Your wife, Roger, the cinematographer, does an absolutely marvellous job recording your adventures. To do this for hours on end, day after day, tells me she has the patience of Job. I reckon she needs more recognition. Once again, nice work.
« You never have a bad day on the beach, really ! » .. really ! Not for me. I live in the South of France. There are tons of beaches.. but. None so abundant as yours. Oh ! How lucky you are ! People say that to me, but don’t realize, I’m after fish.. not rays.. of sun. May I say , how enjoyable it is to watch your videos. You are a true knowledgeable gent, not bragging , or cocky. It’s real. Escapism. Thank you
Love your videos, as a result of this video i went out just off top of the tide at 430pm - i could see a deep green hole, so decided to take your advice and fish the tide. Landed a 58cm salmon - thanks for great advice
Hey Roger. Thanks . West coast of the US here , way north just south of Astoria. Boning up for the last month to get ready for surf fishing here. You are a true Gentleman and sport. Thank you for your smooth , cool expertise. Tony.
Fantastic video mate. Really enjoyed this relaxing on the couch 👍 you make fantastic content. And that microphone really wipes out all the wind but still catches all the action.
I very much appreciate your wisdom you share Roger, spot on mate, these days I'm a bit land-locked being 550 klicks inland from the drink but I'm a beach fisho from before the Way Back Machine existed in 1980's and watching your TH-cams is the next best thing to casting a line. If I do fish, I get up to Lake Eucumbene on the trout. We also use Cann River high and low tides and even fish in land locked empoundments turn on at these time because of the change in diurnal pressure. AlbyOneKenobi
Great session Roger…Down here in Victoria along the 90mile beach we sometime get the blue bottles but I have never seen them in the concentration as was on that beach. A friend of mine got stung once when grabbing a school shark I had fought into the beach. I think it must have been one of those whose potency was quite high as his performance was far more intense than yours….LOL. A great video again Roger, thanks for sharing.
Make up hooks on leaders and bait them at home placing them in the freezer and you've got a frozen hook set bait that survives the cast. Nil borax needed.
I agree sometimes ill wrap some "bait mate" around them holds them a bit longer .Just dont wrap it to tight, and i normally cut the tail off .They seem to cast a bit further when using them whole and they dont spin as muh when you are retreiving them.
Roger, please give Tony some pointers and tips, he needs to wait just a little bit before setting the hook. I am not a professional fisherman, I just started fishing about a month ago, but that’s what Ive learned so far: just wait a little bit to set the hook. I keep my line a little loose, once I feel the bite, I drop the tip, wait for fish to take up slack, then set the hook! I would estimate my hook up at 90% doing it this way! I still miss at times obviously, but im learning that it happens to all fishermen. I fish small lakes and ponds in southern eastern USA, so my technique might not work at a beach!
Big Kahawai like that you have to back up away from the water at the end of the fight and keep rod low or you will lose them just like that particularly with light line.
Tide depends on fish design and habits. In ny look at stripe bass vs bluefish. Stripers are designed to hunt and spawn. Bues designed to clean up bait.
In SA we would wrap our sardines (pilchards) with ghost cotton, to stop bait snatchers and hold the bait on the hook for longer. Have you ever considered that?
Roger have seen it time and again. Been fishing with mates, sat beside them, casted to same spot, I really don’t mean it but I always catch, catch, catch. Some Fishermen have just Got it.
Hi David, We eat Aussie Salmon often. My Neighbour who doesn't like fish has been converted with Salmon. When I did my Salmon video, we had some friends around and I cooked Salmon in beer batter for lunch. I asked them all to give the Salmon an honest rating out of 10. The lowest rating it received was an 8 out of 10.
Instead of expensive fish oils, I simply use WD40 to spray my lures - it's fish-oil-based, so same effect. I've also used cheap fish sauce from the Chinese food section in the supermarket - works very well.
Hiya Roger, thanks for another fun and informative session. Just a heads up, I watch some other fisherfolk who have had yt censorship issues over images of preparing live fish to take home. Keep teaching the dream my friend
Ex navy seal from nam told me lady’s stockings stop blue bottles and leaches and you can tie a bit rope to stockings put can tuna or fish in it and catch crabs as they get stuck in the stockings wow I said never would thought that
strange! according to DPI NSW website there is no size limit on Aus Salmon only a bag limit of 5... strange. However on the whiting Sand whiting is given a whopping 27cm! size minimum which is a big sand whiting... and king George is not mentioned on the site. This seems very strange. in victoria ALL whiting except KG have no size limit and the KG has a minimum of 27cm
Hi Roger, what month was this filmed? And in your opinion what are the best months to chase Salmon off the beach? Or can you catch them year round in NSW?
Not here in Western Australia. Year round near Esperance, but otherwise almost only during the spawning run from March to April. But they're bigger than East coast salmon. 60 cm and 5 kg is average.
Hi Roger, with your spin reels what sort of clean up do you do with them after a beach trip, i am an old Alvey man but i love my spin reels for Tailor fishing mate . Cheers Chris
Awesome is not the word we use when we are catching heaps of Salmon on the Beach 😂😂 They steal your Squid baits when Jewfishing and absolutely love worms, sometimes they are so thick we stop fishing for 20 minutes have a cup of tea and hope they leave the gutter.

