I have metal in my spine from shoulder to waist from scoliosis surgery. The only chair I've found that I've liked in the last 10 years is a plastic outdoor lawnchair. Wish i had seen this video 6 days ago when it released! Thanks for the informative review!
Have had my embody gaming chair for two weeks now and love it. Got the atlas headrest a few days ago, feels unnecessary to be honest. I only engage with it when I'm reclined, which to be fair it does help with the deeper recline being comfortable.
I can’t really relate to these reviews because you guys are so tall but I appreciate the content. Maybe some perspectives from people in the low to mid 5ft range would be nice
Same! I'm definitely interested in a re-rate on the chairs that they don't fit in ("a little small too small"). A request for an updated petite chair ranking! :) 4'11" - 5'5"
I had the steelcase gesture with headrest, but the headrest could never be adjusted to the right spot, because my torso is so short that i need to adjust the headrest to the lowest part to the point that i need to make the headrest rotate forward, and then it is now too forward 😢
Also, i think it started with the gesture chair, but i think it put a lot of pressure on my balls to the point that they started to hurt and go numb. I think i lead forward a lot and the lumbar also pushes my lower back forward? I am not sure...........
I would really like you to take a Herman Miller Embody, A Haworth Fern, an Anthros chair, put all 3 of them side by side, and do a test where you are sitting up but you only sit with the back of your heels on the floor. I am a double below the knee amputee and when I wear my prosthetics without going into excruciating detail I cannot articulate those feet to do anything but that with any degree of comfort. As a result I find that when I am sitting in a chair I am putting more pressure on my sitting bones. So the seat takes a higher degree of importance than a lot of other things that other buyers might be looking at. I also put a lot more strain on my armrests when getting up out of my chair than most other people will because I physically need to push myself up and then onto my feet, so the durability of armrests is important to me. Most able bodied people are only putting about 60% of their body weight under peak load on their armrests when moving from a seated to standing position. I have lift myself up by pressing down on the armrests until my feet have rotated to an angle where they are touching the floor. That means I am putting about 220lbs of weight onto those arm rests everytime I get up. Things I have heard : The regular embody has too thin of a seat pad and can feel it / its uncomfortable. The gaming Embody has this addressed a little better. The Anthros chair I have heard negative things about their overall build quality and that when you compare them to Steelcase, Herman Miller and Haworth the chair seems cheap / over priced for the build quality and materials used. However their seat might be the best in the game. Haworth - Seems to be nothing but overall positive reviews but I haven't seen many enough of them discussed other than in chair reviews, without there being negative comments or many harsh criticisms out there Which of those 3 has the best of all of those requirements?
From my own experience with HM Embody gaming version - armrests hold fine for normal usage, but if you lift almost all your weight on them, they tend to move out of your fixed position. I like sitting in a cross-legged position sometimes, and when I try to adjust my position on the chair, leaning very heavily on one armrest, it jumps down by one position. My very old crappy gaming chair could take me leaning fully on armrests much better... funnily enough, but it was its only bonus. Embody has been really comfortable for me in every other aspect.
Hello sir, can you tell us what is your top 3 chairs for office/gaming. I need to buy one and im thinking of an Miller embody (gaming) or an Haworth Fern. Any advice?
Notice how all of the gaming chairs that are ranked highly do not use a stupid racing seat design. And yet I see plenty of people calling the Secretcrap Titan the most comfortable chair ever, even though it's not even the best gaming chair, let alone the best chair.
Well guess what, i returned a herman miller embody, aeron and leap v2 and now have a titan secret lab and more comfortable then ever LOL. Comfort is so subjective there is no wrong or right .
@@SnxgurWhat didn't you like about the Leap V2? I have a leatherette Secretlab Titan that I bought over a decade ago that I need to replace. It definitely has not held up over time The leatherette peeled off, and there's a gash in the seat where I often place my foot under me while sitting. And as many people still complain, the seat was and is too hard. I'm thinking of replacing it with either a used Leap V2 or the Haworth Soji. But as I use my chair for gaming and watching tv, I would miss the headrest (pillow) and the deep recline.
