    I was just introduced to the importance of PH in hair care and it's very surprising the amount of shampoos in the market with the wrong ph! So I'm very pleased with how detailed you go by this process. I don't think natural is necessarily better but when you go with the science as well and take so much care with every step? My mind is blown. You are amazing! Thank you!

  • @georgeparker9530

    I love the way you are clearly talking to us not dictating, you explain the science without talking above us. You can tell us how to do it in a friendly way without being guttural. There is a gentle kindness and caring in your manner of speech with a total absence of arrogance that is very refreshing (qualities that are very lacking in other DIY soap videos). Since you don't have any products for sale on your website, including the ingrediencies for the various recipes, I can only guess that your income is derived from your TH-cam channel. So just to do my part, I subscribed. This is the only channel I have done that with. The best part of your videos is the fact that you don't nag at us to do so. Thank you

    You are absolutely correct in testing the shampoo on your hands first. I purchased a DIY shampoo on Etsy and used the same method. It dried my hands out so I assumed it was “doing it’s job”. Big mistake. That was before watching this video of course. After washing my hair with the product, it took 2 months of DC and a protein treatment to get my hair back to normal. Knowledge and common sense is power.

    This was a good recipe in my opinion, (conditioning shampoo) I was veary nervous making it after reading the comments. I had to weed out all the comments about the sound of your voice and the few that actually tried the recipe, which was a little annoying. .It's nice for people to give compliments but understand that most of use that are looking for a good recipe, are looking for feedback...
    For those of you that said your recipe did not come out good, I say this.... If you use BTMS 50 instead of 25 you have to use half the amount 7.5g and you have to increase the Cetyl Alcohol. I increased to 7g but that made it a bit too thick and then I had to add a bit more water( not sure if that was the right thing) so next time I will probably try 5 or 6. I also increase the oil by 3g. I used argon oil. For those of you that said you have to incrase the zanthan gum, note: there is no zanthan gum in the 2nd recipe. Anyway, mine came out very creamy,and made gread suds. On that note I hope it doesn't seperate!. Thanks for the recipe. Both were actually good!

    One question… anyone tried the second recipe and had any issues with it? For some reason my shampoo started forming flakes inside. I have warmed up and melted oil phase but it started solidifying really fast and in the end my products ended up with flakes floating inside. Have I done something wrong? 🙈

I tried twice making it, following your instructions in detail, but after almost a week both my shampoos get separated, leaving water down and oils up, as if I didn't heat it. Do you have any idea why is this happening? Thank you in advance!

    • @goddesscurls60
      @goddesscurls60 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like an 'emulsifying mishap". Oil and water not mixing. You want to get your oil amount, the btms and thickener correct. Thats where the problem is coming from.

Would I also be able to trade in the coconut oil for the addition of a butter, such as like mango butter, or would you solely recommend utilizing an oil for that step? Thank you!

    hi you're so amazing. Thanks for your video.
    I just want to ask few questions:
    - can I use only distilled water and floral water( rosemary water maybe) instead of hydrosol ?
    - can I add argan oil ?
    - can I use only cocamidopropyl betaine and not decyl glucoside ?

    Hi Elise, i love this recipe, although I'm keen to try adding some other active ingredients. What would the measurement be for these? Would the amounts just follow the same as the other active ingredients you have measured out? eg. 1 g
    thanks so much

    Just a warning! The shampoo works GREAT! But if you sub the hydrosol with water or Aloe Vera Juice, have a backup plan to cover up the scent of the massive amount of glucoside! Lol. Hydrosols work great at covering up the scent though. So I suggest sticking to using a hydrosol OR a fragrance/Essential oil to work into the formulation! Happy making! 😁

      So it's best to stick to this recipe as is?

    • @heidicroucher
      @heidicroucher 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be the easiest for a beginner to stick to it, yes. However, if someone wanted to use water or aloe vera juice instead of a hydrosol, then it would be best (in terms of scent) to add a fragrance or essential oil at about .5-1% following the guidelines for that product and just subtract that .5 or 1% from the water phase.
      Hope that helps 😁

    Elise, this was so, eye opening! I make shampoo disks with surfactants, but I have some customers who bulk at the idea!
    This tutorial gave me a boost to get into the studio and create some bottled shampoo. Let you know when and how it is received by my customers!
