He’s also trying to hammer it down Loki’s mind that Odin sees him as a son, and not as a means to bring about peace towards the Jotunn
I imagine a huge reason this was changed was they decided to include Dr. Strange in the script and he sent them to where Odin was because it doesn't make sense that the sorcerers would just let this happen. Still...quite a deleted scene. I like how she was able to hear from her father why he banished her.
Never knew this existed, but now seeing it reminds of of the first teaser trailer i seen of ragnarok. Hella breaking thors hammer in a alleyway, i remember seeing that clip and was so confused when it was somewhere else.
This was just way better than the scene in Norway (or wherever it was). It fit the characters better, the location made more sense, and the characterizations were more consistent. It only needed some refining and a little more editing.
Thank god they didn't go with this one. Despite all the other good things in it, Odin came of as a weakling and would diminish what's seen as his power with him getting to do very little.
This scene was deleted because it doesn't make sense for the following reasons: 1-Hela couldn't escape her banishment while Odin is still alive since it was his life that was keeping her locked away in the first place. 2-Hela couldn't possibly kill Odin because he's far more powerful than her considering he defeated her when she was at full power when he banished her. In fact, Odin was the only being aside from Surtur who can defeat Hela at all
The biggest reason this scene was deleted was because one of the most powerful beings in the known universe is now an insane, dirty street urchin collecting junk. It's on the record they wanted a more dignified ending for Odin.
the one in the movie is more beautiful to watch, but for some reason I find this version more appropriate, more real-life gritty, because often its when we / someone we know hit rock bottom that they realize the life lessons and appreciate their blessings. you can see a sampling of these with the wonderfully acted scenes between Chris, Tom and Sir Anthony. being in a stinky alley doesn't mask the fact that in the end, Odin becomes human and fully realizes what it's like, why both Thor and Loki has affinity for Midgard. remember Odin was so condescending of humans in Thor2, I'm pretty sure there were more Odin scenes as an old man around Earth, would've loved to have seen that so that he would at least have a character arc.
This version shows how much more of a threat hela is (with HOW MUCH she is shown already in the final version with destroying mjolnir) than the final version, simply because she barely spoke any word and act menacingly The final ver could've done the same by removing the exchange between thor and hela when she catched mjolnir
So THIS is the scene they used in the teaser trailer! Very interesting, also judging from how polished the effect were in the trailer they had it in consideration until the very end, or maybe they used it as decoy, something like they did in the Infinity War trailer. Either way, it’s cool to see an alternative version, this definitely has a few elements that I prefer over the final one
This scene would’ve been great in the movie, but it would’ve heavily altered Thor’s visions of Odin when he was fighting the hulk and his melee with Hela. Instead of a groomed, earthly Odin found on Norway (ironically where Norse mythology traces back to btw) we would’ve had a broken, deranged man gratuitously advising Thor to awaken his true power from within.
2:40 Look at the back on the wall the posters say “Thunder love” I don’t know if it was a Easter egg to the next movie which is Love and Thunder but it’s pretty cool
Odin having a dignified, peaceful and respectful send off and goodbye with his children I believe is a vast improvement over this. Having a bumbling senile Odin played almost for comedy being immediately followed up by his murder is just tonally confusing and weird.
Can't remember where I saw this but in some sort of screening a lot of people apparently felt the same. It just didn't seem plausible that a being as powerful as Odin could be so easily reduced to a powerless slightly demented bum. Hence the change.
i can see why this wasn't used since it would be a plot hole, Dr. Strange is in the area, it also would be in humane for strange not to appear. since he could detect them.
I honestly like this version of the their reunion as much as the one they went with. It provides just the same amount of closure and pretty much explains Odin's treatment of Loki well "your lawlessness you inherited from me" I really like this interaction❤
Even you could tell it was green screened, I prefer the version in the film in Norway. Felt much more emotional and less rushed compared to this actually.
I remember that this was the original scene where Hela was supposed to be revealed. There's a reason it's such a long deleted scene. I wish they shot this properly and without such awkward pacing and framing.