@@Noneya5555 Secret Lab has revised its leather and fabric options and holds up way better than it used to. I recommend trying the Titan Evo (2022) if you're previous Secret Lab chair was a good fit and comfort-wise.
@@Smithson52 Thanks for the info. I actually do like the features of the Titan. If I was to get one, I would go with the fabric, as the leatherette was chair is too hot. As for the seat comfort, I remember when I first got it, how hard it was. It has soften over time, but not by much. I think it was more than I acclimated myself to 5he firmness. Do you know if the seat cushion Secretlab currently uses has gotten any softer? I've read comments by recent customers complain about the seat being too hard, but I wonder if the hardness now is the same as it was when I got mine.
The Embody product department is missing a huge market opportunity by not introducing a version with a taller back, branded as the "Embody Gaming Pinnacle" or something similar. Many users find that the current Embody model doesn't fit them because the back isn't high enough. A taller-back version would not only solve this issue but also command a premium price, driving more chair sales. The same goes for the Fern model. Calling it "Fern Summit" or a similar name would resonate well. Even shorter gamers would appreciate a taller chair, giving them the feeling of being on their gaming throne.
Thumbs up for the Chairiffs! After hitting my head on the hard plastic back frame of the Fern a number of times, I see why they offer a headrest option even though it's not very good. I tried adding about an inch and a half of foam to my Embody seat, and it helped, but the backrest is just not very comfortable for me. I use my Lamia the most. I'm still waiting for my endgame chair to be made.
What's the best chair for gaming and tv watching - ie, one with a headrest - for $500 or less? BTW, not interested in the Hbada E3, as I've read and seen too many complaints with the build quality, and questions concerning durability. According to reviews and complaints, the E3 uses low-quality materials, wobbles too much, the footrest comes out when pushing the chair, and the lumbar support doesn't stay in place. Amazon warns that the E3 is a frequently returned item.
I tried the embody but my right leg went numb and had some serious pain. Followed all the instructions for optimal seating arrangement. Would not recommend for anyone who's 192 centimeters and weighing 91 KGs or around that ballpark. No clue on what chair to buy now.
Nice list, do you have a recommendation for EU buyers? We only got standard steelcase and haworth models. No options like digital knit. HM embody regular costs around €1300 here (which is my budget) the gaming embody is €1830. Should I go with the regular embody? I’m 5’9
I'm 5'8 from EU and got a regular Embody about half a year ago. Can highly recommend, the newer Embody models have the same padding on the seat, so from my understanding the difference to the Gaming version is minimal. Other than aesthetics I believe its only some small added padding in the lower back, which I can't say I am missing. There is an adjustment period to the sacral support where its uncomfortable, but after a week or two of adjusting its now the most comfortable chair I ever used. It does "force" you into good posture with how the backrest is designed, so be aware that that is what you are signing up for, its hardly a gaming chair that you can slouch in. If ergonomic sitting is what you are looking for though, this is a massive upside of course, and it has helped me correct my posture and almost evaporate my back pain with that, which is well worth the money.
Guys, Im 6ft8, just under 400lbs and physically disabled with lower limb mobility issues. Can you recommend a suitable chair for me I can find in the UK?
My favorite chair for the last six years has been the full mesh WorkPro 1000. Other than the hard arm rests (for my boney elbows I use supplemental pads), it's a fantastic chair and a great value. I just bought a Hyken chair from Staples to use a secondary. Trouble is, Staples can't seem to get it to me. Three delivery delays so far.
Do you have any recommendations for a chair I can easily kneel on (I'm 6' btw)? I used to do my office work on the floor sitting in all sorts of positions. Recently I got an height ajustable desk to stand from time to time and I don't want to lose the freedom of positions siting on the floor offers.
I’m so glad I got a Leap V2 for less than $300 used but it was basically brand new. Most comfortable chair I’ve ever sat in and it’s ruined all other chairs

I only got $100 budget for a chair and I don’t wanna get a gaming chair or sit on a dining chair do you think the noblewell ergonomic chair on Amazon is fine for $100?