Hi Roger, if you don't mind me asking. What beach is this? What area are you from?
Roger. I have noticed you rarely use cockles for bait. Why is that? I have found they are very hard to stay on the hooks.
Your wife, Roger, the cinematographer, does an absolutely marvellous job recording your adventures. To do this for hours on end, day after day, tells me she has the patience of Job. I reckon she needs more recognition.

When bleeding salmon ( Kahawai here in NZ) I whip them through each side of the tail base as well as gills..gives a fuller bleed out... lovely smoked.
or even shushimi with a bit of soy sauce and wasabi here in NZ
Love your videos, as a result of this video i went out just off top of the tide at 430pm - i could see a deep green hole, so decided to take your advice and fish the tide. Landed a 58cm salmon - thanks for great advice
Thanks Duncan, Nice work!
Awesome. Did you keep it? I like eating salmon fresh in beer batter. Delicious
Nice one Roger. Friday night a few beers and some fishing tips. Priceless. Cheers
Well done, Roger!
Cheers Rog! Good on ya Tony…🙌🎣
Nature's wonders, captured beautifully
Roger those small samon make the best sashimi. great video as usual, thanks mate.
Hey Roger. Thanks . West coast of the US here , way north just south of Astoria. Boning up for the last month to get ready for surf fishing here. You are a true Gentleman and sport. Thank you for your smooth , cool expertise. Tony.
Nice video. Isn't it 27cm legal length nsw for whiting?
Yeah mate it's 27cm in nsw.
I really really enjoyed it Roger I learnt heaps again
Another great fishing adventure Roger
Quite funny, Tony is rigging continuously while Roger is actually fishing.
Thank you from USA. Very informative and very enjoyable.
I can’t I love your videos so much keep posting and keep up the good work roger
Fantastic video mate. Really enjoyed this relaxing on the couch 👍 you make fantastic content. And that microphone really wipes out all the wind but still catches all the action.
Shoutout to the camera operator as well. Great tracking and movement. Top job all round 👍
Another outstanding video Roger, keepem coming Sir.
love the new stuff teaching

