    Best beach fishing mentor on the planet. Beach fishing is relaxing, grounding, connection, awesome environment, ionic tide line zone, collecting sunshine and vitamin D3, movement, food providing, mentally challenging and can be exhilarating

      Just fyi you can fish where people are swimming you just need to be polite and not cast close to them, they can’t stop you and you can’t stop them. Communities work together, most people are polite enough to either stay away or create room if they know you’re there for your next meal and if they want to trade the space for your first catch that’s my tactic.

    16:00 Us sailors have a little rhyme to teach reading water.
    Brown, brown, run aground.
    White, white you just might.
    Green, green, nice and clean.
    Blue, blue, sail on through.
    I also look for the colour of the water to see where the wind is. When you look out over water, you can see dull dark-coloured areas, and you can see areas with lighter colour and they shimmer in the light. The dull is where the wind is disturbing the surface of the water, the shimmer is where the tops of the sine waves are neat, therefore no wind. The light will shimmer off neat water. To remember it, if you were to align a flat mirror with the sun, you can focus a beam in one direction (depending on the angle you choose), but if you have a disco mirror ball, you cannot focus the beam of light. It shines everywhere at once. The neat sine waves are the disco ball, therefore you see the shimmer no matter where you are standing.

    Another great vid. I have found over the years is like you experienced, that you get few bites/fish in places where you are battling strong sweep/drift/current. My theory is that fish don’t congregate in those areas because they need to expend too much energy to hold position and feed.

    • @RogerOsborneFishing
      @RogerOsborneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mark, I agree with you. I think the fish try to avoid the current except when they want to travel somewhere.

    • @markmay184
      @markmay184 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much the only odd fish I’ve been able to catch in those conditions has been the odd flathead. When I have “followed” my bait down the beach, with the current. A bit like fishing on the drift from a boat - just not as productive 😀

    G'day Roger, great vid as always. That little indentation on the first bream you caught looks a lot like Saddleback Syndrome, we see it semi regularly up here around South East QLD. Be interesting to see if you notice it on any other bream you catch in the area. As far as I know, no definite cause is known but usually its thought to be linked to sewerage or some sort of water pollution. Could be wrong and It may just be scarring like you said, but keep an eye out for it!

    Great video. Question - Do Salmon school in similar size group i.e. small fish school together and vica versa, or do they mix small fish with large fish?

    • @Johan-ex5yj
      @Johan-ex5yj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, Adrian.
      Yes, the Salmon school is usually a mix of small and large fish.
      What happens to me quite often; I’ll be fishing with bait (Pilchards), and be catching only small Salomon, because the small ones always get to the bait first. Then when I switch to a metal lure, and retrieve it nice and fast, I catch the biggest Salmon of the day in exactly the same spot!
      Note: This does not mean that you should only fish with a lure, it is always good to start with bait fishing to first attract the fish to your location, and to get them on the bite.

    Good idea to cast right on the edge of the sandbar. 👍
    Like near the bank of a river, the current should be weaker in that location.
    This is also most likely where the fish will be, because they don’t want to waste all their energy swimming against the current in the middle of the trough.

    • @RogerOsborneFishing

      I'm not sure. Sometimes the fish swim towards you and then fight more closer to the shore. Also, small fish are hard to detect if you catch them on a heavier line.
