Thanks Richard, I appreciate your comments and encouragement! As you would understand, I am very passionate about fishing, but it doesn't compare to my love for the one who made the fish. Jesus.
Roger....i wish I had a grandfather like you..i wouldn't expect anything more from my life! Live long and healthy .keep fishing .keep inspiring us .love from INDIA.
I love that you posted this even though no fish were landed. It's still a useful video, I learn something each video I watch, and enjoy watching them. Thanks Roger 👍
You're the fishing dad every one wish they had - passing on the knowledge. Thanks :). Also, joining you fishing, and "not" catching, but trying, is so much more educational than watching all the shows where pros pull in all those "fishes-of-a-lifetime" in supreme locations I'll never get to.
Roger your channel is awesome so relatable & calming to watch even when your catching donuts. Thankyou for producing content like this for your average every day Joe 👍
While Roger chasing the holy grail, mere mortal me taking notes for tailor fishing: Two hooks through butterflied mullet with wire leader = 40cm+ tailor dinner.
hi Roger , greetings from sunny Queensland , ?? you never seem to mention which beach you are fishing ,, it would help us weekend fishers heaps , cheers mate .
I do the same rig except i use circle hooks,if your where i think you are i normally go 15mins nth of there i always get port jacksons or rays there not many jews used to be good when the lake would flood out with dirty water
Great videos & lots of good info. I have only one negative. People who want to try fishing & catching worms need to know what beaches you are at. I know nobody wants to give away their spots but if you wanted to try worming you need to know what beach to go to as all beaches don’t have worms & some worms are very sensitive & the ones you show are virtually jumping out of the sand.
Hi Roger , great video mate nice spot there too ,, I’ve noticed catching mulloway they will often suck the bait off the hook , can feel the weight but the hook doesn’t set , they are worth the hours trying though , thanks again mate .
Mate, another good video, good content, very informative. Yeah, jewie fishing can be very quiet at times. Called the 'hundred hour fish' for good reason i suppose. I take a spare rod and if it is quiet, i chuck out a 4 or 5" paddle tail soft plastic and bounce it slowly across the gutters. It whiles away the time and another way of getting a jewie, flattie etc. Cheers 😀
Hey Roger, I just saw this. Don’t know if this is a superstition or factual, but it’s something that may have helped. When we are fishing Maloway at night we don’t show torches definitely don’t show them towards the sea. I’m thinking your camera light would not have helped and your head to bobbing around May not have either. Also, a trick we use when butterflying the mullet is pin a slice of squid in between
I have caught quite a few good jews off the beach on fresh yakka fillets also tried the live yakkas off the beach and caught everything but a jews they can be long nights fishing for jewfish.
Hello Mr Roger I’m watching your old videos. For mounting with squid with both hooks. Is the bottom line with lead longer or shorter than the bottom line with the hook? How much is left in general? Thank you🙂👍🙋♂️
Thanks for your videos really enjoyed watching what you do I have tried your running sinker in the surf and it seems to tangle a lot is this something that you experience as well I would like to hear your thoughts thanks again
Hi Roger, awesome video as usual. Just gotta ask, where can we buy those shoes? 😋They seem to be more successful at catching fish than rod/reel and fresh bait... 😝 PS. same result here in Valsebay Cape Town with the Kob (Kabeljou). Tight lines Bru.
Great video Roger, smooth well explained.I use live yellow tail sometimes,I have lost many a Jew by early striking,I let them have a run then hopefully they have swallowed the bait then strike.what are your thoughts.
Hi Maccastime. Yes, good advice. I have let them run before and I have found that they can pick up the bait and run towards you. That happened one time when I caught a 16.5kg fish.
@@RogerOsborneFishing would love to see a video on your experiences with them. From everything I have read they seem superior as they effectively self set in the fish without the need to manually set the hook yourself. And 90% of the time they catch the fish in the corner of the mouth. Very rarely do you gut hook a fish. Maybe that takes some of the fun out of fishing for you though because they self set 😅
Hi Roger love your channel thankyou for sharing you information just wondering I'm looking to buy a new bech rod are you using the Shimano Maikuro II Spinning Rod 10ft 8-12kg or the Shimano Maikuro II Spinning Rod 10ft 6in 4-7kg
What should the length of the running sinker be? I find that the leader tangles with the sinker if its too long. Do you have any advice on how to avoid this?
Yes,, had a live yakka out off the northern end of Bondi, at the kids baths, just where the waves start to bump up, where they used to shark fish in old days. Clear water. My Yakka want mad so.. pick up the rod... mmmm, looking into water , mmmmm still going crazy, something was up... well.... 20 30m out , swimming along the wave line, was a bloody big shark, right under the surfers, lazy as. You could see the surfers legs dangling and the shark under... Took a while to convince everyone and some idiots not convinced... The Noah could not have been too hungry
G,day Roger, like your fishing tip. I’d like to subscribe to your channel but the cost is to expensive on a veteran pension. Keep up the good work, andreas
The Mullet's movement is restricted somewhat however it can take line because the sinker is not fixed. When the live bait is restricted and distressed, it attracts the attention of predatory fish