If you can push another 30, Amazon has a Ticova for 130 right now(with a $40 coupon, look for the 169 listing). Otherwise it's best to save up. You really won't find much worth it under $100. Better to sit on that dining chair and save up. Been using mine for about a year and a half, it's held up really well for the price. Main issue I have is the lack of seat recline. Pretty much have the back locked at a comfortable position at all times. Whenever I'm done with it being "good enough" a proper seat tilt will probably be on my list for the next chair.
Could you guys do a video really explaining the different recline mechanisms in high end chairs and how they differ? I recently bought a Steelcase Gesture and it does recline a lot less than I expected compared to my cheap 10 year old Amazon no name mesh chair. Also, how does the Mirra 2 compare to the Aeron and Embody regarding recline? Are they the same or is the Mirra's slightly worse like you said for the Sayl in this video?
The Mirra2 has the Harmonic Tilt mechanism from Herman Miller. The Aeron and Embody also have the Mirra2 mechanism. I think it is the best feature on the Mirra2. -Ryan
One thing I don't see much is a tierlist or good recommendations for people under 5 ft. A few of my family are 4'10", 4'9", and their feet always dangle when seated in the "ergonomic" manner. Perhaps the stool versions are better?
It's funny that he says he doesn't fit in the Secret Lab Titan Evo when it's one of the few chairs that comes in three different sizes to accommodate different body sizes. It's not the chair's fault you reviewed the wrong size.
It comes in 3 different sizes because it’s not adjustable enough to accommodate most people. And even with the 3 sizes, you will have people that don’t fit any of them, like me. The regular size has a seat that is too deep for me. The small sized chair is too small for me in general. It’s made for someone up to 5’7”. I am 5’9”. And i obviously can’t use the big version if the regulars seat is too big. -Ryan
As someone who really doesn't like mesh backed chairs it's a shame that only mesh backed chairs are even decent now a days. At least the near unusuable mesh bottom chairs haven't completely taken over the market as well, it means there is a chance I'll finally be able to replace my early 2000s office chair, it might just require 5 more years of looking (yes I've been looking on and off since 2019, including going to stores that only sell chairs office chairs etc).
Try Fractal Refine mesh seat, its softer. Tested both Refine and Ergohuman Gen2, and Egohuman has nothing on it. Its not A, it has even weaker lumbar support for big guys, You are just selling Egohuman chairs thus ranking it higher than chairs you don't sell, simple as that.
No, I ranked the Ergohuman LE9ERG Gen2 A because I like it. I've ranked plenty of chairs, including the Aeron Classic, the Ergohuman Gen1 mesh chair, BTOD Akir, etc., lower because I didn't love them. Oddly enough we also sell (or sold) those three examples I just gave you. Try harder, because the whole we sell it and that's why we rank it where we do narrative is tired. Just be honest and say "I don't agree with your pick because of XYZ" -Greg
That's dedication! to test so many chair for us. I found the best chair are my bed. Gaming on my bed on SAIJI portable table. I can sit cross legs like meditation or lying down with half keyboard and mouse.
Not necessarily true. The Aeron remastered is S tier for me, even without the Atlas headrest, which I did buy, but sent it back because it didn't add much to the overall comfort.
0:26 says it has the best head rest out of all the high end chairs. Saw the JayzTwoCents video on how he regret buying the gesture because of the headrest. Also how squeaky those chairs are. 24:45 Shits on sihoo, a 150$ chair coz its popular. The 2 way adjustable backrest is uncomfortable. U guys might be selling and reviewing chairs but i think u guys are not reliable source of information for chairs.