What really irked me about this scene was the part where Odin explains to Loki that he inherited certain traits from him even though Loki is not Asgardian but a Frost Giant's child. This scene is just as powerful as the one we got in the movie - but Odin never transferred his power to Thor in that scene like in this one, it would have made more sense. I LOVE Cate Blanchet as Hela.
Also this scene sets up hela as an immediate threat, it explicitly shows Odin claiming Loki as his son, but I would have merged in the scene of the brothers talking to hela when she first arrived.
My feeling was that Odin raised Loki to appreciate what Asgard had to offer so that when he came into his inheritance to rule Jotunheim, he would make it a better place. I think he turned blue in the film where he discovers his history, but I didn't see a blue version of him in _Loki_ season 1.
@@sandal_thong8631 Lmao! You're delulu. Loki was STOLEN so his home planet would never have another King. Odin STOLE EVERY SOURCE OF POWER THAT HE GOT HIS GRUBBY HANDS ON. What's your point about Loki turning blue? That only happens at certain points. You clearly don't understand these characters.
Out in the countryside overlooking the ocean, Hela unable to break through until Odin had actually died and his essence dispersed, was a much better scene than a city alleyway. More historically Viking like.
So this is the Hela crushing Mjolnir scene we saw on the trailer but not included (or the setting changed, greenery instead of street alley) on the theatrical version
the finished version is much better. Odin deserved a better and more dignified death. The more I rewatch this movie in the shadow of Love and Thunder the more I realize that the editors saved Ragnarok from Taika's worst instincts
I think this was better scene than what we got in the film? I’ve seen other versions including variation on this one but Odin dies like in the film but in the ally.
The scene we got was still cool and awesome but this delated scene hits hard but still the part where Odin died in the og scene was still… just heartwarming
The theatrical version we got was better. This scene was originally in the trailers, I remember seeing Hela in a city ally way and was always confused when she was in a grassy field instead. But having a worthy send off for a character like Odin dying in New Asgard and Hela's introduction being released from prison after his death made more sense.

I still think the hammer breaking was pretty stupid
Anthony Hopkins is so fucking amazing, what an epic performance!
I'm glad they had this scene redone. The whole thing didn't feel right.
Ikr
I Could Cry If This Was The Scene..
This scene makes more sense but I felt like they didn't want Odin to be killed but rather accept his own death peacefully
Mixed about this one🤔 glad they went with the theater version!
@@cynicaldrummer286 yeah... Plus i think odin would survive that... Leading to him helping thor defeat hela... Asgard defending the space stone from thanos
Sir Anthony looks like his character Diego Dela Vega in The Mask of Zorro during his imprisonment scene 😊
Hela : You took everything from me Odin : I don't even know you
You will
Yep, End Games’s Wanda response.
Same as villain in the Marvels
Oh, the good old days. I feel they're gone forever.
I prefer this scene. It’s touching to see Odin’s different connections to each son.
this scene sucks
Exactly, he finally specifically told Loki he was his son, which would have tied into Loki referral to himself in Infinity War as Loki "ODINson"
He pointed out all the bad qualities of Loki. Instead of accepting and empowering Loki, Odin continues to treat him like a second-class child. "MY SON" feels more like a term of control rather than love.
@@blusafe1I find it as Odin apologizing to Loki. To be fair, Loki caused a lot of shit for Odin and Asgard, so if he throws a few digs here and there then yeah it’s warranted. But he’s basically saying that he didn’t do enough to raise him right, so that’s why he said he failed them.
There is also another deleted scene in which Strange points Thor where to find Odin on a New York map
I much prefer the scene we got in the movie. Felt like that gave Odin more of a closure to his character.
Never knew this existed, but now seeing it reminds of of the first teaser trailer i seen of ragnarok. Hella breaking thors hammer in a alleyway, i remember seeing that clip and was so confused when it was somewhere else.
3:54 when I put the smallest graphics in the game
Nice editing 💯
I just got this randomly recommended

Im so used to see her in bright colored hair, but she is scary attractive in her black loose down hair....
