicely for my dry skin so thank you!
Honestly, this is the absolutely BEST video I've EVER found on TH-cam about this topic. It is so informative, in-depth, not just "add this add that and you are good to go" but you also explain the whys. Very professional, very well done!
I always thought these kind of content is girly boring videos until I watched you talk with all the facts and details about creating skin care products. You actually opened a new world for me - as someone who loves cooking, now I find great interest & pleasure into creating cosmetics. Thank you for your great videos, I created my first beewax cream today and it went flawless!
Love this.. I worked at a biotech company for an internship the past six months developijg lotion and sunscreen and this information is very accurate!, I wanna make some on my own
This is the best lotion-making tutorial out there! Thank you, Elise!! I’ve been using a skin cream made by a local artisan for years. It’s the only one I’ve ever found that moisturizes all day, absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy feel, and won’t irritate my very breakout-prone skin. But the woman who makes it is retiring!! I was devastated and couldn’t find anything to replace this great moisturizer. I had the ingredients from the label but not the proportions. Your video has given me the confidence to make it myself! Thank you again!!!
All the soap, lotion, DIY channels I've been through, to finally find one that isn't obnoxious, hard to understand, missing details........I'm happy to be here, even if it seems I'm late. This is how nurturing yourself, helping others, and keeping a pleasant persona the whole time looks.
Anyone else wish she had a range of products you could buy? I want natural products but the search is so hard!! Feels like whatever you made, it'd have only the essentials and would be ACTUALLY natural unlike so many brands that claim to be! (Making searching impossible)
I really appreciate this video! I was looking for an in-depth video on how to make lotions so I could have some basic knowledge and this definitely did that! Please make more!

Hi Elise, I would just like to thank you and express how grateful I am for all the work you have put into your you tube channel and your web page, I only "discovered" you in the last week and I am so happy. You are not only very informative but so professional in your presentation, your video's are easy to watch and listen to also. Again many thanks, what a great "find".
Hello Elise, I have watched so many DIY skin care video's and yousr is by far the most informative, factual and well made. Thank you for taking the time and the utmost care to explain everything and put measurements and even putting an agenda on the screen - you absolutely covered every base; we could not ask for more. Moisturising Natural Lotion in less than an hour? Check. No fillers or harmful ingredients? Check. Budget friendly lotion that will last for at least 3 months?? Check! Nothing beats #NaturalSkincare 😘
Hi Trina, thanks for trying it out sorry it didn't go quite to plan. Did you change any of the ingredients? Although you can substitute the ingredients for whatever you have available often times I can slightly change the lotion's final consistency. If it's now down to the ingredients there might have been a problem with the emulsion stage. If there wasn't enough air incorporated into the lotion when you whipped it up it could lead to a thinner, runnier consistency. If you leave the lotion to cool more before using an electric mixer that could help. 😊💚
Hi, thank you for replying x I used jojoba oil thats the only difference in ingredients I also used an immersion blender x I'm thinking my emulsifier is not great and I need more of it x I will try again xx
@@trinamcdonnell7888 hmm if that's the only change then it shouldn't make any real difference to the texture. I think it's a good shout to up the emulsifying wax just in case. Do let me know how it goes! 💚

I tried this and It does take a while to get the thick creamy texture. So this diy does require patience. Mine is definitely still runny so I may have not used enough emulsifying wax. However with it being runny it still moisturizes PERFECTLY!! Thank you for this Diy☺️