I must say, we don't seem to have beaches like that in Oregon. Beautiful, gentle waves and a steep beach.
Great session Roger…Down here in Victoria along the 90mile beach we sometime get the blue bottles but I have never seen them in the concentration as was on that beach. I plan where to fish and what to fish for around when I can fish. When is rarely the most flexible factor.
Salmon love that rough water but can be hard to fish your Borax mate didnt do so well i wouldnt use that on any bait i use but each to there own.
Just what I was thinking.
Make up hooks on leaders and bait them at home placing them in the freezer and you've got a frozen hook set bait that survives the cast. Nil borax needed.
Awesome session , very interesting
Glad you enjoyed it
I’ve always had better luck with unsalted pillies. They come off the hook easy, but you get more bites as they naturally release scent.
I agree sometimes ill wrap some "bait mate" around them holds them a bit longer .Just dont wrap it to tight, and i normally cut the tail off .They seem to cast a bit further when using them whole and they dont spin as muh when you are retreiving them.
I've just switched back to unsalted pilchards.the salted do stay on well but didn't seem to attract any bites
Great session Roger
Very nice tips
awesome video thanks for sharing!
Great video! God bless.
Awesome fishing guys 🤩👍
Thank you 👍

Hi Regular dude, all the best from Aus
A little concerned over Borax as a bait preserver as its toxic to consume. A better option would be a brined [salted] bait.
I tot i saw the hesitation on Roger's facial expression...
Very strange choice indeed
Surely that was a joke😅😅
Who in their right mind would put chemicals on their bait..
Then again he didn't catch anything lol😅😅
your video's are Master classes Roger
Thanks mate
Big Kahawai like that you have to back up away from the water at the end of the fight and keep rod low or you will lose them just like that particularly with light line.
Class fishing Roger..Poor old Tony was just watching you pull out fish after fish… did Tony get any?
Always such great content, information, and advice. The reality of fishing at its finest.
I appreciate that!
Hi Roger thought whiting legal size is 27 cm not 25 as you told the people on the beach.Cheers good work again love your shows
Hi Jeanette thanks for correcting me. 27cm is correct. On the spur of the moment, I was just guessing.
Tony reminds me of my friend haha , he spends so much time trying to do all these different things to catch the fish that he doesn’t catch anything 😂
Hope the blue bottle didn't get you too badly Roger. Also hope they don't make their way up to Bulli. Wanted to swim and fish this weekend
Another great video Roger. What is your hook set up. Do you have a video showing the different set-ups for different scenarios?
In my opinion there is onky 3 waus with pillys fresh that day frozen fresh or salted in a slurry with tuna oil that sit

I had a bait in the water most of the time, Tony spent a lot of time rigging
Nice
Rogers idea of "middle of the day" is 4.30pm lol 😂
Roger's idea of middle of the day: when the tide is right.. even if it's 3am. :)
Keep safe master.
Where I fish, the Murray Mouth in South Australia. Tides are everything.
Teşekkürler
Hi Roger can you please suggest a beach near Sydney to fish thanks I really enjoy your fishing videos
Great Video Roger!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for your video .....people have told me that salmon isn't any good to eat. What is your advice on this subject please
I brought home a 70cm one and my Greek neighbour cooked it up and it was dreadful, very overpowering
@@bennyjbenham thanks for letting me know

@@bennyjbenham you gotta bleed it properly. Cook it same day. I guess people have different taste buds. I like pike too
Salmon is amazing - just have to bleed them straight away, cut the bloodline out & eat them as fresh as possible
Boooooooooorax 😂😂😂😂 Roger couldn’t help laugh himself
You can see the rod bend at 44 min mark in the background, pretty much fish on
Instead of expensive fish oils, I simply use WD40 to spray my lures - it's fish-oil-based, so same effect. I've also used cheap fish sauce from the Chinese food section in the supermarket - works very well.
Roger you can use venigar for the Portuguese man of war jelly fish. Love watching your videos ❤️
Yes, Ananya they say vinegar but rinsing under hot water is best
greetings Roger from sunny Queensland , would be handy to know which beaches you fish , us weekend fishers would love to know , cheers mate
Hi Colin I live in the Ulladulla area and fish the local beaches such as Racecourse Beach. Tabourie Beach. Wairo Beach. Burrill Beach.
Roger the word to keep the line straight in front of you is perpendicular to the beach
Hiya Roger, thanks for another fun and informative session. Just a heads up, I watch some other fisherfolk who have had yt censorship issues over images of preparing live fish to take home. Keep teaching the dream my friend
Roger i noticed youhave a knife holder. I stick my knife holder in the sand to drop my knife in. Protects the blade edge a little.
Good vid Roger, how long will your worms last when you have them in your bait box?
A couple of days if you keep them in a cool place off the ground
Roger when you on a good bite, get out of the wash so you can bring it out on a wave. Yo usually lose your fish because you are still in the water.
Whiting are 27cm in nsw
Baby salmon or salmon trout are best eating. Nice and sweet.
Ex navy seal from nam told me lady’s stockings stop blue bottles and leaches and you can tie a bit rope to stockings put can tuna or fish in it and catch crabs as they get stuck in the stockings wow I said never would thought that