This was just way better than the scene in Norway (or wherever it was). It fit the characters better, the location made more sense, and the characterizations were more consistent. It only needed some refining and a little more editing.
You took everything from me ,All marvel villains in a nutshell
Cate looked spectacular in that outfit
It's a bit different here. More revealing and tighter. They toned it down a bit.
@@ValleyRC she probably looks great out of it as well. Hehe
@@Daymond1973 that part they are probably keeping for their personal enjoyment... Nudge nudge, know what I mean?
Thank god they didn't go with this one. Despite all the other good things in it, Odin came of as a weakling and would diminish what's seen as his power with him getting to do very little.
This scene was deleted because it doesn't make sense for the following reasons:
1-Hela couldn't escape her banishment while Odin is still alive since it was his life that was keeping her locked away in the first place.
2-Hela couldn't possibly kill Odin because he's far more powerful than her considering he defeated her when she was at full power when he banished her. In fact, Odin was the only being aside from Surtur who can defeat Hela at all
Didn't Odin gave away his strength and power to Thor in this deleted scene right before Hela get to him?
Onin couldn’t stop her so he had to seal her
The biggest reason this scene was deleted was because one of the most powerful beings in the known universe is now an insane, dirty street urchin collecting junk. It's on the record they wanted a more dignified ending for Odin.
Yep and this version is bad. That's just a fact
@@SosukeAizen7594.Odin would beat her.
This version was so much better than what we got in the end. Not only did it convey the gravity of Ragnarok's coming, but how brutal Hela actually is.
the one in the movie is more beautiful to watch, but for some reason I find this version more appropriate, more real-life gritty, because often its when we / someone we know hit rock bottom that they realize the life lessons and appreciate their blessings. you can see a sampling of these with the wonderfully acted scenes between Chris, Tom and Sir Anthony. being in a stinky alley doesn't mask the fact that in the end, Odin becomes human and fully realizes what it's like, why both Thor and Loki has affinity for Midgard. remember Odin was so condescending of humans in Thor2, I'm pretty sure there were more Odin scenes as an old man around Earth, would've loved to have seen that so that he would at least have a character arc.
This version shows how much more of a threat hela is (with HOW MUCH she is shown already in the final version with destroying mjolnir) than the final version, simply because she barely spoke any word and act menacingly
The final ver could've done the same by removing the exchange between thor and hela when she catched mjolnir
Odin's red jacket and endgame's thor's red jacket proves that he is odinson.
I wish we got this scene. It just shows how sad Odin could fall when thrown into the same position as Thor did in Movie 1.
Love the Kirby Balls in Hela's portal.
YES! The Kirby crackle!
A euphemism?
" Your Lawless nature and the storms within you inherited from me." Wow, what a line from Odin to Loki.
I notice the "love and thunder" posters in the background like the subtitle for the next Thor film.
Where??
Ayush_Y Gaming
1:53
The posters say “Thunder Love”.
This scene was better than what we received in the movie. It makes everything more understandable
They put a lot of effort into this. I'm surprised it's only just come out
The trailer uses this scene of Hela
Hopkins seems a lot like he's phoning it in :/
@@TheArcher101He earned the break, bro. Even his version of phoning it in, is spectacular, in my opinion.
@@txmetalhead82xk Hopkins was his usual good when he was Loki's disguise and Thor's visions - but when Odin was just himself, it felt really flat tbh
This scene is way better than what we got
Nahhh😂
Some of it is
So THIS is the scene they used in the teaser trailer! Very interesting, also judging from how polished the effect were in the trailer they had it in consideration until the very end, or maybe they used it as decoy, something like they did in the Infinity War trailer. Either way, it’s cool to see an alternative version, this definitely has a few elements that I prefer over the final one
I love how they choose to do it however I wish they could have kept in the part about how Loki was his son down to his fire inside of him.
