honestly those were words to live by, he couldve handled it worse by banishing her to hell
His only mistake was not doing something similar to Thor in the MCU or just at least teach her like an actual parent. But again I wonder what kind of man Odin was when he started his conquering of the Nine Realms or whatever.

I’d rather see a universe where Loki is a loving father to Hela.
It could happen in "If I could Start Again"
In that fanfiction, Thor and Loki are as close as siblings can be, and in the last chapter, they travel to her prison with the intention to make her an ally to Asgard against Thanos.
I doubt they can succeed, but they could still fight her if she gets too difficult.

the sad thing of Ragnarok is that its a self full filling prophecy the more the Aesir/Asgardians try to avoid it the more they aim themselves towards it

They way this video was cut make me wonder if Hela helmet was meant to acted like a chain to control her sense they seams to draw comparison to the chain that control Hela dog and how Odin say 'A king need to tame threat' when they introduce her to her Helmet.
Also was it in other Thor movie that reveal that Thor don't actually need his Hammer for him to have Lighting Powers, So it would reason that Hela didn't need her helmet for her full power but was either made to believed this or Odin bound her power to it to better control her, as he said 'A king need to tame threats to make sure they fight for him'.

God of War isn’t technically wrong.
In the mythology, many of the Jötnar could be considered “good” or at least neutral. Sure, there were some evil ones, like Loki.
At the end of the day, everyone knew Loki didn’t WANT war, but they tolerated his mischief as a way to renew all of their sins.
Ymir wasn’t even evil, yet Odin killed him, which started the war.
Æsir/Vanir vs Jötnar is the equivalent of culture Vs nature. Nature is neutral, culture takes sides. The advancement of culture means the destruction of nature, and often times nature is deadly to humans.
Thor would often travel through Jötunheim to get to Midgard, slaughtering as many giants as he could on the way.
Odin was power hungry and the Jötnar had mysterious power. He did what he could to gain knowledge on it, even going to Mimir, who was a Jötun, to gain knowledge.
On top of all that, the people of Scandinavia at the time were not good people. They cherished war, they lived to die for it. They were evil and monstrous.
The Vikings were even worse. They all identified with the Æsir.

@@ethandenton3393 raising his daughter into being a killing machine and then sealing her away because he suddenly wants peace and him being surprised she doesn't want that even though he raised her that way. Banishing Thor and taking his powers because of how cocky Thor is. Odin raised Thor and was there all of his life for over 1000 years you can't tell me he didn't notice thors behavior and personality within that time so maybe Odin should have come to the conclusion to change his parenting before trying to make Thor king. Odin putting Loki away in prison without even trying to rehabilitate him even though Loki just needed to hear that he was loved Important and maybe needs some family therapy sessions. Most of the Problems could have been solved by just talking to them, trying to actively change their relationship or using his thousands of year's of live experience to simply raise his children not to be such a mess. Every time he has a big problem with his children he either imprisones or banishes them. Saying he is a bad father isn't right it would be more correct to say he is bad at raising children to have balanced healthy personalities.
Odin had never once given his first born and only daughter the chances and choice he give Thor and Loki.
Odin was kind of a dick.

@Hlord-be4xx I believe the phrase is 'rules for thee, not for me'. Odin's golden palace was made from the gold of world's he and Hela conquered. Yet, suddenly he grows a 'conscience' and decides Hela is evil and has no respect for life. If Odin was so 'respectful' why didn't he return the gold he STOLE and help rebuild the civilizations he helped massacre. The double standards is strong in this one.

The Wat if ... series is apart of the MCU, in which sacred timeline Loki kills his birth father not Odin. Laufey (Loki's father) abandoned infant Loki. Odin took Loki in because of political interest. But in What if ... season 1, one of the episodes had Odin return Loki and convince Laufey to raise him. That was the universe that got party Thor.

This episode just shows how bad of a dad and person he is. He makes Hella a fighter and tells her to give up the fight when all he ever taught her to do is fight

Ok genuine question here: In Thor Ragnarok, Odin tells Thor that the hammer was never the source of his power, only a conduit for it. But, when Odin takes Hela’s crown and, I guess now that I think about it, Thor’s hammer in the first Thor movie he says, “I now take from you, your power”… so which is it, the item that gives them the power or the power that is inside them?
If my memory serves me correctly...Odin took Mjolnir from Thor, then started stripping him of his asgardian armor stating that he's taking his power. But it's more of a visual metaphor, it's the encantation he uses that takes the power. Then it's the enchantment of the hammer/helmet that restores said power.
Odin stripped Thor of his power. But he can’t just let it float off or anything. It’s a god’s power. So naturally he tied it to the hammer. Probably did the same with Hela. But when they earn it back, it becomes theirs again. It’s not just in their weapon anymore. They reclaim it.
But Odin can tie it to a conduit any time. It’s just that they’ve learned their lesson and never need that kind of lesson taught to them again.
As the others said above, but also because of Thor Love and Thunder we see that Thor can also imbue items as conduits of his power. Cap, Foster, and several kids were all able to have Thor's power while he himself still retained his power without a conduit. For others the items are their source of Thor's power, but for Thor/Hella it seems to be a permanent obtainment once they learn the lesson given to them.

Cool episode but it bothered me so much that they easily took on without being on his level of power or even near it. If she had her power restored beforehand the fight would have been way better.
I thought this too, but it's supposed to be because Hela learned a new martial art and worked as a team. In short, it was her huge character growth that let her beat Odin.

If not, the children will continue to inherit the sins of the father. He also didn't want his children cowards or soft which is why he gave them a path toward their powers. This is not how it works ,Odin can’t take heals powers ,he could take thors hammer and that’s all Thor was bond to the hammer and so was his power(at the time) if his power wasn’t bound to the hammer Odin wouldn’t be able to take away his powers away ,but thors hammer had enchainments placed on it by Odin ,unlike hela her powers are literally hers the thing on top of her head is apart of her body if can just be removed lol ,it’s apart of her very body ,so Odin can’t really take away her powers
It's a shame Tyr was never brought into the mcu. His wisdom would have prevented Hela and Thor from falling so hard.

She ain’t wrong though, she clearly had a sweet nature and then Odin purposely raised it out of her to make her a fighter and than suddenly decided to change his mind and expected his daughter to just stop being the exact thing he raised her to be. Odin is clearly a shit father, he could raise any of his children right. Sure his “lesson” depending on universe did lead to good hero’s but only because he was a shit father that couldn’t just raise them to be that way to begin with. Dude had to wait until his kids were at such a low and were such a disappointment or disobedient to decide that maybe he should do something about it.