Aww thank Monique! I really wanted to make a tutorial that after watching you'd feel confident that you could make it yourself, so it's great to hear you found it helpful 😊
over the years i have spent hours watching natural skincare vids, tried all sorts of recipes (that haven't worked out) but i've learned tenfold all that watching two of ur vids!
I made this recipe this morning. When it seriously separated I realized the oil to water ratio was wrong. I have made this type of cream before and realized I needed to add more oil. I reheated everything including the new oil additions. Eventually it all emulsified. Next time I would use more honey and try a different oil as I am a bit tired of using sweet almond for soaps and creams.
This is the most informative and beautifully explained diy product making video I’ve ever watched.Thank you for sharing your knowledge, such a breath of fresh air ❤.
I made lotion for the first time today thanks to you and it came out great! I'm never buying lotion again! I used: 69% Distilled Water 10% Avocado Oil 10% Shea Butter 5% Emulsifying Wax 3% Glycerin 1% Vitamin E 1% Grapefruit & Jasmine Oils (for fragrance) 1% Preservative
Thank you for explaining it so I could learn properly. So very helpful. I just made a body butter with my sister with mango butter grapeseedoil infusion with plaintan leaf , candulda, yarrow herb.
Another lovely tutorial, thank you 😊. A quick question please, is there such thing as using too many different oils in a lotion/cream; do you have a recommended amount. Would you say using 6 different oils is bad? King regards
Ooh that's a great question... there's no set rule in regards to how many oils you want to use. In fact a lot of commercial products end up having a large combination. But generally speaking there is an overlap in benefits between oils which usually means that it's not necessary to use a lot. And when you're dealing with small quantities like in lotions, 1g of this and 1g of that can be a little awkward to measure. When it comes to skincare, often times there might be reasons why you would limit the amount due to absorption levels or reactions you could have, I tend to not use more than 4. But that's the beauty of making your own skincare - definitely experiment to see what works best for you! Thanks for all the support Ameena! 😊💚
❤️ Found your videos so inspring and actually started to create. Have got all ingredients but can't find leucidal liquid 😕. Can you list some names of natural preservatives please. As Iam new to this 😊.
Hi Erika! Thank you so much, it really makes me happy to know that your getting into making your own skincare! I'm working on putting together more information on natural preservatives - but for now these might be more readily available for you: Preservative ECO or Geogard ECT or PlantaservM. I hope that helps! 😊
Im so glad I found your video! I have bought and wasted so many products in the past because the videos are boring or confusing. I was cleaning off my computer and this video was open in a window. I watched it, then went to your Instagram, and I started all this 3 hours ago.😂 Your videos are addicting girl! Thank you so much for sharing your very informative information!! I can't wait to make this. Would replacing the almond oil for coconut oil still work? My son is allergic to almonds.
I loved this answered all my questions I no longer have to google lol. I'm glad you explained that regular been wax isn't the same as the proper emulsifier that is really needed for lotion cause I have bees wax that looks just like what you have e so I thought I had everything needed until that part. So I'll be hitting the organic store for an emulsifier & a natural preservitive. Thank you so much for this video.😊
Aww thank you! I was hoping to put all the necessary information in one video to make it easier for people to know where to start when it comes to homemade skincare. Haha I completely understand - it's extra confusing when "wax" means different things depending on the product. I'm so glad this video helps 😊
@@WholeElise I'm in the same situation and I assumed I could substitute. I'm so glad you said "bees wax" because that got my attention! Is there something else that can be added so that the bees wax can be used? Isn't Witch Hazel an emulsifier?

Could you please specify in grams how much is 70% water and 3% honey. Thank you. Enjoyed your video, lots of great information. I found the info I was looking for...
Hi Barbara, so glad you found this helpful. The percentages were a guide to aid scaling up or down the recipe, but the exact measurements should also be in the video & description below. Glad you were able to find them, and thanks for watching! 😊💚
Thanks for all the great info. I use beeswax to emulsify and my lotion stayed the same for 7 months which was when it was all used up...it was creamy, lovely on application and did not ever separate 🌷
I will pick glycerin or sod lactat than honey, as im not sure it could hold my lotion preserve well...but its a good explanation on your side, and ill choose liquid germall plus than leucidal sf..but its up to you
Hi Beenish, I'd recommend adding aloe vera juice rather than the gel as it's easier to incorporate into the lotion. You can replace the water with the juice 😊
This was a very well thought out video. Tons of great useful information for anyone just starting their skin care journey, this is a great starting point. I'm glad you covered preservatives and antioxidants, NOONE SHOULD EVER NOT USE THESE TWO VITAL INGREDIENTS!!! Especially if you are selling your products.
@@TooieMorgan I'm not sure if whitchhazle is an emulsifier but I did use some in my lotion
@@WholeElise And it turned out great. My daughters took the left over lotion before I could even make a move on it. Thank you again. 😊
This was incredibly helpful - it's the most informative video I've found on this topic by far. Thank you! 🙋🏽♀️
Yasssss sis so cute and informative ❤️🙌🏾
Aww thanks my lovely! So glad you like my tutorials 😊💚
Wouuuh thank you for all. I just want to make it a big business and your help will be welcomed. You are doing such an amazing work, I was suching for someone to teach for long time and I found you. Thanks!
Amazing 🤩.. I have a question here, What is the antioxidant you use? I’m trying to find the name..
Thanks Ria! I use vitamin E as my antioxidant, you can check it out here: wholeelise.com/ingredients/where-to-buy-natural-cosmetics-ingredients/#antioxidant
SO MUCH VALUABLE INFORMATION! everything in one video! I will definitely try it out, wish me luck! PS. it would be so helpful to see tips on where to shop for the ingredients and how to get the most out of your money but still get good quality ingredients
4:13. "You can use an egg but .... ill😧" Love how you explain that. You were so cute. 你真可爱 🤗
I will pick glycerin or sod lactat than honey, as im not sure it could hold my lotion preserve well...but its a good explanation on your side, and ill choose liquid germall plus than leucidal sf..but its up to you
I love all your presentations it's so informative, and straight to the point.❤️😀
Thank you so much! I'm so happy it's resonating with you 😊
This is something I keep thinking about doing. Now I have found your channel it seems even more likely so thanks for posting this. I have subscribed.
Ma’am if we want to add aloe vera gel to this when should we add it??
Hi Beenish, I'd recommend adding aloe vera juice rather than the gel as it's easier to incorporate into the lotion. You can replace the water with the juice 😊
@@WholeElise thanks alot!
Love the videos, then taking the time to put it in writing..

Can you replace water with aloe Vera juice?
Hi Elise, loving how easy your instructions are to follow..wanted to try and make my own lotion using your lotion calculator but in the recipe above you say that you use 2% Preservative but your calculator only allows for a 1% option