At 1:52 you can see the posters say “thunder love” teasing Thor: Love and Thunder
Are u telling me that u commented this just 38 minutes before I saw it? You beat me by 38 minutes? Damn lol
Most people noticed that m8
This is why i love thor franchise sm. Top tier actors. They shouldve put this in
This scene would’ve been great in the movie, but it would’ve heavily altered Thor’s visions of Odin when he was fighting the hulk and his melee with Hela. Instead of a groomed, earthly Odin found on Norway (ironically where Norse mythology traces back to btw) we would’ve had a broken, deranged man gratuitously advising Thor to awaken his true power from within.
May I ask why that is ironic
no reply lol
Are you Thor, the god of hammers?
@@Channel2491 yeah thats not irony as much as it was poetic and was certainly intentional.
I can see why they cut it. Also though - Cate was incredible for this role. Wish Hela was a longer storyline we could track
2:40 Look at the back on the wall the posters say “Thunder love” I don’t know if it was a Easter egg to the next movie which is Love and Thunder but it’s pretty cool
There's also a graffiti tag "GOR" so probably.
Why is it that the deleted scenes are always better than what they put in the movies??!!😮😮
3:34 actually this shot was on the trailer
Yeah, then the replaced it with the field instead
WHY WOULD THEY NOT USE THIS?? THIS WAS AMAZING 😭😭😭🔥
That transition from civilian clothing to their superhero attire when hela arrived was awesome.
i can see why this wasn't used since it would be a plot hole,
Dr. Strange is in the area, it also would be in humane for strange not to appear. since he could detect them.
This is the Marvel universe, when every hero had is own problems.
I prefer the actual scene - it's more dignified and solemn - but I really like the dialogue between Odin and Hela
Honestly, both versions (this deleted one and the fonal one, from the film) are great in their on way.
Nah thats an Atlanta alley
He means the Norway version was greenscreened; they weren't really sitting on a cliff.
No shit this scene wasn't finished, why work on something you aren't going to use
thank god this is a deleted scene because the CGI in this scene is melting my brain
If nothing else, Hela is still a smokeshow.
So interesting how they reused some of this footage and put it into the actual scene in the movie- a scene which was much better
I think I prefer this version of it all. Great stuff from all the actors.
Hela coming through the portal looking like a whole snack
Even in this version, Odin was like "Nah, your problem now, peaceee"
I remember that this was the original scene where Hela was supposed to be revealed.
There's a reason it's such a long deleted scene.
I wish they shot this properly and without such awkward pacing and framing.
What really irked me about this scene was the part where Odin explains to Loki that he inherited certain traits from him even though Loki is not Asgardian but a Frost Giant's child. This scene is just as powerful as the one we got in the movie - but Odin never transferred his power to Thor in that scene like in this one, it would have made more sense. I LOVE Cate Blanchet as Hela.
I’m adopted and there are certain mannerisms and attitudes I got from my adoptive parents.
Also this scene sets up hela as an immediate threat, it explicitly shows Odin claiming Loki as his son, but I would have merged in the scene of the brothers talking to hela when she first arrived.
One can "inherit" traits by simple observation and admiration.
The more I rewatch this movie in the shadow of Love and Thunder the more I realize that the editors saved Ragnarok from Taika's worst instincts
i may prefer the final version but his words to loki here is more impactful
I think this was better scene than what we got in the film? I’ve seen other versions including variation on this one but Odin dies like in the film but in the ally.
The scene we got was still cool and awesome but this delated scene hits hard but still the part where Odin died in the og scene was still… just heartwarming
This version of Hela destroying Thor’s hammer was the original scene shown on the trailer
0:42 you can see loki's expression being called his son even that he dumped his father
3:07 - 3:15 Whoa, Cate Blanchett just completely slipped into her real, Australian accent there.
The theatrical version we got was better. This scene was originally in the trailers, I remember seeing Hela in a city ally way and was always confused when she was in a grassy field instead. But having a worthy send off for a character like Odin dying in New Asgard and Hela's introduction being released from prison after his death made more sense.
Oh man. I love this so much. I do love the movie version, but this is great too.
Have to admit, this is one of the only times ever when I agree that a cut scene is - just - better - than the actual scene from the film.
