If only your website had a filter using this size guide as selectable options to narrow down chair selections. I've been struggling to find a chair for myself. 5'10, 260 2xl
At 6'5" but slim, the Leap v2 supports me very well while the Fern actually pushes my shoulders forward with its rounded top edge. A size C Aeron is too wide to be truly comfortable, and the posturefit system supports the wrong places for my back. Looking for chair info is hard because both chair brands and reviewers tend to assume big and tall go together.
Have you looked into the Steelcase Gesture? People seem to either love it or hate it and no in between, but it's usually suitable for taller people. The main complaint I see about it online is that the seat cushion is not thick enough, but if you're very slim that might not be an issue, so it might be a perfect chair for your build.
It'd be great if someone could make a rtings style website where you can compare these things if people could agree on a system like you suggest with height and t-shirt size.
Just ordered a Leap V2 from you all thanks to your sizing guide. I'm 6'2" and have been using ill-fitting OfficeMax chairs my whole life. My Leap hasn't shipped yet but I'm really hoping it's just what the doctor ordered!
I'm 6'4" 240lb and just want a chair comfortable for my neck and shoulders that has adjustable arms. Only chair I ever found I liked was the serta Hensley but the foam padding wears out after a year.
Thank you for this video and this new system you've designed. By any chance will you be gradually going through your catalog adding this size guide to the chairs you sell? I'm not a huge fan of the Humanscale chair I bought awhile ago. I'd like to know how the Humanscale chair sits on your system before I buy a new chair, as then I can work with that information to see what chairs to research.
I'm a cartilage-challenged former 6'0. I carry 175 lbs in winter, down to 165 by early May. I wear a medium or large sport shirt, and my inseam is ~33 inches. I find that just about any chair fits me reasonably well, but I make a point of never spending over $100 or so on a chair I haven't actually tried. Around that $100 mark, a chair that doesn't work for me day-to-day is still fine for a quick sit or for a guest whose exact needs are unknown.
I'll add, I'm about 5'7-5'8 and the Embody's lowest height is still just a bit too high for me. In order to make it work I had to get a 3/4 inch-high foot mat. I really wish it went just a bit lower.
At 6 feet, I didn't think I needed to concern myself with the minimum height of chairs, but I do. I bought a La-Z-Boy office chair and my feet couldn't touch the floor at the lowest setting.
A big thing heavier people have to worry about is bottoming out the cushion. Someone 170 lb may not bottom out a Leap cushion, but someone 250 lb may easily bottom out the cushion.
As someone who owns an old model Sihoo chair with a mostly metal seat, It's the reason I bought it. I can add the cushions and paddings without ruining the chair. And I'm a cheapass that uses those memory foam mats on my chair.😅
I have the Fern and in terms of dimensions the only issue I have is its seat. At 6'4" I have to slide it all the way to the front to have it 2-3 fingers behind my legs. But when I do that, I lterally sit on the edge. I wish it had at least a slight waterfall at the back of the seat.
The really unfortunate thing is there’s no real nice chairs that will fit us larger individuals like the ones that EVERYONE reviews; your Herman Millers, Hayworths, Steelcase, etc.
Agreed. I like the premise of this video, but all 3 highlighted chairs hit varying points of the middle ranges. Where's the chair that claims it supports 300-400lbs but can actually fit someone over 250lbs?
I always thought the max weight rating of a chair was a bit of marketing bs. I'm a 6'3" 295lb guy who's struggling to find a chair that fits me. I must have bought and returned about 6 by now. Do you have a video dedicated to people like us? I really like the Hon Ignition 2.0 Big & Tall version, but all the negative reviews scare me.
I am almost 6'2" with a very slim build. What are ideal fitting chairs I should consider? I tried the Herman Miller Size B and I find my legs hang over the edge too far. The sales person said the HM size C is for much heavier people and would be too wide. What is the downside of too wide if the arms are adjustable?
I'm 6'2 and slim as well and I found that the size C didn't support my upper back enough. The Leap V2 felt like that as well. I'd honestly recommend the Embody. Most recently (over the last three months) I've had an Embody Gaming and a Gesture at the same time. I knew after about 30 minutes that the Gesture was going back. The seat was horrible and very uncomfortable. It took a solid week, week and a half to get the Embody dialed in, but once I did, it's been fantastic!
Been struggling for months researching a great chair that would suit me at 6"7. Anyone got any advice or recommendations? I've watched the video but still struggling. Also around 240lbs
Hi @BTODtv, which of those options best fits short users? Based on your sizing recommendations, would it be the Leap? Do you have sizing recommendations for other popular high end chairs besides the 3 in the video?
The Fern is used in the locker rooms of pro athletes like the Atlanta Hawks, Tennessee Titans, and the Colorado Buffalo football team. I think it'll do just fine with big people.
I will never believe the Leap's cushion can withstand 400lbs. You can tell it bottoms out for heavier folks. I'm 5'10" ~260lbs and the gaming embody fits me alright. Only issue I have with it is it tends to cause some tension in my achilles tendons when sitting.
I had a Leap V2 about five-six years ago when I weighed 140-150 pounds and it bottomed out on me within an hour lol. I'm 6'2 (about 180 pounds now) and I absolutely love my Gaming Embody! It took almost two weeks to get it dialed in, but once I did it's been great
@@btodtv oh man it's so hard to decide especially in the UK were there are no showrooms lol. It's on sale right now here for £790 without, which is still really expensive to "try" lol. My current chair is way cheaper and crap but the lumbar is too aggressive. Makes me want to get the Fern without. Thank you for the reply (though it's made it harder to decide in some ways too lol)
Thanks for sharing such detailed insights! I did a deep dive on the Aeron vs. Leap on my channel recently, and it’s cool to see where our views match up.
@@btodtv The point of that little joke was that we non-americans feel kind of left out here and it would be enough to add a small print kg and cm next to or under those american units. Yes, I have converted values for myself to find what would suit me best according to you and I found that helpful too. I'm just leaving a feedback that adding a small print kg and cm units would make it more convenient for people from outside of US.
For large and tall people a very good choice is Anda Seat Kaiser 4 XL. I am 191 cm and 110 kg (6'3 and 250 lbs) and for me it is very comfortable. Popular mesh office chairs don't work for me.
Ergonomics of this chair is joke... I have Anda Kaiser 3 and 4 XL (both) and tilting mechanism and lumbar support is just a joke... not comfortable at all.
@@janpichrt The word ergonomic is a trendy but in my opinion overrated word. In this case, ergonomic chairs do not work for me. Instead of idealized lumbar support, I prefer a large comfortable seat and high armrests. Lumbar support is ok for me in this chair. @@KielD1 i agree with you. i had herman miler embody, and aeron both bought new, and leap v2. and vastly prefered the secretlabs titan, the whole point of ergonomics is finding something comfortable for YOU. comfort is subjective, there is no right or wrong, the fact people just hate on all gaming chairs because its popular to do so because they own $2000 chairs and act like gaming chairs are unusable, just show they have never sat in a high end one. i agree the cheap no name gaming chairs suck, but andaSeat and secretlabs are really good once they break in
T-shirt sizing is a great way to make it relatable. It would be amazing if you made a tier video for 2-3x. I'm 280 lbs size 2X and the Karman fits me well. The arms go wider than the seat and forward enough. The bouncy recline feels great.