What's the benefit of removing the tail of the pilchards ??
Hi Roger, what month was this filmed? And in your opinion what are the best months to chase Salmon off the beach? Or can you catch them year round in NSW?
You can get them all year round .Id say the best time is March through to end of May.
Hi Jake, this video was filmed a week ago. All year around on the NSW South Coast.
Not here in Western Australia. Year round near Esperance, but otherwise almost only during the spawning run from March to April. But they're bigger than East coast salmon. 60 cm and 5 kg is average.

Hlow Roger, Tray To make Anoder Reg , Pout The Sincer At The End Of Lain The Hook Well Be After Sincer As 60-100 cm.
When fishing surf I have trouble distinguishing fish bites from sinker bites. Any suggestions?
I'm always the Tony on our trips. And all the uncle Roger gents are landing fish all around me 😢😂
😂
Nice salmon Roger 👍
are you using a three way swivel
Yes I am
@@RogerOsborneFishing thanks for the reply
What line do you use?
Hey roger can I ask why do u cut the tail of the pilchard? Cheers
Tails tend to make the bait spin
Yes, the tail can make the bait spin in the air or water creating twist. When casting less wind resistance is always good.
Hi Roger what length are your rod holders?
Do aussies call Kahawai salmon?
Yep, Aussie Salmon is the same as Kahawai 🇳🇿
Yeah it’s a weird one
Rodger you have to tell us what beach you're on ASAP 😅Ta..?
This was Racecourse Beach Ulladulla
Roger, maybe you should have heavier rod on standby....hook on one of those baby Salmon....Mullaway coming your way❤
Good idea
I prefer using mullet on my hooks, stays on the hook better.
I also use a wire trace and sicide hooks
The skin on the Mullet is good for holding onto the hook
Where are you fishing
HinRoger Osborne do all beach have beach worms.
Most do in NSW and south Queensland
When I retire I’m going to make a fishing channel 😊
Maybe you can do a video together haha
Not the nicest of releases by old mate at around 17 minutes :( Hopefully it made 'another day' :(
"The Butcher"
Dude ripped off half the internal organs of the fish and decided to chuck it back in the drink, fully bleeding
Shimano and Daiwa
🎣 Penn 🎣
What country are you in?
Ripper salmon
That was so small. Let them grow. Can you tell us what line and how you rig up?
Where about roughly are you I would love to fish with you I’m on the mid north coast and I’m thinking about setting up my own TH-cam channel
Blake I am based at Ulladulla on the South Coast
@@RogerOsborneFishing I used to l work in Ulladulla a lot and never thought about fishing there, I really wish I did
Borax??
Why not wear waders, especially when blue bottles are about?
I try to avoid them but the odd sting won't hurt you. Although, from experience, some are worse than others!
Before even watching this video, i hope Tony likes Aust. Salmon😂
Yes he loves them!
Place please?
Borax is just a bit more than a little TOXIC!
Awesome is not the word we use when we are catching heaps of Salmon on the Beach 😂😂 They steal your Squid baits when Jewfishing and absolutely love worms, sometimes they are so thick we stop fishing for 20 minutes have a cup of tea and hope they leave the gutter.
Salmon are delicious though… just gotta bleed them well