You are honestly the first person to show that you don’t always catch something, good on you thanks for the video

Thanks Allen. Glad you like them!
Is that near Lake Tabourie? If it is, please do a rock fishing video legend 🙏 love your work
After rigging the butterflied mullet, you had a scale on the hook.. I always check for that, it does make a difference..
Thanks Rusco
Nice fishing techniques. Can you be able to show how one can fish for yellow tail in beach fishing? Thanks.

Nice video mate! Love hearing all the info you share on your videos. Kudos to the cameraman too 👏
Thanks a lot!
Good fun thanks for taking the time to share, I love to use poddy mullet for bait but was under the impression they can only be used live
Thanks for watching!

Hello Mr Roger I’m watching your old videos.
For mounting with squid with both hooks.
Is the bottom line with lead longer or shorter than the bottom line with the hook?
How much is left in general?
Thank you🙂👍🙋♂️
The bottom line with the sinker is usually a bit longer, say 40cm, the leader with the hook say 25cm
Thank you Mr Osborne for the return and your valuable advice because I start and I am quite often mistaken in my montages for the sea. 🙋♂️🙂👍
Great video!!
Maybe a shovel nosed shark ?I have hooked on to these plenty of times and lost them with no damage to my rig .
Yes possibly
Thanks roger

Hi Roger, awesome video as usual. Just gotta ask, where can we buy those shoes? 😋They seem to be more successful at catching fish than rod/reel and fresh bait... 😝 PS. same result here in Valsebay Cape Town with the Kob (Kabeljou). Tight lines Bru.
Hi Bru, they are Shimano Avair shoes. You should be able to get them online.
Hey roger great video
Is that wing dang island in the back ground
No, it's Crampton Island.
Hi Rodger, I’m curious if your video light spooks the fish- understood you need it it for the video but would you recommend lights out normally?
Hi David, yes normally I never shine a light near the water.
Love it 🤙
Am really learning here mate 👏🏽👍🏼
Hey Roger Butterfly filleting would work great with fresh bait , possible to give a thawed frozen bait a try or would that just go too mushy ??
I think fresh would be best
Hay mate, love your work.
Is that Windang Beach?
It's Tabourie Beach
Hi Roger, is that near the mouth of Lake Conjola? We are leaving for there tomorrow from Victoria, we caught some good sized Flathead there last year,

@@RogerOsborneFishing Why not use circle hooks? Wouldn't they be better?
Hi Roger, wouldn't using circle hooks be more successful for the hook up?
Hi Don, I have never used them. I am sure that I will at some stage

Your crocs catch more fish than me.
Hi mate what size leader line are you using on both rods
What size and length F/carbon are you using
Thank you very much
Do you ever use circle hooks when chasing Mulloway from the beach?
Thats all i use
What should the length of the running sinker be? I find that the leader tangles with the sinker if its too long. Do you have any advice on how to avoid this?
I prefer shorter leaders. Normally about 35cm for me
Thanks for the tips. So you are not casting it very far?
Only about 40m

Can anyone help me find the model of fishing rod he’s got there? Asking for my dad.
Upya Roger!!

How does the mullet swim around and look natural with a weight on it? Unless it doesn’t matter
The Mullet's movement is restricted somewhat however it can take line because the sinker is not fixed. When the live bait is restricted and distressed, it attracts the attention of predatory fish

Great video. Would’ve been nice if you had actually landed some fish. But, like a wise man once said, “not every fisherman has a 100% hit rate.”
Very true!
How to blunt a knife = stab it in the sand.
I keep a small sharpening stone in my backpack so I'm pretty chilled
@@RogerOsborneFishing what knife is that? Looks like a mora
Squid bait hooking was unnecessarily complicated.
Not so hard. Just one way of hiding the body of the hook in the bait and exposing the barb
@@RogerOsborneFishing Much easier and way better ways to do it.
@@ebisu8824 like how? I do the same as Roger for octopus, which is even longer tentacle.
Looks like the jewie nicked your bait before actually swallowing it all the way.
33 MIN & NOTHING! U SAID MULLOWAY
i find cloe to a full moon or full moon a terrible time to fish. i never catch much.
OK Bill what area do you fish? I have caught multiple Mulloway at times around the full moon on Sydney's northern beaches.