High end office chairs are great for ergonomics and tasking, but terrible for gaming, deep reclining, lounging and rocking. Similarly, gaming chairs are great for gaming, as well as for deep reclining, rocking and lounging, but terrible for ergonomics, and mediocre at best - and ugly - for tasking. Gaming chair makers need to lose the stupid racing car designs (and Secretlab with the bench-hard backs and seats? Just stop it). On the other hand, office chair makers need to make gaming chairs with larger seats, arm rests that don't wobble, and that hold all 4D positions, good headrests, and chairs that privide deep recline, lounging and rocking (tilt lock optional). And they both need to do these things at an affordable price. There, I fixed the problem. You're welcome. 😁
Gaming chairs have the lowest end mechanisms and therefore the worst recline and rocking. Secret Lab chairs have the best recline of the racers and their mech is just a basic knee tilt mech you’d find on a $300 conference room chair. One of the biggest misconceptions with ergonomic chairs is that they are only designed for tasking when they are far better for gaming as well. -Ryan
@btodtv Didn't know that; thanks for the info. I'm currently searching for a chair to replace my 10+ year-old Secretlab Titan ganing chair. What chair that you sell would you suggest for either $500, or $1k and below. I'm about your height and weight. I'd prefer a chair with a good headrest (either stock, or that can accommodate an aftermarket one), good recline, armrests that aren't easily moved out of position, with a softer seat than the Titan's, and a decent recline for watching videos
it's overal garbage list, they put chairs with shit build quality and ergonomics into higher tiers just because they like some one gimmick on them, it's a "personal opinion" list and no one should pick a chair for himself based on it

There really aren't great options for people that short. It's best to add a footrest to bring the floor up to their feet -Greg
What about the Herman miller embody office chair?
I am still waiting a review on the Cougar Argo One.
Just be honest and say "I don't agree with your pick because of XYZ"

Just found my new Leap V2 for $6.99 at a thrift store last night. I feel like I got away with robbery!
Dang, crazy price! -Greg
The leap v2 in this video has a headrest. Where did you get the headrest from?
It comes pre-installed with the chair directly from Steelcase's factory.
I don't think it can be retrofitted.
Atlas headerst for leap v2 is comming...
@@toncek6365Damn, that's going to be killer.
I’m having a hard time deciding. Don’t want a total junk chair but 2k for chairs damn man.
I wonder where you would put the hbada e3?
I purchased a headrest for my embody, it not as harsh now.
That doesn't sound very promising tbh, what issues have you been having?
The leap needs more of a waterfall front on the seat. It digs into the back of my legs.
Do you have a new Leap or a refurbished Leap? -Ryan
@@btodtv It's not refurbished, but I've used it for years.
What about the Lamia?
anything without a headrest is F tier for me.
You can tell they don't game for long hours. You need the headrest!
Neck busters😅
Where's the fractal refine in this?
Where's the E?
Why would there be an E? That's not how grades work in 'Murica.
For sure would to be good to see a video for the 300lb people
9:21 why is the seat so hard?
That's dedication! to test so many chair for us.
I found the best chair are my bed. Gaming on my bed on SAIJI portable table. I can sit cross legs like meditation or lying down with half keyboard and mouse.
No headrest means it can’t be S tier. Not even in the running to be.
I'd prefer a chair with a good headrest (either stock, or that can accommodate an aftermarket one), good recline, armrests that aren't easily moved out of position, with a softer seat than the Titan's, and a decent recline for watching videos
useless without prices attached
Gotta do a little leg work yourself
@@ahastar1141 well after doing that i found out most of this stuff isnt even available in my region
it's overal garbage list, they put chairs with shit build quality and ergonomics into higher tiers just because they like some one gimmick on them, it's a "personal opinion" list and no one should pick a chair for himself based on it
@@huiAPPOAJ the market is so hard to see through at these lists at least give me an idea of where to start.
Isn't this a comfort list???
First.
List invalidated due to no Humanscale Freedom. Hated my Fern, tolerated my Embody, but kept my Leap and my Freedom. Very happy with the Freedom and its headrest.
Lol k
We can't fit them all in 😆 I personally would rank the Freedom with headrest A tier - Robert
I have a secretlab and love it,, but im a big fan of tall back chairs so its perfect for my style
